Yelp
This one is all about the location. Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself was quite nice(see below), but you'll be hard-pressed to find a better situated hotel in Mexico City.
Hotel Hippodrome sits right atop Parque Mexico (perhaps the nicest park in Mexico City) straddling the charming and leafy Condesa and Roma Norte neighborhoods. The area is safe, quiet, and full off great dining, coffee, and nightlife options. Mercado Roma, Parian Condesa, Buna 42, Lalo, Contramar, La Clandestina, Merotoro, and many other similar offering are all a short walk from the hotel.
The area is also the most central to other areas visitors typically seek out - Polanco, Centro Historico, Coyoacan, San Angel, Juarez, Zona Rosa, etc. Given the size of Mexico City, this might be more important than you think.
The service is what you'd expect from an small, upscale hotel - a welcome drink, responsive staff, delicious continental breakfast you can take in your room, in the restaurant, or out on the sidewalk. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed with new furniture and Sonos music systems.
Overall, I felt my stay was a great value and would highly recommend.
