Hirayu Campground

We took the campsite and was a good experience. Park was large enough with bbq spot on each parking. Toilet and water supply available. Very friendly and helpful staffs. Nearby to onsen.

Perfect base to camp while visiting this area! The sites are taken by a first-come system, so arrive early (opens 8am) to get a campsite that suits you. There are basic needs available at the front desk office (ice, fire wood etc) but if you need groceries then a 15min drive to the nearest supermarket is necessary. The toilets are clean with the usual assortment of bugs that a light in the forest would attract, and the roads are well maintained. Burnable rubbish and recyclables can be dumped next to to entry boomgates.

Bungalow/ cabin rentals... Not tent camping. Bathrooms very clean. Nice location close to the hot springs. BBQ grills were less than ideal... bring your own if you have one. They rent blankets, but not sleeping bags.

Stayed for 2 nights in Hirayu Campsite during my cycling trip in Japan. Made day trip to Norikura from the campsite. Nice campsite with clean toilets, bought the discounted onsen voucher from the campsite office, walk about 200m to enjoy the onsen nearby.

A perfect base to explore the Japanese Alps. This is an alpine campground tucked in a dense woodland, which means you can get away from the summer heat. Basic amenities and groceries supply are serviced through the nearby onsen town.

If not the best camping site of Japan, the best of Gifu prefecture, no doubt.

登山の後泊として利用しました。 アクセスは、大滝口キャンプ場前のバス停からすぐ。平湯温泉バスターミナルや温泉施設からも徒歩10分弱と便利です。 徒歩でのソロキャンプは800円とリーズナブルで、炊事場やトイレは清潔。平日の利用だったため、広々としたフリーサイトで快適に過ごせました。 モバイルバッテリーの充電も管理棟で100円で対応してもらえ、若い男性スタッフの方の対応も親切で好印象でした。
