One of the most promising beach in Sri Lanka...no many tourists...calm watter for swimming ...trees and shadow up to the sea..you can relax all day in the sea front bar and cafe.. for surfing too ...prices everywhere reasonal ...better than Unawatuna snd Merrisa

Hiriketiya is hands down the best bay in Sri Lanka! The horseshoe shape creates a stunning backdrop and the surf is world-class for both beginners and intermediate longboarders. The jungle-meets-ocean aesthetic is incredible, and there are so many trendy cafes just steps from the water. Perfect chill vibes

Pretty touristy , overcrowded beach, small area. lots of cafes , western food, etc. not so local, seems to be a popular spot on the tourist loop. 1st day we were here counted 80+ surfers midday , boards flying everywhere , people crashing into each other 🙈 it is a nice little beach however but hate to see what more tourism and expanded development does to this place. morning (6-7am isn’t any less busy in the water surfing than evening or midday. Be aware in the water surfing or others and boards to avoid injury) nice easy waves however

Great beach to visit. Even though it can get really crowded, you will always find a place. A good spot to surf (beginner level) as well. We saw some turtles and baby sharks as well!

Great beach for swimming or surfing. Can be busy but we always found a place. Just bring a towel to sit on the beach, it's free but can be tricky with the space according to the tide.

Probably the nicest beach you can find in the area. Probably the best for begginers but not so good for experienced surfers though. Many beach bars and restaurants all around the area.

Lovely beach to surf mainly. They have a lot of surfing instructors to teach you from scratch. Small but lively beach. Lots of restaurants and food truck option as well. If you don’t like busy beaches, then this is not for you. I went in first week of December and it was packed. Enjoyed my time here, worth a visit!
