Histò San Pietro Sul Mar Piccolo, a Design Boutique Hotel Taranto, Italy

"The San Pietro Sul Mar Piccolo takes its name from the small and beautiful sea which it overlooks. The hotel includes a 16,000-ft² spa designed by Culti. Rooms offer free Wi-Fi and a minimalist style. Parking is free. In a small village, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, the Histò San Pietro features an attractive, striking design. The hotel features its own basilica, which is available for special events and business engagements. All rooms have stone floors and walls, some with vaulted ceilings. Each room includes air conditioning, private bathroom, and satellite TV. The lounge rooms and cafe are all in striking white stone." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Service was terrible. The room was hot. The bed was uncomfortable. The water never got hot (they explained how to make sure it would get hot, did not work). There was no one at the front desk for checkout at 915am. The food at the restaurant was subpar (50€ for dinner buffet with cold food). Lunch was not good either. The octopus was very salty. I would not recommend staying here. It is a 3/4 star hotel, not a 5 star hotel. The gym was also hot with no AC, and old equipment. The hotel felt pretty dead.

Rooms and the decor of the hotel was beautiful! Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the overall service and vibe. There were very little guests staying; it was a ghost town during the day. Despite this, it took 50+ minutes to serve us lunch each day, even with being the only people to order food. We tried to get the waiters attention each time but they rush past ( despite having very little or no guests). This didn’t even give us an opportunity to discuss the poor service. They moved us into the restaurant due to rain one day and forgot to turn on the lights in there for 30 minutes 😅. I felt they had much younger day staff in attendance and they were more preoccupied with cleaning or doing tasks, than serving guests. The only good experience we received was when we ate in the restaurant one night. The service was superb. Booking.com does not make it clear that the spa is an additional charge. 95€ to sit in an array of pools is London prices so I was very shocked to find out the price, whilst already paying alot for the hotel room per night. This poor advertising is not the hotels fault but it started us off on a bad footing which unfortunately got worse. I would avoid this hotel. There is not much else to do in the area so if you’re not enjoying the hotel, there is nowhere to go…

Relais Histo, set in a beautifully restored 14th-century monastery near Taranto, offers a unique ambiance steeped in history and character. Surrounded by olive trees and overlooking the Ionian Sea, the resort’s historic architecture and serene setting create a picturesque escape that feels like stepping back in time.||However, while the heritage building exudes charm and elegance, parts of the resort are in need of renovation, and the facilities don’t quite live up to the promise of a luxury stay. The grandeur of the surroundings is often let down by inconsistent customer service, which can feel lacking, particularly for international guests. Non-Italian visitors might find the level of attention and care falls short, leaving a sense of missed expectations.||Despite its potential, Relais Histo can sometimes miss the mark on the warm, personalized service that defines a top-tier resort experience. With a bit more attention to detail and a renewed focus on hospitality, this beautiful retreat could truly shine as the exceptional destination it aspires to be.||Markus B. & Family

Ok, first of all, this hotel is NEVER a 5 star hotel. Not sure if even a 4 star. The facilities are beautiful , and some of the staff is really nicer but, some of the staff are REALLY rude, acting as if they are doing you the biggest favor ever attending you. The weather was a little cold during our stay, and we basically couldn’t shower, because there was no warm water, like wtf? And when we asked the woman at the front desk about it she was extremely rude and tried nothing at all to help, saying it was because of the weather and there was nothing she could do. So basically, I am paying 210 euros a night, and can’t even shower.

We stayed here one night on our trip through Puglia and were delighted to see how this hotel was architectural beautiful. |Location: A bit off the beaten track. |Facility: Beautiful architecture, but very spread out. There is a spa, but we weren’t able to schedule a massage because everything was booked by non hotel guests. |Room: Very large and spacious in a ultra modern taste. Bathroom was good with a huge double headed shower, but we found it difficult to figure out what controlled what. We were also confused by the HVAC because there was a control panel on the wall that didn’t work. It wasn’t until I discovered the the remote that I was able to control the heat. |Food: We ate dinner at the restaurant and was very disappointed by the food and service. There was a large group having dinner and it appeared we were being forced through the meal to get us out before large group showed up. |Service: overall the front desk service was very good, but the lack of service in the restaurant and spa was below par. ||While this hotel bills itself as a spa, it operates more like a group hotel.

Such an oasis of quiet and tranquility. We found this treasure by accident when our regular hotel was booked up. The magic of this place transports you back in time as you imagine what it may have been like as a noble Roman owner of a large estate in the Italian countryside surrounded by hectares of olive groves and open rolling hills near the sea. The service was impeccable and the food divine. A great place to escape for solitude and relaxation. Definitely recommend this place.

My wife and me stayed at Histo as a “couples retreat” and we could not be happier with the service, the place and its surroundings. From Clara at the restaurant to the front desk staff and everyone we have met the service is impeccable and friendly. And the Masseria is one of the most gorgeous places we have ever stayed in Europe! What an amazing and beautiful place. I strongly recommend this place for couples or even families, as next time we will bring our little one
