So much of this place was just so wrong, but somehow we absolutely loved it. We specifically booked this hotel because we rented an electric car in Phoenix & believed this hotel to have a charging station. It does not. Similarly, I try to choose hotels that have pools, but this one does not. VERY FRUSTRATING, as both the 3rd-party booking site we used AND the hotel's own published information show both of these amenities. The hotel is very dated, & the need for cosmetic repairs & updates were apparent almost everywhere one looked. Also, the thin walls & the proximity to such a busy street meant an excess of ambient noise. Breakfast consisted of bagels, bread, prepackaged muffins, instant oatmeal, cold cereal, & yogurt; orange juice was available some mornings, but not all.||But, there was so much good here, we decided to overlook the other things, & I'm really glad we did. The lovely human at the front desk sensed my frustration about the lack of a charging station, & upgraded us to a kitchenette room. We didn't really want or need a kitchen, but since we were there for 6 nights, we really grew to appreciate having a big refrigerator & a kitchen fully stocked with utensils & appliances. I used the toaster & the microwave every single day, & it was nice to have real coffee cups instead of the paper/styrofoam ones that are typical of hotels. The room & the grounds were clean. Some of the other guests weren't particularly tidy, but all messes were gone by the next morning. The room itself was super-clean, even with its dated carpet & older furniture. Our room itself had two easy chairs and a desk, so we could spread out & feel comfortable. The shower was heavenly (great water pressure!) & they use refillable dispensers for body wash & shampoo. Most of the ambient noise could be cancelled out by running the fan on our in-room AC unit. the outside seating area was an extra bonus & we spent most evenings right outside our room door. We even met the new owners (or maybe only managers?) tending to the bougainvillea one evening. The location is great, with a grocery store & a couple of restaurants within a stone's throw. The bars & restaurants of the historic Main Street/downtown area is about a mile away. The Colorado River State Historic Park (Yuma Crossing Discovery Center) & access it I-8 are only about half mile away. We had a different housekeeper every day, & they were all just lovely. We requested not to have housekeeping service every day, but every morning they checked on our supply of clean towels & coffee, & emptied our trash cans. ||So, yes, this is definitely an older hotel, deep in the "budget" category, & yes, I was pissed that the advertised pool & charging station were not available, but our overall experience here was fabulous & the price was well worth the value we received.
