This is a beautiful restored historic hotel in a prime location close to Rainier National park and White pass ski area. The week day rates and reduced price lift tickets were great. The rooms were quiet and perfectly clean. The sitting area was very comfortable with table games and a fireplace. The proprietor was super helpful and friendly. I really appreciated all of the fine touch and thoughtful details. Fun Pubs and Bakery next door, but not close enough to hear. Free parking. I highly recommend this inn.

This hotel is worth the stay. The bed is comfortable, the decor is great, and the service is fabulous. I can't say enough about Alyssa and her team. With the turn in the weather, we ended up staying in for most of the trip. Alyssa kept a fire going in the sitting area, and we were very comfortable. Thanks for everything!

What absolutely incredible accommodations! The property is beautiful, and in the perfect location. The owner simply could not be more phenomenal - she clearly loves what she does and where she does it, and how could she not in such a picturesque setting. The rooms were adorable and so comfortable, the shower and toiletries were very nice, and the common areas were just so perfect. I would love to visit again, and would easily recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed here while visiting Mt Rainier National Park. This is a great spot right in the center of Packwood. It is very close to a number of restaurants, breweries, and coffee shop. All within walking distance. We stayed in one of the rooms with a private bathroom. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and well decorated. Most importantly were comfortable and relaxing. The hotel is historic and in that decor from almost a century back. The mail level has a wrap around porch with plenty of seating and views. The inside has a private room and a common area for more seating. They also have a kitchen/coffee area with a common fridge. There was plenty of coffee, tea, and water for guests. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend staying here. If we are back, we definitely will!

What a charming place! The decorating is exquisite and while we were there, the Halloween decor was thoughtfully displayed. The atmosphere is cozy, friendly, relaxed and clean. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well even though our room faced the main street. We would love to return.

This hotel is a little historic gem. Every detail has been thought of. The rooms are inviting, the hotel has warmth, character, history but above all caring owners who have kept it going. Thank you for a relaxing night away. -Liz

Stopped here for two nights on extended road trip. Family owned. Very cool. Great porch, free coffee and tea. Across the street from a nice pub and a coffee shop. We hiked all day at Rainer and relaxed on the porch at night. I’d recommend the stand alone room in the attached unit. Very quiet.

You should pick this one. If you’re visiting Mt Rainier NP. If you like historic properties but not the “grandma house” vibes. If you like quaint villages with ice cream, brewery, and dinner all within walking distance. If you like sitting on big porches enjoying a warm beverage. If you enjoy lounging in a moody library or playing games in a family room. My husband and I looked forward to returning to our cozy room at the Historic Packwood Hotel each evening after exploring the park. We made ourselves at home, from preparing our hot beverages at the coffee and tea bar while packing our park lunches, to playing with games and puzzles after enjoying what the quaint town has to offer. Our stay at this hotel was a large factor into why we had such a wonderful trip to Packwood. 10/10, would come again.

Yelp
We booked this place for 10 days and opened it a month old since Covid. Rooms are newly renovated so yeah - Chaching! We scored! It was an honor to be part of this historic landmark hotel which was established circa 1912. There are 9 rooms in which 5 rooms have their own private bathroom. The other 4 shared two bathroom. Each rooms are named after favorite local hiking trail. Each room are also decorated with combinations of William Morris wallpapers with dark and light hues. If you see it in person, it seems like you're time traveled from the first time it was established. They were also able to preserved some of the original wood and decorations inside this historic hotel. Alyssa one of the staffs is the most kindest and warmest person who always greeted us. Her and other staffs worked so hard together to keep the place going and cozy as much as possible. There's also a fire place that's available to use during winter. Also a complimentary coffee, tea and cider to help warm you after a chilly hike somewhere. Every where yo set your eyes in this place has a very special touch from people whose involved in this place. Glad we stayed here throughout our Juander Mt. Rainier. Best decision to book here! The creaky floor was one of the original thing here so t'was a fun bonus. Walk slowly fellow Juanderers.... Cons: Price is too steep and for the 10 days that we booked here we only got 10% discount and at the time they don't serve breakfast nor dinner. No microwave available for everyone to use, it would be nice if they put one and is available to use at any time. Would love to come back and hopefully they'll give a certain big discount next time. Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow yeeps!

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this place! The space and rooms are beautiful and full of character! You can tell every piece of furniture was hand picked, with some even coming from the family themselves, making it more personal. The complimentary tea and coffee bar was a favorite of mine. Alyssa is wonderful and I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance:)

Yelp
What a gem!!! My wife found this place online and was I ever glad that she did!!! A gorgeously updated historic building that is comfortable, clean and amazing! My only regret is not getting to stay longer.

Jennifer V.

Yelp
price is way too steep for the lack of sleep we had due to the super loud creaky floors being walked on until past midnight with uncomfortable bed and pillows making it worse. No television, staff was non existent, with no food offered. cheap shampoo conditioner in the shower not worth using. good thing we brought our own. sketchy reservation price which did not clearly state the total charge. horrible experience would recommend staying elsewhere.

Yelp
Lovely stay when heading over to Eastern Washington. Beautiful lodge, clean and thoughtful. Highly recommend staying.

Yelp
Great location in downtown Packwood, close to restaurants and stores. The staff can't be nicer and more welcoming. The room is clean and comfortable, and cozy :) A lot of interesting stories about the place.

Yelp
The Hotel Packwood such a good value it's hard to find fault with it. Camping in the National Park is $20 per night, and rooms here are $35 to $45 / night... so far I've chosen to stay at the Hotel Packwood and enjoy having a hot shower every night. Packwood is a fun little town, and within a short distance of both Mount Rainier and Mount St Helens - I definitely recommend staying here and plan on doing it again in the future. As for the rooms themselves, the beds are a bit bouncy, so 2 people will sleep more comfortably on 2 twin beds. The beds are shorter in length as well, so tall people might jam toes on the footboard. Also, the hotel is close enough to route 12 that noise from traffic can be an issue, if sleeping with the windows open in summer.

Yelp
Hotel Packwood is my home away from home. I came here for the first time 3 years ago and absolutely loved my time here. We just came to Washington again and had plans to stay in packwood for 3 nights and knew we had to come back. We got held up earlier in the week and had to cancel our first night reservation the day beforehand. She canceled it no problem at all with no charge. We check in with a warm greeting from the owner and a friendly hello from the house dog Jed. The rates can't be beat, it was $40 a night for a room with no bathroom. There are 2 clean hallway bathrooms that have showers and towels and soap provided. There are rooms with bathrooms offered they were just booked up when we came, and those aren't much more expensive either, might have been $55 a night last time I stayed. The hotel is in walking distance to everything in town, and the closet town to the entrance to Mt. Rainier national park, so it is a perfect stay when coming to explore the park. It is a common place to stay for people hiking the PCT trail, and the owner has a book out that everyone who stays signs. You look through it and see people from all over the world stay here. It really just adds to the homey atmosphere this place has. I can't recommend this place enough, if you are coming to packwood, you have to stay in hotel Packwood.

Yelp
Okay: Proprietor Marilyn, the Hotel, staying in the same room as Teddy Roosevelt once did, the elk visits, the proximity to the Grove of the Patriarchs (Rainier) and the incredibly affordable price are all great... but Jed (her yellow lab) is the star of the show! We love "vintage", casual, warm, well-loved accommodations, and The Hotel Packwood, founded in 1912, is a true gem! Marilyn was lovely to chat with, and she is justifiably proud of her classic "boarding house". I'll post some pics on Trip Advisor, but suffice it to say that we bought an annual pass to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, JUST to have an excuse to stay with Marilyn (and Jed) again! :)

Yelp
Historic hotel with lots of charm! My wife and I stayed here during our ski trip to White Pass. We were very pleased with our stay. Marilyn, the owner, welcomed us as if we were family, gave us a brief tour, and recommended a place for us to have dinner. The hotel is very affordable. We stayed in room #6 which has the queen bed and shared bath. Don't let the "shared bath" discourage you. There are only nine rooms in this small hotel and two of the rooms have their own bathrooms. That leaves seven rooms to share two full baths. Not a problem. The rooms are small but exceptionally clean. Downstairs is a big fireplace and cozy chairs to relax in. There was fresh coffee in the morning to send us on our way to White Pass Ski Resort. No complaints. We would recommend this place to both family and friends and look forward to returning in the near future. You can get more info from their website at www.packwoodwa.com and click "accommodations" or send them an email at packwoodhotel@yahoo.com. We couldn't find any reviews of this hotel on yelp but we did find 8 on tripadvisor.com. All of the reviews on that site were very positive.

Yelp
The positives are the location (though really... all the lodging in Packwood is close right?)... the owner/manager was proud that they were as close to the nightlife at the Blue Spruce. Turns out we could hear the karaoke singing from the Blue Spruce after midnight. :) The manager was very friendly and it seemed like a place that was run with a down-home care. The place is just a little run down and the rooms are small (we had one of the two rooms with the private baths). No air conditioning meant we kept the portable fan aimed at the bed. The other positive is that the place has some rustic charm. Funny to see a place with shampoo and soaps from other hotels like Shilo Inn. :) There was coffee available in the lobby in the morning. It was clean and inexpensive room and the place was quaint.

Yelp
You don't get any better hospitality than this cute spot with history. Marilyn is an excellent host. Yes, most of the rooms are small, but it's just a place to lay your head, so no complaints! It's cozy, warm, has hot water & fresh coffee every morning. I am already planning my next stay here for Elk season. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Judy H.

Yelp
Just a great place with a wonderful owner. Marilyn makes you feel like family as soon as you get there. We stayed in #6 for only $40 for two people. We never had to wait for one of the two spacious and very clean, we'll appointed bathrooms. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
This is the second time I have stayed here. My fiance works in the mountains, and its because of this place I can come visit him without spending my entire life savings on other hotels in the area. Its also one of the most host friendly places I have ever stayed at. In amy other hotel you feel like another guest just passing through. I made three friends just sitting on the wrap around porch. I enjoy my privacy and also enjoy company. You get both here. So clean and reminds me of my grannys house that I grew up in. Hidden gem in this area. I will be a regular for sure!

Karen K.

Yelp
This hotel was very clean, quiet and homey. If u r looking for a place to stay, this is it. Reasonably priced also. Marilyn went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a place to stay and not have to pay an arm and leg.

Yelp
Such a cute little place. Rustic and full of antiquities. The price of a room with your own bathroom is 49$. They have a cute lobby with a coffee pot mini fridge & t v. They do have Wifi. Very nice people.

Pat W.

Yelp
The positive reviews we had read sounded almost too good to be true, at such a reasonable price, but we found that it was all true! Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, fresh linens in bathroom each day, and an eclectic collection of antique furnishings. Shelves of books everywhere in case one got weathered in. Very helpful hostess, Marilyn, with thoughtful advice on where to eat and explore. Fresh coffee, tea, etc by the fireplace, and a small refrigerator/freezer for use by guests. We had one of the rooms with private bath, but noted that the two shared baths were large and roomy, so would not have been a problem for a full house sharing the other 7 rooms. We spent 3 nights here in June 2014, and found it perfect for making day trips in all directions, including up on Mt Rainier. We've recommended it to friends and family in Seattle and Portland.

Yelp
Our visit to Hotel Packwood was so much better than expected. We were looking for easy accommodations close to the White Pass Ski area. We stayed in #9 ($49.00) which has a private bath. The manager (owner?) greeted us warmly and treated us VERY WELL throughout our entire stay. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and when we shared with her that we were having a girl, she dashed into her residence and came back bearing baby clothing (clean, in great shape) and insisted we take it! I realize this is not going to be typical of every stay at the hotel but I think it speaks to the charm and character of the innkeeper. The hotel looks much better in person than in any of the photos I looked at prior to visiting. It's has maintained it's cozy historical charm. The bed was comfortable, the room had a fan (we didn't need to use it), antique furniture, and a collection of books. Very quaint. I peeked my head into the "shared baths" that the other rooms utilize, they were both very clean, well-appointed (stocked with towels, toiletries, tissues, etc.) and also were decorated with antique furniture. There is a coffee bar (complimentary) in the lobby that was stocked with coffee, tea, cocoa (bonus points!), and oatmeal in the morning. Our evening at Hotel Packwood was peaceful and enjoyable. We awoke the next morning to 2 Roosevelt Elk grazing outside the window of our room. We got out of our room a bit late the next day and housekeeping couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. We're delighted with Hotel Packwood and will definitely be staying there again. *Free Wifi, also

Yelp
Cozy place With a very nice owner. For $45 I couldn't be happier especially with the location near mount rainier. Owner even did our laundry while we went out for dinner.

Elise C.

Yelp
One of our favorite places we stayed on our entire trip. Marilyn, the owner, is so hospitable and welcoming that you feel like you are staying with family. Or room was very clean and had a comfortable bed with nice pillows. Shared bathrooms were also very clean and we never had to wait for one, most people seemed to leave quite early in the morning. Very convenient location for Mt Rainier and the back entrance to Mt St Helens, which is well worth a visit. Elk wander through the town periodically and the hotel seems to attract interesting and diverse people- we enjoyed socializing on the porch at night. We would come back in a heartbeat!

Barb S.

Yelp
Wonderful stay at Hotel Packwood in the fall of 2013. Marilyn, the owner, was friendly, gracious and accommodating. The hotel is rustic and if you want the local flavor of "down-home".. this is it. Our room with private bath, while small (double bed), was clean and cozy for the night we were there. We especially enjoyed meeting a couple on holiday from England who were also staying there. We exchanged travel stories for several hours on Hotel Packwood's inviting wrap -a-round porch. For us, it was just perfect! Thank you, Marilyn, for a great experience.
