My girlfriend and I stayed here at the end of December for the Military Bowl. I picked this hotel because it had consistently good reviews and seemed to be centrally located. I am happy to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. From the moment we arrived the staff was checking in on us multiple times a day to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The front desk and valet members were all extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Governor Calvert House, which was very nice and located within a 5 minute walk of everything downtown and on the water. Walking pass the other two buildings it’s easy to see that they’d be great as well. The hotel blended its historic buildings with modern amenities. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was modern and clean. The lobby area featured nice sitting places. The only thing missing was a vending machine if you wanted to buy water late at night. I’d highly recommend this hotel and we plan to be back in the warmer months to explore the city more.

This is a quaint hotel located just minutes from main part of town. The rooms were immaculate. The beds were comfy. they had nice amenities in the bathroom. Check in was easy. There is valet parking but also a garage nearby that is free on the weekends.|We would definitely stay there again

Google
Great location and a beautiful and comfortable room with space. Nice fluffy pillows and blankets. Non-working fireplace, which is sad but understandable. Would have liked full bottles of water in the room, they give you half bottles. They do provide a Kuereg and tea. The building is very cool and they have 1 fully accessible room at the Calvert House location.

Positive: The ground floor lobby rooms were so comfy, beautiful historic deco, quiet. The front desk was very helpful. Nice people! Negative: Everything was excellent. But 1. When we checked out on the last day, the velvet parking guy didn?t provide any help, though I was busy with my luggage and my boy, I got no hand for trunk door. He took the tip, idled around, but didn?t help at all.

I truly cannot say enough about the staff at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis. They are totally professional, friendly, and caring. This is my place to stay in Annapolis. It is quaint, beds are oh so comfortable, and the rooms are clean! You cannot go wrong staying at the Governor Calvert House.

Google
Wonderful stay! The room is cozy, it’s unbelievably quiet and peaceful. Staff are friendly. Excellent location with much to see and experience within walking distance. The only issue is the very loud air conditioner that sounds like a hot rod running next to the bed. Otherwise, highly recommend.

I don't believe I have stayed at a more beautiful hotel. I love its history, its curated design, its charm. The staff were exceptional. The manager spoke with my family about the history of the buildings and of the organization that owns this collection of historic accommodations. We could walk to everything...which leads to comment on the town of Annapolis: PERFECT.

We stayed at the Governor Calvert House and couldn't be happier with the room, service and hospitality. Our room was much more spacious than we expected in an historic inn and it carried its history with pride. |Front desk, Antsa was very welcoming and helpful and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Valets Hudson and Brandon T. were great, remembered my name and vehicle and were very efficient. We'll be back.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this hotel. However, we were very disappointed. The room was hot and would not cool down even with the AC turned to the lowest temperature. There was a wedding reception which was extremely loud and lasted late into the evening. The beds were very small and uncomfortable. We also had a maintenance worker barge in despite having the do not disturb sign on the door. I was in the bathroom and he opened the bathroom door without warning to let me know he was checking the refrigerator temp. I've never experienced anything like this. Completely unacceptable.

Yelp
I thought it would be nice nice to book an historic hotel here in Annapolis for my family. It took about 45 minutes to check in because the hotel had lost one room reservation. They offer valet service, but the valet attendants are very reticent and I had to ask them multiple times to valet the car. When we went to our rooms, we were shocked to see rooms with black wallpaper and no windows to the exterior. It was like 2 AM all day long. What's more is that the rooms overlook a reception area and there was a loud party happening with a baseball team. We could not hear ourselves talk in the room. The rooms have tiny bathrooms. In our room, the refrigerator didn't work, the Internet was terribly confusing, and the television didn't work until after a maintenance person had to fix it. This section of the hotel was built in 1985!! When I complained, the front desk staff stated that the manager was unavailable. I persisted for three hours until I finally spoke to the manager. He was very kind, but frankly there was nothing he could do to alleviate the situation. The hotel was booked full. In the end, they kindly booked us a nice breakfast at a nearby restaurant. For $750 for one night plus the cost of valet parking, I think next time I will stay at the Days Inn.

Yelp
I do want to love this hotel as its staff's attention to details, restaurant's delicious food and superb location were all what I had hoped for in a hotel. Because I stayed in this hotel, I was able to fully enjoy what Annapolis could offer. The hotel is how I've come to love Annapolis. That said, the hotel's arcane interior and how guest rooms are situated were simply beyond comprehension: New World. Most guest rooms were placed as if the guests were expected to inspect or observe the crowd's movements in the restaurant down below, with the convenience of remaining in the room. You can also HEAR their conversation word by word IN your bed. It was like a lullaby when I went to bed...in the middle of and above the restaurant. Yes! when you go to the restaurant and look up, voila, you can look inside each guest room without an effort AND even you can even hear, not listen to, what the guests were talking about FROM INSIDE the restaurant. And yes!!! I repeat, the guest rooms were right inside the restaurant, just above. Think of a two story big community center. 1st floor is community center and the 2nd floor is an apartment complex. We were in the apartment complex called Hotel. Yes!!!!! As if we were living with the crowds in the restaurant. No dividers, no nothing to obstruct each other's view and voice. VERY open concept. Oh yes, again--- well you know how it goes. I was simply appalled. My eyes almost popped out, my jaw hit the floor and I gasped for air when the manager further rubbed on: "Yes, our guest rooms were intentionally located inside and above the restaurant. Many guests were, after all, quite satisfied with their rooms." His very polite demeanor and dead serious face with a hint of British accent on his mouth nearly collapsed me with heart attack: WOW, there's a bigger world that I've not yet known INSIDE the restaurant. (I'm getting confused)

Yelp
2 nights at $200 a night plus taxes $491. Plus $70 for parking!!! The room looks out over the lobby at a brick wall 30 ft away. The bathroom is very big for handicapped but has no towel rack no counter top to put your stuff on when you shower. Just a sink hanging from the wall. The shampoo and conditioner is in dispensers hanging on the wall that anyone that was here before you could put ANYTHING in! NOT sanitary!! The shower also has no fan and water pressure sucks. They offer a discount for 2 night stands and for being a firefighter but only if you book it directly through them. When I tried to call and book it directly I was forwarded to a call center that knew NOTHING about the hotel!!!! He didn't speak English so he was very hard to understand plus he mumbled!!! Love the town literally hate the hotel!!!

Yelp
The Maryland Historic Inn of Annapolis is conveniently located for sightseeing, eating, and shopping. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed with antique and reproduction furniture. What we wish we knew about the Maryland Inn: * Check-in and valet parking are at the Governor Calvert House, a short walk through an alley shortcut to the Maryland Inn. * The valet will return your vehicle to the Maryland Inn on the day of your departure. * Modern conveniences such as television, electrical outlets, Keurig, and mini-frig are tastefully blended into the decor or are hidden in furniture. * Our bathroom was tiny, with a single-stall shower and a small pedestal sink. * Our room had a small lip, about an inch step to the bathroom. There is no light strip or colored tape. (Use caution.) * There was mold in our shower, otherwise, everything was immaculate. * The toiletries have an amazing scent. * The bed was comfortable, although the pillows are lumpy. * Contact the Governor Calvert House if you want your room tidied or need towels for the following day. * Coffee is in the lobby after 7:00 am. We had a great stay at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. The city is beautiful with many things to do.

Yelp
This was a fantastic stay at this hotel. It was our first time staying here and we picked it because it was my husband's birthday and he is a history buff. We stayed at the Calvert house. The hotel is gorgeous, comfortable, and very clean. When the staff learned that we are staying for my husband's birthday, they made us feel very special and gave us a complementary valet parking among other things. The staff are incredibly kind, positive, and good at their jobs. The location and the historical feeling of the hotel is unbeatable. Overall, we cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
We stayed at the Robert Johnson house. While I understand the historic aspect of the lodging, the actual rooms we had were both dated and definitely need a refresh. If you don't mind rooms that haven't been upgraded in a long time, the rooms were generally clean and comfortable. Our bathroom definitely felt like it could use a redo, but it wasn't terrible.

Susan B.

Yelp
I will not recommend this hotel. This hotel is not quaint nor cozy but filthy and musty. Our room had not been cleaned in months and after complaining numerous times we still did not get our room cleaned. This Hotel rates a zero!

Yelp
Vintage! My Husband and I decided to spend our 18th marriage anniversary in Annapolis for the weekend. The pictures of this place online are adorable and quaint and I was looking forward to my stay here. This place has a total of 3 buildings with hotel rooms within walking distance. You have to go to one central location to get your room assignments and then the party begins. The front desk staff are really kind and helpful and the front Reception/ Reservation area was cute and quaint w plenty of seating in parlor area. Check In and Check Out was very fast, efficient and effortless.

Lisa P.

Yelp
I was expecting a stuffy old inn, but what I found was a lovely, well appointed inn with fantastic employees. From Mayra who (and another gentleman that I didn't catch his name) checked us in, to Ryan and Karson who were the valet staff who dropped us off at dinner and picked us up while telling us hot spots around town. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Historic Inns of Annapolis consists of three inns; we stayed in the Maryland House which was pretty decent for the price. The Calvert House is where you check in for all three of the inns & it's where the parking is. The room itself is small but comfortable as was the bed lol. Since Covid they don't clean the room every day which is to our liking. The biggest issue we had was the parking, apparently there is only one person who knows how to drive a standard who happened to be there on Saturday June 4th. When we checked out on the morning of June 7th the young man on duty said he couldn't drive it as it was a stick shift. He did ask the desk clerk who also didn't drive a standard. When his boss came to the desk we heard him ask if he could drive a standard he took the key and appeared to say he had it. Well after waiting for over 15 minutes our Porsche Boxter finally came up from the parking garage smoking & smelling of a burning clutch it was horrifying . So our advice to anyone with a standard car either ask first when the guy who has a Miata will be on duty and get his schedule or park it yourself! I do want to commend the young man who was on duty as he quickly said he could not drive a standard and was just as quick to apologize for something he had no control over. His attitude was so heartwarming and he is the reason I didn't give just one star. Annapolis is a beautiful & fun place to visit and other than the clutch situation we had a marvelous time and we'll definitely visit again!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying here to spend the weekend in Annapolis. Upon my arrival I was provided with a free room upgrade, a bottle of wine and some knickknacks from the Inn. This was all complementary. I really appreciated the receptionist going out of their way to make my weekend special, as this was my first time in Annapolis. The hotel was super cute and very clean.

Yelp
This review isn't negative about the hotel itself, that was great. My wife and I stayed here for our 1 year wedding anniversary for the weekend. The room was very small but its a historic hotel and we were going to be out and about all day, so who cares The valet guys were great and very helpful. They are also dog friendly which is a big plus for us! However, my wife got food poisoning (not from the hotel) and we decided to leave early to drive home. In the chaos of going to get my car, load the dog and luggage and tend to my wife, I forgot to grab my watch. Since the room was so small, my side of the bed did not have a bedside table I placed it on the ground directly next to the bed. It's a habit to take the watch off and leave it on the bedside table; last thing off at night and the first thing to go on in the morning. Remembering that I had done this I called the hotel early the day we were supposed to check out, prior to the checkout time, and tried to let them know what happened. Unfortunately, the woman I spoke to had a heavy accent and I don't think she understood what I was asking her to do. I left my info, style of watch, and was told I would get a call back. That was Sunday 6/11. Since then I have called every day, asked for managers, housekeeping, etc and have gotten no response or any help. The watch was a Garmin with GPS and unfortunately, the location has been turned off since I returned home and can no longer see where it is.. Really just a bummer that I wasn't able to speak to someone who could help and that they neglect their customers. Hopefully, someone there will ask the housekeeper who cleaned our room, since they keep records it, and we can get the watch back..

Yelp
Cancelled my reservation on March 23, which was almost 2 weeks before my arrival and well within the allowable timeframe to cancel. I was told I would receive my refund in 5 business days. My refund never came. I called on April 9, David who identified as the GM told me a new corporate policy is to hold all refunds for a minimum of 120 days. He told me there was nothing he could do to help me. There is nothing listed on the website or my cancellation confirmation email that says I need to wait 120 days to receive a refund. This is not a hospitality focused business. Beware!!

Yelp
My husband and I spent a night here this week. We're recent transplants to Annapolis and wanted a little getaway from the same 4 walls covid experience. We stayed in the Calvert part of the complex, and it was totally fine. Granted, we didn't have a lot invested, not having traveled far to get there, and we were in a low-key tolerant mood about this. I think if we'd had more at stake, we'd have been more put out by a few things, such as being told they set up a coffee service in the lobby at 8 AM, only to be told when I went down to get some at 8 the next morning that they were no longer serving coffee at 8 AM. Okay, this was decided between check in at 4PM the previous day and the very next morning? Pretty annoying! The room was clean and spacious, although very dark, even though there was a nice window with a view of a big magnolia tree. The king bed was comfortable, and the bathroom only adequate, but clean. Our room was in a quiet corner, no outside noise to contend with, which was great. Very chintzy on the complementary toiletries, but plenty of nice thick towels. No robes. They really need to up their game on amenities in the room. The one cup instant coffee maker was seriously awful. I mean, c'mon! That's pretty basic, especially when there was no longer any to be found in the lobby. Take Aways: Reasonably good value (around $130 for one night) but you pay for overnight valet parking, another $30 plus tip Great location for walking to shops, restaurants, the State House, and Main Street No frills, but clean, quiet, and comfortable

Dan K.

Yelp
Beautiful and comfortable room at the Calvert. Loved the historical archeological finds in the lobby and the glass floor that shows you how the basement heating system operated in the 1700's. We will be back!

Bob S.

Yelp
Have been coming here for years but this hotel is loosing its appeal. Sitting in my room right now with no internet or tv. Internet didn't work right from when I checked in and so I called the desk to let them know. They said, "No, the internet is working." What? "No it's not." I replied. Yes, it is and sorry your having trouble." Then they hung up. WTF!? So I went down to the desk and they couldn't get it on their phones. Then a little while later the TV went to static and then each and every station selection came with a message that it was unavailable. I'm hesitant to call the front desk now.

therese w.

Yelp
No breakfast. At this price! Covid-shmovid. That's just cheap of them. And the coffee they provided was the worst. Of course there is coffee in the room but those terrible little creamers that taste of chemicals.

Ethan G.

Yelp
We stayed at the Maryland Inn. We checked in at the Calvert House and then drove a few minutes over to the Maryland Inn. A parking attendant met us there and, after we took our bags out of the car, the attendant parked our car under the Calvert House. Interesting but efficient. The room was clean and easy to find. There are no staff in the building but this didn't cause us any trouble. While the rooms seem recently renovated, the lobby and common rooms are drastically outdated and in need of some help. Red bubble letters spelling "Welcome" on the wall had the same vibe as a church hall bulletin board. Nevertheless, the room itself was clean and comfortable. Would stay here again.

Tayo F.

Yelp
This place is pretty good for what you pay for. Its right in the circle next of the state house, it's got very hospitable staff, especially the guys out front who braved the sun and the rain while we were there with a smile on their face. They had this cool glass bottom room from its olden days and the rooms are well furnished. Slightly pricy in my opinion but I'll chock that up to their location

Megan Marie M.

Yelp
I stayed at Gov. Calvert House and it was marvelous. The hotel is super close to everything - from restaurants and coffee shops to souvenir shops and church - they are walking distance away. My room was wonderful, it was very clean and comfortable. It also feels amazing to think about the history of this hotel and being able to stay there. The room was very comfortable - the interior keeping the quaint historical design but also well maintained and modern to keep up with the times. The staff members who stood out were Victor, Jax and Estefany. They really made my stay very comfortable and made my trip extra special. They were very attentive, accommodating and friendly. I needed something for my room during the day and Estefany was quick to communicate this with Victor who gave me the things I needed. There were other times that I needed toiletries and Victor was quick to provide me with them. At night, Jax was wonderful. Working as a night shift nurse, my meal time would be at 3am or 4am. Jax was kind enough to heat up my food for two nights (or early mornings, should I say) in a row and she also gave me water. She was very friendly and accommodating. The warm fire place by the lobby also made everything feel so cozy, especially from someone who was coming from warm-weathered Texas! Everyone was very nice and really provided service with a smile. Even when I checked out they offered to help me with my luggage; so from the time I checked in to the moment I stepped out of the hotel, it was a very nice experience.

Angela K.

Yelp
Nice historic hotel with a cool history behind it. Great location, walking distance to everything (shopping, food, attractions, waterfront). Comfortable and clean room. Great bed! Working cold A/C. Complimentary water bottles, nice touch!

Jackie P.

Yelp
I have stayed here 3 times now... twice at the Calvert House and once at the Maryland Inn. The valets and front desk are super nice and very helpful. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds are decked out in white sheets and the bathrooms are so nice. Both hotels have downstairs and in-room coffee for you. The Drummer's Lot bar and Treaty of Paris restaurant in the Maryland are both enjoyable and the breakfast is excellent. These inns are right on the circles and walking distance to much of the downtown area. You do feel like you've taken a step back in time. A great place to visit especially if you enjoy history.

Wendy L.

Yelp
Checked in early, which was nice. Came to room in the Robert Johnson building and something told me to check the bed. You could tell by the pillows, the hairs on the bed and pillow that the linens were NEVER changed! Well, we go out and were told that the linens were changed. The pillow cases were, but when I pulled the blanket back, guess what? Same sheet!!! There was a spot I made note of and it was still there!!! Gross!! They are supposed to come back and change the bed AGAIN. The shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom were half used. Unacceptable in the time of COVID!! NEVER AGAIN!! Disgusting!!!

Michael W.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I am a friendly guy- had a great time meeting locals around town. But, every person I met at this hotel had attitude. Even when they overcharged me and I called, they acted like they were doing me a favor by correcting their mistake. Location is nice, but the room was a broom closet for $250. Will definitely come back to cute Annapolis, but will definitely avoid this hotel in the future.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Loved my stay in the Robert Johnson building! Very quiet and comfortable for a 6 night stay. Bed was very comfy and AC could be easily adjusted. Very soundproof. Great blackout curtains and a view of the state building. The convenient location can't be beat. Harley was awesome and managed to secure a microwave for me. Thank you!

Pegah Y.

Yelp
We stayed at the Historic Inns of Annapolis when we visited Annapolis, MD in May. We loved the historic and boutique feel of the hotel and loved that the hotel is comprised of three historic buildings spread across the cobblestoned street across from the Maryland State House. We stayed at the Robert Johnson House, which was a Georgian-style inn. Our hotel room was clean, comfortable, and decorated elegantly. I think the best thing about this hotel is its proximity to Main Street in Annapolis. We literally had to walk outside and half a block through a cobblestoned alley to get right on to Main Street, with a ton of restaurants, shops, etc in Annapolis! It's only a 10-minute walk from the Harbor area and literally right across the street from the Maryland State House. They do valet parking (no street parking, obviously) and it was an easy process. Booking, checking in, and checking out of the hotel were incredibly easy. We truly enjoyed the night we spent at the Historic Inns of Annapolis and I would love to stay there again when visiting Annapolis! If you are looking to stay in the heart of historic Annapolis, the Historic Inns of Annapolis is the perfect lodging for you!

Jamie S.

Yelp
Overwhelmed with the customer service the staff and management provided prior to our arrival. We have been staying here for years while attending the Annapolis Sailboat Show. Walking into our suite, I was awestruck by its size and elegance! We will never stay anywhere else while in Annapolis!!! Thank you!!!

Greg K.

Yelp
Such a great hotel and service! I've stayed at the Calvert House before and enjoyed it, but was extremely impressed with my latest stay! After driving two days up from Miami, I was quite exhausted. Joe at the front desk, was very gracious, and must have noticed the tired look on my face. Besides being very friendly and helpful, he also upgraded my room, such a nice treat!! The hotel itself is quite historic and beautifully kept. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean, and it is an archaeological treasure, well worth exploring.

Bennie L.

Yelp
The redeeming factors were the location to restaurants and shops, and the staff was nice. However the woman who checked us in did not tell us that the elevator in our building, which was on the other side of the circle, was not working. So after moving all of our luggage around the block, we had to carry each piece up stairs. It was exhausting and stressful. The room was small, but clean.

Ilene G.

Yelp
Stayed at Historic Inns of Annapolis, Govenor Cavert on our way to Va. It was wonderful. I highly recommend it. Next door restaurant Harry Browne is a great place to have dinner during your stay. It is also an easy walk to the Naval Academy. Across the street from the Maryland State House and a few block from the waterfront.

Phillip P.

Yelp
We held a Naval Academy company reunion reception and dinner in the Treaty of Paris Room for 20+ persons. The food and service was excellent -- many thanks to Cruz and the kitchen and serving team. I worked with Michelle V to organize the event and she was *outstanding* -- incredibly helpful in helping me think through our dinner options, organizing the room, etc. The whole team was friendly, helpful and professional. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This was my second time staying with HIoA and it started off a bit rocky, but they made up for it. First off, our first stay was in the Maryland House building. It was nice, but nothing special, other than the convenience of having a Starbucks right in the basement. Our second stay was in the Robert Johnson house. On first impression, I liked the Robert Johnson better than the Maryland. Had a cooler look and feel. We dropped our bags in the room, which was very hot @ 78 degrees), cranked the air, and went down to the shops and the water for the afternoon. Returned at 6:00 to find the room had now reached 85 degrees with the AC on full blast. Was a bit concerned as we had dinner reservations at 7:00 and can't deal with a room at 80+ degrees in the summertime. Called the front desk and they sent over an engineer in about 15 mins to take a look. The engineer was really nice, but decided after trouble shooting for a bit, that this was going to take a while. He took the liberty of calling the front desk, having our room changed, and then he actually ran over to the main building to pick up our new key. If you haven't been here before, it's kind of a unique situation. There are three buildings you can stay in, but there is just one front desk in one building. Once you initially check in, valet drives you and drops you off at one of the houses. So logistics of this room swapping thing got me nervous. So I called the dinner restaurant and pushed our dinner res from 7:00 to 8:00, so that wasn't a problem. The engineer returns dripping with sweat, and gives us our new keys to the new room, and he stays to work on the AC in the old room. Now it gets good... they gave us a free upgrade to a huge suite! It was two floors and probably well over 1000 SF. Has two full baths, living room and bedroom. I tried to find this suite on their website and they don't even have it listed. I'm guessing it's for wedding guests etc. Anyway, has classic historical design, chandeliers, direct access to the halls on the 1st and 2nd floor, as well as outside access with a little porch. Really nice upgrade for us. Their management team turned what could have been a very negative experience into a great recovery. Will definitely stay here again. Adding some pics of the suite as well.

Yelp
This place is creepy for more reasons than one. I got to Annapolis late. The front desk said my room is located in another bldg that doesn't have front desk. I get there and I immediately feel like this place is eery. Old. Reminded me of Scene from haunted house in Disneyland. I get to my room. And I just get chills. And say to myself this is going to be a longgg night. Tired, I take a shower and about ready to sleep and pull the covers and a bug about the half the size of pinky pops out from the pillows. I kill it immediately leaving a yellow stain. I called the front desk and she said they have another vacant room next door. While waiting I check the top of bed to see if there are any other bugs and I see a small tick size bug with its tiny legs moving lol. When security finally came i had my bags packed ready to move to the other room. He came inside the room to inspect with me and first thing we see?? Another bug bigger and resembling a coachroach scurry off. The front desk ask if I want to checkout. At 1230 at night? Lol they said all there rooms are booked. After more probing the manager offers a double bed room in another bldg. I said let's go try it. The security guy tries to reassure me that this next bldg is better and the one we were at always Gave him creeps when having to do rounds at 4 am lol. The room I end up staying in was pretty much same but larger with very loud noise (air conditioning?) and did not feel clean. Pillows felt Damp and smelled of other v people. but had no choice as I had work 6 in the morning. When I called the front desk later in the morning and told them I'm checking out early, they never once apologized (since the night before). I explained to the new manager what I endured and before I can say "..and for that reason I want to check out" she goes "what's your point." Verbatim. So I said I want to check out early. She says thank you for bringing up to our attention have a nice day. Old building. worst possible customer service as highlighted here.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here for Fourth of July weekend and we were a bit disappointed. We stayed in the Maryland house (about a 5 minute walk from where you check-in, which is slightly inconvenient, especially if the weather is bad) and the room was very small and everything extremely old and not well cared for. There were 100 coats of paint on every surface, cracks in the wall and baseboard, and the window shades were unable to be opened so there was no natural light. When they renovated, you can tell they were cheap about it. After the fireworks, we came back to our hotel parched (it was one of the hottest days that summer), there was no potable water to drink and all of the stores around us were closed. I called the front desk and asked if they could bring up a few bottles of water and was told that she was the only person working and that she could not leave the Calvert house. I was obviously not happy about this, but she offered complimentary breakfast at the restaurant below Maryland house (Treaty of Paris?) for the trouble. The catch was that we had to pick up the vouchers from Calvert house (so...leave Maryland house- go to Calvert house- come back to Maryland house)not quite convenient or relaxing while on vacation. However, the best thing about our stay was that breakfast at Treaty of Paris, the food was phenomenal and it almost made up for the severe dehydration the previous night. TLDR- Wouldn't stay again, might check out Treaty of Paris for lunch or dinner

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COST UNLESS ARMAGEDDON IS HAPPENING !!!! Then you won't care about customer service. I booked a room for my wife and I for a weekend getaway several days in advance. Much to my surprise the room I had a confirmation for was not available. I had printed the confirmation receipt for reference upon our arrival. So to try and accommodate my wife and I, they offered us a smaller room. They (MK) did not offer a discounted rate for their mistake OR for the smaller room. Which was smaller than my son's bedroom. Being that it was late I accepted the room. But that wasn't the end of their surprises. The next morning I checked my credit card transactions and noticed that they charged my card 4 times the cost of our stay. Of course I called for an explanation and was promptly told that I was wrong, and that they did not charge me that much. I let Daryl know that he was was wrong because I was staring at my card transaction history while I had him on the phone. Needless to say we ended up cancelling the rest of our stay. And the cherry on top of this crap sunday was my wife and I sat outside of the Inn looking like 2 carpet baggers waiting for a good 20 minutes for our car to be delivered to us by the valet. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

Yelp
Our stay was luxurious. The super comfortable beds and soft pillows were dreamy. The rooms are beautiful, very clean and stocked with plenty of towels. The location is perfect to walk around beautiful Annapolis and right next to the quaint shops on Maryland Ave. The staff is very friendly, helpful. The Best Hotel !!!!

Yelp
Once again, our weekend in Annapolis went off without a flaw. My husband and I come here 2 times a summer just to get away. We only live 20 miles from here. Everything is perfect. The room was exquisite. The staff strived for perfection. Kevin is a master of customer relations and Mary runs a well oiled housekeeping staff that are kind, considerate, clean and thorough. It is always our pleasure to spend a long weekend here.

Yelp
Reserved Governor Calvert King room, arrived at front at Governor Calvert and was greeted by a Valet, very friendly young man who was very helpful. When I went to check in I was given keys to room and I was told that my room was in another INN across the circle. Told her I reserved the room at this INN and she told me "They don't have rooms at this Inn"? Than she said they upgraded my room. I was PISSED! Got to this shoe box with peeling wallpaper (they charge you 10.00 extra for upkeep of Inns) and a bathroom the size of a matchbox. UPGRADE? Really? So this was either "Bait and Switch" or Someones money was better than mine. Look I am not telling you not to stay here, just beware...

Yelp
We went to Annapolis for the weekend and stayed at the Robert Johnson house. The Inn was super cute, super well decorated and comfortable. The staff was nice when we needed things and we were lucky enough to get there early and valet our car so we could not deal with it over the weekend. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was good.

Yelp
This review is for the Treaty of Paris Restaurant and it posted there as well. The restaurant is part of the Historic Inns of Annapolis, and the Inn is connected to our problem, so we bosted it here so that anyone in a similar situation would be able to view it. We held our wedding reception at the Historic Inns back in 2008 and it was very nice. The venue was great and I would recommend the Inns for hosting an event. At the time we were given a gift certificate for dinner at the Treaty of Paris Restaurant. Before we were able to use the gift certificate, we were transferred to the West Coast. We recently moved back to the Maryland area and were hoping to be able to use it on our upcoming anniversary, but the restaurant has said they will no longer honor it. I understand it is well outside a year from when it was issued, but given the circumstances it would have been really nice if they had chosen to honor it. When you take into consideration the amount we ended up spending on the reception and the number of our guests that ended up staying with them, it really is a shame. One star for customer service in a military town.

Yelp
My Wife and I arrived, we parked in the circle and we walked to the main building. That's where we met Mr. Lawrence. He was working the front desk, one of the most polite and personable men we had ever encountered. To celebrate our wedding he presented us with a complimentary brunch voucher. We couldn't of been happier. He was very helpful and very funny, we felt comfortable quickly. We got to our building and found our room, it was full of character and very clean. The historical detail and decor really made us feel like we had stepped back into the 1770's. Everything was fresh and we had no complaints. I highly recommend the Historic inn for anyone looking to stay in Annapolis. We had a great weekend, everyone we encountered was polite and helpful, the food was amazing as well. Hopefully we get the chance to go back one day!

Yelp
(First, whether you stay here or not: Walk in like you are, turn left at the front desk and get a tall glass of fresh lemonade. Delicious.) Saddened by our experience here. Seemed nice. And the facilities aren't bad considering how old they are (that's the charm that draws people in). And if you require great location, in Annapolis I am not sure there is better. The big downers were that valet parking is required. There are no other options. $24 per night. Plus tips. To big for my budget. Also, half the rooms face inward, to an atrium. This atrium hosts weddings, and receptions. Receptions with loud, dj-driven, bass-bumping music late into the night hours. (THIS IS YOUR WARNING!) The hours that your four-year-old needs to be sleeping. AKA, not great for families. Simple fixes that would help are: Better breakfast options Easy to use WiFi Channel guide in room Bible in room More queen beds as opposed to full ...all fairly standard in today's hotel stays.

Yelp
Daryl, Your valet did execute an inspection and claim check upon check-in of my vehicle and determined no damages (I signed off on this) but he did not provide a copy to me...not sure why your valet service refuses to now provide this claim check form, of a clean/undamaged vehicle upon check-in, with my insurance company. Very suspicious and unethical business practices!

Yelp
Once again, great customer service wins the day. When initially planning our stay, we needed to ensure the room size we needed was available. Our request was quickly accommodated and the staff member Caitlin even remembered to follow up and ensured our needs were indeed met. All staff members were genuinely kind and helpful. We stayed in the Governor Calvert House and found it clean and comfortable. Free Wifi was a breeze to use and double double room was good size. Hotel is well located to local restaurants and across the street from the state house. We lucked out and managed to find street parking nearby all three nights of our stay, but it was mere luck. Others may want to plan on using the public parking options a bit of a walk away or valet. We had a lovely stay and will be glad to return.

Yelp
I stayed at the Maryland Inn this past week for a business meeting. The staff is very friendly and they do their best to engage you and share tips about the area. You have to check-in first at the Governor Calvert House. After check-in, valet drove me to my inn. After settling in my room, I received a call from the front desk to make sure everything was ok. I stayed in a single room, and it was just right for me. The meeting room was just right for less than 25 people. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the property. This is a great location for a small business meeting. Annapolis is fun for exploring and shopping. There are a lot of inclines and old brick sidewalks. Watch your step! I want to return with my family, but I have reservations about my mother getting around with her walker. Just a heads up, if you have ADA concerns. I will definitely visit again!

Yelp
My husband and I had a lovely stay at this inn recently. Kevin, who was working the desk all weekend, was very accommodating to our last minute reservation. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice (AC worked just fine). We had a wonderful time and would stay there again, 100%.

Yelp
I've stayed in the Historic Inns before and had what I would have described as acceptable experiences, but they really blew it this weekend. Since reserving a room with them several months ago, I called them three times to confirm that it would be a room with two double beds. But when I arrived and tried to confirm with the young woman at the front desk that we had received a room with two double beds, she informed me that they had no more available. When I made it clear that I would be in a very uncomfortable, totally unacceptable sleeping situation, she basically shrugged her shoulders and offered me two twin rollaway beds--which cost $10 a night a piece! I communicated my displeasure, and she offered to waive the fee. When I arrived in my room, there were to the two rollaway beds, as promised, but literally nowhere to unfold them; they barely fit into the room when they were folded up. I called back to the front desk and asked "Um... do you usually accommodate rollaway beds in these rooms?" To which she responded in a somewhat snotty voice, "No, but I thought I would make an exception for you." Regardless of whether she wanted to make an exception for me or not, there was no room to unfold even one of the beds. When I told her that, she expressed absolutely no surprise and asked me to wheel them back out into the hall so they could be taken away. At this point, I was starting to panic, when I discovered that another friend of ours was staying in the room next door by herself, but for no reason and free of charge had been upgraded to a huge suite with a hide-a-bed couch. Explain that to me. I requested two beds and after confirming that twice (!), I show up to a tiny room with ONE bed in it and my friend, who had made no such request, was upgraded to a suite with an extra bed. I'm furious. It's very fortunate that my friend was kind enough to share her suite, because otherwise, we would have had a serious problem on our hands. The hotel made absolutely no attempt to rectify the situation and seemed to take no responsibility for the mistake. Not one person said, "I'm sorry." I'll never stay there again.

Yelp
Check in one location then walk 8 blocks to your hotel room? Old structures that need refurbished. Price is reasonable being in Annapolis is great but there are far better choices

Yelp
We had such a lovely time. We stayed in the Calvert House and couldn't recommend it more highly. Our room looked to the outside but we do know that there are rooms that look over the inside atrium. We found the front desk staff to be delightful and very willing to help. They serve complementary coffee every morning in one of the parlors. This is perfect walking distance to the downtown Annapolis waterfront (just a couple blocks).
