The owners of this inn really know how to make their guests feel welcome in their gorgeous home, from the chocolate chip cookies offered on arrival, to the complimentary mint julep in the late afternoon, to the chocolates in the room, the refrigerated water bottles and sodas in the room... all very nice touches that show how they care about their guests. We were worried about the grand father clock in the hallway that seemed to sound off every quarter, but the owners must have stopped it during the night as we didn't hear it after 10pm.
Our room (the master suite downstairs) was large and beautiful, comfortable bed, beautiful antique furniture (as in the rest of the house). The only weak point would be the shower that takes a very long time to get warm water and has such a low water flow that it took us forever to rinse off, but you can hardly hold that against the hosts...
The rest of the house is beautifully decorated with some pieces original to the house and the rest from the owners personal collection.
The grounds are nicely landscaped with several beautiful fountains. It was too hot to fully enjoy the outdoors but we chose to have our mint julep by the fountain and it was incredibly refreshing...
There are several restaurants within walking distance, as well as several mansions you can tour.
Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a b&b, with eggs benedict, banana foster flavored french toast, fresh strawberries, coffee and orange juice. One of the owners sat down with us at the breakfast table and gave us a quick history of the town and the house, recommended a few places of interest to visit. Very knowledgeable and personable, gracious without being overbearing.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and would enjoy staying there again.
