Our stay at the historic Wailuku Inn was absolutely wonderful. The customer service was incredibly kind and accommodating, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. The room felt private, peaceful, and surprisingly luxurious, with thoughtful touches that made the whole experience feel special. It’s a beautiful place full of character, and the quiet, tucked-away setting made it the perfect retreat. We can’t wait to come back!

Google
A really wonderful B&B. The room was big and super comfortable and the breakfast everyday was different and delicious. The staff we saw were all super friendly but it’s not a manned hotel which worked well for us. Wailuku is a great central place to stay in Maui to access all the different places to see. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a base to go out and explore from.

Google
Absolutely the best stay we had on Maui! The communication was amazing, the historic inn, grounds, rooms etc. were immaculate and the breakfast and staff was fabulous. They made sure everything was just right for our stay. It was the perfect way to celebrate our 25th anniversary and we are so glad we picked this place. We can’t wait to come back here again!

Google
Cannot recommend this lovely inn enough! It is truly an oasis of calm and tranquility in the middle of a traditional Hawaiian Wailuku Neighbourhood. It has all of the charm and ambience of old Hawaii with all the modern amenities of today and a beautiful breakfast to boot! This is a true gem in Maui accommodations, especially if huge resorts ( and price tags) are not your vibe.

Google
The stay was just ok. This place is essentially a "luxury airbnb". I'm not sure I would have paid as much as we did if I knew the situation. When we arrived, there was no one around. We couldn't figure out where to go or how to get in. We called a number posted outside and were given instructions on how to get in with a door code. The rest of the information about the property we found online. It also took contacting the manager to get the wifi password. We never got a "stay guide" Our car got hit in the parking lot. Management couldn't find out who did it on the cameras out front. Additionally, our patio was under construction through our entire stay. Early morning hammering with people right outside the room all week wasn't ideal. The walls are paper thin so you'll hear everything. This matches most of the other feedback - our room was nice. The breakfast and cleaning staff were so lovely! I wouldn't stay again but it was an ok find. I hope they improve the guest experience soon.

Stayed at the Puakenikeni Suite with my husband for a night. We enjoyed the easy self check-in process, and our time exploring the permises. The suite was clean and well equipped for our stay. The management team provided all necessary info prior to our stay. The only thing I would say was a bit underwhelmed was the chef-prepared breakfast. Didn’t quite match the photo nor the description on the website. Overall we had a wonderful experience there and would recommend the inn if you’re looking for an unique experience and staying at a historic inn.

Google
I would give this 10 stars if I could!!!!! Absolutely gorgeous-5 star resort type experience. Beautiful furniture, luxurious linens, comfy bed. All seems very new but in a historic sense-furniture reminded me of captains quarters on old sailing vessel. Nice AC, gorgeous shower. Breakfast was delicious-gardens and grounds beautifully maintained. Orchid and blooming trees of all kinds. Very thoughtfully Arranged and organized. They even had a carafe of water waiting for us. And the coffee makers were actual Keurig with recognizable brands for the k- cups. If we go back to Maui, I will consider staying there, regardless of where we travel on the island. It is worth a visit back in and of itself.

Google
If you need is a clean, comfy room for a night or two, then this is a good spot. It’s a cute, charming and well kept B&B with virtual host that’s located close by the airport. This was suitable for me since I was there on business vs pleasure. With no reception or front desk, it feels a bit like a luxe Airbnb. No housekeeping too so I probably wouldn’t stay more than 2 nights as I like fresh towels and a made bed. That said, host was very helpful and responsive via text. Parking is free but tight, so wouldn’t bring a large car. Inn is not handicap accessible. Suggestions for owners: - Extend breakfast beyond 8-9, inconvenient at current minimal time slot - Offer an option for fresh towels or be upfront that this won’t be provided - Offer a self serve happy hour like glasses of wine or nibbles around 3-5pm which might go a long way with guests given the limited breakfast time frame and lack of onsite staff

Yelp
I am so happy I decided to book this cute bed and breakfast for a few days while in Maui! My favorite thing about the stay was the wonderful home cooked breakfast that was different each day. The only thing I was a bit upset about was that we couldn't open the windows in our room (only in the bathroom). But other than that, everything was perfect!

Yelp
This B&B is not closed! It just reopened after a lengthy renovation I was lucky to get a room there. The rooms are all brand new, very clean and well appointed. Spacious bathroom, coffee and refrigerator in the room air-conditioning and everything is brand new The registration and instructions for access, etc. were very easy and the proprietor is very accommodating And the price is much less than the other resorts, and it is centrally located for access to Waialea upcountry, Kahului, etc.

Yelp
Truly an overdue review of this amazing B&B. While looking for an affordable, yet nice place to stay during our trip to Maui, I discovered The Old Wailuku Inn. The pictures all looked very nice, and the reviews were all great, so I decided to take a chance and book this B&B instead of one of the major resort hotels. Initially while driving down to this area, we were not sure if the GPS was mistaken, because we found ourselves driving through a residential area through very narrow roads. Upon pulling up, the outside looked like residential homes and we were a bit confused as to which house we were suppose to enter after grabbing our keys. After figuring out the correct house and entering, we went through a short, tiny hallway that looked rather old and dated. Our room was the first room down, and upon entering, was pleasantly surprised that the room itself was very clean, inviting, and most importantly, air conditioned. Inside the rooms, there was a plate of cookies that greeted us everyday after housekeeping cleaned our rooms. As well as a reusable bag for us to keep and use while on the island (go green!) and a bottle of water. In addition, the B&B offered free breakfast in the morning. Because me and my friend was volunteering at a nearby animal farm sanctuary and had to head out pretty early every morning, the owners very generously accommodated us by making custom breakfast just for us that was ready by 7:30 every morning. I was initially expecting either a continental breakfast, or basic muffins and bagels. But instead, we were treated to amazing breakfast dishes every morning consisting of fresh fruit, delicious, homemade blueberry waffles w/ macadamia nuts, and a wealth of other dishes that changed every day that we were there. They also have two refrigerators upstairs, a mini-one stocked with free drinks for guests, and the other one for guests to use to keep their food and drinks cold. And although I didn't notice it until the last day of our stay, there is also a basket of clean beach towels near the "lobby" area for guests to take and use while they visited the beach. Overall an amazing stay and one I would gladly repeat during my next trip to Maui!

Yelp
Outstanding, adorable, and beautiful... this will be my go to ... what a gem hidden in the center of Maui... I loved my stay... oh and the breakfasts well crafted delicious and bountiful... the walnut banana pancakes....amazing!

Yelp
We had stayed here the week before new years and it was a very unexpected pleasant surprise how nice it was. The property was quiet and very homey feeling, which is a good thing in my opinion. The room was nice and cozy with evening being clean. I would recommend this place, hands down, over some other hotels in the area. The breakfast each was delicious. Thank you Old Wailuku Inn Hopefully we can stay again in the future. Paul C.

Yelp
Frankly, I did not know what to expect when I arrived in Maui because my wife booked everything. After staying in Old Wailuku Inn for 2 nights, I want to say, you should definitely consider this place when you visit. Tom and his team clearly care about what they do and operate with hearts and cares. Breakfast is delivered to your room and it tasted great! Coffee is brewed and ready to go in the common area. When we were having breakfast in the garden, Tom approached to offer recommendations. I really want to spread the words for this place since good business and people deserve a shout-out! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great stay for our first trip to Maui as the location was in the middle of Maui and close to the airport, Iao Valley, grocery stores, and gas stations! The stay itself was pleasant, and it felt like you were staying with family. Our room (Miulana) was beautiful, had an amazing shower, and was so nice to retreat to after our activities-filled days. The breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, and you could eat it in your room or can go into the main house. The entire B&B is well maintained and has lovely views from the 2nd floor as we ate our breakfast. Complimentary coffee is available in the mornings. Mahalo Janice, Tom, and Shelly! We would totally stay here again and we hope this inn stays open for many, many years!

Yelp
Maui is an expensive island and all hotels & Airbnb options were looking to be too much money. I did some search and stumbled upon The Old Wailuku Inn; I searched through the photos, reviewed the comments, and decided that this was the spot for us. During our stay, we did not get to join in on the breakfast option provided each morning at 8am, but Janice was kind enough to get a to-go option on one of the mornings we had indicated we would want a breakfast ready. The inn is clean and the room was spacious, we stayed in the Mokihana room. The Kind size bed is huge and bit too soft for my liking, I felt as if I sank in a bit. There was plenty of closet space; the bathroom had a tub/shower. Each day after our room had been cleaned, the staff would always leave a coupled of delicious cookies on the desk. There was also a snack jar, drinks for guests to enjoy in the common area. A communal fridge for guests to store their own food, leftovers, drinks, etc. they provided beach towels, cooler bags, & ice. Although we were up early almost every day of our trip and back late to have time to enjoy the inn truly, I could see myself coming back here again and doing it all over. I hope that next time participating in the breakfasts and enjoying the beautiful property a little more.

Yelp
Wow. My best friend and I stayed here for a couple nights, and it felt like we were staying with family. The place is beautiful, the hospitality is top notch, and the vibe is peaceful. We loved every moment of our time there and wish we would've booked it longer!
google avatar

Yelp
It's very very cute, and very very old, just like Grandma's house. The lacey curtains and the colorful quilt inside the room further emphasize the age. The bathrooms are new and remodeled and super clean. Rooms are spacious and come with shelves of books for your entertainment, ranging from travel, to cooking, to soft porn, to sewing. In the morning they serve a mean breakfast with fresh fruits. I really felt well taken care of here. Just remember this is not your standard Hawaii resorty place.

Yelp
Last weekend we stayed at the Old Wailuku Inn. We absolutely love staying at this historical little bed and breakfast. We are repeat visitors and have probably stayed in every room there. The best are the ones with the multi-head showers. The top one is like standing under a waterfall. Absolutely refreshing and relazing! You will not want to leave your room! The owners Janice and Tom always recognize us and are always so sweet and personable. We enjoy our daily morning chats with them as they serve all of their guests breakfast. They are centrally located in Wailuku in a convenient yet secluded area off of the main highway. I highly recommend you to stay here on your next trip to Maui. You will not regret it! Food: **** Service: ***** Ambiance: ***** Value: ****

Yelp
I would not hesitate to recommend the Old Wailuku Inn to anyone who is open to a "non-beach" accommodation in Maui. I, for one, am glad that G and I found this little bed and breakfast in Central Maui (about 15 minutes from the Kahului airport) as opposed to staying at one of the big, expensive beach resorts in Kaanapali or Wailea. We stayed in the master suite - the Ulu Room - which was comfortable and very well-kept. We were there just days before Christmas and found the holiday decor to be delightful to the point that it was a bit much (we had Christmas pillows on our bed and Santas on our shelves!) The Ulu Room's bathroom, with a shower, whirlpool, vanity, and sink/toilet, is enormous -- almost half of the size of the bedroom itself. Over breakfast, we met both fellow travelers and locals alike: Big Island residents taking a vacation, young couples on their honeymoons, and a Maui gal who was getting her wedding photos taken on the property (that's testimony to how gorgeous and well-restored the inn is.) Breakfasts featured local foods like passion fruit butter, starfruit, Portugese sausage, sweet potatoes, and papaya. I ate everything with relish. The personalized attention to detail here is what I liked most: up-to-date guidebooks in our room, snacks/water for the road, giant beach towels, and calls/emails from the innkeepers to check on us before our stay. I look forward to returning to this inn on future trips to Maui.

Sagar S.

Yelp
It's such a beautiful inn, very comfortable, very nice and clean and is pretty much in the middle of island. The hosts are very friendly and made us feel at home. The breakfast was delicious. We will definitely come back and stay here again. P.S. dont forget to go and sit in the quiet porch and enjoy a coffee or tea with a book to read.

Yelp
My husband and I just stayed at the Old Wailuku Inn. From the minute we entered the Inn until our departure, Tom and Janis treated us like we were royalty. I would suggest you make your stay here on Maui. Comfortable, beautiful, relaxing atmosphere and amazing food and snacks! We will stay here again!! Thank you Tom and Janis!! You made our stay memorable! Fred and Nico

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay. The Inn is beautiful and convenient to most sites that you will want to visit on the island. The owners Janice, Tom and Shelly were very helpful in answering all our questions and in providing recommendations for dinner. The breakfast was excellent. We appreciated the AAA discount and room upgrade!

Yelp
I can't add much to what others have said. This place is great. The proprietors and staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are fabiloust. I stayed in the Hibiscus room, which is smallish but charmingly decorated and just fine for 1 or 2, with its own private patio. They keep an abundant supply of cold drinks and snacks for guests to help themselves to anytime. My only small quibble was that the mattress was a bit too soft for my aging back. But if you're visiting Wailuku, this is the place to stay.

Yelp
This is a wonderful B&B in Old Town, away from the crowds. For an authentic and affordable stay in Maui, this delightful abode provides great value. I loved just walking around the neighborhood in the mornings and evenings. Hearing the coo of exotic birds and feeling the gentle breeze of the trade winds reminded me of my childhood summers in Manoa. My husband and I stayed in the Ulu room, which was air conditioned and had a very large bathroom. I loved the Kenui quilt on the bed - such gorgeous Hawaiian blankets! Shelly was our friendly hostess and she greeted us each morning in the dining room, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Guests were welcome to help themselves to snacks and drinks during the rest of the day, and even provided with beach towels. There is a lovely little garden in the backyard too, replete with beautiful Hawaiian flowers. The house has charm and character, and reflects the vintage aspects of old town in a very positive way. It's also not too far from airport either. I would absolutely stay again.

Yelp
We stayed at the inn for a week and loved the unique experience that they offered. We loved having breakfast with the other guests each morning, learning about what they had done the pervious day and gathering excellent recommendations for activities and restaurants. The inn was clean and provided towels, sunscreen, and other necessary Maui adventure items. Also, it is in a central location so it was easy to drive to popular destinations in an hour or less. We loved our time here and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Just booked a second stay at this charming B&B. My hubby prefers the amenities of a hotel, but since we are going for my BD I get to choose Whoo Hoo! Last time we stayed in the Plumeria room it was quaint and quiet - we actually walked all the way down to the mall and back - had to work off that milkshake from Ruby's Diner! The breakfast was good-coffee is always welcome in my book - the snacks provided were a nice touch. My favorite memory was buying champagne and cheese/crackers from Guava Gouda and Caviar and having our own private picnic on the lanai - I really can't wait to go back - Happy Birthday to me!
google avatar

River F.

Yelp
They answer the phone and seem really sweet. $165 to $195 a night is pricey and a little smug for Wailuku. Great spot to put your parents up when they come to Maui to bail you out of Jail and pay your court fees for getting too free. Lawyers will love the hot tub after a long day wheeling and dealing with the Maui's Kangaroo Court system.
google avatar

Tom K.

Yelp
I stayed here with my wife recently because we wanted to try something different from the Ka'anapali resorts where we have stayed in the past. This was our first time staying at a B&B anywhere and we loved it. The house is very nice inside. The two breakfasts we had were excellent and it was quite fun chatting with the other guests and the owner (Tom). We stayed in the Ulu Room, which is big and has a whirlpool in the bathroom. Granted it is not on the beach, but it is a nice central location for driving to Hana, Haleakala, and Wailea. They were running a special when we stayed, so we paid about $160 per night (two night minimum stay), and overall I thought this was a good value.

Yelp
If you are looking for a charming, cozy, and welcoming stay while in Maui, this is definitely the place! Janice and Tom have gone above and beyond to think of everything (from beach towels to complimentary snacks and drinks) to make your stay easy, relaxing, and the most enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and we had a great time conversing with the other visitors and getting ideas of what to do each day. Very sad to be leaving, we will definitely be back!

Yelp
I can't get enough of this place. Come here for work several times a year and Janice and her team are simply the best. Every room has its own charm. I'm staying in Miulana today and am loving the shower! Wall jets and an overhead! Plus a private lanai for me to have my coffee. Mahalo Ulupono!
google avatar

D. V.

Yelp
I was in late and out early every morning, so I only spoke with Tom, who is as pleasant as anyone you're going to meet. They accommodated my bizarre schedule and provided an alternative breakfast for me every morning at 05:00. Room was private and had a really nice secluded patio attached to it. (Hibiscus room). Make your reservations early, as I've tried to go back but have they have not had the vacancy.

Yelp
This was the most amazing place to stay. We arrived not knowing what to expect and felt at home right away. The rooms were amazing. Very warm and cozy. Every morning there is a breakfast for all the guest. This was an amazing experience for 2 reasons. First reason being that the food was amazing. Home cooked meals while on vacation was a very pleasant suprise. Second being the information and conversation you got with the fellow guests. This is a must stay while in maui. You won't find a better place

Yelp
I can't express how much I enjoyed my 7 night stay at the Old Wailuku Inn at Ulupono. We stayed in the Ulupono room which was convenient and very quiet. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was large with a great shower and whirlpool tub. The breakfast was off the chart. I couldn't wait the see the beautiful presentation each morning. The best part of all was meeting the owners. Tom, Janice and Shelly went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. This was my first stay at a Bed and Breakfast ever but can't imagine any other topping this one.

Michael A.

Yelp
My husband and I spent three nights at the Old Wailuku. The Inn was a welcome sight after busy days on the beach, in museums, on the Road to Hana or on Mt. Haleakala The full breakfast with your hosts bringing coffee and refills while you meet people from around the world started every day off right. Any question about the island was answered with helpful information and a driving map. I particularly loved the handmade Hawaiian quilt on our king-sized bed and the air conditioner made every night's sleep comfortable and restful. There were complimentary snacks and drinks available in a fridge for everyone and a fridge for guests to save leftovers for another day. You will love this place!

Yelp
Charming hotel and amazing owners!!!! We've got stuck for 7.5 hours on the road to the airport due to a major brush fire, missed our night flight, and there was no single room available at any hotel. The concierge agent from Hawaiian Airlines credit card was able to find one room at this hotel. The hotel owner (Tom) went out of his way to accommodate all four of us! We really loved his service and compassion, as well as comfortable beds, wonderful breakfast, beautiful surroundings and amazing hospitality.

Yelp
This is very nice bed and breakfast tucked away in Wailuku. Fantastic breakfasts, super clean rooms. The owner is very helpful suggesting various things to do. It's only 15 minutes to the best surfing beach in Hawaii. They provide beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. There is a refrigerator for guest use. So we stashed a couple bottles of wine there and would have nightcap on the veranda after our travels were done for the day. You can walk 5 minutes to Ichiban for some of the best chicken katsu you can get on this island.

Jim K.

Yelp
We highly recommend this delightful b&b. The hosts, Tom and Janice, are most accommodating. The breakfasts are a treat. We stayed in the Puakenikeni room which was clean, quiet and nicely furnished. Of particular note is the couples' shower...very luxurious!

Sarah H.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights while visiting Maui after being in Waikiki for a five days. We absolutely loved this place! First of all, the pictures above by the business owner do NOT do this place justice. The landscaping is beautifully maintained, from fruit trees to plumerias, it just can't get any better than this. We stayed in the Bird of Paradise room, which was larger than I expected. The room was comfortable, though we didn't spend much time there because we were out exploring the gorgeous island. Second, the owners have literally thought of everything, including beach towels for guests to use, snacks, sodas, and local juices for you to enjoy throughout the day, a refrigerator and microwave specifically for guests to use since there isn't one in the rooms, and a sound machine in the room incase the noise from the nearby road is too loud (we didn't have a problem with that). The breakfast was wonderful, and there is a set menu item for each day of the week. They serve a fruit appetizer before the main breakfast meal. During breakfast the owners chat with everyone about their plans and love providing advice on where to go and what to do for the day. They even have some maps and books in the room. We had a short but great experience here. We would suggest this place to anyone planning a trip to Maui and would stay again if return to Maui.

Yelp
This is a a terrific B and B that my wife and I stayed at on our first trip to Maui. Great central location with good access to all points of the island, yet still quiet, welcoming and friendly. A great alternative to noisy resorts.

Yelp
A very comfortable place, beautiful room and garden, handy location for touring the island. We would love to return!

Yelp
Great place to stay at. We were here April 2007 and we stayed in the Mokihana room. This room was huge and it had a whirlpool hot tub, great to soak in during the evenings. Everyone there is really sweet and helpful.
google avatar

Becca R.

Yelp
Absolutey fabulous!! The make the most amazing hot breakfast every morning! We stayed in the Plumeria room. It was very lovely and comfortable. Janice the owner was awesome and really helpful! I can't say enough wonderful things about this b and b!

Jason S.

Yelp
We really liked this B&B. Why? Because it feels like a HOME. The breakfast meals are really good, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and it's very quiet and tranquil here. You get complimentary use of beach towels and coolers, and the dining room is stocked with soft drinks and snacks. It's within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in downtown Wailuku, and nearby to the airport and restaurants/shops in Kahului, and also to Iao Valley park. Good central Maui location if you want to visit various places on the island. We felt very welcome and would come back again. Pricey by mainland standards, but a good value by Hawaii lodging standards.

Yelp
Aloha. I have stayed at this sanctuary of a B&B several times and for extended work periods. It is a my home away from home. It is quiet, peaceful and serene and is ideally located in Wailuku in a garden-like well kept oasis of wonderful smells of the local flowers. The owners, Janice and Tom, go out of their way to make your stay relaxing and trouble free and are very responsive to individual needs. Parking can be tricky in the tightly spaced lot especially for large american cars but you easily get the hang of backing in as the best maneuver to get out! In the common area living room, you can find a treasure trove of books covering hawaiian culture and novels both classics and new. There is even an upright piano with music books of hawaiian tunes. Beach towels are provided and laundered as needed. Small coolers are available with always cold ice packs to carry on your beach days. Local drinks and sodas are free to the guests including another refrigerator for guest use. Beach mats, umbrellas, boogey boards, flotation tubes are complimentary. I love the house's architecture and the attention to detail the owners have done to restore and maintain the home's integrity. The quilts are a beautiful example of local craftmanship and you notice the attention to detail in the design of each room . I thoroughly enjoy my stays here and feel rested and refreshed. Yelp
we stayed at this bed & breakfast after we got married and had such a wonderful time here. the owners are so sweet & nice. the breakfast we had here was yummy-complete with some homemade malasadas that rival leonards and punahou carnival. they even have snacks and drinks stocked, and ice chests that you can borrow and take out with you on your day excursions. our room was nice and very clean.

Sam G.

Yelp
Comfortable room, well furnished, best shower experience ever. Beautiful grounds, great breakfast, very friendly innkeepers, wonderful experience. We will definitively come back and stay here again.

Josh M.

Yelp
I made my reservation online for a 3 day stay. 10 minutes after I confirmed my reservation, they called to tell me that I had forgotten to click on the coupon button which gives a discount if you stay more than 2 days. They clicked it for me, but didn't want me to be confused when the bill was less than expected. Super nice of them! They serve breakfast at 8:00 am sharp, and there was always a beautiful cup of very fresh fruit with breakfast. The first morning, I had some of the best banana pancakes I've ever eaten. (Try the coconut maple syrup. It's fantastic). This is an older place. Other people have commented that it's more like staying at your grandparents place, and they're right. It smelled a little musty when we first got in the room, but everything was clean. We stayed in the llima room, which was quite nice. Things to note about this room: The shower is actually in the bedroom, and the bathroom door has wooden slats, so it's not exactly soundproof. Neither thing is bad, but if that freaks you out, you may want to stay in another room. Janice (the owner) told us that if we booked any big trips, we should mention that we were staying at the Inn and we would get a discount. We booked a helicopter tour with Sunshine Helicopters, and saved $100. Very cool. So, if you want to stay at a brand new hotel, this is not the place for you. But if you want to stay at grandma's house, and have a nice relaxing time, The Old Wailuku Inn is a nice choice.
