The museum of Art and History located in the culture park in Izmir. 5TL entrance fee gets you access to three main buildings: Sculptures, Ceramics, and artifacts. Coins, statues, and pottery are all fantastic to walk around a take in. There are descriptions in English and Turkish, but not a ton of information on the actual items - what they were meant for, used for, or created for to give you more history and substance to your visit. It reminded me of exhibits you'll see while at university. Those that live in the halls of the research department and walk past every day. Same look and feel here.
It was completely deserted while I was there, save for the entrance person. The lights for the exhibits come on when you enter the area, which is a bit eerie at first.
The statues are the most impressive and you are able to see them up close and personal. Worth a stop if you are walking around the culture park and have 30 minutes and 5TL to spare.
