We came for the trolley museum but found out there is so much more. We spent over 2 hours touring all buildings. The print shop was operating and the printer was extremely friendly. We found the Fruit Barn interesting. They even had a model railroad display the day we visited. A great way to spend an afternoon and all for FREE!

So glad I stumbled upon this! I'd say if you come here, you should compare it to similarly-themed History Parks like I heard there's one in Illinois, and Heritage Park in Calgary, AB. I really like what they did with having different museums in the park itself, allowing the park to be open for all of us to check out. Sadly, most of the museums are ONLY opened during the weekends, so keep that in mind. BUT I do like the fact that they actually have exhibits in the Pacific Hotel model building that you can check out. Plus, the staff were really friendly, and gave me ALL sorts of useful tips. So glad there are so many organizations that are coming together to help make this park come alive. It's pretty awesome! I'm definitely coming back for more!

A Must-Visit Hidden Gem in San José! History Park at History San José is like stepping into a beautifully preserved piece of California’s past. The vintage gas station with its antique truck and old-school pumps is picture-perfect and brings back the golden age of Americana. The blacksmith shop and massive steam tractor add to the charm—it’s like walking through a live museum! The Wall of Honor was especially meaningful, paying tribute to Portuguese-American heritage and community contributions. The craftsmanship of the gazebo and surrounding plaza shows the care that goes into maintaining this historical site. I visited during a special event, and the whole park was buzzing with energy. Tents lined the streets, kids were playing, and families were enjoying hands-on activities. It felt like a community festival wrapped in a history lesson.

Though I did not grow up in the area, have been here long enough where I should have known about this place. Was looking for some way to spend a lazy Sunday, and found this in a Google search. What a pleasant surprise, educational and free to boot! The Chinese museum was closed that day, but was able to tour the Vietnam memorials and other interiors of old San Jose. Nearby Japanese Garden, and Zoo at to the experience. The only "disappointment" was the ice cream, though. I was expecting "home made" with history or a quality brand but got a prepackage deal that one could get anywhere. Needed to be colder also as it was soft. Otherwise a visit is highly recommended, especially the free trolley ride!

It was a wonderful experience visiting this museum. Quite incredible that the entry is free and even more wonderful that this is run by a private organization not the city like I thought earlier. I went in on a Wednesday with my parents and got the tour. It only costed us about $30 for the three of us and our tour guide was super knowledgeable, kind and a very welcoming person. She took us down into the lifestyle of the 1800s to early 1900 which was a great historic walk through. My parents are visiting and they loved this little glimpse of the history. I can't not visit back. They also host great shows, events, cultural festivals which I'm looking forward to check out.

History Park was a fun experience. Walking through the history of San Jose was one of the best tourist attractions in San Jose. To me... It was the best we went to. The staff who were dressed up in costumes fitting the era makes the place. Several of the old replica homes and businesses were open for a walk through. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Cool experience. It was free.

What a beautiful hidden gem! I Absolutely love this park!! Hidden behind on the other side of Happy Hollow, this place is quite a Charm! There are many historical buildings all around, such as Portuguese museum, Chinese, and Vietnamese Victorian buildings, clean well kept gardens, Candy gift shop, Pacific Hotel, and even an old-fashion ice cream shop within the park. This History park reveals Santa Clara Valley's past, many businesses, best kept landmarks and various other best attractions. Completed with running trolleys, paved peaceful streets, and through 32 original and reproduction homes, this park offers the charm and the ambiance of times gone by. With so much to learn and many things to explore, this Historical town just keeps me coming back for more!

Came across this place when I visited San Jose on a weekday. The entrance is completely free! (Parking fee depends on the location of the parking lot. $6 for the one next to the park entrance, $10 for the one next to the zoo). Unfortunately most of the museums are open only on weekends. It was still a really nice and eye-opening walk, for the first timer. A lot of building has historical info sign in front of it. Go around the back/side of the parking lot and you will find Japanese Garden. It is also free entrance.
