25 Most Beautiful Places in Japan

"This 350-hectare park offers fields of gold, blue, pink, and more, depending on the season and what’s in bloom. The 5.3 million nemophila flowers are popular with crowds, and there’s a 6.8-mile cycling course for a spring morning diversion." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Over 5 Million Tiny, Blue Flowers Have Bloomed in Japan's Hitachi Seaside Park | Travel + Leisure

"The current spring bloom at Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka, Japan, just two hours north of Tokyo, shows millions of tiny, blue flowers that blanket the park, according to Insider. The nemophila flowers, also known as “baby-blue eyes” and rurikarakusa in Japanese, are actually native to North America, not Japan, Insider reported. The beautiful blooms only grow to be less than an inch in diameter and about seven to eight inches tall, according to the park’s website, which makes the fact that these flowers have created a spread of baby blue on the hillside all the more impressive. Overall, there are 5.3 million individual flowers that make up these fields, an area of around 8.6 acres (3.5 hectares), according to Insider. Perhaps the most striking part of this year’s bloom is the total absence of people wandering the park’s paths trying to get a good photo of the colorful flowers. Hitachi Seaside Park has been closed since April 4 due to the coronavirus pandemic. But there’s more to Hitachi Seaside Park than the nemophila. The park in its entirety is about 469 acres (190 hectares), and there are several other areas where you can see spring blooms, such as daffodils in the Narcissus Garden and thousands of colorful tulips in the Tamago Flower Garden, according to Insider. There is also an amusement park with rides for the whole family. In the fall, the flowers are essentially replaced with fuzzy-looking red bushes called kochia. The kochia are green during the spring and summer and eventually turn red with the changing of the season. The baby-blue nemophila usually bloom between April and early May, so, unfortunately, most tourists will have to wait until next year to see them in person." - Travel + Leisure Editors

A park with many colourful flowers and fun-filled activities. Depending on the time of the year, you would see different flowers in this park. We were there in May 2025 and only mostly roses there. There was mini golf, biking trails and BMX obstacle courses. There was also an amusement park for all in the family to enjoy. It is a huge park. Expect to spend at least a few hours to explore the whole park. Entrance fee was Y450 per adult. Car parking fee Y600.

Beautiful park in Ibaraki. We came on a rainy/cloudy day so probably best to check the weather in advance. With that said, the park is vast with multiple sections and flower gardens and huge areas to explore. There’s even a theme park within the park and multiple venues and food trucks for food and snacks. You can literally spend here hours, absolutely beautiful.

It’s huge amazing place for a person who enjoys being with flowers and nature’s beauty. For different reasons season it has different flowers to see, however whenever you visit you won’t t be disappointed but do check the weather before visit. Important information the charges for the visit is 80 yen when I am writing this review. Thank you 🙏🏻

This is one of my favorite spots in Ibaraki. The park is spacious, containing an amusement park and plenty of activities for the family. The range of flowers was mesmerizing. For my first visit, I went to see the Nemophilia bloom. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was enthralled by the beauty. There are seasonal flowers here, so a season pass is highly recommended. I plan on returning soon to see the summer flowers. One thing to note is there is a tendency for long lines. If you visit during peak hours and days (such as a weekend), then don’t be alarmed by the line. Overall, this is a great place for the family to have a nature day. It’s also a great place for those who love flowers and amusement parks. I highly recommend! (All photos were taken by me on an iPhone 16 Pro).

A vast open park best explored via bicycle as its huge to simply just walk around. There are many attractions inside with various flower gardens and even a carnival inside where you pay per ride. A bus does arrive a couple of times an hour that can fetch you back and forth from Katsuta station. Highly recommended visit and out of town from Tokyo.

Very beautiful place to visit with family and friends after mid of April month. To enjoy the view and flowers in the park came early morning. I visited here this week now there was no much flowers in the valley but we enjoy tulips in the garden and some other flowers. We enjoyed the views of Sakura also. Love to visit again next year with family.

Big park containing a theme park and a large flower park. We spent time in the beautiful flower area. It was April, and therefore the tulips were in full bloom. Sometimes arranged in matching color beds, sometimes in gorgeous combinations, and sometimes just mixed. Loads of them. The hill, covered in the signature light blue flowers was equally breathtaking. We enjoyed the simple snack foods that are on offer everywhere, and therefore are ample places to sit down. Great grass fields are inviting to play, and the entire park is very accessible to anyone. Plan to spend several hours in the flower park, and add more time if you with like to be entertained in the theme park that is a bit more catered towards younger children.

It is a beautiful and huge park near seaside. It is particularly famous for blue ocean of Nemophila and red carpet of Kochia during spring and autumn, respectively. You can see all the famous seasonal flowers like daffodils, tulips, rape blossom, poppy blossom, roses etc depending of the time of your visit. It also has an amusement park with a big giant wheel.

Yelp
Opening it's doors around 9:00am, I was greeted with lots of friendly and colorful blooms of different flowers at only 400 Yen. I was especially jealous of school children who were exploring these breathtaking field trips to whimsical fields of tulips and dahlia's! Ice cream vending machines were spotted throughout the park. My original plan was to explore Hitachi Sea Side Park, and then take a bus to Katakuen Park, but it took me a whole day to see everything here. There was a small shuttle that can take you around the 8 stops of the park, but I chose to walk throughout all of them. There were restrooms left and right, so you know that it wasn't going to be a long walk. Just FYI, these are traditional Japanese bathrooms and require you to squat. No sitting down. They had a very nice amusement park within Hitachi, and the 400 Yen ticket was included to visit this darling place. I did get a sunburn on my feet from wearing flip flops that lasted a whole year round, so please put sunscreen on your entire body, not missing one spot because it took a whole year for that to clear up. I wasn't complaining. I took a bus back to Mito, which was amazing. There are taxis that stop by this park as well. I suggest the BUS!

Yelp
Hands down one of the best land marks to visit when in Japan. Hitachi seaside park puts the California poppy blooms to shame. There's so many varieties of colorful flowers. Fields of them. And another area dedicated to tulips. The weather is amazing during the spring. A must visit for photos and amazing scenery to view with your loved one. It can get super crowded but everyone is so polite. There is a designated trail and it's refreshing to see everyone respecting the flowers to stay on path unlike vain instagrammers who trampled all over the poppies in CA. There's also bicycle rentals for about 400 yen for 3 hours which is neat. I want to return during the autumn season as the blooms change to red kochias. Highly recommend!! There's also a few cafes around too. There's an amusement park area for the kids too. I can't wait to return and bring my kids when they're older, it's very family friendly for everyone. About 400ish Yen for adults and 100ish Yen for children to enter.

Yelp
Everything about this park is simply beautiful. Nature truly speaks to you here. This has to be a whole day event, the park has a lot to offer from trails to kids rides. It can get pretty crowed on weekends but it's so worth going indeed.
