The Best Places in Zurich for Nightlife - AFAR

"A self-described collective nightclub with three distinct rooms, resident DJs, and guest artists; door staff curate the line to assemble a mix of “weird, easy, and urban” patrons, and the club—open late into the morning—prioritizes non-macho vibes and support for Zurich-based performers." - Joel Riddell

I go to Hive very often. The music is very good! I wanted to write a comment about the rude blonde woman bouncer and i already see many comments about her. That means either the management doesn’t care or they approve it. Either way, it’s a bad look. You are supposed to help people have fun, not ruin people’s night. If the club is empty, no one is in the queue and you still reject a person talking to you in the most normal way based on a “doubt”, you are the problem. I am not giving up on the blonde woman. I believe she can improve. I just hope what happened to me, doesn’t happen to too many people. Happiness should be cherished and protected. Peace!

If I could, I’d give it zero stars. If you want to feel free, don’t come here. They have undercover workers spying for them, looking for people who are using drugs… hello! It’s a techno club — of course there are people using drugs. What they do is cynical and pathetic. A place full of bad vibes and backward-minded people. I read bad reviews saying they were racist, and now that I’ve seen the atmosphere myself, I can definitely confirm it. I gave it a second chance, but I won’t be coming back. It’s a shame because the club itself is nice and has great decor, but freedom of expression doesn’t exist in this place. para vos pelado botón ortivaa devolveme la rosaaa #Fueramalasvibras

Writing a review about the Mad Katz series - supposedly serious/ underground techno parties. Key issues: - soundsystem at main floor ok,on upstairs floor ("Tanzstube") terrible at times. Have it frequently that you have feedback loops with noisy basslines. - vibe is terrible - you have a lot of kids and "touristy" party seekers. Lots of folks standing in groups in the middle of the dance floors talking to each others. Many couples/ lovebirds trying to make out in a deep techno set. Also, many smartphones out, seems the kids don't want to miss their last train or are simply bored. - door is not selective at all - no screening for vibe. They let everyone in unless obviously drunk or on substances. I get it, you cannot fill a club in Zurich on a deep techno night otherwise If you want to explore some DJs or music you have never heard before, give it a try. For an immersive experience, you need to go elsewhere.

I turned 25 today. I was saying goodbye to a friend and security heard it was my birthday. They said I gotta go in and celebrate for free. The atmosphere was OUTSTANDING. Music is very good. Nice place to be at :)

It looks like I'm gonna be preaching to the choir here, about the blonde bouncer woman. Me and a friend of mine, both of us expats, speaking English, wanted to enter the club. We were sober, dressed casual. She first looked at our ID-s (non.swiss) and then we were denied entry. After simply asking: "May I ask why?" The response was "Oh, no reason" and a cynical smile. We are in 2025, but it sure does not feel like it.

If you’re black dont go here, they will find any reason to not let you in unfortunately. There was a guy inside that wasn’t black who was dressed almost identical to me and I was told I was dressed too hip hop for the club in a black t-shirt and jeans. Disappointing but unfortunately not surprising for Zurich

A friend of mine was there tonight and wasn't allowed in for dress code reasons. The party didn't specify any dress code, and he was only well-dressed in a shirt. The strongest suspicion is that he's Spanish, and there are racial motives involved. It's shameful that this club is located in Switzerland

Yelp
Always a good idea esp. on NYE in Zürich. It's a trip unique and shows a vibe that zürich represents

Yelp
Boring. Lame. Snoozefest. Don't write many yelp reviews, but had to call this place out. My girl and I spent 130CHF for this - we would have had a more fun time at a church recital. 4 hours of buildup... nothing backs it up.

Yelp
This was my first European nightlife experiences. It is a pretty big place and the cover was not too bad- they accept student IDs for a discount. It was hard to find at first but follow the graffiti and umbrellas and you'll be fine. The drinks were pretty expensive - though hat seemed to be the case for every price in Zurich. The only drawback to this is you need a 50 euro minimum to use a card as payment. Definitely bring cash next time. The atmosphere was pretty stereotypical. The music was blaring and you could feel the beats in your stomach. Overall the dress code was casual. Girls - you can totally wear converse and it will be cool. The bathrooms were large so you didn't have to wait too long to get past the girls taking selfies in the mirror, which is nice.

Yelp
One of the permier clubs in Zürich, Hive is a place for hard-core party-goers. This really isn't a place where you stop in for a quick shake of your tail feather before moving on, and the 30CHF entrance fee pays due to that. On weekends, the club cranks up from about 11pm onwards and goes through to midday the following day. Let's put this way, when leaving whilst the sun is up, I have still seen a queue out the front waiting to get in .... The club has two DFs, one at the bottom which plays a little harder/trancier type beats and one on the top where a bit more chilled/loungey type beats are played, but enough to still get your groove on. Expect to find most partiers a little inebriated (generally goes hand-in-hand with places that don't shut their doors at sunrise) but fair to say the atmosphere is rather friendly with everyone there to have a good time. There is a smoking area outside which at times has a bouncy castle - no further comment required. My only complaint would be the need to have more toilets. There is always a queue for the mens, which speaks for itself.

Yelp
A big plus is the 21 and over, since most clubs seemed to be 18 and over and some even younger. Being an older American going out with early twenty somethings, the under 21 places were a little bit overwhelming. If I remember correctly there were about 3 floors, the top where there was a big girls bathroom (learned to never use the bottom bathroom go to the top or else you might be waiting in line for the one stall at the bottom where 2 people might be hooking up :P) then there was another floor that was covered and uncovered for smokers and then the bottom floor that was very crowded unfortunately slightly difficult to get a drink. The music was more of a deep lounge, not really my type, but the sound system wasn't bad. The crowd was a mix of foreigners and locals. I did end up getting slightly drunk by the end of the night, but it definitely cost a decent amount, meaning the drinks weren't super expensive but they were sure weak.
