Ho Lan Jeng is a fun fusion restaurant with a wide selection of craft beers. We went during lunchtime and my friend, who knows beer well, said their beers were great.
For appetizers, we ordered the jellyfish head with eggplant and I really loved it. The texture and flavor worked very well together. The fries were also excellent. They were crispy, well seasoned and very enjoyable.
The main dish, the cha siu lard rice, took quite a long time to arrive. We waited around 30 to 40 minutes. When it finally came, the cha siu was a bit dry. I think they either need to switch to a fattier cut or pay closer attention to temperature/ time control when grilling the meat so that it stays tender.
The price is not high, but with a 30 or 40 minute wait for a lunch dish, my expectations naturally increased.
I would return for the appetizers and the craft beer selection, but I hope the kitchen improves the consistency of the main dishes.
