Hotel Montespan Talleyrand

Loved this place - booked it as a dinner, bed and breakfast and couldn't have been more pleased. The dinner was great but the breakfast was superb.

Very nice hotel, and the luxury room we booked was very comfortable.|The staff were very friendly, but (in my opinion) mislead us!|We invested in a luxury room and were looking forward to our stay in the hotel inlcuding the advertised excellent breakfast and an enjoyable evening meal. When we arrived, however, we were told we couldn't book a table in the restaurant that evening. Very, very disappointing! Why hadn't the hotel asked us if we wanted a table in the restaurant when we booked. We were told rain was forecast for the evening, which meant that the outside part of the restaurant would not open that evening. It did not rain that evening, and it was obvious that with only two front-of-house staff in the restaurant, the real reason bookings were unavailable was because it was understaffed. The breakfast didn't live up to expectations either unfortunately.

We found this hotel by chance and what a lovely place. It is attached to a thermal spa where you can take a “cure “ but we just stayed one night. Full of history, there are various sizes of rooms. We had a small room overlooking the courtyard which was very comfortable and clean. There was a nice bar and sitting room in the public areas. Free parking outside. Dinner was very good. Not an enormous menu but good choice. Breakfast was extra and was mostly bread based with meat or cheese, cereals and fruit. |The owners were very welcoming and spoke English. We went for a walk around the town which was interesting with a tower, castle and lots of interesting little shops. This could be a good place to stay if you are thinking of visiting the Auvergne region.

We stayed there with the Via Gallica rally on the way to Angouleme and it was a marvelous tay. The staf organised a private parking in the square in front of the hotel. ||All the guests were happy with the service and food.

Tucked away in rural France we came across this gem. Had problem parking but the owner was more than helpful and couldn't have done more. The room was big, well furnished and a great view of the castle and exquisites garden/terrace. Bathroom was a bit dated.||The restaurant and reception areas were charming and the food more than acceptable. Breakfast was wide ranging and possibly one of the best buffets we have experienced.||Comes recommended!

Amazing so friendly and helpful. Fantastic hotel comfortable quirky and beautiful. Sumptuous lounge and wonderful dining room. Outside a gorgeous courtyard garden with stone steps up to the sun terrace and lovely pool.

I do not often write reviews, but feel compelled to after reading the review below.||I stayed at this hotel for one night as a stopover on the way to the South of France with my wife and children. From the moment we arrived, I only have positive comments.||We were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception who showed us to our lovely spacious room. We spent the day relaxing by the pool which the kids particularly loved after the long drive.||Before dinner we had drinks in the garden. The same lady greeted us and sat us for dinner giving us a choice of inside or out.|The four course set meal was enjoyable, and at a reasonable price. ||Again at breakfast we were given a choice of eating in the restaurant or garden. There was a great choice for everyone from pastries to fruit, yoghurts, cheese, meats etc. etc.||There was nothing I could really pick fault with and I think the staff deserve particular credit for being so friendly and helpful in today’s challenging circumstances. ||We are staying again in one week on our way home which I’m looking forward to as the perfect way to end our holiday.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, great value for money! Nice swimming pool which unfortunately we couldn't enjoy due to weather.||The beds of the standard room are very small. Not necessarily a problem but when the floor of the room is not level (old building) it becomes a challange to stay on your (small) side of the bed.
