If you like olde worldy, youll love this hotel however, also bear in mind that to access the top floor rooms, you'll need to climb 45 steps every time so it's not for those with mobility issues. Our room entitled Mayfield was nice but did not deserve to be called deluxe or exceptional and, whilst there was complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and water, the milk was out of date and curdled the tea and, there were no tissues so you had to blow your nose on toilet paper.
Although not the owners, the couple who run the hotel were friendly and accommodating and their breakfast choices were good as was its quality and presentation. Unfortunately however, because there is no bar or restaurant available, you are forced to brave the elements on foot or by car and find somewhere else to patronize every evening.
The hotel is well situated to access the numerous places of interest in the locality and there is free private parking albeit up a very steep hill so, drop your bags off at the hotel before you park up.
