Hof van Aragon

Lovely, iconic hotel and event space in the very heart of medieval Lier. We come here every year to visit our family, and love staying in Hof van Aragon. The location is like a dream, the rooms spacious and rustic, and the restaurant services (breakfast, Sunday restaurant) are excellent. It’s true that the building is very old, meaning it’s got its little quirks, including poor isolation. But we’d take the charm and location of this place over any other in town.

We had a lovely stay at Hof van Aragon. It was a warm welcome by the receptionist. She was very friendly. |Our room was big and clean. The only thing missing was a door for the bathroom. And maybe some paintings as well. |Breakfast was really nice and well prepared

The family room was great and comfortable but that is all. We had to take 3 stairs to our room with all that heavy luggages and a baby of 2 years old, no elevator and no cleaning of the room. No airco, in the summer the rooms were too Hot, we had only one fan, only one chair to sit. We were with 3 adults and 2 children. The time to check out you don't see anybody, i was told to leave the keys on the frontdesk. Its a nice place, close to the center but it lacks a lot.

I don’t know where people were but the Aragon was so lovely! These bad reviews are just wrong!!!!! ||The people were friendly. The room was comfortable. Lier is a gem. Walk to everything. People will talk to you if you want. ||Room was clean, spotless. Beds were so very comfortable. Kettle in the room. ||Someone wrote about screens on the windows. I yet to see screens in Europe.

We booked a small room through booking.com, but received a beautiful, very large room. The breakfast was delicious. The location is perfect, within walking distance to the center, close to the shops and restaurants.||Minus: a door on the toilet would be more comfortable.

Worst reception ever, with no instructions whatsoever to direct to the actual entrance upon late arrival. The most unfriendly receptionist was really bothered with my arrival at 10 pm and simple questions about parking. I had called around 5 pm and from there it was a very difficult process to book a room for that night and get information. I had to pay first before the receptionist was willing to give me any information, which never came even after payment. Lack of information and availability felt like cruel treatment and badgering. ||The small tasteless room she allocated presented no comparison whatsoever with any of the rooms in the pictures of the website. ||Unbearable smell on the ground floor because they had been grilling shrimps for X-mas and just left the place unventilated. ||Breaksfast was okay, with friendly (foreign) staff who made up for the ill-humoured receptionist.

Wouldn't recommend. The hotel is well situated but that's all. The room is very small and not clean. When entering the room we had to notice that there was mold in the bathroom. Also the door for the bathroom was broken so you couldn't close it, which meant no privacy. On our first morning the cleaning lady came when we were still in the room, so we kindly ask her to come back later and she agreed an told us that this wouldn't be a problem. Furthermore for the breakfast, we had to leave the hotel and go around the corner to enter an other building.

No contact with the reception. I wanted to change rooms during the first visit to the room. Tried calling 7 or 8 times, but no answer. And this while my staff was waiting for me at the event. The waiter in the so-called party room had found some keys to rooms that were empty. We went to look together. These also looked disgusting. The shower of 2 x 1 meter was also a real disappointment. A stay in prison is more pleasant then here.|This was the 1st and last time in this hotel !!
