Such and amazing Bakery. We had heard about this bakery before our trip to Graz, Austria. It is the oldest operating bakery in Graz Austria. It was apparently founded in 1569. The exterior façade of this bakery is simply breathtaking. And of course, the pastries inside are over the top amazing. Our local friend told us that the original bakery was in a different location and was then moved to this location around 1880. But this building itself was constructed in the 14th century and is still very much all original. I would recommend you stop in if your in Graz Austria Paul Calgary, Canada

The baked goods here are absolutely delicious! I had a cinnamon roll which was good, but the chocolate donut with hazelnut filling was out of this world. Their dough is nice and thick, so everything is wonderfully filling.

Being from Copenhagen we’re blessed with some of the best bakeries in the world, and I will always compare bread and pastry quality with the level we have at home and unfortunately Edegger-Tax left me disappointed. I bought a large loaf of bread, a vanilla croissant, a pastry with cream and fruits, a nusskipferl and two small semmels. The Semmel and loaf was great. Nice crumb and super good flavor in both. The pastries however were quite disappointing. I don’t know if that’s how they’re supposed to be traditionally here I Austria - dry and doughy - but I much prefer the light and airy version of French style puff pastries. For the price and hype I think there are much better options in the city.

Always a thrill to seek out the "traditional" amongst the "progressive;" happy to know both can exist at this Styrian pâtisserie! 1st customer of the day and spent the subsequent 15 minutes deciding which pastry to bring home. The Linzertorte & Nusskipferl proved triumphant! €5 for bliss!

The oldest bakery in the city. You can have something to go or you can sit inside. There are a couple of tables and chairs in the shop, ambiance is great. Also they serve coffee. I tried topfenstrudel, which was around 4 Euros. The employees were kind and friendly.

It’s an establishment. There’s nothing ‘amazing’ about their pastries, however, you could taste that they have been making little changes to suit to whatever the current time requires while keeping their traditional recipe 😊

I just wanted to visit this bakery because it has the title of being the oldest one operating in Austria. This bakery was established in 1569 during the reign of Emperor Maximilian II. Of course, I love pastries.

Yelp
This is the oldest running bakery in Graz, Austria since 1569 during the 14th century. The bakery is known for its elegant woodwork at the entrance of the store and their applestrudels. The staffs are uniquely friendly to help you with all your needs. If you were like me you'll want to try each and every kind of cookies and cakes they have. It's worth every penny because it's so delicious! A must visit historical location for tourists from around the world :) The history of the bakery is so incredible with all the famous people who once shopped here over the last 500 something years.

Yelp
Founded in 1569 Hofbäckerei Edegger-Tax is the oldest operating bakery in Graz, its current location on Hofgasse street in continuous operation since 1880 and the wooden façade something of a landmark since the late 1890s. Named after Mathias Tax with Edegger added in 1940's change in ownership, though recipes remain unchanged, it is once inside that guests will find many of the same Pastries served to Emperor Franz Joseph during his visit including the famous Kaiserdessert filled with Chocolate and flavored Marzipan. A true bakery with loaves often selling out early those arriving early should be on the lookout for Doughnuts featuring a Brioche-style shell and Fillings including Apricot while MozartKugel featuring Pistachio and Nougat is also quite special. Embracing Austro-Hungarian history with several nut-based products, modern times labeling them "gluten free," Nussecken comes highly recommended by staff thanks to a Shortbread bottom and Hazelnut top plus Apricot Jam half-dipped in Dark Chocolate.
