Great atmosphere. Chicken schnitzel and cranberries were good. Pork knuckle was crispy. But service was a little bit slow. Pork schnitzel was good

We had booked for 20:00, we were out by 20:50. Food was ok, potato sides were not great quality. But it’s a beer hall, not fine dining so thats whats expected. Live music was nice, staff was kind and very helpful

Google
Delicious, flavorful food and very generous portions. There was a shift change with the waitresses— the first one didn’t speak much English and sometimes didn’t understand what I needed, but the second one spoke English, was super friendly, and very attentive. The place was really clean, and the bathroom was big and spotless.

I had dinner here last week after seeing all the positive reviews. The place was packed when I arrived around 8 PM on a Saturday, but we got a table right away. About 10 minutes later, somebody came to take our order. I had the schnitzel and Bavarian potatoes. The food took around 30 minutes, which was fine since there was a live band playing, making the wait more enjoyable. The schnitzel was tasty and the portion was generous, but I wasn’t a fan of the potato salad. It had a very strong vinegary taste and lacked seasoning—maybe it’s just me, but I couldn’t eat it. Overall, the atmosphere was great. The place is huge, so even though it was busy, there was plenty of seating and lots of toilets. People were dancing and enjoying their time.

Google
Great experience. The food is top notch and large portions. There is live music and even a dancefloor. THE BEER IS WHERE ITS AT THOUGH!! Best quality beer.

Google
Typical beer garden with life music, well the girl looked so borred when she was singing. Food came within a few minutes, must be pre cooked. The schnitzel was not crispy on the outside like it should be . The Chicken breast was okay but the garlic butter didn't match with it. Ordered a rose and got a bottle. Shall we go again? No.

I really liked this place. We arrived on a Saturday at 7:30 pm and they attended us super fast. The place is huge, there are a lot of tables and space. The waiter who served us was super nice and was attentive to us at all times. I recommend trying the knuckle and the currywurst, in addition to their typical beers. It was a super nice experience because they play German music while having dinner and it makes the atmosphere super cool ✨

Google
I visited Hofbräu Berlin during the day and there was plenty of space. The atmosphere was lively, though the tables weren’t very comfortable. I didn’t try the beer, but the food and prices were quite reasonable. Some dishes are large enough to share, so it’s a good idea to order for two. Overall, a decent spot for a casual meal with a traditional touch.

Yelp
2nd Hofbräu visit of the trip. 1st at the original in Munich, now Berlin. While the original Hofbrau was awesome, especially as a "bucket list" location, this Berlin location was better in one way--the dancing. It reminded me of the dancing in the beer tents at the Munich Oktoberfest. It was so fun and festive. Everyone was having a great time singing and dancing on the dance floor and on the tables. The drinks kept coming and the servers were also into the spirit. I don't know what it's like here when it's not Oktoberfest, but I will try it the next time I'm in Berlin again.

Yelp
went for the classic german ambiance and that's what we got out of it so no complaints in that regard! the waiters were super friendly and helpful in explaining the dining concept and menu deals. the food wasn't priced bad and i yum berliner beer. was a super cute photo opp! the pretzel i ordered was very dry and cold which was disappointing. the currywurst was very flavorful but also kinda cold and the fries were soggy. if you're a tourist i recommend you come here for a beer or two but def skip on the food!

Yelp
Freaking amazing. I was traveling from America and this place was by far my favorite spot in Berlin. The beer was absolutely massive enough to sedate a horse (so I had two of them). The vibes were immaculate with live music and the classic great songs playing. Most urinals I've seen in a single bathroom was here and it was just a great time tbh
google avatar

Erich L.

Yelp
Pretty much the real thing like in Munich. It's very loud and crowded with live music. It's a good option for people who can't make it to Munich. You can get reservations online or go early. It's not worth waiting in long lines for. Food was decent but expensive. If you want a good traditional meal I would go somewhere else. Kase Spätzle wasn't good.
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
The tour group sent us here for lunch. Our meals were pre-ordered so we did not have any choice other than the drink. The food was good. The only gripe I have was it was probably 85 F inside. It was quite hot with no air conditioning.

Susan L.

Yelp
We were recommended to this place, plus the write ups rated them good. We ordered the giant pork knuckles. It definitely fed 2 or more people. Food came out fast, but it was lukewarm, at best. Taste was good. Service was good as well

Yelp
I wanted to like this place more. I came during Oktoberfest time, in my lederhosen and all, just to check it out. When they host Oktoberfest, it's really just a ticketed event in the evening and you can't just casually come and get a drink. I came hours before the event just to see the inside and have a quick beer and apple strudel (both yummy). I was a bit bummed there was not a general celebration going on all day, like in Munich. In Munich, you can experience Oktoberfest, without actually going to the official tents. Every beer hall in Munich is just going nuts. Anyway, Hofbrau beer is definitely delicious (I like the dark over the light). The service here was good. I don't think I'll be back because if I want the real magic of Munich during Oktoberfest, I will just go there!
google avatar

Lindsay D.

Yelp
A bit pricey eg. 13 Euro for currywurst. Big portions. Not a huge beer selection, but has seasonal specials. Bavarian style hall, including dress of the staff. Across from Alexanderplatz. Good for groups as the place is huge. Seating is picnic table style. There is a patio, but it wasn't open when we were there at the beginning of August.

Yelp
Lunch stop just right for a herd of folks on the Viking Cruise 1 day visit of Berlin. The lunch was included in our ocean cruise and we all got fed right away. See photos of interior. I went on this Viking Cruise in 2022 and just remembered we stopped here. You know the old movie title, if its Tuesday it must be Belgium in this case Berlin. Sausage main entre I think with potatoes. Nothing fancy not enough time.

Yelp
This is a Hofbrau Haus (house). If you are looking for a fine restaurant that is special and unique then this is not the place. This is a Haus where you can order your beer (bier) and your Brauts and maybe a Schnitzel of two. You can get your bee on draft. Not out of a bottle or a can. This is Germany after all and where else did Oktoberfest start from. Being back in Berlin I knew this was a place to go one night for dinner. And it was as expected. It was packed. And that is at 7pm. Tables are large. Everyone sits together. Nothing is private. There is beer, music, singing and people. It is what to expect. The food is simple Germany food. You are not going to find pasta or fish or vegan meals. This is traditional. We started with beer. I had a pint of Lager beer. Excellent. Just what I would expect. Naturally a pretzel helped with this. It took time to plan on what to enjoy. The menu is in German. So, with help from the waiter, we made it through the process. Brauts where a natural. When I ordered I received 6 of them. That was on top of an order of red cabbage and some sauerkraut. Just the way I would have it at home. We also had some schnitzel - a pork cutlet that is breaded and cooked. It topped more sauerkraut and some dumplings with it. Again, just like home cooking. It was great with the beer as the music played on. There was singing and dancing. The place it moving. The waiter came by and asked if we wanted a strudel. I said YES. Again, traditional. It is apple and cooked warm. It is heaven to have a real strudel and not something from the way we get it here. Prices are good for what you get and the environment you receive. You can pay by cash or card. This is Europe, so there is a special way to pay with a tip. It is only proper to do so. At the end, the waiter shook my hand and thanked us for doing such. Many tourists forget. This is a Beer (bier) Hal (haul) after all. It makes us think of Oktoberfest, but you do not have to wait to visit and enjoy. Prost!

Yelp
The haters will say that Hofbrau isn't authentic and caters to tourists, and you should be celebrating Oktoberfest in Munich, not Berlin. Chill out. The atmosphere is fun, there are plenty of locals, the food is decent, and the beer is good. Weiner schnitzel: veal pounded thin and lightly coated. Bavarian (aka German) potato salad. The dish to get if you're not sure. Be sure to add the optional cranberries Chicken schnitzel: the backup if veal isn't your thing. Sausage plate: a good selection. One Weiner, four pork, and add the optional veal sausage. The pork sausages are the most flavorful. Comes with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes (suggest you ask to substitute German potato salad) Leberkase meatloaf burger: holy burger Batman. Patty is beef, pork, and bacon. Comes with a fried egg and coleslaw. Fries a fine but not crave worthy. Large portion. Get the larger size beer -- you're in Germany and you want the photo. Food comes quickly, even when they are busy. Servers are perfunctory but that's because they are busy. You'll leave full and with a smile. Mission accomplished

Yelp
We were at this beer garden one afternoon during our trip to Berlin. The place was quite lively with music and the whole atmosphere was charged up . The bonus was they had a lot of vegan options of traditional Bavarian food. We had a Bavarian beer and a radler , both were tasty. Overall every thing was amazing and the service was quick , even though the place was bustling.

Yelp
This is suppose to be the place when you think of Oktoberfest. We came at night but the line was quite long and we didn't have reservations. We came back for lunch. It may not have the same feel. The place is pretty cool though. We got half order of the pork knuckle and it is huge. That was pretty good and crispy. I also got the pork schnitzel but that wasn't that good despite mushroom sauce to flavor it. I've had better ones. But, you should get their pork knuckle. That one is good.

Sabrina A.

Yelp
I really did enjoy this place. Our server was fantastic and very attentive to us and others. We sat outside and it was very pleasant. The portions are HUGE! I couldn't finish my meal. However, the food itself wasn't that great.

Christina P.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and very generous portions!!! The service was fast and the servers were knowledgeable and friendly. Great atmosphere! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
The Hofbrau House is a welcoming oasis of cheer in Berlin. The beer is legendary and did not disappoint. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. I recommend the chicken schnitzel; there are other excellent choices.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
I visited Hofbrau expecting it to be super touristy but was surprised to find that the majority of the patrons were local Germans having a blast. There is live music played by a duo and it kept the mood super fun and animated. The service was fast and our waiter was really nice and fun. We did not try any of the food and ordered beers instead. The 1Liter beers are the way to go in order to feel like you are in Oktoberfest. Should not be missed!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow what can I say, the hype is worth it. There's a reason there's so many reviews here! It's truly something else. We def don't have anything like this in Canada that's for sure. Great beer by the litre, food, live music. GGs.
google avatar

Derrick G.

Yelp
The food here was lowkey mid and service was horrible LOL hella delays. they had so many reviews on google so we went but the service and food let us down. However we got drunk off these huge beers and with the live music and people dancing it wasn't as bad
google avatar

Gautham P.

Yelp
I ordered the Schweinshaxe and it was delicious! Be sure to only get this if you're very very hungry as I would say the portion is a bit much unless you're sharing with others. Hofbräu original beer was so good too. I only realized after that they did not give me potato dumplings which were part of the dish I ordered, otherwise I'd have given them 5 stars.

Ilse B.

Yelp
Typical Bavarian Ambiance. No opinion about the food we lost our appetite after the service or better said the non service we received. Terrible service! Apparently the waiter chooses who to serve and who not to serve!

Yelp
This is a wonderful Bavarian dining experience! We found it on one of our first nights in Berlin. We were still tired from a long flight and adjusting to the time zone change. Fortunately for us, it was near our hotel and we decided to give it a try. We learned that it is exceptionally busy on weekend nights. Although it is a large restaurant, all of the tables were reserved. In an effort to accommodate us, one of the managers asked if we were willing to eat quickly enough that we could finish our meal in time for them to turn the table. We agreed and sent down to explore the menu. The menus come in multiple languages, making it much easier to navigate all of the options. The translation wasn't always perfect, but that added to the charm for me. We were pleasantly surprised to see a seasonal menu and decided to give it a try. Our waiter gave us great recommendations. We opted (a group of three people) to order a couple of things to share. Our waiter suggested that that was a great starting point and that he would happily expedite more food if we were still hungry. We ordered in the food came out within minutes! I could not believe the speed. The food was exceptional! We went with a traditional Bavarian meet sampler platter and a seasonal pumpkin spatzle dish. The spatzle was the best I've ever had. I've attached a picture and I think that I could've eaten six plates on my own. The meat sampler platter was a great way to dive into Bavarian cuisine. Don't be afraid of pork knuckles! It is basically a ham hoc and was tender and delicious. The prices were reasonable. Noting that three of us shared two entrees and we drank water, it was still only about $10 each. I'll be back next time I'm in Berlin.

Yelp
Crispy pork knuckle is the way to go. Take it from someone who ate it almost everyday while in Berlin. SOO good and yes, such a cheat but it goes so well with beer. Mom enjoyed the schnitzel. Sausages were "ok." The crispy pork knuckle is really the only thing worth ordering here...well, and beer of course.
google avatar

Björn D.

Yelp
War mit Verwandten aus dem Ausland hier essen. Bedienung war super nett und schnell. Das Essen war Preis/Leistung top! Das es stark auf Touristen abzielt war uns bewusst und tut der Bewertung keinen Abbruch.

Yelp
When in Germany make a stop bu the Hofbrau House. Berlins js not as big as the original in Munich but the food is just as good and the times are just as fun with the beer hall style tables and live band. I recommend either the platter or the original schnitzel with a seasonal brew or the hefeweizen. My server was great making jokes and asking where everyone was from at all his tables. The food came pretty quickly and I ordered off the lunch menu as it is smaller portions since I did not want to fill up before dinner. The schnitzel came with french fries and I ordered a side of the potato salad. The band and people around you all banging steins and cheering makes a fun experience.
google avatar

Karl K.

Yelp
It was our first night in Berlin, I wanted German food. I know, it's Bavarian not German. Well, to me, it IS German food. We ordered the platter for 2, it could have fed 4. My favorite item on the platter was the crispy pork knuckle and the sausages. The beer was cold, the food was excellent, and the band played on. The staff was friendly, surprisingly attentive making it a fun evening. Overall, the meal was very reasonably priced Touristy? Sure, but that's OK. The northern German can take a cue from the Bavarians on what German food is all about. Hofbrau Berlin, I will be back.

Yelp
This is truly a gem if you are looking for a great local meal, live music and a good beer. I have been looking for such a place for a very very long time, to start my journey in Berlin. Here it is. The place is immense. We ordered the Hofbrau Meat Plate which is loaded with Half Crispy Pork knuckles, Pork Roast, Bavarian Meat Loaf, Grilled Pork Sausages, Munich Weisswurst, Sauerkraut, Potato Dumpling and gravy. This is the best of the very best. The Sauerfleisch - Pickled Pork in aspic was not a bad choice, if you are looking for something local. The food, the atmosphere and the background live music totally earned a 5 star. BUT terrible service that I would have knocked off 4 stars if not 5. Everything that comes out of the waiter's mouth was negative. From ordering a large beer and an empty glass - to not combine 2 plates into one, for those who ordered the same dish. However, I would attribute this waiter simply as a bad apple, and not taint the reputation of this restaurant. Still troubled by the service and knocked off 1 star. Recommend to wait a while before you go... as that waiter may be gone by then.

Yelp
The band was playing as we entered the Bierhalle. We were on an excursion through NCL and lunch was included. It's been a few years since I've been in a huge Hofbräu in Germany. Nice, clean surroundings, and the friendly waitstaff was expecting us. We were served family style. Pork, sausages, sauerkraut and homemade Deutschbier. Excellent. An overall nice experience. Berlin tap water is also excellent.
google avatar

Dan A.

Yelp
I visited Hofbrau while on a business trip. We had a big group-about 25. It's a Wirtshaus and huge. They have live music, it's loud/crowded and you can have beer in a colossal mug. What's not to like?! Most of the party ordered the Schnitzel which was pretty good. We also ordered a sausage sampler plate that all enjoyed. The adventurous dish was the Crispy Pork Knuckle (probably enough food for 3!). It was tasty and definitely a good one to try for something different from Schnitzel. Our server was fast and had a great memory as all of our selections came out correctly and in a timely fashion. Fantastic place to visit for the experience!

Yelp
Simply put: Is this place a tourist trap? Yes! Will you have fun anyways? Yes! Came here after browsing Alexanderplatz, which honestly is the cliche tourist shopping area you find in most cities but we were starving so Biergarten it is! We got the pork knuckle, an array of German sausage and the classic Bavarian white sausage (all the German names have escaped me. Loved the crispy skin in the top of the knuckle, reminds me of the crispy Filipino pork lechon. If you are a foreigner don't worry their servers speak great English and they have English menus. Their portions are no joke and most of their entrees can be shared between 2 average eaters. Also I couldn't stop by without trying a beer or two. I wasn't ambitious enough to order the 1L stein but the 0.5L hit the spot and they have all of the classic HB beers as well as some combinations I have never heard of, dark and white beer mix? Beer with sprite? You can definitely be adventurous if you want. Perhaps not the most authentic, grandmas kitchen style German food but for my first taste? Pretty darn good.

Yelp
My overall experience was amazing!!!! This place is MASSIVE. Picnic-styled tables in a massive building. There was just so many tables to choose from so me and my friends chose the table right in front of the live entertainment. There was a band playing traditional (Bavarian????) music and it truly added to the experience. Our waitress was extremely accommodating for us foreigners. She was patient, kind, and was good at explaining the menu options for our large group. But what I especially enjoyed was their unique beer! You could mix a dark beer and a light beer and then add some honey to create MAGIC. The beer was amazing. The food, however, is just alright. Granted, this was my first time ever eating Barvarian food so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. But I cannot say I was impressed. I would come here again if I'm ever in Berlin!
google avatar

Kimber G.

Yelp
This was my first time experiencing a Hofbrauhaus anywhere and it was cool to pop my hofbrau cherry in Germany. Yes, it's insanely touristy. Yes, the food could be better. But you go for the experience of a beer hall. My bf and I both got .5L of beer (4.90 euro each) and split a pretzel app (1.80 euro). The pretzel was great and hit the spot. Menus are available in English, don't worry. Employees speak English as well. I ordered a grilled chicken steak with gravy, spaetzle, and side salad (15 euro). The portion was massive. I ate every bit and felt stuffed. You might feel like a dumb tourist for going here, but just do it once to say you did.
google avatar

Sommer G.

Yelp
If you're a meat eater like myself the Hofbräu meat plate had everything you could dream of! Schweinshaxe (Crispy pork knuckle) Leberkäse (Bavarian meatloaf) Schweinsbraten (pork roast), Bratwürst, & Weißwürst! If you're looking for a classic German Biergarten look no further than Hofbräu Haus Berlin!
google avatar

Johnny M.

Yelp
This review is mainly for the service here. It totally blows, the waiter was an arrogant and condescending a-hole, mainly because I couldn't understand German. Every time I tried to say my please and thank you'd in German, he seemed bothered, but he let me know what he meant when he said "eff u, is the the same in German and English". I finally realized what he was trying to let me know after that. But the food tasted good to me, even though I have no real experience with the cuisine, other than the local LA spots back at home.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
This slightly touristy but extremely fun restaurant is ready to serve up traditional German pub fare and lots of beer with a side of entertainment. We stopped by a little jet lagged on an early Friday night seeking an easy dinner and early to bed. We didn't have reservations but they squeezed us in at a table with our promise that we wouldn't linger more than an hour as the table was reserved later in the evening. The menu was diverse (ask for the English version if needed) so the three of us shared the seasonal pumpkin spaetzel, a meat plate, pretzel and apple strudel for dessert. There was more than enough food to share and we got to taste a variety of things. The spaetzel was our hands down favorite. None of us were beer drinkers so we were likely their lamest table of the evening. Service was friendly and the food arrived in record speed - likely because it's already cooked and just needs to be plated and served. Quality was decent for pub fare but nothing over the top spectacular. We didn't stay for the music and party - due to the table being reserved. Don't miss the traditional German clothing shop before you leave. Fun place to go - I imagine the music and beer makes this quite a party as the night wears on.

Yelp
We came here for dinner with a couple of friends, wanting to have typical German food, knowing that this place was going to be quite touristic (that doesn't automatically mean it's bad) If you like to have some "peace" make sure to ask for outside seating as the inside is more or less like a celebration hall when it's full. It was SO NOISY. It was packed with people eating and laughing, quite a scene to experience :) We ordered beers (u can get 1-litre mugs here) and had the crispy skin pork knuckle, the various sausages plate, the veal schnitzel and a salad. We were 5 and honestly that was just right as portion. A little more and we would have had a food coma. Everything was very good, everyone especially loved the pork knuckle. I definitely recommened! Come with an empty stomach lol!

Yelp
You could call this a tourist trap if you wish. However I purposefully intended to visit this place to try one or more of their 1L beers. I couldn't pass up guzzling beer from a massive stein while in Germany. We arrived and were never seated at the reception area. We were a bit confused on where to go. Since I only wanted beer, we went to the bar area hoping to order. However it's set up so that only the waiters are able to order from the bar. A waiter spotted us and ordered our beer so that we could sit outside. I wasn't given an option on which beer I would like to order. Ordinarily I wouldn't bother reviewing a place that I spent so little time but the lack of service was the reason that I didn't stick around longer. In the short period of time that it took me to down my liter oof beer, I wasn't asked if I would like another. Instead once I was finished I headed out to another place. I'm happy that I came here to try the 1L beer but that's really the only reason to visit. Get your beer, your photo op and move on to a real brewery.

Yelp
Awesome find on a freezing cold afternoon. HB in the heart of the former East Berlin. Same basic fare and ambiance as most HBs you will go to, except this is in what looks like the lobby of a 70's Soviet bureau office of some sort. If only the Stalinists would have known ... The ultimate comfort food on an especially cold day is gulaschsuppe. So dense with rich flavor its indescribable. Also had the famous Berlin currywurst which was about what I expected - a boiled hot dog with castup - not the best choice but, when in Rome ...

Yelp
This is a biergarten! I've been to the biergarten in Jersey and Hofbrau Berlin is the real deal. (Obviously! It's in Germany!) This place is huge. Lots of seating, indoors and out, tall ceilings, a stage for live music/dancing, and a good selection of wonderful beers and eats. We went on a Sunday night and it was very lively! I guess people don't have to go to work the next day! They have a menu in English, which is always helpful, especially if you don't speak German. I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered a "Small" Oktoberfest bier. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I know what I like and I enjoyed this one. (4,51 euro) My friend chose the much larger version, which came in a huge pitcher! (under 8 euro) They also sell merchandise here that would make great souvenirs for your friends back home. I really enjoyed hanging out at this biergarten and would definitely return!

Yelp
I should have looked at the reviews prior to booking a table at this location while visiting Berlin. We had a table for two and it took our waiter more than 20 minutes just to come to our table to take our initial drink orders. He was very rude, goes by the name of Chanty, and essentially ignored us for another 50 minutes. We can't help but wonder whether it was because we were American. However, I speak German and ordered our drinks in German, so I am really not sure what the problem was at this location. We finally had to get up and speak with the host since our waiter was ignoring us. Not long after that, the host spoke to the waiter and then we were taken care of. Unfortunately, the food is not worth the money or the wait, not to mention the horrendous service. It was not a good experience all around, and as many times as I have been to Bavarian beer halls in Austria, this was a total waste of time and money. If you want the true experience, got to Munich or Vienna, as they will treat you much better. Berlin has a total attitude toward Americans. Will never return to the city, and I am fluent in German.

Yelp
If you're a carnivore like myself you must try the schweinshaxe! (Ham hock/pork knuckle) I've literally never tasted such amazing succulent pork! Of course paired with a beer stein larger than your face!

Yelp
On our trip to Europe, my friends and I decided we needed to visit a classic German beer hall, and we weren't about to let us being nowhere near Bavaria slow us down. When we got there, it checked every box: live music in the front, long tables in the back, and giant steins of beer. Sounds great, right? Well, it wasn't quite the land of milch und hunig. The service was incredibly slow. We sat at our table for a good twenty minutes before our waitress showed up, even though the hall was nearly empty. The food, when we finally got it, was just okay (though the apple dessert we got was absolutely phenomenal). At least the beer was reasonably priced and flowing by the liter! So while it checks the German beer hall boxes, the actual experience is fairly middling. It made me want to go back to Germany to try a bona fide Bavarian hall all the more.

Yelp
Previous reviews of this place were not that great but my experience was wonderful. I went twice on my trip to Germany and both times my servers were very polite and courteous. I had the pork knuckle which was amazing and my beautiful bride had schnitzel which she enjoyed very much. The food was a plus but you're really going there for the atmosphere. Great live German music and a very laid-back crowd. Would highly recommend a visit.

Yelp
Good place for a photo op and for large groups... While visiting Berlin, we wanted to check out a beer hall and have some of the popular crispy pork knuckle. Hofbrau Berlin is good for this and nothing else... trust me. :) Why good photo op? Well its a huge beer hall with live music. They serve the beer in huge mugs (I forgot the size, but definitely worth a pic). While this may be standard size in Berlin, it unusual to find this in the states. The atmosphere with every chatting and having a good time with the live music also gives you that German vibe...Although I have to say that there are a ton of tourist around... chinese tourists. Why only order the crispy pork knuckle? Because that is the only good thing on the place. The pork knuckle comes with a big piece of bone inside, so meat wise... there is not that much. If you are hungry one person can finish it, otherwise it is a good platter to share. We ordered some of the combo sausages, meat loaf and sauerkraut and they were not very good. the sausages were really dry and others were bland. We ended up forcing ourselves to eat it cause we hate to waste food.

Yelp

Yelp
My friends and I visited this place back in early March 2019. The restaurant seems cool and there is a cool gift shop. The food was good as were the drinks, the reason for the 3 stars? Our waiter was a bit of a condescending human. We were trying to figure out how much everyone owed and trying to include tip (but we were discussing about whether or not you should tip in Germany etc) then he starts to make sarcastic comments about how the 30 cents that will be left over from the money we put down are going to be enough for him to buy a pair of shoes during his break. We weren't even done calculating the tip and this guy is just cracking sarcastic jokes about how if he's lucky and he's left a Euro he'll be able to afford two pairs of shoes, yay! C'mon dude, what's with the sarcasm and remarks? The service was regular, meaning nothing grand, and nothing bad, just ok. Furthermore, it was empty and we weren't about to leave without tipping him. In the end, it left a sour taste in our mouth and yes we still tipped him. Next time he should just say "I hope you all had a great time. Enjoy Germany" The end.

Yelp
This is such a Classic beerhouse and just what you want if you are looking for the beerhall/biergarten experience. The ambiance is just right and the service is always with a smile when you get your next beer delivered. Food is as you would expect heavy german style with sausage galore, schnitzel with potato salad and pork knuckle with saurkraut and knödel. All well done though and mid-range prices. The H-B beer doesnt fit here as good as the original Hofbrau in Münich but still tastes good on a hot summer day. Dont miss out visiting at least once when you are in Berlin.

Yelp
Close to where we were staying while in the city and thought we'd grab a beer to remind us of München. It is definitely a beer hall. And we had some delicious beer in litre glasses. Being vegan, eating here wasn't really an option but that's alright, it's not always about the food.

Yelp
I know it's touristy AF but idc. Still my favorite place for food from our trip to Germany! It was my and hubby's first night and Hofbrau was a stone's throw away from our hostel. We were travelling with a few friends who wanted to go, so why not. Ya we were going to Munich at the end of the week and go to the original Hofbrau, but the others were aching to go here. It didnt disappoint. The beer in Germany is really nothing like any where else. It's stronger in ABV, but more refreshing and has an almost light taste. Can't remember what I got but I had half a liter of it! Hubs and I split the classic wienershnitzel. I wasn't even hungry but we finished the whole thing. It was nice and flat and crispy. Very hearty but not heavy with oil. I'm a little ashamed. The potato salad was loaded with butter but i couldn't even tell it was soo butterh because of the acidity, maybe lemon, that was added to it. Just fantastic. Also, I know it's touristy but I absolutely loved the village folksy biergarten vibe, the super friendly service (did you know everyone in Germany can speak English?), the lively musicians, and the fact that every other customer wore dirndls and liederhosen. It was such a fantastic time. I would return again for some Bavarian/South German food in a heartbeat!
