Höfðagata gisting

I made a last minute reservation for two nights, as I was travelling around Iceland in a mini camper, but was struggling with a cold and really needed a warm abode and somewhere to stay for two consecutive nights. This was one of the best decisions I could have made. ||||I self-checked-in, which was very convenient. The room was small, but more than adequate for my needs (two single beds, I was travelling solo), and extremely clean and well equipped, with very comfortable bedding. ||||The bathrooms were nice and very clean, and had everything you could possibly need, including a hairdryer. The kitchen was well-equipped (although someone did nick my food and coke zero from the fridge!) and clean. ||||The property is located walking distance from the harbour / town centre precinct - Stykkisholmur is fairly small, so everywhere is fairly central. ||||I found this guesthouse to be really good value for money, and would definitely recommend it (especially to other solo travelers), and would stay there again.

Cozy little place with all the cooking utensils one could need. There were two bathrooms with showers shared with 4 other rooms, which is very good considering the low price. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The owner was very nice and helped us with all our problems. I would definitely recommend going here if you need a place to stay!

The guesthouse was clean and super cozy with a nice living room, kitchen and well working WIFI. Our room (4) was very small, but we had our own bathrooms, which we didn't use, cause the other bathroom was super big and clean as well and has a nice shower. ||The guesthouse isn't located in the direct centre of Stykkishólmur, but it's a small "town" anyway and only a 10 minutes walk to the harbour. We felt safe, welcome and cozy ;)

We had a comfortable stay at Hofdagata. If ever in the area again I would definitely consider staying here. Comfortable setting, with one bedroom and a sofa bed in a separate area. ||A couple of things were not working, but not critical (i.e. the coffee machine and the hot tub).||There was always someone on the phone when needed.||

I have had a perfect stay in Stykkisholmur! The living room is very cosy and made me feel like home. I can recommend the guesthouse to couples, single travellers and families. Next time in Iceland I am going to make a stop there again .

This is a cozy guest house in beautiful Stykkishólmur, a town surrounded by water. Making a reservation was very easy. Check-in was self-service. The bedroom and shared bathroom were comfortable and clean. The spacious living and dining room was a great place to relax, and the view from the picture window was spectacular. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, cooking utensils and a dishwasher. The Bónus grocery store, Stykkið Pizzagerð and community swimming pool are just a 5 minute walk away.

The apartment is good but a little small for three persons. The double bed fills all the bedroom and when you open the sofa there is no more room. The position of the house is quite central even if the town is really small.

2.5 stars :( Cons: -We got there and the house had clearly been out of toilet paper long before we arrived. 2 days in there were no more paper towels (because the guests had resorted to using them as toilet paper). Called the number listed on the reservation to ask for toilet paper and the confused property owner picked up and asked how I got his number. Someone did come by with toilet paper within the hour! :) -I also found that the dishwasher was filled with moldy dishes that certainly hadn't been touched for awhile. Ick... Pros: -Good location -Easy parking -Comfortable bed -Bathroom surfaces were clean I was left with the impression that the property is disorganized and that the manager barely bothers to clean the place. I would change my rating to 3.5 (or even 4) stars if the place had been properly cleaned and stocked. Your options for travel accommodations are limited out here, but the price was way too high for a guesthouse that hadn't been prepared for its guests.
