"Following in the Footsteps of Bavarian Royalty The courtyard adjacent to the Munich Residence was commissioned by Duke Maximilain I and was designed to resemble an Italian Renaissance Garden. It is a place to get away from it all, right in the middle of the city. Shrub-lined gravel paths are a relaxing place to walk around or take it easy on one of the Hofgarten's many benches and enjoy the flowers or a good book. In summer, the sounds of violins, clarinets, or cellos float from the nearby pavilion. Café Tambosi also has tables set up in the courtyard, where you can enjoy a beer under the shade of the trees."

These gardens are truly charming. It’s a delight to stroll along the shaded paths, with the trees offering gentle shelter from the sun, and the Royal Palace rising elegantly in the background. The layout of the garden is simple, yet serene. My favorite part is the area surrounding the war memorial—beautifully maintained, framed on one side by a graceful, arch-like structure made of stones.

Peaceful and beautifully maintained park right next to the city center. Great place for a quiet walk, to relax under the trees, or just enjoy the calm atmosphere. A hidden gem in Munich!

A flat and beautiful garden. Here you can meet the birds resting on the fountain, the old men throwing balls in a group, the girls dancing in the middle pavilion, the ducks sleeping in the grass.

Hofgarten is a tranquil garden located right next to the Munich Residence (Residenz), offering a peaceful escape in the heart of the city. This beautifully landscaped garden features neat pathways, well-maintained lawns, and a central Diana Temple, all contributing to a serene and picturesque setting. The garden is perfect for a relaxing stroll or simply sitting on one of the benches and enjoying the quiet ambiance. The surrounding trees offer plenty of shade, making it a pleasant spot to rest, especially on warm days. The proximity to the Munich Residence adds to its appeal, as you can easily combine a visit to the residence with some time in the peaceful garden.

Google
Not really recommendable to visit in the rainy weather like I did: a) you can't make good pics, b) it gets quite muddy too. But still a nice experience, makes me want to come back.

Yelp
This spacious garden is beautifully maintained with multiple walking paths, a pergola where musicians were playing classical music and exterior views of courthouse buildings.

Yelp
Hofgarten is a beautiful park very near the Englischer Garten. It consists mostly of lawnscapes with floral borders lining the pathways. It was raining the day we visited, so there weren't many people utilizing the space, but I can see how it would be a nice place to have a small picnic and escape the hustle and bustle of every day life. 33/2021

Yelp
A beautiful and well-maintained open public garden somewhat between Marienplatz and the English Garden. Right beside Odeonplatz. It's a great place to people watch, take a break, wander around outside if the day is nice, or sit and enjoy a coffee and snack from one of the nearby shops. As with all of Munich, this is a beautiful public place for people to gather and enjoy the city. Love love love.

Yelp
This peaceful park was a nice spot to stop during my exploration of Munich. Interesting to watch the multiple bocce matches happening along the interior. The garden was built between 1613 and 1617 by Maximillian I, Elector of Bavadia. It is in the style of an Italian Renaissance garden and has been rebuilt following extensive damage by Allied bombing during World War II.. I'm bummed that I missed seeing the White Rose Memorial, which commemorates a group of non-violent protestors who were killed by Hitler's regime. Odeonsplatz is located adjacent to the park. Yelp
When I go to the city, I love going to Hofgarten with a coffee and to sit down and chill or just even to have a stroll. It is a gorgeous little park close to the city centre, it is well maintained and people can usually find a place to sit and chill.

Yelp
Hofgarten is a very peaceful park perfect for a walk or relaxing on the benches for a break from the busy and loud city. There weren't that many people so it wasn't crowded. While it's probably not worth going out of your way for, if you just happen to be in the area and need somewhere quite, this is a good spot.

Yelp
The Hofgarten is a really nice park to walk through as the gardens are as well. When I walked through these gardens there was a pianist playing great classics as though he were a professional musician. I suppose from the donations received he is indeed a professional. There wasn't a single key off tune. I wonder how he got the piano there, I imagine it was quite arduous to get it in the pavilion. Especially, alone through the gravel. Needless to say it was quite the romantic ambience. The beautiful gardens with the talented pianist playing classical pieces with the water fountain running in the background.

Yelp
I found this park to be very pretty, with its historical landmark and pretty flower garden. It is a very peaceful park; perfect for a light stroll with plenty of benches. I think Hofgarten is a wonderful getaway from the loud city just outside of the Arc de Triomphe. Walking through the gardens you will spot plenty of little critters and pets with their owners, or musicians playing light instruments whilst adjusting to the seasonal air. Without a doubt, come bring a book and nestle under a tree, but don't be alarmed if a little critter comes towards you x

Yelp
Taking a stroll overlooking the sunset on a lovely summer night- it was perfect. There wasn't many people and there are benches you can sit on and just people watch or read etc. very nice for some time away from the busy city to sit in peace and quiet.

Yelp
I like cutting through here when on my way to the English Garden after getting off at Odeonsplatz.

Yelp
Beautiful garden, and the perfect place to kill an afternoon! Bring a book and sit outside in the sun :)

Yelp
Nothing spectacular this inviting garden next to the Residenz provides a quick respite after the dull exploration of the Residenz Museum. Grab a snack and sit on one of the many benches or lawn areas to take in a few moments of sun. I would imagine several hundred years ago the Hofgarten was more spectacular and better kept up but today is still serves as a resting spot for those needing a break.

Yelp
Beautiful, large park that is a Renaissance-era garden/grounds. Very quiet and uncrowded when I visited. Central gazebo is beautiful along with extensive collonades that border the garden. There is also a gigantic glass-roofed building inside, the war memorial or Kriegerdenkmal. Did not visit in there, however.
