I would give this Hostel 4.5 as it was the best so far I've stayed in & good value for money. Everything looks so new. The bathroom & showers were excellent. The 10 bed bunk bed room was fine with good layout, spacious & comfortable beds. The best is the quality of the communal spaces in which to prepare your food & relax. I also arrived wet & was surprised to find an excellent drying room in the basement. Next to it is a small hill where you can watch the sun rise. I didn't take much photos as people were in the room & I arrived late & tired.

We had a fantastic stay at this hostel. It was extremely clean and with a great layout. The bedrooms looked brand new and I liked how it had a sink in it so we could brush our teeth without going to the Beth pond. The owners were there and very friendly and gave wonderful advice for the rest of our trip. Parking was a breeze and they also had an EV charger which we were able to use on our rental car! If you are considering visiting this area - you should definitely stay here! We had the best time!

Manager Lena really made this place a gem. She explained the rules in such a friendly manner it made for a pleasant experience for everyone. The room was a bit small, but fine for a couple nights. Everything was sparklingly clean, quiet, with a large shared kitchen with plenty of seating areas and space in fridge/freezer for food and ice packs. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate always available. Even had an EV charger.

The hostel is ideally located in Höfn close to the Ring Road and offers freshly renovated rooms and bathrooms (May 2025). The guest kitchen is extremely well-equipped with brand-new utensils - one of the best we've ever seen in a hostel. A friendly lady at the reception made check-in smooth and welcoming. Stunning views from the terrace of the glaciers, and the pricing is fair (even quite affordable by Icelandic standards). Only downside: the self-service laundry is overpriced - but that's a very minor issue :)

Pretty nice for a hostel. Rooms are decent with a sink but they heat up extremely quickly. You can do laundry but it's abysmally expensive. Seriously, we paid around 20€ for washing and drying. The guests are total pigs though. Toilets left unflushed, washrooms left flooded and noisy at midnight and beyond. Good reminder why I don't like hostels. You have to take your shoes off but walking in socks feels groce.

Big kitchen, big dining area, and big fridge, very good for cooking dinner for yourself. Room and bathroom are decent enough. One of the best accomodations on my ring road trip

My friends and I were initially worried about booking our stay in a hostel. However, upon checking in, our concerns were immediately washed away. HOFN HI HOSTEL is very clean and homey. We had our own peivate bathroom so we did not have any issues. Shoes are not allowed to be worn inside and they provide baskets /boxes for your shoes. We are asians so we definitely agree with this. However, I highly recommend that you take the box with your shoes inside your room because someone stole my friend's birkenstock slippers.

Very clean hostel overall with a spacious and well equipped kitchen and friendly staff. If you like fresh air though, a big downside: The heating system in the rooms is automatic, so it is not possible to sleep with the window open and heating OFF. You cannot set the heating lower than setting 2, and if you open the window the heater turns on automatically. So it’s either sleeping with the window closed and heater off (uncomfortable and cramped) or sleeping with the window open and heating on (also uncomfortable). It would really make the night so much better if guests had the option themselves to decide how cold/warm they want their room to be when they’re sleeping.
