Huge nature area with 40 km of cycle tracks plus loads of walking trails. Bikes are included in the entry fee. Quite expensive to take the car in but it is 3km from the entrance to the central visitor centre . Not crowded at all and open until 10pm in June and July with the restaurant serving until 9.30pm. Well worth a visit.

This national park is great for all kinds of visits, from family visits to solo visits and even vacation. There are plenty of free facilities for you to fill your day with excitement. You can bring your own bike or rent a free bike at the location. It is very accessible by car and there are plenty of bike in each park entrance for you to be using. You can park in a parking lot in every entrance and only paying €4.75 for a whole day! You may encounter different scenarios of wild animals, I encountered a wild boar. If you have a children, you can go to one of the playground near the large hub in the middle. You don’t need to worry about peeing there, as there is a lot of free to use bathrooms for you to enjoy in the park, as most toilet needs to pay to enter in Europe. I strongly recommend that you should bring your picnic accessories with you to picnic, as there is plenty of green grass and good view for you to picnic on.

Spent the whole afternoon here, biked the whole national park loop, took us about 3hrs including stops for pics and deer viewing. Scenery is super nice from lush forests to dunes and dry grasses (Safari feels!). White bikes are free! One size only for adults, good enough for me (5ft), all bikes only with footbrake :D

We visited the park on a sunny day, and it was nice. The free white bikes (with pedal brakes) are available at the main entrances and the museum, and cycling around was a fun way to explore. It’s easy to cover quite a bit of ground, and the landscapes change as you go, so it doesn’t feel quite boring. We didn’t see many animals, just a deer or two and some birds, but there are spots where you can sit and wait. We weren’t actively looking for wildlife, though. One thing to note is that you have to pay for the park entrance if you just want to visit the Kröller-Müller Museum, which some might find annoying. The museum itself was nice, and the sculpture garden is worth checking out. If you can, bring your own food or picnic as there are places to sit and eat. If you’re leaving through the Hoenderloo entrance, grab an ice cream from IJs van Co. It’s a sweet way to end the day.

The park is indeed very beautiful, however the price is a little too high considering that the nearby Veluwezoom (equally beautiful) is 100% free. There is a rich network of bike paths, animals I haven’t seen (except for birds) but it’s probably dependent on the time of visit

Beautiful park for cycling. Different routes and well signposted. Bikes are included in the admission price and you can buy a map or take a pic of one. Excellent visitor centre. One complaint - no toilets at the Schaarberg entrance, you have to drive into the park or cycle about 2km. Actually two complaints-the Otterlo entrance was closed and not a was aware until we got there

After more than 50 years hearing about and passing this park along its fences, finally I visited it. What a gem! The combination of nature, activity (cycling on free white bikes or walking on well marked tracks), architecture, and the wonderful Kröller-Müller Museum of modern art (world’s 2nd biggest collection of Van Gogh!), makes this visit a perfect day-long program.

Fun day trip place Cycle around the park The cycles are slightly uncomfortable so if you have the possibility of bringing your own please do! Very pretty dunes present. You will feel like you're in the middle East We went in great weather Well maintained Couldn't spot any animals though Washroom is 5 km bike ride from the gate which was a bit of a task to address 😄

Yelp
The De Hoge Veluwe National Park is situated in Arnheim, in the Netherlands. There are several entrances to the park, which is very large - some 55,000 hectares in size. The main entrance leads the way to Marchentheim, the visitor's centre. Along the way, and scattered in several spots throughout the park there are thousands of white bicycles in racks, which are free for visitors to use. This seems a great idea, as the park is so vast, it means that visitors can explore parts of it on bicycle, and parts on foot. Also near the visitor's centre is a museum, aimed at children, which is mainly underground and shows some examples of the flora and fauna to be seen in the park. Further into the park, across some sand dunes, is the St. Hubertus hunting lodge, a purpose-built building for watching the deer in the field behind. There's a collection of antlers, which are surprisingly heavy, and information posters on the walls. Also for children is an orienteering tour, where children follow a colourful trail in order to spot various examples of the wildlife.

Yelp
Amazing nature experience. My family rented a tandem bike and went all around the park. The play area at the bike rental center was amazing and they had a wide selection of food in the local restaurant. The highlight was the museum located in the middle of the park. My family ran out of time to explore it, so I recommend making this the first stop on the trip. The museum has several van Gogh, but also Picasso, Mondrian, and Seurat. Make sure you take a bag with some food and water. Enjoy getting lost on the trails!
