This Is Officially the Top Best-Value Destination in the World in 2024

"Hội An is one of Vietnam’s most charming and atmospheric cities. Known for its affordability, the city offers lower restaurant and bar charges and a significant drop in the value of the Vietnamese dong. It is great for travelers on a budget and offers pristine beaches, fascinating historical sites, and a vibrant night market."

A lively and vibrant spot in the heart of the Old Town! The lantern-lit streets are magical at night — perfect for photos. You’ll find everything from souvenirs to street food like grilled skewers, coconut ice cream, and Vietnamese pancakes. It can get crowded, but that’s part of the charm. Great place for a casual evening stroll, snack-hunting, and soaking in the festive vibe. 🎨 Don’t miss the lantern stalls — they make the whole market glow!

I suggest spending at least a full day at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The atmosphere changes beautifully from morning to evening, offering a truly unique experience at different times of the day. You'll find many charming cafes around — perfect for relaxing and soaking in the local vibe. 🥳😊👏 However, be prepared to see many similar shops along the streets, which might feel a bit repetitive after a while.

Hoi An Night Market is a magical experience not to be missed. Lit up with colorful lanterns and full of life, it offers a unique blend of local flavors, handmade crafts, and cultural charm. The aromas of street food draw you in, while the floating lanterns on the river create a romantic, almost cinematic atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to sample local sweets, shop for souvenirs, or simply stroll and take in the vibrant colors and rhythm of the city. Although popular with tourists, it still feels authentic and gives you a true taste of Vietnam’s lively nighttime culture.

It was just too much. Too many people too many everything. You barely could enjoy it. The least favorite place I’ve ever visited in Vietnam. However, if you like shopping this is perfect, love the clothes they sell here.

It has its atmosphere but the people there are too greedy. don’t buy anything at the night market or cut the price in half minimum. The prices are too high for the same mass market souvenirs. Silk is not silk there, it’s just polyester blend. Be careful. I was caught in the street by a woman, she suggested 450K for a night boat ride. She said it’s a good price and they are about to close. I agreed to 300K. That was a total scam. Only 15 mins and normal price is only 150 K for two!!! Be careful with them !

We visited this place by chance during the day, then returned later that night as planned. It was nice to walk around, explore, and try some local street food and a few unique dishes. It’s worth visiting for the experience, but unfortunately, due to the rain, about 30–40% of the stalls were closed. Maybe it would be better on a clear day, but for us, it ended up being more of a one time visit.

A charming riverside market that comes alive at night with vibrant lanterns, street food, and local crafts. The entire area is beautifully lit, especially around the canal, making it a very photogenic place. You can find lots of souvenirs, snacks, and drinks like herbal lotus tea. There are cultural houses to visit nearby, including a Japanese-style exhibit. The boat lantern experience was magical and peaceful — definitely a highlight of Hoi An. The place does get crowded, so be prepared for some walking and queues. Some vendors may not speak much English, but everyone was friendly. Prices vary, so it’s good to compare before buying. ✅ Great for evening strolls, photos, and local snacks 📸 Tip: Visit at sunset and stay until nightfall for the full experience

Definitely must visit if you are in Danang. Recommend to set off around 3pm from Danang, as the weather will be cooler by then. Goods sold at the market are similar everywhere else, so you are really going for the vibes and night lights. Releasing the lanterns to make a wish is a popular activity, and you can see a long line of people queuing. Overall we had a great half day at Hoi An!
