This place is a vibrant explosion of color and energy that is absolutely unmissable when the sun goes down. However, "peaceful" is the last word I’d use to describe it—the crowds are overwhelmingly intense, and you’ll find yourself shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of other tourists.🇻🇳 ​The highlight, without a doubt, is the stunning display of silk lanterns. Hundreds of them glow in every shade imaginable, creating a magical backdrop that makes the chaotic queuing for photos feel somewhat worth it. It’s a photographer’s dream, provided you have the patience to navigate the sea of people. ​When it comes to the food, it’s a mixed bag. You’ll see endless stalls selling everything from banh mi to grilled pork skewers and the famous "banana pancakes." To be fair, the street food is nothing extraordinary—it’s mostly generic snacks meant for quick consumption. You eat here for the buzzing atmosphere rather than a gourmet experience. ​What makes it bearable is the location. Situated right by the Hoai River, the cool breeze and the sight of floating paper lanterns help soothe the exhaustion of walking through the packed aisles. It’s loud, it’s crowded, and it’s a bit commercial, but the sheer energy of the market is something you have to feel at least once. Just keep your bags close and your camera ready!🖤🧡❤

Prices are reasonable, and bargaining is part of the fun. 🍜 Delicious street food One of the biggest highlights is the food. You can try local specialties like bánh mì, tapioca snacks, fresh fruit, and famous noodle dishes. The Lantern Night Market is absolutely mesmerising. The view at night is stunning, with lanterns lighting up the entire place and creating a magical atmosphere. The boat ride is a must-do—peaceful, beautiful, and perfectly timed for the evening glow. The food options are fantastic, with something for everyone, and everything we tried was delicious. Overall, it’s an amazing experience and the perfect place to spend your evening soaking in great views, good food, and vibrant energy. Highly recommended! ✨

🎺If you wanna find somewhere to forget your boring life, this is exactly the right choice. You will see hundreds of visitors even walking together or sing songs with some amateur bands here. During lunar new year, the temperature here is perfect for a traveling since it is quite cool with breeze from the river. The temperature is even more better in the evening where you can see different colors of lighters from bars or restaurants. ✒️Note that if you find Asian foods or seafoods, this old town is not the right address. You should go to the Cua Dai inlet where is about 4-5km from here with relatively cheap prices and high quality.

Hoi An night market the place to explore and see color. I have never seen such a beautiful city with so many color and lanternw. It is the perfect place to see local life. It is right by the river in the middle of the Old Town. I did a boat ride, had a nice bear with rock music and talked to so many local people. You will find every country person

Very crowded, but pretty, bright and bustling. Could only get here by walking at night but quite accessible and not a long stretch. Shops were bit more expensive compared to Da Nang. Heard food here was decent. Boat rides are well regulated so price is fixed at one boat for 170k vnd (1-3 pax) or 220k (4-5 pax). Lanterns are sold by people walking around on land at around 40k, but have seen other reviews at 20k. The lady who sold us was really nice though, because we were lost and she took time to bring us to the ticket booths (which are just counters set up arnd the area). You then wait in long lines for the boat but it moved pretty fast, waited around 15 mins. Peaceful and quick 20 min ride where you can release your lantern to float on the waters. I believe you can also release them from land if you do not want to take the boat. There are also other special, more fanciful boats which cost more. There are people who will approach you to sell those services, but I feel the main and common 170k one is sufficient. Decent experience, although I wouldn't personally get any souvenirs here, and it was extremely overcrowded and touristy which made it quite underwhelming. Boat ride was worth the experience though.

There’s a great mix of local street food, souvenir shops, handmade lanterns, clothes, and small gifts, making it perfect for both shopping and just strolling around. The vibe is lively but not chaotic, and it’s easy to take your time, explore, and soak in the atmosphere. Every evening feels festive, with music, smiling vendors, and tourists and locals enjoying the space together. What I loved most was how relaxed and charming the market feels compared to night markets in bigger cities. It’s not just about shopping or eating—it’s about experiencing Hoi An’s culture and slow-paced charm at night. A must-visit if you’re in Hoi An, and definitely worth going more than once.
