This Is Officially the Top Best-Value Destination in the World in 2024

"Hội An is one of Vietnam’s most charming and atmospheric cities. Known for its affordability, the city offers lower restaurant and bar charges and a significant drop in the value of the Vietnamese dong. It is great for travelers on a budget and offers pristine beaches, fascinating historical sites, and a vibrant night market."

Very crowded, but pretty, bright and bustling. Could only get here by walking at night but quite accessible and not a long stretch. Shops were bit more expensive compared to Da Nang. Heard food here was decent. Boat rides are well regulated so price is fixed at one boat for 170k vnd (1-3 pax) or 220k (4-5 pax). Lanterns are sold by people walking around on land at around 40k, but have seen other reviews at 20k. The lady who sold us was really nice though, because we were lost and she took time to bring us to the ticket booths (which are just counters set up arnd the area). You then wait in long lines for the boat but it moved pretty fast, waited around 15 mins. Peaceful and quick 20 min ride where you can release your lantern to float on the waters. I believe you can also release them from land if you do not want to take the boat. There are also other special, more fanciful boats which cost more. There are people who will approach you to sell those services, but I feel the main and common 170k one is sufficient. Decent experience, although I wouldn't personally get any souvenirs here, and it was extremely overcrowded and touristy which made it quite underwhelming. Boat ride was worth the experience though.

Hoi An Night Market is a nice spot for an evening walk and soaking in the atmosphere. It’s lively, colorful, and great for strolling around after sunset. You’ll find plenty of options to eat local food, grab tea or coffee, and sit down at some really good restaurants nearby. That said, not everything there is worth the money. The leather shops inside the market are noticeably expensive. If you’re planning to buy leather products, it’s much better to shop outside the night market where prices are more reasonable and quality is just as good, if not better. The boat ride is something I personally wouldn’t recommend. It’s overpriced for what you get, and the experience feels rushed. The aunties selling candles can be very pushy, which takes away from the charm. Honestly, it’s better to click a few photos, enjoy the view, and move on. There are also many lantern shops, but be aware that some charge 10,000 VND per person just for photos or videos, which feels excessive. Almost everything in this area is heavily monetised, often without adding much value to the experience. Overall, Hoi An Night Market is worth visiting once for the walk, food, and vibes, but go in with realistic expectations and spend your money wisely.

Hoi An Night Market is lively, beautiful, and very tourist-friendly—but it helps to know what to expect. First, prices are not fixed. Bargaining is normal here, and vendors usually start high. If you’re polite and smile, negotiations stay friendly. You don’t need to be aggressive—walking away often works better than pushing too hard. Second, the people. Vendors and staff are generally kind and patient. Even when I didn’t buy anything, most of them stayed friendly, which made the market feel less exhausting than other tourist-heavy night markets. If you’re staying in Da Nang, transportation matters. I strongly recommend using the Grab app instead of random taxis. The fare is clear, the route is reliable, and it removes stress—especially for solo travelers. Overall, this market isn’t about getting the cheapest deal. It’s about atmosphere, safety, and ease of travel. Go in relaxed, and you’ll enjoy it much more.

Very lively and yet preserved the original felling of the ancient town. The appearance and feeling is gone in the day time. Once you have a nice experienced during night time here, dont come here in the day time. The street looks dull, the river water looks dirty... for the sake of remembrance, maintain the memory of the night time.

Brilliant vibrant market with lots of stalls selling various things... Small food stalls and larger restaurants and bars with excellent food and some have live bands playing . Really fun setting and very enjoyable to simply walk around ... Beautifully lit up wirh hanging lanterns in places where you can pay as little as 20k dong to take pictures up close (they even take it for you using your camera or phone ) Vibrant and brilliant ... very beautifully set up by the water ... Loads of little boats offering rides. Absolutely fantastic

I had an amazing experience at the Hoi An Night Market! Visiting at night is truly magical, with the entire river lit up by beautiful lamps and numerous boats creating a picturesque scene. One of the highlights is lighting a candle and setting it afloat on the river, which makes the entire water sparkle. The market itself is large, bustling, and offers a fantastic variety of shopping and delicious local dishes. Overall, it’s a must-visit for anyone in the area!

12/12/25. Ancient Town's Glittering Night Market. The Hội An Night Market is a highly colorful and atmospheric tourist draw by the river. In the evening, the labyrinth of small streets by the river becomes aglow with thousands of colorful lanterns in different shapes and sizes. This labyrinth of streets is alive with excited energy with a wide variety of shops and stalls. Hoi An specialties like leather goods, foldable lanterns, a plethora of local handicrafts, ceramics, jewelry and small trinkets ideal for memorable souvenirs to remember Hoi An and Da nang by.

Really cool experience with such beautiful and vibrant colours everywhere. Great spot to just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. Even better if you want some tasty street food to go with it.
