The houseboat size Premier was perfect for four adults. Plenty of room to move around and not have to do the side squish by. Very clean and quite comfortable. We did have an issue with a loose cable and the engine wouldn’t start. A call to the main office and within minutes an awesome mechanic ( woman at that) came out and had us up running in now time. Every staff member were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. Already planning another trip next year with Holiday Harbor.

We had a great time for 1 week on a houseboat. The equipment was well maintained and didn’t have any issues. The orientation was concise and covered everything we needed to know to operate the boat. Overall it was great! We’ll be back.

Google
Nice cute campground and most of the staff is very friendly, and the lake itself is beautiful. However, if you're looking to rent a boat (houseboat, speedboat etc.), I'd look elsewhere. The boats are outdated, and their "nicest" boat wasn't working so we had to go with one that wasn't as nice. Additionally, they charged $100 extra for a popped tube that deflated on its own (was NOT our fault that it deflated). Overall, good place to stay, not a good place to rent.

Wonderful experience - We rented two houseboats and had a large group. The check-in process is a pain but checkout is smooth.||||The boats are generally in good condition, clean and all the equipment was working. We took the help of the staff to drive us back to the marina and they were very helpful.||||It is a beautiful lake!!!

We rented a big houseboat through Holiday Harbor over the labor day weekend. It was an overall good experience. The staff were super friendly, phone calls were answered promptly before the trip for the questions we had. However the houseboat is old, there were a couple of not so minor technical issues: 1) boat ramp (used to step on and off to shore) felt off the ramp track twice during the 4-day trip, but can’t be put back into track without getting into water and using proper tools. So the first time we ended up driving back to the harbor to have it fixed. Again, the staff were friendly and eager to fix it. But it wasted us half day to have this issue resolved. The second time we had to jump into water and unscrew the chain to fix it ourselves in order to save time. 2) the second technical issue was that the engine battery voltage was kind of low (voltage meter pointing at the yellow/green edge), so starting engine was tricky and takes multiple trials.

Nice spot but access to the water from campsites was a little challenging. Had to climb down steep narrow stairs. Great if you have a boat though. Staff very friendly and accomodating.

Google
The location to tour Lake Shasta was great. We were disappointed that the lake level was so low. We expected our site to back up to a cove of the lake. It did — only 200 or 300 feet lower! Also, while there was WiFi it was extremely weak to non existant.

Google
We had so much fun. The houseboat was perfect, the scenery was beautiful and it was amazing to spend so much time on the lake. The water is incredible! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you Holiday Harbor!

Yelp
Have rented multiple times from Holiday Harbor, their customer service fabulous as always! We had a couple of issues with our rental--Manager Leslie and Tech Shana responded immediately, letting us get on with our day on the lake! What a great way for our group of 14--(with 7 of us "youngsters" turning 70) to celebrate our big 7-0 on the lake. We'll be back to celebrate on the beautiful lake (via Holiday Harbor) for all the birthdays to come! Thank you!

Yelp
We're on our 5th time with Holiday Harbor and might be our last if the biggest issue is the lack of maintenance. We have had so many problems, starting from when we first got in and the water heater wasn't working because it was not lit. The kitchen outlets aren't working, ESPECIALLY THE SCREEN SLIDING DOORS ARE JUNK - they open and the track is bent, and it's not easy to close when it falls off every time, and screws are coming loose! We put ice cream in the fridge and it melted because they really don't supply much like they used to - no hand soap or paper towels! The AC kinda works but I highly recommend bringing a fan and a battery bank so you're not running the generator at night. And as we are docking the boat, some issues off the bat. The cheap blinds come off easily, and both door locks don't seem to lock properly. One of the biggest issues was the boat's steering wheel, which wouldn't straighten out - it kept veering left the entire time. However, the boat itself performed well for the most part. Additionally, be sure to bring extras, just in case: · BBQ tools · Extension cord · Fans · Soap For references this houseboat isthe premier #36

Yelp
We had the best time on the lake last weekend. 3 families. 6 adults. 10 kids, ages 8-16. None of us had been house boating before but some had boat experience. We rented 3 boats. A ski boat. 2 jet skis (for a few hours) We cruised. We skied. We fished. We campfired. The kids slept on the roof. We swam. We floated. We skied. We played games. We laughed. Holiday Harbor was perfect. Super helpful staff. Lots of snacks. Boats were clean and well maintained. Lovely harbor too. We didn't want to leave the dock!

Yelp
TLDR: This place is dangerous. They honestly don't give a $ht. A fkkin nightmare. Ruined the last leg of our honeymoon, with a dislocated finger and trip to the Emergency Room. No refund for a half day rental, that was only on the water for 15 minutes. No partial refund, not even a call back from the elusive "manager", after several messages and complaints made. _______________________ On Thursday 8/3/23, I called ahead to make a reservation for a couple of paddle boards, and the person on the phone was welcoming and told us they had plenty of "toys" to rent, no need for a reservation- anytime around 1pm, no problem! We got there at 1:10pm, was given a hard stare and was asked if we had a reservation. After explaining that we called ahead what we were told, again we were rebuffed saying that they really don't like to rent anything out after 2pm. I looked at the clock it was 1:25pm. We were asked if perhaps we might want an hourly rental? and finally a begrudging acceptance of a half day rental. After asking our home address, phone numbers, and a half hearted attempt to see our IDs, and finally payment- we were given vague instructions about how to get the paddle boards- the only thing that was crystal clear was that we absolutely had to be back before 5pm. After a few more rounds of trying to get clear information we were told to go and meet them to get the paddle board, the "them" was a youth, who didn't know where the boards were, and tried to find the right sized lifejackets in a tangled disorganized mess of pile. He did help my partner on his board and thereby ensured that the fin was in the front while verbally telling us that the fin should be in the back. My paddle board had no cargo tie down- so if I went under- everything I had carabinered together would be lost. It took us about 5 minutes of my partner desperately failing to navigate to figure out that the board backwards, and another 5 minutes to realize the absent cargo ties were not going to work and that we needed to get back to the dock. 5 minutes to get back to the (now deserted) dock, and 3 seconds for my partner to dislocate his finger in the struggle to get back on dock without staff assistance. We were on the water for maybe 15 mins. He thought it was broken. He was in immense pain. We were calling out for help- and there was no one to be seen. He managed to get on the dock and went looking for help- I saw a staff in the distance and called to her- she ignored my calls- and went straight out to assist another renter just coming into dock. My partner walked down several feet where he was given a half a pound of ice and the info that they had no first aid training nor supplies- nothing, just the address to three different emergency rooms and advice that the only ER that would be likely to take care of us is the one that was furthest away from where we were- 16 miles away. Given our recent experiences- we believed them. His left index finger was dislocated and needed to be reset. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the ER. Me in my bikini, and him dripping wet with melting half pound bag of ice in his lap. I managed to call back to explain what happened and ask for refund, or even just only charge us for a hour rental. I knew from the youth at the docks that they wanted the rentals back at 5 because the office closed at 5:30- to give people time to get in and walk up to the office. I called at 4:55, and the lady who picked up the phone told me, "I'm very sorry but our office is now closed, and I need to check in with a manager about your request for refund- can I call you back in the morning?" I'm exhausted. My love is injured. The ER waiting room is chaos. I acquiesce. 11:30am the next day- I've heard nothing back. I called back and get the same run- around. Our manager isn't in, I'll have them call you as soon as they do. No calls- no $hts given. We paid for a half day rental and got 15 minutes in the water, a trip to the ER, a week + of pain and loss function in his left hand. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Will cross post this review.

Yelp
My family and I have been renting from holiday harbor for years. We have created the best memories with our friends and family and look forward to this trip every summer. The boats are super clean and in great shape and the staff is amazing. We cannot say enough great things about this place other than it's like coming home every summer.

Morgan s.

Yelp
I had the time of my life here and can't wait to go back this upcoming summer! We rented one of the smaller boats to stay on for a few days and it was everything we were looking for and more! Friendly staff and gorgeous boats for rent, there is no shortage of things to do on the lake and plenty of room to stretch out and find your own perfect nook if the lake to dock in for your stay!

Zach S.

Yelp
I went here last summer with a large group of family and friends and I really could not recommend it enough. From the friendly workers at the harbor, to the rentals being exactly what everyone was looking for this is an amazing place for a family weekend trip or vacation. Thank you very much for the experience and I will absolutely return to the beautiful lake Shasta and will return to Holiday Harbor with the family next summer

Yelp
Went here last august for a little house boating trip with some friends and family and everyone had a blast!! We are even planning another trip for this year!! Let the good times roll!!

Yelp
We love Holiday Harbor. Been a moorage customer for two years and we've only seen the worst of times due to the drought and pandemic. The HH community of house boat owners is friendly, helpful, and fun fun fun. It's a family. Marina staff really seem to care and often go out of their way to ensure customers are happy. Mooring rates are fair. Love the mountain views and position on the lake. Would highly recommend. Tradeoffs... dock surface is worn and slips don't have power or water. We've considered other marinas but are attached to the HH community.

Yelp
Pretty disappointing experience with this company. A group of us rented your Empress boat with Holiday Harbor over memorial weekend. Sunday afternoon we brought the boat back to the dock to refuel and had a mechanic take a look at the boat because our friend who works on boats in the US coastguard informed her that there was an issue with either our engine or starter. She took a look and said there was nothing wrong and to just "play with it" if the engine shuts off again. Quickly after leaving the dock, this happened 4 more times until the motor no longer turned on at all and we were then stranded in the middle of the lake. We left numerous voicemails since this was around 5 PM, until the sheriffs were able to pull us to the closest shoreline to dock for the evening. It was an unsettling experience as the island was rocky and we came undone during the night. This left us floating, running into other boats due to having no control, for over 15 hours until we were able to get ahold of a member of your staff. We then had to be towed back that morning which took up 8-11 AM which then ended our trip. We were supposed to have the boat until 3 PM Monday. Since we had this unsettling experience and lost a full days worth, after coming to the Holiday Harbor for help and their team approving sending us back out, I reached out to their team to be comped for the day. Many of the management lacked any empathy and didn't really care to take the time out of their day to speak to us. I was then given Kevin, the operation manager's information, that I emailed twice, and called and spoke to a member of the team who passed my message along, and received 0 responses. I typically don't take the time to write a bad review, but am extremely disappointed in how this company responded after the fact and hope others have a better experience.

Yelp
Rented a fishing boat from Holiday Harbor. We enjoyed our half day on the lake, but the process to get and return the boat could have been a lot smoother. The check in desk had one person working so it took some time to get checked in. Then we were told to go down to the dock, and there will be someone to orient us. We got down to the dock and walked all the way out to the toy boat area and there was no one around at all. Finally, we found one of the houseboat staff who called someone. From there, we were off and it was good. No real problems with the boat. We did not get lucky with the fish but had a great time puttering around the lake and made some duck friends. When we returned, we were told we could stop by the shop for a final receipt, but by the time we got to the shop 15 min later, the dock still had not reported in our gas usage and we had to wait another 10 min. I would consider renting again but would factor in extra time before and after.

Yelp
Dry and dusty but clean and tidy. Small campground mostly for RVs. Includes restrooms with showers and laundry facilities. Picnic table and electrical and water at each site Renting a boat is a must because campground is 200 steps from water.

Carmelo C.

Yelp
The customer service was superb from the check-in down to the boat crew. Very thorough on details and I really like the checklist before checking out the boat. We will come back and do it again. It is a lot better experience enjoying the lake after the pick season. Less crown and quieter nights.

Yelp
I and four buddies (who have known one another for decades) have rented houseboats for several years as a "guy's week" away from our individual lives for a 4-day fellowship/reunion together. We first began at another reservoir in California, but for the past several years, we have been associated w/ Holiday Harbor on Lake Shasta. Over that period, from initial booking to closing out at the end of our excursions, it has been nothing short of a perfect experience. The houseboats have been clean, well maintained and free of any operational difficulties whatsoever. The staff from the ladies who handle the telephones & check-ins/outs, to the shuttle driver, to the deck crew are over-the-top friendly, accommodating and helpful. It is an absolutely pleasurable occasion. This year, due to the drought, thus the extremely low level of Lake Shasta, the on/off boarding was particularly challenging due to the steep decline from where we could park to actually getting on to the floating docks. Had we had to depend on our own grit, it might have taken well over two hours both on and off boarding. However, to our rescue were two wonderful young men who eagerly assisted us at both the beginning and end of our visit. I can't begin to tell you how grateful 5 old guys were for this assistance. I'm sure I speak for my other 4 companions that the $80 we tipped them was the best money we'd spent in weeks!

Yelp
On our first day we unloaded our cars and were given an orientation for operating the boat. We were also informed that we should not try calling for help after 5 or before 8 as there is no one on staff and our calls and voicemails would not be answered or responded to. There is no radio or on call team overnight. We received help from Rusty, who was very friendly and happy to help us get our boat out of the tight parking spot. After beaching and tying off in our chosen cove on our first day, we noticed that our pilot light on both the water heater and oven were not lit, so we had to change dinner plans and couldn't take hot showers or thoroughly clean dishes. On our second morning, we took our boat back to the docks to get our pilot lights lit and to run by the market where ice is $30 and a 12-pack is $32. Kelley lit our pilot lights and backed us out, where he noticed the loud, abrupt shutter in the drive train while moving at a consistent speed. We had been noticing this as well and asked what it was. He said he had no idea and it could be anything. We headed back out and made it to the I-5 bridge before a loud banging and grinding sound occurred and we were unable to move the boat in forward or reverse. We noticed the engine compartment taking in a lot of water and rushed to turn on the bilge pump and called the office (luckily it was between 8 am and 5 pm and we had service) as the side of the boat drifted into the rocks at the shore. Shauna and Michael came out and told us our engine had separated from the transom. They told us they didn't have any of the same boat to transfer us to but would upgrade us to the empress which had no slide but was bigger and had more beds. The new boat wasn't clean and had an empty whiteclaw can in the cupboard. Shauna and Michael were both aware the boat was not cleaned up to standards and helped to mop up a big spill on the top deck before we parted ways. The bathrooms reeked like sewage right off the bat and the boat was clearly not an upgrade. The window screens were so bent, that they let in bugs of all sizes when the windows were open, some windows were missing handles, the toilets and beds had not been cleaned. We spent the next day beached in our initial location. Shauna drove by looking for another boat and when we spoke to her briefly, we mentioned the horrible smell in the bathrooms. She assured us she would send someone out, and later, she came back herself with some "Happy Camper" a toilet deodorizer which improved the smell of the boat by a lot. The bilge on the new boat was pumping on and off automatically throughout the day, which we were later informed was not normal, and shouldn't be happening. On our last morning, we were stuck on the shore as the water levels had dropped a whole foot in the last day, and the struts were buried in mud, which we had to dig out before we were able to move. Upon arriving back to the docks, we checked out and received a minuscule compensation of less than $200 for all the time that had been wasted on the second day of our trip and for the necessary switch to an absolutely downgraded yet bigger boat that we certainly did not choose. We were very grateful for the friendly attitude of all those who helped us during our trip but were utterly shocked that management considered $183 to be a reasonable discount for two malfunctioning boats and all the time that wasted. They did not seem shocked at all and admitted that none of this should have happened. We will not be considering Holiday Harbor in the future.

Yelp
Awesome experience! Great customer service! Absolutely loved Sam and his attitude and energy when he checked us in! Aloha Sam! Best prices period. Everything ran perfectly and our 4 day trip ended way too soon. Already booking our next trip.

Raymond P. E.

Yelp
GREAT hospitality from Lisa at the RV campground and pretty much everyone working there. A very special thank you to my bruddah from the islands Sammy he took care of our needs regarding launching our boat due to the lake being so low. Only downside is lake is very low so water level from campsites is way down there and it was extremely hot during our stay but not much you can do about that. I would definitely stay there again

Monica M.

Yelp
Love this Harbor, been here twice now, and we have had a blast both times. Ok so they need to do some small upgrades on the boats, like a new sliding screen door would be great.. But you know the boats are not to new, so you can expect something to go wrong, but it's never major.. They are totally reasonable, and will meet your needs, or just plain make it right, because the customers always right !! love ya Holiday Harbor... and we'll see you again soon.. This pic was taken a couple of days after the Carr fire struck, so it's a little smoke hazy.. ;-( Thank goodness for our Fire Fighterszz they ROCK Aloha for now - Moni'

Miki S.

Yelp
What a nice crew of people working here. Great houseboats at decent prices on the best lake in California. Highly recommend!

S S.

Yelp
We've been annual customers of holiday harbor and their house boat rentals for years now. It gets the job done at a great price. Our family has created great memories here. However, there have been occasions where service was not up to standard. Such as the boat not being cleaned and ready right when we arrive, gas not full and ready for take off, septic tank not drained and smelling awful. This shows they do not care about their customers or their business name. Hopefully they can improve on their service.

Sherry W.

Yelp
The staff here were nice enough. The check in process could use big improvement. It's very disorganized. They yell out "who's ready for orientation?" And whoever is closest to them and ready, they orient them. No thought or consideration given to those waiting. Was told twice we would be next and kept getting passed over. Not acceptable. Orientation was ok. We were told the water heater was on and everything that should be on was on and working. Didn't notice til it was time to do dishes that the water heater didn't seem to work. Then it didn't work for the shower - that was ok because the temps were well into the 100's. On our last full day I finally called the harbor and told them the water heater wasn't working. They sent a friendly guy out who lit the pilot light -- it hadn't been done. Everything promised was available on the boat. It was clean except for the spider webs in a few corners with daddy long legs in residence but obviously worn and old. The air conditioner was absolutely useless, located in the middle but no clear ventilation into the areas that needed it. Only got cool right beneath it. This was our first houseboat adventure. My husband and I rented the Monarch for just the two of us. We decided $550 a day on a houseboat on a lake where it's difficult to find shade and no beaches to enjoy, where we had to cart food and other belongs down a steep hill in the hot sun and then back again, was more than we spend on resort vacations where we have drinks and food delivered poolside. We won't be renting a houseboat again for vacation. Nothing against Holiday Harbor, just not our thing. Wish the boat was more modern and had efficient a/c.

Sara S.

Yelp
Rented 2 different boats from HH. The two ladies who helped us were very friendly and knowledgeable...they were quick at processing the paperwork and payment. The process of parking, walking to the HH shed, waiting (if there is a line), selecting items, signing papers, getting the run down of how the boat operates, loading items on boat all takes about an hour so plan accordingly. I'm sure if you are a frequent visitor and know the drill it could be quicker but we were there the last week of summer and I'm sure some of it had to do with that. Overall great experience and would recommend and suggest to friends and family. The boats could use a little TLC and a bit better cleaning. There was trash left in the fishing boat we rented. There was a granola bar wrapper close by the captains chair and my husband drove and sat on melted chocolate chips that were in the seat. Good thing we were at the lake...

Yelp
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED Made a reservation for my kids birthday and had family up from LA. We got a call at 3 pm Saturday saying that a boat motor blew up and they didn't have boat for us. We got offered a patio boat when we reserved a ski boat. Got our money back but that doesn't help the fact that my kids feelings are hurt and she was extremely let down. We're beyond disappointed!! No discounts No IOU Nothing

Lua Y.

Yelp
Our kids and grandkids and other grandparents rented this for 3 nights. We just visited for a few hours. Wonderful time!! We thought it sounded like hell with the temp and low water, but it's really heavenly and so comfortable

Seth C.

Yelp
We booked a houseboat for a week and a ski-boat for a day from holiday harbor and it was the best vacation we had in years. Pros: - Customer service went above and beyond expectations - Assisted docking (if you are unsure of your skills) - Free grey water removal - Shuttle to and from your car - Prime location not too far from the center of the lake - Ski-boat was perfect for inner tubing shenanigans - Houseboat ran great and gave us the best sleep we had in years Cons: - Gas prices were not the best on the lake (bridge bay was cheaper, but not by much) Other thoughts: - Plan in advance, we planned 3 months ahead of arrival - Our group split up expenses to keep the price shock down - Gas was close to $6 mid July on the lake, so you want to factor that in to your budget - Be sure to buy supplies out in town such as food and drinks - Invite people who get along if you are planning on staying in a houseboat together - Look up safety and regulations (rangers/sheriffs are everywhere and take their job serious) - Bring beading such as blankets, sheets and pillow cases (pillows were on board)

Jo K.

Yelp
Seriously amazing people who work here. Is everybody this nice in Redding? Shout out to the two wonderful ladies at the front counter, sorry I'm bad with names. One of the nicest fishing boats I have ever rented on a lake for an incredible price, and wide open fishing.

Debbi D.

Yelp
We have rented from Holiday Harbor several times. Friendly staff. Especially our last trip when we got extra attention from Shawna and Kyle when we need a little help mid week. Danni at check in was great, too! We will be back!

Sarah G.

Yelp
This experience provided the best escape for our covid 19 quarantine club. Thank you to the HH staff. I was asking the maid some questions and she was very polite and knowledgeable and didn't seem to mind being bugged. The office staff and the dock staff all were very helpful. I had read the boats are old and dated and yes there aren't high end appliances and granite countertops but everything was working and clean, the grill outside was awesome, the beds comfortable (the guys did bring an extra blanket to lay down under a sheet). I would make sure you make sure your water and sewer tanks are empty before you leave (ask the dock support, flush the toilet). People need to do their homework - I google'd the crap out of this experience as it was our first time doing this. Also - we almost got stuck but put the heavy cooler to the back of the boat and all hands pushed our way out - so watch for water lowering overnight, stay away from muddy beaches and stick to the rocks! LOL totes rookie move. The boat (the Monarch) was the perfect size for 7 people. we were 2 couples and 3 singles. 3 people slept up on the roof just fine (as the top bunk is a little tight to sit up in) turns out they loved it up there so a single joined them (we did some research and bought air mattresses) and you're moving pretty slow so all that is needed to secure them is a backpack or a person!! You will need more than just a sheet for sleeping as all of us got cold in the wee hours and were glad we bought sweats for the morning however once the sun truly comes up it's all bathing suits and hats!! The kitchen was good for us - we bought one extra pan and in retrospect could have bought a non stick fryer for eggs and also a chopping board with a few more sharp knives for cheese etc., everything else was good to go, we didn't use the coffee maker we bought our chemex and thank god there was a toaster!! We bought a big pot of homemade spaghetti the first night (who wants to cook?) and meat and veggies to barbecue the rest. There is a burner on the grill so we did not cook in the kitchen at all those nights. Yes the fridge itself really doesn't get very cold so we put one of our blocks of ice in the bottom drawer and that helped. The freezer worked as a normal fridge so we put some things in there. There is a huge cooler on board so we used that for drinks and one of ours for the food. I was fearful that we would run into other boats but this lake is frigging huge and if you're willing to go another 10-15 minutes up any of the "arms" you will find nice secluded inlets. It's so relaxing. Swimming, jumping off the boat, lounging on floaties, eating good food - what a life! It was great OH and we saw an American Eagle twice soooo amazing... the lake is beautiful - all of us have def caught the Lake Shasta bug and booking through Holiday Harbor, will hopefully be back next year.

Patrick M.

Yelp
Holiday Harbor doesn't have the nicest houseboats on the lake but they price them accordingly. No other marina can you get 3 nights off season on a large boat for $1,325...other marinas are double that price, but their boats are also a lot nicer. Holiday Harbors fleet is really showing its age but they're cheap, clean enough, and work great. The staff is very friendly with great customer service. Sammy in the restaurant was great as well as the man who did the orientation down on the dock. We've rented from Holiday Harbor in the past and will continue to do so for the right trip (ie guys weekend) where you want a cheap and big houseboat but don't need it to be the nicest on the lake.

Yelp
Even when the water is low You still get the same excellent service from holiday harbor. This was our second year getting a house boat and ski boat and even thou we travel all over this is always my family favorite vacation.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful! Staff here is very friendly and made it a point to go through all the safety precaution before they cut you loose. The boat was clean and everything was working (at least we thought so). The one we got had a nice grill and a full tank of propane gas. It even had two restrooms and clean water in a sink. When it was time to return to the pier, our boat didn't start! We made a phone call to the guy that went through the safety instructions and 10 minutes later, he showed up and towed us back to shore! This is a perfect example of even though we had a problem how the staff handle the situation was exemplary.

Yelp
It was the best vacation we've had in years! Rented a house boat for 3 days! Very clean and was litterally stocked full of dishes , cookware, bbq... EVERYTHING!! Staff was amazing! Gonna try to do it again next year!! Thank you soooo much Holiday Harbor and everyone who works there!!

Yelp
Ahoy swabbies, We have rented Holiday Harbor for many years and have never been disappointed. All their people there are friendly and eager to help you in any way. The boats are always neat and clean as well as fueled and ready to go. Each boat is stocked with clean silverware, plates, mugs, and pots and frypans. There is also a good sized propane BBQ on deck. They have several size boats to choose from depending on your number of swabbies.

Yelp
We just finished 5 days on a houseboat in Shasta Lake. Our check in was quick and easy. Everyone was very helpful. Our boat was ready for us we just loaded our stuff on it and they were nice enough to take the boat out for us. We had been worried abort the smoke from all the fires, but it was ok. We had blue skies and even saw the stars at night. There is plenty of water, we had our boat and did some fishing. Returning the boat at the end of our trip was a snap. So much fun. Thanks Holiday Harbor, we had a great trip.

Yelp
This place used to be the best on the lake, but has really deteriorated in the last 10 years. I stopped in for gas and was told I was on the wrong side (although he admitted the sign was wrong). After going around to the other side, the dock hands were socializing and I wasn't offered any assistance. When I tied up (by myself) and went up to the window I felt as though I were interrupting, they were short to the extent of being rude. There are too many other places to patronize, I won't bother going here again.

Yelp
This review is in reference to our trailer camping experience. First off, let me say...the camp hosts are probably the nicest camp hosts that we've come into contact with. Reservations were easy, checkin was even easier! Lisa and her husband were very welcoming. The campground is cozy, but the camp sites are comfortably spaced. There is a short trail down to the dock where you can park your boat and offers a nice spot to hangout and jump off the dock. Every camper we met was very friendly. This is not a place to party. You won't hear much after 10pm. The showers are free. Water pressure was good and because the campground is small, there were no lines. Coin laundry. The lake itself is beautiful. We rented a boat for the day. Pricing is very reasonable compared to other lakes.

Yelp
I was ver impressed. We rented a houseboat for 3 nights and a jet ski for 1 day. Every staff person we interacted with was very nice and accomidating. The boat was in good shape for it's age. There was a shuttle to take you to and from the parking lot and dock. There were plenty of large 2 wheeled cars to move your stuff too and from the houseboats. They definitely have been taking notice of what customers need. A truly great experience.

Yelp
We have rented houseboats from Holiday Harbor for nearly 20 years and highly recommend them. The houseboats are in great condition, the Ambassadors now have slides ~ way too much fun for kids of all ages!! The staff is extremely friendly, feels like coming home every year, and knowledgeable and the few times in all those years that we have had mechanical problems, they were always right there to fix or replace whatever was the issue. No matter where we were they found us and even fixed our own speed boat that needed a new started, alternator and battery! We tried a competitor one year but never again ~ always going home to Holiday Harbor!!

Yelp
Loved our stay in the houseboat my grandson was turning 16 and this was our safest choice for our family to celebrate him.

Yelp
A group of friends and I have been going to Lake Shasta for a few years now and each time we have used Holiday Harbor for our houseboat rental. Here are the pro's and con's that I can come up with: Pro's: - Location, it's right off Highway 5 so its quick access. It's also at a sweet location on the lake, near a few good arms on the lake. - Good selection of houseboats, from inexpensive to expensive. - Decent off season prices ( March 13 - June 18 and August 21 - November 15) - Friendly staff Con's: - The harbor itself is not the greatest. Depending on the water level, it can be a hell of a hike while loading or unloading your vehicle/boat. - Boat cleanliness -- The past couple years our houseboat (Empress) had some serious bathroom problems. They seemingly do a half ass job of flushing the tanks so there can be a very foul stench from the toilets. Ours was so bad a couple of us nearly threw up while trying to take care of business. Overall, Holiday Harbor has been good enough to us, so we continue to use them for our annual trip.

Yelp
Friendly, outgoing and great customer service. The Boats are the same as anywhere else but the people who works here are what really make the difference on why you should rent here Vs elsewhere

Yelp
Terrible experience this year. We rent a Patio Boat along with jet skis or a ski boat every year or couple of years from Holiday Harbor. This year we had a horrible experience. After attempting to ski on the Ski Nautique boat 1 time the battery died. At that point we tied it up to the patio boat to take it back into the Harbor but when we called they said if we stayed where we were they would send someone out. So we spent 3 hours waiting for a repair person to switch out the battery. After that we used the boat for about an hour and a half. We asked for compensation for a miserable day. We spent the day in sitting in one place. The boat was a $425 day rental and they allowed a $134 return for the worst day of boat rental ever. I think we will take our business elsewhere next year.

Yelp
Well they kinda saved the day ....kinda. I got a hotel and jet ski at bridge bay. Showed up they lost jet ski reservations. So made a call HH had a jet ski available. So I took it when I showed up I seen the quality of jet ski it was and was not real impressed but wanted to make the best of it. So left. Only made it about 10 min away. (Wasn't that far it only did 31mph). And the warning light went off pull into a cove. Swam for a bit Got back on took it back 2 hrs early told them what happened. The lady at the toy box made a call to her boss he came down it was almost out of oil He gave me half off my half day rental I guess it's better then. Nothing but still kinda a shitty deal.

Yelp
I have been renting houseboats from holiday harbor for over 20 years. They offer a great product. For a reasonable price. The staff has been wonderful. And, any problems are addressed very professionally.....I would be on a boat right now if it wasn't for the covid-19 problem. Support these people once this is over.

Yelp
We had the best time when we rented a boat for the day from their Toy Box. They supplied everything we needed to have a safe, fun day on Shasta Lake.

Yelp
In May i reserved a patio boat [with bathroom plus propane grill]. On monday morning june 22 i called them to say we would be late. They told me my reservation and credit card was charged for $300 for saturday june 20. They said someone should have called me as they had my number. They had NO boats available monday.i had daughters from out of town and we had put lots of planning into all day patioboat....drinks..grilling...water toys etc. The lady on phone said she was off previous 3 days so knew nothing about me.[was this comment to help me?] I am still waiting for refund. Yelp
We hired a houseboat through Holiday Harbor. We had a wonderful experience with the booking staff, the staff at the docks and the check in staff. They are very friendly and a pleasure to deal with! Our weekend on Shasta Lake started off wonderfully. We were checked in by Randall who was lovely. We had a wonderful time on Friday and Saturday. It was everything we were hoping for. Then our weekend went downhill on Sunday. Our boat lost power so we called in, as instructed on check in by Randall. We were told to make our way towards the dock area and someone would meet us en-route. No one met us en-route. After reaching the entrance to the dock, STILL no one came. We called again and were told that someone would be right along. We waited for about 30 minutes and STILL no one came. We called again and then were told to park in the area near the gas pumps and wait, someone would be on their way. We waited a while and then eventually someone came to fix the boat (very nice mechanic who was very apologetic). After about 30 minutes we were on our way again. As we got out onto the lake the problem started again. We kept losing power. We called in again and after waiting about 45 minutes the same mechanic came to fix the boat. He worked on the boat for close to an hour (while we bobbed around the lake getting motion sick) and then he got the boat started again. No longer was the mechanic out of sight and the boat lost power AGAIN. We called in YET AGAIN and were told that as we no had no power we would have to be towed in. We waited and waited and waited. Eventually we tried the boat again and managed to get it started but could only travel at a very low speed or it cut out. We eventually made our way back to the dock as no one came to tow us and we got sick (literally... Motion sick) of sitting around waiting. Our father's day we had planned for my Dad who was visiting from South Africa and my husband, was ruined. (I have not spent a father's day with my father in over 18 years so planned this special 3 day weekend!) Our weekend was cut short, and not by choice or our own doing! When I explained all of this at check out, the lady asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said sure! I explained everything to the manager on duty and he said "The best I can do is offer you half off your gas bill" which was $65 dollars off! REALLY? We paid $431 per day, had our weekend cut short, not by choice, and the best he could do is $65 off! And to add salt to injury, he acted like he was doing us a HUGE FAVOR b giving me $65 off! Get Real! It ruined our day and a lovely weekend! $1293 is a lot of money to pay for a weekend that we did not get to fully enjoy. As I mentioned, the staff (other than the manager - on the phone at the docks) were all really lovely to deal with (except they ignore your email complaints) and the first two days were lovely so for that reason I did not want to put a bad review on yelp, BUT they have not yet (weeks alter) responded to my email asking for compensation for a weekend cut short through badly serviced boats and through no fault of our own. To anyone wanting to book - If anything goes wrong you will not be compensated so don't expect it! They are lovely until something goes wrong, so be warned! To the Staff at Holiday Harbor - Give good service and customers may tell one or two people! Give Bad service, Customers will tell anyone that will stand still long enough to listen! Good Service costs nothing! You GAIN MORE by it! Try it sometime!

Yelp
Houseboat and staff are wonderful. My only complain is the poor cleanup. Picked up the Ambassador on 6/3 afternoon and found out that gray water was not draining properly after first shower that evening and gray water were coming up in the bathroom sinks. Thought it was a clogged drain so we left it as is and it finally drained the next day. Problem occurred again on the evening of next day after shower and there was standing pool of water in shower. That is when I realized that the gray water tank may be full. Dock was closed at the time so can't come in to have gray water tank emptied until Saturday morning. Came in Saturday morning and wait for about 30 mins for my turn. Employee hooked up the gray water pump and told me that gray water tank was full because it took him awhile for it to drain completely. I did asked the employee if the gray water tank was emptied before taking it out the first day and I was told "yes" but they don't have a check list that the task was actually performed after the previous party returned the boat. If you parked far away like I did, you'll burn a good amount of gas coming in to have the gray water tank emptied. So for those that rent a houseboat, make sure that the person that give you the orientation note on checklist that gray water tank is emptied and have him/her sign to confirm. Otherwise, you can't shower, brush teeth, wash dishes and enjoy your trip.
