Yelp
My husband, boys (3, 7) and I stayed here for 2 nights during our dinosaur themed road trip. Vernal seems to be known for being located around many places to stop for dinosaur lovers. This was one of the few places that was recommended to me by a staff member from another hotel where we wanted to stay but couldn't get a room.
Pros :
- It had a laundry room which worked out after being on the road for a few days and still had a few days before heading home. $2 to use the washer, $2 to use the dryer, 75 cents for the detergent, 75 cents for the dryer sheets (2). Takes quarters only.
- located down the main street so it was easy to get to anything we needed (Walmart, theater, restaurants as well as other dinosaur stops that were only as much as 30 minutes away)
- breakfast available and served by a staff member. There were many items to choose from (biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, cereal, juices, pastries, fruit, yogurt and more).
- beds and bathroom were standard and whats expected for a Holiday Inn
Not so Pro:
- the hotel had a bit of a bug problem. They had a small posting at the entrance stating this was the case and that it was being worked on. The bugs were said not to be harmful but just the thought was a bit unsettling and I didn't want to take any chances. We found them only on the inside and outside of the window itself and no where else. I went through and wiped down the whole room and bathroom (beds included) with Lysol wipes and spray as well as sprayed the window with Lysol spray. The spray killed the bugs and must've set a protective barrier because after that, there wasn't much of an issue on the inside of the window for the rest of our stay. Not sure why this couldn't have been done prior to us arriving into the room. ???
- the woman at the front desk seemed to be overwhelmed at check in. I tried to joke with her which made her laugh but had I not done that I don't think it would have been a good transaction. She was also bothered each time we had to ask for quarters or needed help with the washer and dryer (the detergent/dryer sheet dispenser wasn't working). She did help us but seemed to be frustrated as she seemed to be working on other things. I get it, there is always something to get done but there are times where the customer can't find the solution without help of the business and I don't think we need to be made to feel that we are a nuisance for asking for assistance.
