Holiday Inn Express Sandton - Woodmead by IHG

The hotel is perfect if you need a clean, comfortable place to stay that is centrally located. The service is excellent, they organized housekeeping to clean my room earlier so I could check early. They made me tea while I waiting in the comfortable lounge. The rooms are more orientated towards business travelers which is great. A proper desk chair and a decent tv. The best part was both soft and firm pillows which is why hotels like these are a great choice. Breakfast was really good and the only negative is the coffee was not great - though it never is at buffer breakfasts. (I am a coffee snob) Highly recommend for safety, convenience and service

The hotel is located inside a corporate complex so you feel extra safe since there is a private security guard outpost to enter. I have to commend the tall, well dressed security guard from the hotel who is always down at the main entrance… he is super professional and makes you feel like he is doing a great job. Unfortunately I cannot say the same of the front desk team… upon arrival there were 3 ladies attending 2 customers and about 3 more clients on cue… zero acknowledgment of us or a brief greeting saying “soon we’ll be with you”. I stayed over for two nights, the morning of my second night I approached the front desk girl and request an extra key for my room… she starts explaining how the other key will be immediately obsolete once she configures a new one (apparently no copies can be made) so she handles over to me 2 new room keys, at the end as I’m about to leave I say to her “why would you give anyone a room key without verifying their identity first!” She was speechless of course. Breakfast experience was not nice, a bunch of guests decided that it was a good idea to come down for breakfast without shoes.. absolutely disgusting! One of the restaurant employees tried to ask them kindly to wear shoes and she was “corrected” by the front desk team stating “it was ok”. Coffee machine was not working the first morning, no one seemed to care about it, the floors all dirty with bits of cereal and juices. Total shame on this department. Upon departure I asked at the front desk if a luggage scale could be borrowed, the lady (who seem to be in charge at the moment) stated that unfortunately due to brand standards… they are not allowed to keep one in hand. Absolutely ridiculous, I’ve been front desk manager of 5 stars hotel and this to me was simply someone not being able to hold accountability for an amenity that could come in handy to all customers and doesn’t necessarily need to be kept on sight. What bothered me is not that they didn’t have one but more, the excuse she stated. I can commend the good job on the housekeeping staff, they were always cordial on the hallways and the room cleaning was spot on. Parking facilities are very practical and easy to access too.

The stay was peaceful and relaxing with 0% level of noise. The staff members are Friendly , service was great, Breakfast was enjoyable with variety of dishes. Overall rating is value for your money.

Beds are double and does not fit American size people. The AC does not cool the room. The plug at the bed is different and my adapter for my bipap could not be used at all! The breakfast is $13.50 American so I passed! I can get a family meal at chicken lickin for 8$. The facility is ok but nothing exceptional. I’m limited walk with stairs and the elevator takes you to small set of stairs that I had a hard time time with. I expected a lot more here

So 1st time in South Africa, but not the 1st time staying at an IHG hotel or an Holiday Inn Hotel. Apparently I am not allowed to wear my night dress when I come down for breakfast. This is a decent dress, if it never says sleep, no one would know it’s a night dress. Hotel in the middle of no where really, old and basic - from the amenities to the food.

Staff is so good and helpful. I went there with my tourist group and they let us store our baggages for 3 days free of charge when we travel to other places. It was a great help and nice gesture. And as a location it is in the safe district of the city. Thank you so much!

My friend and I had such an amazing experience at this hotel. The hospitality was top tier. We really felt at home and welcomed. I really enjoyed the breakfast times because of a lady called Pinky. What a caring and sweet soul. Angel from the reception stood out as well. She was very calm and assisted us promptly each time we needed assistance. What a amazing place to be away from home.
