Holiday Inn Express Sault Ste Marie by IHG

Absolutely AMAZING, Best Hotel I have ever experienced. Clean, sterile rooms, Delicious daily breakfast. Incredible Customer Service the staff are Outstanding. Mary- Food Area Kenneth-Food Area Chris Hines- Night Staff These staff all deserve praise, they are Absolutely Amazing, Friendly and extremely attentive. Way to go!!! I will always book here and so should everyone reading my review. :)

We were travelling from Winnipeg to Toronto and stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Express Sault Ste Marie by IHG to rest before continuing our journey the next day. It was a pleasant stay, and the staff were very courteous. Before checking out, we enjoyed breakfast, which was excellent. Mary was especially kind, professional, and attentive, she checked in regularly with guests throughout breakfast and made the experience even better.

Stopped here during a work trip. Compared to other HIE's the building is a bit outdated on the outside, but the interior has been renovated and the rooms were partially updated. There is limited parking with a small lot in front and the hotel is next to an event center. There was a hockey game the night of my stay. It didn't interfere with my experience; although the hotel had staff verifying guests only parked in the lot. There is an add on parking fee which is the first I've experience at HIE in the US or Canada. It was six dollars Canadian plus tax. I was a bit put off by this as the parking is already limited and should just be included with the hotel rate. If the hotel was full, I don't think there would be adequate parking. The drop off lane could only accommodate one vehicle and guests had to go up about 5 stairs to enter the lobby. There is a narrow ramp for accessibility. I didn't see a USB charging port near the beds, but always bring my own. Everything was clean and comfortable; staff was courteous and attentive. There was some noise from other guests; most likely hockey fans; but nothing that kept me from enjoying a good night's sleep.

Overall good stay. Room was clean and comfy. Nothing much to report. The area is quite empty though, so dont expect the most stuff nearby. Theres a mall across the street thats more or less closing down. If theres something happening there is the chl arena next door which I did take in a game of the SOO greyhounds vs Erie otters. Beyond that its kinda a empty area. Breakfast is fairly basic, usually a form of eggs, one meat type, toast. Juice, fresh fruit etc... I like to go for the pancake machine.

Travelling for business in Sault Ste.Marie and as an IHG member I stay mostly at Holiday inn Express locations. This one seems to be a much older building that may have been a regular Holiday Inn before. The building is older but it has been renovated nicely inside and outside even if not the same exact level of the brand new builds it's fine. Parking is the hardest hurdle since the front parking lot is pretty small and pretty tight for anything bigger than a 1/2 ton truck but the side lot is better suited for larger vehicles. The whole lot is smallish for the hotel but still manageable. The $6/night parking fee I find is a little too much when offering such a small parking lot but I've also seen places that charge $20/night. The Staff that I interacted with was nice so nothing bad to say there. Location is pretty nice all things considered with a view on the bridges to the USA from the top floor. There is also a view on more industrial parts but it's not bad.

We stayed one night on a road trip. It was great having the sauna and hot tub. Location is good close to the shopping centre allowing for a stretch out of the cold. Room was clean and staff friendly. Breakfast with lots of choices.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2025. I left my glasses in the room. The hotel confirmed that they found them on September 12th. We provided a credit card number to have them returned at our expense. We have called 4 more times since. We get sent to the supervisors email and nothing gets done. Still waiting. I would rate customer service at 0 but the lowest is an undeserved 1. Send me my glasses.

Get this! I had booked this hotel for 2 wks from now by mistake; and Dave and Jasmine at rhe front desk were considerate and understanding ... Made it as least embarrassing and comfortable as possible, and we were from out of town. Thank you so much!

We arrived fairly late, sadly, as we were given a lovely suite with a kitchenette, dining table, living room with fireplace, whirlpool tub and K bed. I would have liked more time to enjoy the space. That, and the room running warm a couple of times during the night are the closest thing I have to a complaint. The bed was comfortable, plenty of outlets & lights. There was a separate shower and tub, a large window facing the bridge. Staff were welcoming & friendly on both arrival and departure. We booked direct, using an annual comp night as Platinum Rewards Members. The only charge was a CAD $6 parking fee.

Washer and dryer both broken. Washer goes to slow spin cycle and keeps resetting itself. Spin cycle so slow clothes remain soaking wet. Really needed to get laundry done. Disappointed.

Not bad it's a holiday inn in a small town it wasn't bad was definitely odd getting here because I was driving from California and we don't understand the metric system to well but anyway hotel was nice and it was good stay.

Service is top notch!! Noah has amazing customer service care and makes all guests feel like they are VIP. We loved chatting with him and getting to know him, when we pass by. Even though our car was broken into, (parked at our own risk) the security guard was very concerned and took down the information about the incident. The thief didn't take too much...stupid stuff, like iPhone cables, American nickels and dimes (not the quarters), sunglasses, et. Al. But didn't touch the GPS or the solar powered USB charger. Room service was very good. Our room was cleaned very well, every day. Which is nice after a long day of sightseeing, eating, hiking, and spending money! Would stay at this hotel in the future.

I arrived late at night after a long day of work and after no success of finding a hotel with room on the US side of the river. The front desk attendant was very welcoming (even though it was the middle of the night) and was even able to give me a decent room upgrade. The room was small, but very well done, really clean, and seemed like it had been recently upgraded. Wifi worked well and breakfast, while very standard HI Express, was well done. Overall a great experience and worth the trip across the border.

I am basing this off of the service alone. Never got to stay because I cancelled due to the service. I booked my hotel on a Wednesday and was going to be staying Saturday night. I actually booked 2 rooms. After booking I called to see how the process with the pool is with the current restrictions in place. They told me that you cannot book a time slot until the day of. I called again on Friday to see about early check in possibility as well as double checked on the pool booking. Was told I couldn't be guaranteed an early check in right now because the room is occupied (which is fine). I then asked again about the pool booking and was told the same thing that I had to call back on Saturday. So Saturday morning I called at 7am and was told that the pool was completely booked all day Saturday already and I could book a time Sunday if I wanted. I explained to the person that I was told differently earlier and the girl said she doesn't know if this rule/procedure. I stated that I only booked the rooms to use the pool. She said sorry I won't be able to use the pool. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me there is no manager on weekends available. I asked what if there is an emergency then what happens. She told me they aren't aloud to call their manager and can only text them and then they will get back if they get a chance or if they think it's worth it. She then told me that she knows how they are and there is no way they will do anything for me. I ended up canceling and going to another local hotel.

This Hotel is fairly pricey. It is nice, the room I had (King bed) was clean and comfortable, but not very soundproof. Staff was friendly and helpful until I had a comment about their environmental practices. The location is good, very close to a few good restaurants. The included breakfast is decent with hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausage) and the usual cold foods (cereal, yogourt, etc.). The coffee is hot and fresh. My only complaint is that all the dishes, cups, and cutlery is one time use only - plastic cutlery which is thin and flimsy and not even real cups for the coffee! In the rooms,the drinking glasses are flimsy plastic and the coffee cups are paper. There is a green bin in the room but it is lined with a plastic garbage bag and has no instructions as to what can be recycled. This not only cheapens the whole feel of the place but is not respectful of the environment, which the hotel claims to care about by not wanting to wash your sheets and towels daily (who even does that anyways?). When I asked the staff about this I was dismissed and told "this is the first time a guest has commented on this".
