This hotel is easy to get to and conveniently located. We saw it listed on the CT Science Center website as having a package deal, but the reservations folks didn't seem familiar with the program. Staff were friendly and helpful for the most part (the one exception was watching the cook declare he was taking last order at 7:50pm when they closed the restaurant at 8pm and refusing orders that came in 5 minutes later. On a Saturday?!). We did do the breakfast buffet the next day and that was good. The food and bar area seemed a little understaffed both times. Overall, our room wasn't quite as clean as it could be. We also arrived to find the clock was unplugged, one of the two bulbs in the entry light fixture was out, no place to hang the hand towel in the bathroom, only two sets of towels (for 4 of us...but was able to grab more at front desk) and the complimentary shampoo was the smallest one I've ever seen. The smaller than usual flat-screen, lack of any USB charging ports and the not quite comfortable double beds (instead of Queen) added to the feeling of the place needing an update. Previous comments about the pool area seem to still be the same, the whole room was dripping with condensation and various pipes looked in need of repair. A tiny dehumidifier near the mechanical room (designed for a room 1/50th that size) had a hose sending its output right back onto the concrete. The pool itself seemed ok and my kids were happy to use it. For the price being charged, this was definitely a disappointment.

We were a little concerned about other recent very negative reviews but since we were staying here as part of a block of rooms for a wedding, we didn't have much choice. All of our issues on our stay really came down to poor management. Restaurant and bar hours do not match what they advertise both online and on physical signage in the lobby. 2/3 of the items on the menu were not actually available to order. We had also requested and confirmed twice that our rooms would be adjoining with other family members so that we could help out with taking care of our baby grandson, but upon check-in, the front desk staff didn't care about what had previously been confirmed and put us across the hallway instead and put other people in each of the adjoining rooms to our two rooms. And they were rude and unconcerned about our needs. Apparently our issues were minor though compared to the complaints we heard from other guests in line at the front desk. If this place was actually run correctly, it would have much better reviews. Our room was spacious and comfortable and adequately clean but it certainly wasn't what I've come to expect in this day and age of sanitizing rooms like most good hotels do now. The floors could definitely use better vacuuming and the bathroom could be cleaner, but it thankfully wasn't in the poor state other recent reviews described. Overall, a serious shake up in management with retraining of staff with rigorous oversight would totally put this place as a great option for staying in the area.

The food is always great here, especially after a long day of travel. Bed is always comfortable. I've stayed at this hotel many times and do find the bathroom is a little less clean than others, including random hairs on floor or shower. USB and USB-C chargers would be great

We checked in for a 3 nights, 4 days stay. Our view was of the rooftop. No, it was not a beautiful view. The bathroom tiles look funny, like their was water on the floor, but there wasn't. The sink is usually low. For reference, I am 5ft 6in. On our 3rd day there, we came back to the room, and the beds were not made, even though nothing was left on them to hinder the staff from making the bed. It's important to note that most hotels, when guests stay more than 2 days, will change the sheets when they make the beds. The bathroom was cleaned, but they only left hand and bath towels, no face towels. We informed the staff of this, and they gave me the number and email of the manager. I emailed the manager, and to date, I have not received a response. Dining Room When we checked in, we were informed of the dining room hours. There were even signs posted. In the evening, it closed at 10pm. We were in town for a funeral. One night, we went to a candlelight vigil, and we came back with the intention of getting food in the dining room. We got their at 9 pm. We saw someone at the bar and she said, as a matter of fact, the kitchen closed and we closed the dining room at 9 pm because no one was here. It shouldn't be the case. People are traveling and may arrive back a bit late. Also, there was not anything around us. We would need to take an Uber because we didn't have a car. I'm so disappointed with the stay here.

I hadn’t read any reviews previous to staying here, and reading all the ones that just preceded mine, I’m glad I didn’t.|We stayed one night, after a long day of traveling. Loved the location, quite near to downtown and super easy access to the freeways. We arrived about 7 PM and upon checking in, were told that both the bar and the restaurant were, unfortunately, closed. Bummer, but the girl on the desk gave us a great restaurant tip (Sorella) so no biggie. We did smell weed in the elevator, but it IS legal in this state—I'd have been surprised not to. Exiting the elevator on the seventh floor, we found one hallway blocked off, with a sign announcing it's renovation. Our room was standard, clean, and had a super comfy bed. Oh, yeah, the coffee, both in the room and the lobby, left MUCH to be desired. In short, it seems like they have turned a corner, as they have much to offer. I plan to stay there again when I return in two weeks, if I can get the same rate.|Oh, And the shampoo was minuscule.

Google
It is very dated and definitely needs some help. We decided to stop swimming in the pool due to the deteriorating roof of the pool room falling into the water and floor of the pool being busted up. The gym was sub-par and didn't lock. We also found a random sock in our room, which might suggest a need for deeper cleaning services. The beds were 100% hard as a rock tho 😞 The service here was amazing tho! All 3 of the women that I dealt with at the desk were amazing! Very helpful and knowledgeable! The location in proximity to the Xfinity Theater is great! Overall a good place to crash for a couple hours after a show before the drive back home! (As long as you like a stiff sleep)

i had an early check-in at 7:30am and i was able to get into my room before my conference meeting started. at the meeting, we had a nice breakfast buffet, and a great luncheon, i didn't eat at the hotel that evening. on the next morning i was greeted to an outstanding breakfast buffet. my room was very clean, the food was excellent, and the staff and the facility were all great

This hotel was very dirty. The bathroom/shower was full of mold. When we got to the room there was left over food from the previous guest still in the mini fridge. Hair on the bed. Room was very dark and not well lit. Luckily was only in the room for a very short time (2 nights) but I would not stay here again. Hotel staff was friendly but also well aware of the issues with cleanliness. I would not recommend someone to say here and feel that the corporate offices need to get involved with this property as the condition is terrible.

Yelp
Unsafe area! My car was broken into along with 13 other vehicles in the hotels parking lot during the early hours of the morning. Over $800 of personal property stolen from the 1 bag I left in my car. All of the cars targeted were out of state, newer, and expensive vehicles. I just got my Jeep 3 months ago! They were attempting to steal rims as well. According to the police, the hotels security cameras are so poor quality that they were no help in the investigation. Don't stay here unless you want your windows busted out! In regards to the hotel itself, I only stayed one night and had no issues with the cleanliness of my room. Staff was also very efficient and friendly.

Yelp
My company uses this hotel for trainings every year. The place has just gone downhill over the past 5 years. We use the pool for training and its freezing cold and dirty. The breakfast is $15 and not included with the room. The breakfast is powdered eggs and microwave bacon. Basically, what you'd get for free in a continental breakfast at almost any other hotel. This year the room I stayed in had a huge stain from "something" on the tiles in front of the toilet. The room just felt like it wasn't clean. Luckily, I keep a sleeping bag in my truck. The hallways smell like weed all the time and you have to sign a paper saying that the hotel is smoke free. right. The staff seem to be hiding and are never around. They just dont try at all at this place. It's a shame because it is a great location.

Kay R.

Yelp
The only good things about this hotel is that it is relatively close to downtown, and the room had a refrigerator and microwave. But it was DIRTY! The room smelled, and the bathroom has clearly not been full cleaned. The floor had not seen a mop in quite a while, and the room had a weird smell. Everyone at the front desk was nice, but hotel was sub-par.

Yelp
So disappointed in my stay here. I had booked Fri-Sun though capital one travel. Last minute I had to add Thurs night, so I called the hotel directly and booked one night though them and asked if we could just stay in the same room all weekend. All was fine. Upon arrival, I find missing lightbulbs, lights that just don't work, missing batteries in the remote, trash all under the beds, and dozens of bugs. I speak to the front desk the next morning and they agree to partially refund the Thurs night stay, but tell me that I need to contact capital one to get any type of refund for the rest of my stay. They made it sound like they understood why I was upset but it was a technical issue on capital one's part and that I would be able to take up with them later. I am alone with my daughter, have nowhere else to stay, so we decide to stay the rest of the weekend if they send housekeeping up. We leave for the day, when we return the room is exactly as we left it, but with fresh towels. When I get home, I call capital one to get my partial refund for the rest of my stay, which the front desk told me to do. They tell me that they can't issue me a refund, that only the hotel can and because I didn't make a complaint on my "second" reservation, they would not refund me for it at all. It feels very much like they just wanted to get me out of their hair. For the price I paid, I would not expect to be picking up trash and killing bugs. I couldn't even stop to take pictures of all of the bugs because I had to kill them as soon as I saw them before they got away into the curtains/bedding/ect. Very disappointing especially for what they charge.

Yelp
Hotel wasn't the worst at all. But there were some cons. The room wasn't cleaned fully, some spots were unkept, (vacuuming wise), main light in room didn't work, & lots of activity on our floor. Many kids running back & forth in the hallways and smelled like weed throughout my stay. Causing the fire alarm to go off at 1:00 in the morning. No staff available or in charge during this moment to explain what was happening even though I knew it had to be from the kids on our floor. Bed was comfortable, & location is right off the highway to get to all the main attractions. Despite all of that, this wasn't the worst hotel I've been to but it needs to be ran properly by the right management. Take guest complaints (like mine & others) seriously so the fire alarm doesn't go off while people are there to get some rest.

Yelp
This hotel is very bad and very dirty, the staff from front desk not help and very rude 0 stars don't come here never , I prefer to sleep in street and not here

AJ J.

Yelp
My initial room was dirty. The toilet had stains in it and the floor had gray spots everywhere. The wallpaper in my room was coming off. The hallway walls and ceiling has seen better days. The tv took forever to turn on and the cable service was spotty and kept losing signal. This place was a hot mess.

Gregory A.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars I would. I booked through HotelPlanner.com. They are also horrible and just as guilty as the Holiday Inn as far as I'm concerned. I booked the King Suite for two nights. It was supposed to be there best of the best room. We had arrived around 8 PM in the middle of the week. When we first arrived- the lobby was clean and up to date. When we entered the room it was quite the opposite- the first thing we noticed was a urine stain on the bed comforter; The walls, ceiling, sofas, and floor was heavily stained; There looked to be a two foot vomit stain in the middle of the carpet; The chandelier had six candelabras, and three were burnt out; There was a dining table with chairs repaired with packing tape; The furniture was all heavily worn; The coffee table was about to collapse because one of the legs was hanging on by a thread; There was a cigar burn right under the coffee table; There was gum, candy, and wrappers stuck to the floor under the couch that was obviously visible; There was 4" inches of dirty water accumulated in the shower because the tub wouldn't drain correctly. You would expect better from a hotel you could rent by the hour. It couldn't be any more gross. I quickly called the front desk and the receptionist said there was no manager on duty until the morning. I urged her to have him/her call me ASAP, but they never did. I told the receptionist there is no possible way we would be staying there another night and to cancel our stay for the following weekday night. We almost slept in the car that night, but luckily we had brought our own pillows and blankets. After calling the receptionist I quickly contacted HotelPlanner.com. They told me to fill out a form and send pictures, which I then did. We then searched for another hotel for the following night. First thing in the morning we checked out, and I found "the manager" before we left. We explained all our complaints, showed him photographs and videos we took, and he assured us that we wouldn't be charged. After several days I called back because we were never refunded. They told us they do not allow refunds for cancellations, no shows, or early check-outs. Not only did they charge us for the first night we were forced to sleep in the urine stained bed- they charged us for the second night that we didn't even stay there. They also charged us the $50 incidental fee to add insult to injury. Since then we have spent hours calling the Holiday Inn and the IHG corporate office. We were obviously upset, but maintained our composure; yet all they did was hang-up on us claiming we had gotten disconnected at least a dozen times. In the end neither HotelPlanner.com, the Holiday Inn, nor the corporate office for Holiday Inn (IHG) ever reimbursed us for the $350 for the night we were forced to sleep in the urine stained bed, nor the $350 night we didn't even stay there, nor the $50 incidental fee we were charged for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. IHG owns a total of 19 hotel brands / names / chains. I would rather sleep on a park bench than ever give them another red cent of my money. I highly recommend looking up what hotels IHG own and avoid them at all costs. Truthfully a horrible experience!

Scott M.

Yelp
I would warn travelers to stay away from this hotel. IHG should investigate this property because it is a drag on their reputation. 1) No customer service. You were basically ignored at check in. 2) No restaurant/bar and no place close to go. You had to Uber into to town or Uber eats your food out. 3) Rooms were old with frayed and soiled walls and furniture. 4) Hallways smelled of smoke and mildew. 5) TV in room didn't work. 6) Soda machines all empty. 7) Didn't get the feeling it was worth reporting it to the front desk. 8) Bed and bathroom were clean. 9) Not worth the "city rates" they were charging.

Angela B.

Yelp
Very friendly gal at the front desk. Convenient location. Comfy beds and pillows but not a very clean hotel. Unless you want food poisoning, I wouldn't advise eating at their restaurant. My dish, had mold. Pretty disgusting. Average hotel. Not worth the price they charge.

Diana P.

Yelp
Not bad for a quick hotel stay. The first room we had was clean and fresh. However, the second room was not as clean and smelled a bit mildews. The pillows were nice and the beds were comfy. The toiletries had a pleasant fragrance. If you want complete silence, ask for a room at the end of the hall with less traffic walking past. Plenty of free parking. Hotel is located right by the expressway. Because of COVID restrictions, our room was not cleaned daily including no new towels. You have to ask for your room to be serviced or "turned down". Overall a decent hotel for the price

Gerry D.

Yelp
If I had the choice, I'd have to pick another hotel to stay in. I honestly don't like leaving bad reviews but just a disclaimer that this was my experience with this hotel ok? I had gotten booked here for work and the moment I got my room, it smelled like someone had been smoking in my doorway. I quickly turned the fan on cool to try and possibly make the room odor disappear but it just made the room colder AND smell not good. Since it was kinda freezing outside, I decided to just grin and bear it since it's just a place I'll be sleeping in only. As the week went on, I noticed my room had the thinnest of walls since I can hear apparently parties and neighbors in other rooms pretty clearly. My last night (Saturday) they had some kind of club going on directly below my room and I couldn't really get sleep. That sucled cuz I had an early flight to catch and needed to wake up at 4a. Anyway, to give any positive reviews, they were very close to my work and downtown. So convenient location.. just won't come back. Thx East CT.. It's been real!

Daryl P.

Yelp
This review was only for the venue for a career fair. Came here for a career fair a couple months ago prepared to walk out with information and hopefully some job prospects. There were many people there that were also in that mindset and the Inn kind of left them to their own devices. I get it, I guess. As people continued to crowd the lobby, there was much in the ways of directing and assisting people that were here for the fair and without much signs and postage, people just followed the crowd. The conference rooms were in the back of the lobby with the Holiday Inn hosting multiple events at once. There was this grumpy old man that was a part of another event that I mistaken for the table to check into for the fair, oh my was I informed after. I guess karma is a payback because as the fair began people formed a line in front of the man's registration table which I can only imagine made him uncomfortable. Inside the venue space, I was informed that there will be many companies but I saw less than a dozen cramped into the space and with so many people all talking at once, it got loud and hot very quickly. By the time I had walked out, I along with many people were sweating. There is not much in the area for a visitor staying for the night to do, you'll have to go to Hartford or Manchester or stay for a drink indoor in the Holiday Inn's bar.

Yelp
This has got to be the worst hotel I e ever stayed in. After a 15 hour travel day the restaurant wasn't open for lunch, the staff said it will be open for dinner. After taking care of business we came up for, we returned tired hungry and thirsty. We didn't have a car so we thought hit the hotel restaurant and crash. They closed the restaurant because no staff showed up for work. After getting some sleep , my wife wanted coffee. The room Kuric machine was broken , called the front desk . They didn't respond. We asked if the staff showed up for breakfast! No response. They don't pick up the phone. The bathroom sink could make hot water because the know was broken. This place is an absolute Shit Hole! The place smelled rooms were dirty, and the front staff could not be bothered. Oh I almost forgot ... the restaurant wasn't open for breakfast as advertised. Do not stay here and if a company books you at this hotel move. Absolutely a disgusting place.

Que S.

Yelp
Nasty with a capital N describes this disgusting place. DO NOT STAY HERE, unless you want to smell a strong odor of mildew mixed with fruity chemicals mixed with smoke and pee, and if you like about 20-30 cockroaches that come out of all the nooks and crannies once you turn off the lights creepy crawling this is the place for you. Oh, and if you want to experience poor customer service be their guest...like seriously the girl at check in had her ear phones in and was having a full on personal convo and didnt acknowledge or say one word to any of the guests waiting...

Linda M.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with my stay here with my family. I picked the hotel for location of the events we were attending over the weekend in which they advertise free shuttles but there were none. The first night our heat didn't work. It took a whole day for someone to come out to fix it. We were excited to go in the pool but the pool area was freezing and the pool temp was not comfortable at all. The description of the room said microwave but there was none. I also wanted to check out early because my flight change but they wouldn't accommodate. I left a message for the manager to call me back but with no surprise the manager never called me back.

Melissa B.

Yelp
This is a last resort hotel. My car, as well as a few others were broken into last night. No attempt by the hotel to help us or make it right. This has been one of many break ins amongst the hotels in East Hartford DONT STAY HERE! The police are aware of the situation as it is an ongoing occurrence.

C M.

Yelp
This is quite possibly the worst Holiday Inn we've ever stayed at. The moment we exited our vehicle we were overcome by the smell of marijuana. It didn't get any better when we got inside either. We stayed 3 nights, and nothing changed. I would NEVER bring children here, too much seediness. In addition, we requested towels (they were not cleaning rooms unless you requested due to COVID), and we realized they gave us bath mats. In addition, the coffee provided in the room was horrible, and we were given one regular, and two decaf. One good thing was that the 8th floor (top floor) was quiet.

Edward C.

Yelp
I planned to stay at the Hampton Inn across the street and I realized I made the reservation on the wrong day. Unfortunately, they were booked that day so they sent me here. This hotel smelled so bad. My room had a jiz stain on wall. Mold on bathtub. And the sink wasn't screwed in properly. I gagged when I brushed my teeth. The list can go on and on but I'll stop there. I was happy it was just for one night and was happy to leave. My clothes smelled funny when I left from the stench marinating on them over night. I asked for another room and it still was nasty. When I get home I am going to get checked out by the dermatologist.

Will S.

Yelp
The front desk agent was polite and probably the best part of my experience here. I didn't spend a lot of time in my room as I went out to explore the town. When I was already to wind down for bed, I noticed red spots on the carpet. My shower curtain also smelled like urine. I'm glad I only booked for 1 night. Will never stay there again.

Rob B.

Yelp
Terrible place. The rooms look like they haven't been updated since Jimmy Carter was president. The room I stayed in was filthy. I checked in late at night and went right to bed but when I woke up in the morning, I noticed the carpet looked like it was never vacuumed, the walls had fluid stains on them, the bathroom counter had 2x4 propped under it to hold it up and a dirty hole in the wall under it, the shower curtain wasn't big enough to cover the shower opening and last but not least the bathroom floor looked like it was mopped with muddy water. What a Sh*&hole this place is. Dont stay here without following up with your doctor. They charge top dollar for low end rooms. There are better nearby for that price.

E H.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that the staff was attentive and kind. Probably the easiest checkin and checkout I have ever had. If I was rating on staff I would give it five stars. My low rating was for the condition of our room. The cable wire and plate that goes into the wall was hanging out so we saw a hole. We were on the 8th floor and the ceiling was leaking small amounts of water. The wall paper was bubbling most likely from water damage. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING as if you are right there. The best part of the room was the water gets super hot.

Mike J.

Yelp
Do not get the bad bad reviews that are written. But all is entitled to their opinions. This is a decent Hotel. Not a five star. But worth the bucks they charge. My room is spacious and very clean. Never like when my room is attached to another unless I requested it. But it's fine. The food in the lounge was tasty. I mean for Holiday Inn food it was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I actually called them for several things within the area and I never got an attitude from any of the staff. The shower was strong and that is a plus for me. Hate weak water when I shower. Lol Checking in and out was easy and fast. So for me it was a great experience and I would definitely stay here again.

Jay D.

Yelp
Checked in late on a Thursday night, the room was fine for the price and area. Not in town for long and left the room by 1pm Friday asking the front desk person if they could send someone to clean and restock towels etc, to which they said yeah. Had to run back quickly to the room around 4 to do some things SEEING MY ROOM LEFT AS IS so when heading back out at 5 I asked again if someone would be up to do what I was told would be done when I was out before. Was advised that there is no house keeping staff left at that time so won't be able to clean?! Terrible experience knowing that regular cleaning/restocking isn't normal here but lying about getting it done is.. Will never stay again! The front desk did not offer any assistance either besides for apologize. And I will admit it was different people the second time but it's still one hotel and an apology doesn't exactly address the issue at hand.

Akeyla S.

Yelp
I needed to find a hotel very last minute late last night. I was able to get a pretty decent deal from Priceline on this inn. I am a fan of this hotel because of how clean it is and how nice the staff was. The parking was free and though they do not take responsibility for any damages that happen to your car, my car was safe and I felt comfortable leaving it overnight. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms seemed modern. I only spent $66 for the night so I believe I got a bargain! There is breakfast offered but it costs extra. The only negative things I can say is that the cleaning staff started knocking on doors around 9:30AM and because I was sleeping at the time it was an unpleasant way to wake up and when I returned to my room around 2AM, the elevators reeked of a certain substance. Overall my experience was nice and if I were to get another deal like the one I got yesterday, I would surely stay again.

Enxhi B.

Yelp
I don't know why this hotel has so many bad reviews but when I stayed here with my family we had a pleasant experience. The room was very clean and the service was also good. It was close to everything and satisfied all of our needs.

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Absolute worst hotel experience ever. The website clearly states that they are pet friendly so I booked 2 nights. I just lost my dog last week in a tragic accident and all I have left is my cat. My animals are/were both well behaved and have stayed in many hotels/motels. They even lived in a few for jobs. I bring my little buddy in and the nasty woman at the front desk without one ounce of hospitality in her bones barks at me "no cats!" I posted a screen shot of their website and there are no restrictions mentioned. She reminded me why I hated Hartford. And the room looked nice enough but yeah, it's just a bandaid. The place was trying to be something nice when it is just a sh%¥ hole with a fresh cost of paint. Thanks for making me so upset that I was in tears because I could not leave my only surviving pet to sleep in a moving truck after losing his sister. Key didn't work and they were gonna send up someone. Never happened, we had to go back down. Absolutely appalling customer service. Stay away unless you want to be treated like dirt! We paid for 2 nights and my family stayed 1 night and I drove to another hotel that would accept my perfectly well behaved cat. If I could give 0 stars or negative stars, I would!

Yelp
My car got badly vandalized (damage to the windows, trim, and paint) along with 6 other cars on Thanksgiving Day. I talked with the manager and was informed that this was the second time this has happened in the past 2 weeks. I asked why I was not informed about about this and was told that it wasn't something that needed to be disclosed. Disappointed. Would not go back.

Yelp
The only reason I gave two stars is the room was clean and everything worked. One day desk girl was rude, the breakfast help was rude, breakfast buffet was overpriced for the quality/selection, the buffet food that should be hot, wasn't. I'm sure management knows exactly who their rude employees are but do nothing about it. Didn't use the gym or the pool so I cannot comment on them.

Yelp
I stayed here for a few days while in town on business. This being my first trip into Hartford, I enjoyed that the hotel was within walking distance to the city and there were plenty of walking and running paths close by. There wasn't much else to write home about besides that. Walking in the hotel might seem nice at first. The outside and lobby have a nice modern design, but as you walk through the halls you get the impression that they are behind on updating everything else. The rooms itself aren't terrible besides the feeling that the whole hotel is kind of dirty. The bathrooms have been partially updated in a feeble attempt to look more modern, but the half hearted attempt to update them is not appealing. There is no free breakfast. There weren't any noticeable differences between the expensive breakfast here and any other hotel's free breakfast. Would definitely recommend finding somewhere else for food in the morning if you stay here. At one point I tried watching a video on my laptop. The internet is so bad here that about every 5 seconds the video would pause to buffer for a few seconds. I resorted to listening to some talk radio and even that was coming in choppy! Overall, I'm going to try and avoid this place. The trip I took to Hartford was spur of the moment and most hotels in the area were booked up already. I can see why this place is used as a last resort and I will be doing the same.

Yelp
Small pool that lets kids not staying in the hotel play, room 411 has a known leak from the room above. Staff says it happens every time the people above use the shower. I could only imagine the lack of repair in the rest of the rooms. The wifi sucks. Kept getting kicked off my mobile games. Could not watch videos due to long buffers constantly

Yelp
Gives a very urban vibe (not in a good way). Reminds me a lot of when I traveled to third world countries as a child. (Security guard in lobby) Front desk attendant was working with two parties when we arrived seemed frazzled. Didn't take down my ID information or even verify my ID which I thought was weird. While getting on the elevator there was water everywhere from delinquents not drying off. Mind you, I checked in at 11 or so and the pool was still engrossed. Neighbor to our room had his TV 40 decibels too loud (torture enough he was watching CNN) None the less room was clean but bed was hard. Amid leaving the following morning a Range Rover had been broken into (driver side window bashed out) and multiple police present not a good look... If I ever encounter this dreadfully awful city again I will stay elsewhere.

Yelp
My stay started with a non-smoking room that smelled like smoke and the tv not working. With potentially being dinged $250 if they blamed me for smoking, I got a new room. New Room was clean, somewhat updated so no real issues. This is not an upscale hotel brand so I am not sure what people expect with all the negative reviews. It was clean and updated in most areas. One elevator was not working but there are 2 others. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Had dinner in the bar. Friendly staff, hamburger was good. It would be great if they offered a free breakfast like many comparable places. Workout facility has a few weights and workout machine overlooking the pool. Pool area and workout faculty was clean and machines newer. Towels provided. It's a Holiday Inn. The property what was I expected. HI is not always my first option but I would stay again.

Yelp
Do not stay at this location! When checking in, the desk mentioned that if there was a need, to simply make a request. In four nights, a request arose each day for towels to be picked up and dropped off. They were never met. Three requests for housekeeping to pick up trash. They never did. Informed the desk that the hardwired smoke detector was hanging from the wall by the wires. It took three days to get someone to the room to reattach it to its mount. Individual sleeping on the lobby couch . Rotary door looked to have been disabled for sometime without repair. Even during COVID-19 there is some expectation!

Yelp
I stayed here for three nights earlier this week whenever I was in town on business. I arrived to the holiday inn at around 10 PM on a Sunday. My experience didn't start off too well as the automatic rotating door decided to stop as I was entering the hotel. While I waited for it to keep moving the lady behind the desk yelled at me to push it and so I did. Other than that checkin was a breeze and I was headed up to my room within a few minutes of arriving. Whenever I got to my room my first thought was that it was dated. I was also surprised to feel how cold it was and went over and found the temperature set at 60 and the fan on high. What kind of housekeeper leaves that on like that? My particular room had a flat screen TV, two double beds and a refrigerator. The beds were comfortable enough and it was nice to have a selection of both soft and firm pillows. So why the two stars you ask? Well the first thing that I didn't really like was that the walls were pretty thin. Why this is a problem at hotels always baffles me. Then my second problem was with my first day that I was there where I left my room at 7 AM and came back at 5 PM to find that my room hadn't been touched. I did leave again at 6 PM and came home at 8 PM to find that my bed had been made but that the trash hadn't been emptied and the bathroom still hadn't been touched. It did get cleaned the second day that I was there but I never did get any new toiletries which I would have expected seeing how I had the almost empty bottles in the shower. So the housekeeping for the whole trip was definitely underwhelming. Then the last item I wanted to mention didn't happen to me but to a co worker instead. The first night that we were there a, well let's call her a "a lady of the night" tried to get into his room although he clearly didn't call her. This isn't necessarily the fault of the hotel but still warranted mentioning. The bottom line for me is that I wouldn't stay at this holiday inn again. As a matter of a fact I am headed up to Hartford for business again next week and this is what I had booked but I plan on changing that. There are signs everywhere in this hotel that this holiday inn strives for 10 out of 10s on their surveys. I find that comical because at best I would rate this hotel maybe a 4 out of 10.

Yelp
Stayed here on a business trip for 2 weeks. This morning I went to my car and to my surprise I found it on bricks because all four tires had been stolen overnight IN THE HOTEL PARKING LOT. My car was parked directly in front of the hotel within eyesight of the hotel lobby. After speaking to the staff and getting the run around, I was told that it was not their problem and to tell my insurance. I am so disgusted by the way that this situation was handled. How are people supposed to feel safe and secure when things like this can happen to your car and all they have to say its oh well tell your insurance.

Yelp
The worst hotel outside of a third world country that I've had the displeasure of visiting. Run-down hotel lobby and a receptionist biting into an egg roll that dribbled down her chin as she attempted to locate our reservation. "Sorry," she slurped, as she shoved minced cabbage stuck on her cheek into her mouth, "I'm starving and I didn't eat all day and y'all are my last check in!" Awesome. The room was even worse than the check in. Stained carpet and a single brown hair on the toilet seat. So gross. Dirty shower. Really good water pressure though! Priceline needs to re-think placing this hotel in the 3-stars category for bidding. It's atrocious. Don't stay here.

Yelp
I saw the other reviews(low) and I don't quite understand them. It is a Holiday Inn and I saw nothing below standard. Clean rooms and well appointed. Nothing dated and or worn. So I would give an 'A' rating for the room. The restaurant actually better than expected (B rating) for this type of hotel. Steak was prepared exactly as ordered, tender, and tasted great. No need for A1 to liven it up. That's how I judge a good piece of meat. If you need to drown in sauce it is a bad one. I had the mussels for an appetizer and they were great. Okay, now the bad. While my server was nice it seems like the bar was not taking care of the restaurant and so I was about 1/2 way through dinner before I got mine. The bar had a moderate occupancy and patrons seemed happy. I would have no problem staying and eating here again.

Yelp
Happy Veterans Day - November 11, 2013 We booked a room and paid in full for the room at the Holiday Inn Hartford, East, Hartford, CT, as we are longtime members, and we felt that our active duty 19 year old military daughter, was traveling alone, on her way to her next duty station in Maine. She has been traveling from Santa Rosa, California, making stops along the way, at Holiday Inns, to include the night before she was turned away at the Holiday Inn Hartford East, CT location because she was 19 years old. We understand your policy, but would like to see several things happen. 1. Clearly mark that the age to check into your hotel be displayed so we would have avoided this unfortunate incident. 2. Possibly adopt an exception to their policy for active military who are under 21, if they're headed to their duty stations. Shamica, the front desk representative was less than helpful, she hung up on my husband in midsentence. The Manager, Denise Devillez refused to call us back after we asked to please speak with us. I simply wanted to speak with her and try to work out some way to get my daughter checked in. It was night time, and we wanted to simply speak with her, but Shamica, did take time to call us and tell us that Denise Devillez would NOT be calling us back. We then called the corporate number, where the lady on the phone went on to say, that my 19 year older being active military was irrelevant, that she wasn't old enough to go into a bar and drink, she couldn't check into a hotel, her being able to drink in a bar and checking into a hotel room are completely different. She further went on to say that they couldn't responsible if something happened to her upon check in. So, if you're 21, you relinquish all rights to keep you safe? So does that mean, that I can check in and if something happens to me, no one is responsible? Not to mention if they wouldn't let her check into the hotel, (a paying customer) because she was 19 and SOMETHING did happen to her, this would have ended much worse. We chose Holiday as part of a family relationship we have had with the chain for many years, but when we needed help the most, no one would even call us back. No one would listen to our pleas for help, and money was not an issue, we would have secured her check in regardless of the cost.

Yelp
Pretty much an unadorned shit-hole. The breakfast buffet costs $14, but I would pay at most $2 for that food. My shower looked like it had been the epicenter of a pube hurricane. My bed had little pellets (from bugs?). Aside from the gross top cover that never gets washed, the bed sheets were quite thin. I had an incident where I managed to get my car keys stuck in the chandelier in the front lobby. (I'm a complete idiot, I know.) The front desk lady basically said, "I'm not getting paid nearly enough to care about your stupid problems." If I hadn't taken care of the problem myself, I probably would have been there for hours waiting for someone else to give a shit.

Yelp
I was psyched when I got this hotel for $50 a night on Priceline. But as I write this at 2AM in the shabby bathroom I am no longer jubilant. The cops are next door throwing out the drug crazed idiot. My kids are scared and the I will probably payout 100's in therapy bills because of this. The hotel is really run down. We stayed here when it was the Sheraton and it was great. Only 2 years later, and this place has nose dived into below average. The front desk is understaffed. The pool area is icky. There were no towels in the pool area and they brought some. 2 towels and 2 bath mats for the 4 of us. The room is relatively clean but I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Really lousy.

L S.

Yelp
The staff are nice and service is pretty good. Carpets old but rooms aren't bad. The real reason for the two stars is the walls between rooms: they're incredibly thin and you can hear everything being discussed word for word next door with unbelievable clarity. Lost a lot of sleep from kids next door who wouldn't behave.

Yelp
My family & I were in town for the weekend (March 23rd-24th) and decided to stay here as we've been here before & it was close to where were heading. We arrived late in the afternoon and decided to take a nap. While trying to doze off, our neighbors to the left (we were in room 800 where the stairs are to the right) were talking loudly, but we paid it no mind. Later that night (around 1 a.m.), some of my family members came over to have a bite and chat for a bit. When my brother went to the ice machine at the end of the hall, we was accosted by the security guard asking if he was with us and that we were making too much noise. We thought he was joking when he got back to the room, but a few minutes later we got a call from the front desk saying that we're being too loud. About 5 minutes later, the same security guard banged on our door and said that we have 10 minutes to vacate the premise or the police would come escort us out. This isn't the first time that we've been targeted at this hotel, but no one paid it any mind until this unnecessary incident occurred. I'm sure the color of our skin played a part in to why we were harassed, but rest assured that neither myself or anyone else in my family will EVER spend money at this location or any others in this chain. I posted my review on Expedia (where I booked the rooms), but it just so happened that my review got deleted. There's no hiding the fact that minorities (in my case) are watched under a microscope at this hotel!

Yelp
This place is basically a joke. Please, save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere. There's a lovely Hampton Inn down the road. When I checked in the staff was very busy looking over a Target coupon flyer thingy and barely made themselves available to me. okay fine. The elevator to the far left was being fixed or something so there was a not in service sign, however, the elevator was still on so every time you called for the elevator the broken one came. Then you had to lean in, press a button to get it to go away and call an elevator over again. Obviously, not the end of the world but still an annoyance over the two night stay. When I finally made it to my floor (the fifth floor) there was a room service tray with tons of food and plates, etc sitting on the table right outside the elevator. Let it be known that tray was there the entire time I was at the hotel. The entire time with that gross food on it. unacceptable. My first room was not clean and the toilet had a little poop in it. I tried to flush it down but the toilet wasn't flushing (which is how I imagine the poop got stuck there). So, I trekked back downstairs and told them so. They gave me another room and mumbled a lackluster apology. I'm sorry, was I not clear, there was poop in the toilet of this hotel room I just checked into. Can I get some sincerity on your part, please? Finally, in another room (still on the fifth floor with the food tray) and I am able to relax. This room is cleaner but in reality the whole place is just run down. It looks rundown on the outside because it is rundown on the inside. I imagine it was nice at one time and then no one made the effort to keep it up to date. It's sad that the owners stopped caring. The ventilation in the bathroom is questionable. Even with the door open and lukewarm water the condensation would last the entire day so that the next time you would shower old, gross water would drip down on you from the ceiling. There was also some weird spots all over the bathroom floor. The sink counter was starting to pull away from itself resulting in large gaps that were mostly sticky molding. We asked for caffeinated coffee as there was only decaf in our room and they didn't have any available. At the time of our stay (March 24-26) they were doing construction on many different parts of the hotel. However, they would start working very loudly with hammers around eight am till ten am but were silent much of the rest of the day. I can't imagine why they couldn't shift that back two hours and save us all some trouble. On the day we checked out there was something going on in the parking lot that was shutting most of it down. If I was going this far out of my way to inconvenience my customers I'd be offering some really nice stuff or at least a smile. Still, no one was happy to be working there. Fair enough, we weren't happy to be there.

Yelp
If I could give them 0 stars I would. This was hands down the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. First of all let me start off with check in. I didn't get the front desk girls name because she was literally on her phone the whole time. Like while checking us in ... lmao. Oh I'm sorry to disturb your personal phone call AT WORK while you're on the clock and literally the only person at the front desk. She straight up had her earbuds in the whole time. Didn't talk to us once. I don't think that's asking for much. That's what your break is for .... God forbid you gotta show up to work and ACTUALLY WORK. We checked in on Oct 16th 2021 in the evening I wanna say after 5:30pm. So whoever was the girl with the red braids working the front desk.... She needs like the bare minimum customer service training. I'm not even saying you gotta go above and beyond or anything but at the very least not have a full on personal phone conversation while checking in customers. Smh. But you know what I was willing to overlook it whatever just get me a clean room. We get to the room ( room 500). The room smells like mildew. The bathroom smelled so strong of mildew it gave me a headache if I was in there for more than two minutes. It was so strong. Oh and there was a dead cockroach. Nice. But hey at least it was dead ! Ok y'all I'm not picky I'm really willing to overlook a lot of things. My friend and I were only staying for a night so honestly yea the smell sucked but we were barely gonna be in the room and the smell was primarily in the bathroom , so again not picky and willing to overlook a lot of things. Big mistake. We get back to the room and get ready for bed. Something tells me to put on my flashlight in the dark. Trust your instincts y'all. I look down and there are roaches everywhere .......... Not one or two or three or four. More like 20..... on the floor , on the cabinets. I literally got up and closed all my luggage so that the roaches wouldn't get inside my bags. I should've stayed at a motel 6 , it would have been cleaner than this. The room was literally infested. We only needed the room for a night so there was no point in getting another hotel. We got ready early and just waited at the airport. I couldn't wait to get out of here. And y'all have the audacity to charge around 130 a night ...... if it was 10$ a night then ok you get what you pay for. But at 130$ a night you would expect for there to be no roaches. It was so bad. IHG and Holiday Inn should be embarrassed. I've stayed at other Holiday Inns and never had a problem. So it's gotta be the management of this one y'all straight up don't care and should be embarrassed to work here. I felt dirty after staying here and once I got home I took a shower ASAP. The ONLY redeeming factor was the girl that checked us out on Oct 17th at around 5am (I told y'all we got outta there ASAP). She was nice and I felt bad because I just wanted to get outta there asap so I didn't really say much to her. I cannot say this enough this was THE DIRTIEST NASTIEST HOTEL IVE EVER STAY AT. And for the price ........ y'all really need to get it together. If anyone in the corporate office reads this y'all need to go to room 500 at night turn the lights off and shine a flashlight on the floor and you will see I am not exaggerating...... also the bed was uncomfortable af lmao. Jesus. This was exhausting to write but needed to be said. Even if no one at Holiday Inn responds to this ( I won't hold my breath ) hopefully at least people thinking of staying here will read this and KEEP IT MOVING. TRUST ME. YOU'RE WELCOME. I wish I could go back in time and read this review and save myself from staying at this DUMP y'all wanna charge so much for smh. I'm done.

Yelp
Walls are paper thin, I literally overheard every single conversation in the room next to me....every single CONVERSATION! Not to mention the WiFi is extremely slow

Jeff D.

Yelp
There was very little about this hotel that was good. That said, here they are: (1) Free Wi-Fi and (2) the bed was very comfortable and clean. But Anthony Melchiorre would have definitely deemed this a "Hotel Impossible". First of all, the entire place was dingy, old, and run down. I could have been ok with that, but here are a list of the things that made it tough to enjoy: 1. Front desk staff wasn't RUDE, but they also weren't very friendly, and they weren't able to explain the procedure for having my business pay for the hotel room--instead they just charged my credit card. 2. The lounge food was absolutely disgusting, even for hotel food. And every patron looked like a drunken meth-head. I'm not trying to be extreme; I just literally used to work in addictions and literally they all looked like meth users. 3. There were so many things that didn't work at all or properly in the room, including the TV, the shower drain, the hot/cold water, and the bathroom fan. The toilet seat was broken and there were stains on the floor, and the shower leaked so I came out of the shower unto a wet floor. I was supposed to be at the Hilton, but all preferred hotels were booked, which is why I had to stay at this treasure. Won't be doing that again.

Yelp
Decent hotel. Free parking with a gym, fitness center & business center. Within walking distance to several downtown eats.
