We stayed at the Holiday Inn Rosebank in Johannesburg for 3 nights during our visit to South Africa. Here’s my honest and detailed review, covering both the pros and cons.
Location:
The hotel is in a very accessible area. It’s directly connected to the Rosebank Zone and the mall, which offers plenty of shopping options and a wide variety of restaurants. If you’re visiting for tourism, this location is ideal — most pickup points, including the City Sightseeing bus and safari tours, are right in front of the hotel.
Room:
The room was spacious — definitely more so than other Holiday Inns I’ve stayed at in different countries. The staff were kind enough to give us a room with a roadside view, which we appreciated.
Bathroom:
The bathroom was well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. However, one strange design choice stood out, there’s a glass door directly in front of the toilet seat. This means if someone is using the toilet, it’s visible from the room — quite unexpected and a bit uncomfortable. It would be much better if the glass was tinted or had an opaque film to ensure privacy.
Water Bottles:
A minor but recurring inconvenience was the drinking water. The hotel provides two complimentary bottles each day, but they’re only around 300ml each — not nearly enough. We often had to call the front desk to request more, which, while always accommodated, felt a bit awkward after a point. The hotel staff did deliver bottles whenever we requested it’s just that It would be more convenient if they provided larger bottles.
Breakfast:
The breakfast was great. They had all the essentials — breads, croissants, a live egg station, and a buffet spread that was more than enough to fuel us for the day. Everything was well-prepared and fresh.
Staff:
The hotel staff were kind, helpful, and consistently cooperative. They never refused any of our requests and were always ready to assist. It’s clear they genuinely want guests to have a comfortable and pleasant stay.
Irrespective of few minor issues I mentioned, I do recommend tourists coming to Holiday Inn Rosebank for their stay. It’s a very convenient option.
