Overall the hotel exceeds my expectations. Our room includes a bunk bed for our kids, which was a plus. Room was spacious and clean. Ocean view was awesome. Pool was heated so we were able to hang out there after a day’s activities in town or in Acadia National Park. We could tell the resort was still going through renovations, the smell of new paint and dust was lingering. But construction was not bothering guests in any way. The gym might not have been reworked yet. It smelled bad in there so we decided not to use it. A bus stop and laundry room on site were both very convenient.

After making my reservation I reached out and asked for an upgrade which we eventually given due to our elite status. When using the free night awards it is difficult to select certain rooms - so not really a huge upgrade actually. We booked a queen premium with a view and gave up view for the King suite w/ bunks (no view!). It was not a suite - it was a normal room w/ the couch removed and a set of bunks installed. Cute idea for kids but in no way a suite! Again we used a fna which was 40K and I added another 46k in points for the 86k need to book on points. WAY overpriced but that is Bar Harbor in July. The point redemption was in par w/ point value - so there is that. |The room was a disappointment as the balcony is not usable - you have to open a window to climb out and no chairs. Again, this is not a suite and they should just call it a premium room if they want to charge extra for the bunks. |The hotel is newly renovated - nicely redone furniture and bathroom and carpet felt clean and was cushiony to walk on. HOWEVER, the AC was NOT updated and it was horribly noisy! We had to keep fan on low or our heads rattled! lol Most the year this is likely not an issue but our stay was quite hot in high 80s and we needed it! |Other issues was no Wifi - we couldn't get logged in either days and TV is difficult to find a guide to pick channel - a lot of surfing to find a suitable show but not there for TV and wifi - but at this price point ($550 cash price room) should all work smoothly.|The property is lovely and has a large waterfront - with paths and a small beach area when tide is out - fun to explore! There is no garbage cans or very few which is odd - even at lobby entry? |The staff is pleasant - but don't expect a nice Maine accent - these are almost all foreign workers on work program and most have Jamaican accent! lol |There are two elevators - one seemed to work intermittently, and they were both slow. |As mentioned we are Platinum elite and were offered welcome drink voucher (or points) - we used them at the pool bar. This poor guy is way too busy - he services the pool area and the lobster restaurant - we went a little before dinner and left as they wait was long - not sure how one would even get a snack there - I image the wait would lengthy. We went back after dinner and it was less crowded - but then he was busy w/ dinner guests at lobster shack. They most definitely need two workers there full time. |I liked the water stations in lobby and on floors near ice machines. Great to fill up water bottles. |There is coffee, tea and hot chocolate (free - I am assuming) along w/ snacks to purchase off the lobby - that wasn't communicated to us but we figured it out. Giffords ice cream for sale too!! |The free island explorer trolley bus stops here so that is really helpful. There are sidewalks so you could walk to town too I suppose. |I would look for other options if coming again...

I just recently started reviewing places we’ve been to that I forgot to in the past. We stayed here in October of 2023. We stayed at this hotel on our trip through all of the New England states the night before visiting Acadia National Park. We took our trip at the end of October and we’re glad to have this hotel so close to the park. We ended up arriving at night after it was already dark out so we did not get to see much that night. We were really hungry and we ate at the fancy restaurant that was inside the hotel. Our servers were really nice and we enjoyed our meals. You could tell that the windows we were seated near probably had a great view of the ocean. We thought that our room was perfect for two adults and two kids. We got changed into our swimming attire and wanted to check out the pool and hot tub. We knew that the pool outside would probably be pretty cold since it was pretty cool out the night we were here. Yes, they had a hot tub out back, but it was jammed packed full of adults and we just did not feel like crowding in. The pool was even colder than we thought it would be and every time you got out of the water you could really tell. The walk from the pool back to the hotel was far enough that we were freezing, but it was October so it was expected. As usual, on vacation I was up before everybody else before the sun had even risen. I walked down to the pier behind the hotel and I kept hearing this splashing sound in the water, but could not see anything because it was dark out still. We ended up going down to breakfast, which was one of the best breakfast spreads of any hotel we have ever been to. By looking out the same windows I had mentioned before, we could see something out in the water moving, but it was too far to tell what it was. So after breakfast, I asked if they wanted to walk down to the water to go check it out. When we got down near the water, we realized that there was a little tiny island in the middle of the water, and those things we saw moving were seals. SEALS! Never in my life I just so lost for words. Which means those things I was hearing before the sun came up splashing around was probably also the same seals. The kids wanted to play around down the water for a little bit. My son ended up collecting some seashells and a hollow crab show which he thought was really cool. We did end up only staying one night, but we would definitely stay again if we were in the area. We were trying to squeeze seven states in in just 17 days so we had to stay on track and keep moving. We are part of the Holiday Inn Club Vacations and honestly said we could see this eventually turning into one of the resorts if they keep upgrading and adding more family oriented activities. We booked this place on a whim without knowing anything about it but we were so glad we did. We would definitely recommend this place.

Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff were friendly, responsive, and very helpful in assisting us with merging our separate reservations. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable, and the overall environment felt relaxing. Some reviews mentioned renovation noise — in our case, it was only noticeable during the daytime and wasn’t too loud, so it didn’t affect our stay. The location is also excellent. A few minor pieces of feedback: after housekeeping, soap wasn’t replenished (we had lost ours after bringing it to the beach), and the plastic bag for the ice bucket wasn’t replaced. We also checked out the game room, which looked promising at first, but turned out to have limited activities and was geared more toward younger children — I had hoped it would be a pleasant surprise.

We could not have asked for a better experience at this hotel! We received a warm welcome from Barbara on arrival, and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. ||Our room and all public spaces have been newly renovated and were impeccably clean. There was even a “hydration station” with a bottle filler on our floor, near the elevator. ||Enjoyed drinks in the bar with John Boy, and the wood-fired pizza from the restaurant was delicious. ||The pool area was very neat and clean at all times during the day. ||The Acadia shuttle stops right in the parking lot, and it’s a relatively short ride to the transfer station in Bar Harbor, so fighting traffic/finding parking was never an issue, whether wandering Bar Harbor or heading to any location in the Park. ||We absolutely recommend this hotel!

We had a lovely time at this newly remodeled resort. We enjoyed the ocean view from our room and the pool. Property was close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Staff was friendly and accommodating asking often how our stay was going and soliciting ways they could improve. Landscaping adds to the beauty of the setting. Three dinning options on site. Complimentary laundry was a welcomed surprise.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Bar Harbor. The renovations have really improved this property & they did not interfere with our stay. The view is amazing. Rooms are well planned out with plenty of cabinets. It is a great place!

Google
This apparently used to be a Regency that is now a Holiday Inn. They didn’t even have a clear sign up, we nearly missed it. They are under renovation during our time here. You can tell it will look nice, but it’s in-progress… They did not even provide free coffee in the lobby for the first two days of our stay (we stayed 5 nights). Towards the middle and end of our trip the started putting out a coffee carafe. Lots of tradesmen/construction workers with trucks taking up parking, lots of random tools/equipment laying around in unfinished spaces including guest areas… At the time of our stay, they only had the main restaurant (we did not eat here) and the pool bar available for food. The dock restaurant and stone cottage building were closed. Someone was smoking weed on our floor…I complained and they did send someone up to air freshen the hallway but it was disgusting for like at least two nights. I shouldn’t have had to report that as the stench was obvious. I wish they had enforced that better and kicked that guest out for violating policy. I forgot my razor and the front desk kindly provided me one. Staff were nice. Pool is heated and excellent, the hot tub was nice. Walkable or a short drive to Bar Harbor, convenient location.

Yelp
There are several reviews that inaccurately portray this resort. The staff at this Holiday Inn is as friendly as they come and are always checking in to make sure you are having a great experience. My wife and I came here for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and the GM had a bottle of wine and truffles waiting in our room for us. We spent a week here and loved everything about it. There are two restaurants on site, they have tennis courts and pickle ball courts available. It's centrally located to everything in Bar Harbor and was one of our favorite places that we've stayed. It's right on the water and are currently renovating the entire hotel, we can wait to come back and see it when it's done. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
Horrible staff, horrible dirty room, rude manager. Wouldn't allow us to switch to a cleaner room unless we "paid for an upgrade". I've stayed in some not so great hotels but this took the cake. I've never stayed in a dirtier room before. No clue what was on the bed, chicken feathers behind the tv. Spiders, insects, dust and dirt. Toothpaste still on the sink, nothing was cleaned before we arrived. NEVER AGAIN. We slept in our clothes and bolted at first light!

Yelp
Ok so let's get something straight bc all the reviews I'm seeing are for the regency harbor hotel which you can use all the amenities but are completely separate from the holiday inn. The holiday inn has its own entrance however you do check in at the regency bc they're owned by the same. Holiday inn is at one end. Then you have a parking lot and then you have the regency. So to use the pool, the restaurants, or any other amenities you will have to walk over there because there's none of that available at the holiday inn. It's basically just the rooms. But I will say the room was magnificent. The bed was comfortable. The staff were super friendly. And you can walk thru the back of the parking lot into the backyard of the regency and take a stroll through the walkways by the ocean. I just wanted to clarify that bc all these pictures I'm seeing are not of the holiday inn. Also please note that the hotel is a bit far from town. You will need to drive to town. It's about 35min walk, and I'd say a 5-7 drive but then parking is a struggle and not to mention parking is $4.35 per hour with the app. This is of today 8/3/24.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start!! From the minute we checked in we experienced rude, uncaring and unprofessional staff. The ONLY reason this place gets 1 star is the view. It's quite beautiful. Oh and the bus. The bus will take you at various times during the day to town and pick you up to return to the "resort". The room was fairly quiet. Very old and out dated. The restaurant we experienced the same. Rude disrespectful service and sub-par food the was horribly overpriced! We decided to come to Maine for a bucket-list 63rd birthday trip. If you are planning to go, bass this by. A huge disappointment!!

Yelp
This was my first time staying in a Holiday Inn Resort and I had a good time. I found it to be a comfortable experience, and had great service. This property is still recognizably a Holiday Inn, but it has some special features! The Bar Harbor lodging market is pricy, so I was pleased to find a familiar brand at a very competitive price. The facility has ocean views and amazing features like a heated pool and a very popular hot tub. The landscaping was really pretty, and I enjoyed looking at the northern ferns, hostas, and flowering plants. The ocean view room had a small private balcony which overlooks the grounds as well as the ocean. The service was great, with the front desk staff being super helpful in helping us find dining as well as things to do. They were even able to provide us a discount on a boat tour. We regularly ate breakfast in the on-site restaurant, which had really nice waitstaff and good food. This might be a benefit if you are a IHG Priority Club member. Guests also have free access to a small laundry facility with Speed Queen commercial washers and dryers. This facility is in demand though, so you might choose to go to a nearby commercial laundromat instead.

Yelp
Cute hotel with a great view! Keep in mind that this is a tourist destination, so pricing is higher. As a resort, they do not offer free breakfast. Our room was very spacious. Enough space for me to do a cardio workout in the room! (Didn't feel like looking for the gym). We couldn't find the elevator for our building, so we had to carry the luggage up the stairs. They have a bus stop on property.

Yelp
I hardly write a review. However, I am writing this review to make other travelers aware of the bed bugs experience we faced. On Wednesday, October 11th we checked into our room at the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor. The first evening we were face with bedbugs on our bed and one landed on my husband's shoulder. We inform the front desk and were given a different room ( not an ocean view as our original room). We had to move all of our luggage and our sleeping twins at midnight, which was a major inconvenient. When I tried to speak to the manager in the morning on October 12th, we were offered breakfast vouchers and a room upgraded. I requested a refund on our room instead of the upgrade. I was informed by the general manager that they can only refund one night of stay. For $450 plus a night this hotel is kept looking nice from the outside but once you get into the rooms they are not clean and very outdated. We stayed in two different rooms and both rooms cleanness and hygiene were poor. I found hair in the shower, the bed sheets appeared to have stains and a funky smell in the rooms. Unfortunately, our hotel was prepaid and other hotels were sold out. Save yourself the headache and hassle by booking somewhere else. The staff not that helpful at all.

Yelp
We paid $450.00 per night in august 2024 for two nights. Check in was adequate but did not feel the warmth with inviting smiles. The room was very average if not DATED. It did not measure up to the standards we paid for. Popcorn ceilings, old carpet, 40" TV sitting on the bureau, basic bathroom set-up, wall mounted soaps. AC was NOISY and had no thermostat on wall, hard to find controls, room smelled musty. Bed was comfortable, pillows were fresh, but not enough lighting. We had a parking lot view... Noisy pool with lots of screaming kids and inadequate number of lounge chairs for the size of the hotel. great views and not far from town. We will never pay those prices for this place again. Overall, it was adequate but I would not stay here again. Restaurant was good, great coffee, bit pricey and small portions.

Yelp
We stayed here over the summer and had no issues. Our room was nice, pool was open, restaurant on site was expensive but good and you can't beat that view - worth the stay just enjoying that in the morning. Only down side is the coffee situation or lack thereof.

Yelp
The breakfast was served with a side of very loud music over our heads. This was a very pricey hotel old and in need of a redo.would not recommend have been traveling and other hotels were less and much better with breakfast included. Not very impressive with food service and amenities

Yelp
There are only 2 good things about this property, the pool and the comfortable bed. The hotel is very dated. Probably 20 different carpet patterns throughout. Hotel furniture looked like it came from Salvation Army. Musty lobby, halls and elevator. The grounds are full of weeds and broken sidewalks. Room: Old dingy carpet, toilet was very crooked, all furniture from different decades. A/c worked well. Plenty of parking. Shuttle near lobby doors.

Yelp
If you want to smell athlete's foot come here. The worst hotel I have been. Only good thing here is the swimming pool but that's it. They have to rebuild the entire hotel! Location: the hotel is in Bar Harbor, Maine. Huge parking lot but it gets packed at night. Around 5 mins from downtown. Checkin Process: checkin process is so easy but the guy did not tell us that our rooms are not on the same building that we check in. It is on another building that is separated from the main building. Booking: very confusing that they have two different buildings, one is the main one and the other one is called "Eden Garden". Eden Garden is like isolated from the main building which has all the amenities. You can still use the amenities but just sucks that you feel that you are an outsider. Also, we did not know that during booking cause no description was noted online. Cleanliness: the Eden Garden needs renovation period! The hallways are dirty like in a scary movie. The rooms smell athlete's foot. We bought air freshener because we can't sleep. The interior of the rooms are old fashioned. The carpet inside the room has traces of brown stuffs, I have no idea if its blood or poop. There is insect/moth inside the room. The hallway smells weed too. I think the cleaners are not to blame here but the management. Beds: they are double beds, again everything smells like a stinky feet. Service: There is no front desk on the Eden Garden. As what I said we feel isolated here from the rest, and it was expensive as hell. You have to swipe your card between 10pm-7am, otherwise the front door will be open so everybody could go in. It is very unsafe thinking that there is no front desk. Only 1 small elevator for the whole Eden Garden building. Amenities: the only good thing here is the swimming pool because my nephews love it and mostly kids are swimming. Restaurants: the free breakfast is not buffet. You have to order from the list of items that you can order and wait for a whole hour to get it. Price: we paid 2k+ for a 3 days stay in the Eden Garden and for me it is expensive for all the crap that we get. Will never stay here again nor recommend it. They need to renovate or rebuild the hotel specially Eden House. Tourist like us needs to get what we payed for specially for a 2k stay.

S.M. T.

Yelp
I like others am only leaving one star because I have to. The staff is terribly unprofessional and I say this with experience. Former hotel staffer. The room was listed as water view, more like restaurant view and a/c unit view. Non caring employees were enough to just leave and stay elsewhere. Based on other remarks, we got off lucky. I would clean house with several staff members immediately.

Sabina D.

Yelp
We drove 8 hours only to find out that the room wasn't what we expected/booked. Although the hotel is located in an absolutely beautiful spot, the customer service was very poor to say the least.... and for sure I wouldn't call this place a resort...our room was old and looked nothing like the pictures featured on the hotels website. The front desk employee, along with the manager were extremely disconnected and unsympathetic, which was very disappointing.

Yelp
We chose this hotel since it's dog friendly (view website for restrictions) and $75 fee. They had just opened that day from Covid restrictions. It is only like a 3-5 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor and 5 minutes max to get to Acadia. I have always found parking in Bar Harbor (coin or app parking meters -free after 8pm, free until noon Sundays) Free hotel parking, we were upgraded to oceanfront room and had free breakfast (La Bella Vita). The oceanfront views were AWESOME!!!! The landscaping and grounds are beautiful!!! There is a pretty path to walk in front, nice outdoor heated pool, hot tub and water splash area and a tiki bar with an extensive resort like fun drink menu. Stewmans has a restaurant on site (closed when we were there), with outdoor seating options and a La Bella Vita here which also serves the breakfast. This is an IHG brand under Holiday Inn but signage is known as Regency Bar Harbor . Our floor and room must have been updated. Room amenities: Iron and ironing board, in room safe, hair dryer, Kcup machine, fridge, we had a balcony with 2 chairs and a little table. There's tennis courts on site and coin operated laundry. There is an Island Explorer stop here (though not running when we were there). We also Olys Trolley parked on the side so not sure if they normally run from here. Most people "patrons" on site wore masks and all staff did. There was no automatic housekeeping service you could call ahead for it, or just get more towels, etc. They have you fill out a form verifying you are not sick or have symptoms.

Yelp
When we were researching lodging options for our stay in Bar Harbor, this place popped up; I was skeptical. Holiday Inn has a connotation to me that I was not thinking would work well for us, but once we did a little bit more research, we were impressed with the location and the spectacular views from the rooms. It was cloudy and gross outside when we arrived due to Hurricane Dorian, but once we left the next day, it had cleared and the views were breathtaking. The check in and out process was smooth and easy, and we made our way to our room. We noticed that a few of the ocean facing rooms had some leakage damage because of the hurricane, but overall the hotel was in good shape. Our room overlooked the tennis courts, and was super quiet which worked well for us. The bed was comfy, and the room was clean and well appointed. We slept like a rock, and it energized us for the next day's activities. Price was really good compared to the other hotels in the area, and we didn't feel like we had to compromise on location or amenities to get this lower priced accommodation. The front desk people were not very friendly however, which was our one big gripe about the experience. We prefer West Street hotel for our Bar Harbor stays, but if we couldn't stay there, we would absolutely consider this hotel as an alternative in the future.

Yelp
Not great but good hotel with beautiful views and nice pool and hot tub. Rooms were good but not great with decent price point. Gym not so good. Location close to park and about a mile from town center nice bike ride or walk. Staff was nice. All in all I would stay there again.

T L.

Yelp
The view is nice. Our expectations weren't too high and they still fell short. The view is the water is beautiful... but I think all the hotels around here have a great view of something... whether it's the water, the changing colors or the mountains. It's a beautiful area. The staff is curt, if not rude. The food is VASTLY overpriced and mediocre at best. (I should've taken a pic of our breakfast that was $86 before tip (3 of the lowest $ meals and coffee or juice each). We had to ask for a refill on coffee and only saw our server to take order, when we sought him out for coffee and to get our bill and the place wasn't full (maybe 5 tables for 3 servers) My husband's meal was put in wrong ("my bad" from the server) and left at that. Customer service isn't their forte. The rooms are out dated and not handicapped accessible to our floor, which I find odd. Overall, I guess I'm just disappointed. especially for the price

Yelp
Location is great and bumped my one star review to a two star. Please read the other reviews (good and bad). I thought the negative ones were the exception and not the norm. I was wrong. This hotel is not good at making guests feel welcome no matter what your status with the IHG group. Wanted to share the communication struggles as evidence of the unfriendly, clueless staff at this property. We had this stay planned for a few months and I started contacting the property early via email exchange. I was confused and disheartened by that conversation since the woman on the "contact hotel" email had no idea what Spire Elite members are (the highest IHG loyalty level). Eeeek! Should have been my first warning. But I have been a loyal member for some time and had faith the rest of the staff would come through on the guaranteed upgrade to our room. There was plenty of availability. I was wrong. This was THE worst stay I have ever had at one of their properties. And not because the hotel was run down. It's a beautiful collection of buildings on the ocean's edge. The problem lies with staff, lack of communication, and customer treatment especially at the top tier loyalty level. We were downgraded from our king room to two queens. Apparently you can't have a renovated king room. The rooms are partially renovated. Would not want to see what the others looked like. Our room was on the second floor on top of the pool. We could never open our shades because the guests in the hot tub and pool were only a few feet away. Couldn't use the balcony for the same reason and it was shared with the neighboring room though all other rooms had concrete barriers in between. There was a two inch gap under the door and the housekeeping closet was across the hall. They clamored in and out all hours of the day. The week we stayed was not relaxing at all. I would not stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights during visit to Acadia NP, we paid for 4 but decided to leave early because the weather was bad and wanted to go home early - no refund for the last night, that's ok we knew what we were getting into Got a partial ocean view room on the top floor (4th), which had pretty good views. I think the room was decently clean but we brought a ton of cleaning supplies and spend 2 hours cleaning upon arrival just so we feel comfortable for the rest of the stay. Pros about the room and hotel: 1. bed was comfortable 2. room was large, with large counter and big flat screen tv (sad though we brought a chromecast to cast shows to tv but it's extremely difficult to connect chromecast with hotel wifi) 3. bathroom large and had nice counter 4. nice courtyard and walk to the docks 5. pool and hot tub looked nice but didn't use. so many people going into the hot tubs at once, I saw 10 people in the hot tub at one point 6. front desk staff are nice Cons about the room: 1. poor wifi, on the first 2 days could not get connected to wifi, or stay connected to wifi, or once connected get any good wifi. On the 3rd and 4th day though I had much more stable connection 2. I had AT&T and Verizon phones, was getting 1 or 2 bars in the room, not great but better than nothing. In Bar Harbor downtown reception is really good 3. the heater. it's cold at night so we had to leave the heater on, but it goes on and off and on and off, and it's very loud, definitely bring ear plugs 4. there's a 1 inch by 2 inch hole next to the door that leads to the balcony and cold air blows into the room from that hole, had to plug it with some towels 5. balcony on the top floor used to have a cover over the ceiling but it was missing. it rained a couple of times during the stay, we didn't get to sit on the balcony because the lounge chairs are always wet Overall, the liked the hotel and room was ok. I think with this resort you pay a lot for the amenities that are not open/usable during covid. Would not recommend staying here paying so much during the pandemic. I think it would be nice for regular times.

Yelp
We were placed in the Eden Building. Our hallway was VERY hot. One of our rooms did not have a functioning air conditioner. We called several times and had 3 technicians check it. The first night and half the second day showed 75-78 degrees in the room. We asked for a credit and we're given a free breakfast, ridiculous. We requested adjoining rooms and called in advance to confirm we would have them. We were across the hall and several doors down from each other. Finally, if they would just change out the hinges on the doors you might be able to get some rest. Another family on our hall slammed the doors until 11pm and started again at 7am. You had to make an immense effort to not allow the doors to slam. A positive: while the service was horrible, the food in the restaurant was very affordable. The grounds were beautiful. You can request racquets and tennis balls from the front desk. The balls are so overused they wont bounce. 2-stars is generous

Yelp
Decided to book here based on location. In the end think we would have been better off sacrificing location for a more comfortable stay, When we checked in we were given a room in the Eden building. I asked what the difference was between the Eden building and the main lodge. The person was very cagey with their answer and basically just said that was where some of the rooms where. As soon as we arrived at our room, we knew that we couldn't stay there. The room was located right next to the nosiest ice machine on the face of the earth. It sounded like we were next to the airport. There was no staying in this room. We called the front desk and asked to move. We were offered a room one door down. Well, that wasn't going to cut it. The we offered a room on a different floor. I asked about an ice machine and was told that there wasn't a machine on that floor. Back to the lobby to get new key cards and to ask to be moved to the main building. When I arrived back at the lobby and asked to be moved to the main building I was told in a very holier than thou manner that was the room I had booked and there was no other option. I asked to speak with the manager and was told that she was the manager. She wore no identifying name tag and I highly suspect that she wasn't telling the truth. We were stuck. The room that we had was in poor condition. The room was extremely noisy. We heard every door slam, every person going down the and hall and every toilet flush and every shower run. The Eden building is located so far away from the main building that there was no option to use the pool. This was the worst hotel stay I have had in a very long time.

Yelp
My standard is one star, I left early. Two stars means I would not come back, but I stayed. Three stars, I would come back if nothing else was available. Holiday Inn Bar Harbor is a solid two stars. Super slow internet. Older rooms. They know they have a captive audience. The site is very nice. I found a spider on my bed upon arrival. The complementary coffee is hot, brown water.

Yelp
First things first, we gotta address the overall look of this place. It is not great. It is not horrible. It is a tourist town and it is on the water. It is a large property. It has some neat little features and some run down areas but the bed was comfy. Not a lot of hallway sounds. Keeping this place up to date would be hard. But the property it sits on, the pool and the hotel bar are nice. Well worth looking past some dusty lobby, hallway furniture. I appreciated water fill stations in the lobby. It's the little things. So the good things. The pool is great. Overlooks the water, has a bar, gives some resort vibes for sure. The view. Spectacular. Right on the water. There were boats and a cruise ship and did I mention it is right on the water? The service... everyone was incredibly helpful. When we arrived a woman was going off on the people at the desk. She cut right in front of us because clearly she was more important. She went off about how her room didn't have a balcony and she was told she would have one, blah, blah, blah. She was beating up on the guy. He remained cool and collected, took her abuse without blinking an eye. All out interactions with the staff were polite and respectful. My only complaint is that the drinks at the bar were really expensive. I feel like a hotel bar is one of the few places you can get a reasonably priced drink on vacation. This is not in the heart of bar harbor. It is about a 2.5 mile walk into town. I know. We missed the last shuttle (they offer a shuttle into bar harbor!) and there were no ubers to be found after 11 PM. Or lifts. So we walked (stumbled). The last shuttle is at 9:30 BTW. On a Saturday. Lame. The water from the water station was crisp and clean.

Yelp
Came back to the hotel tonight and had ants on the counters in our room, and a strange brown liquid dripping from the bathroom vent after showering...so we can add that to the list...

Yelp
We came to this hotel with the understanding that we would have some quality vacation time with our dog. We were very disappointed to be told to leave the pool area because we have a dog. Other people brought their dogs to the pool area and were not spoken to. The quality of the rooms is poor. Our room had a musty odor and the decor was retro 1970s. The food stinks. It has a fancy Italian name but it tastes worse than Papa Gino's. The hotel staff is rude. My girlfriend and I drove 5 hours to get here. The guy behind the front desk had a nasty attitude. Overall, it was a complete and utter waste of time.

Yelp
This is my second time staying here. The grounds and location are perfect! They have an amazing tiki bar that manages the busy times well. The hotel is also dog friendly, so that's always a huge plus in my book. The hotel itself is in need of renovations. The common areas didn't have any working air conditioning or airflow. The restaurant on property while convenient.... is not worth it at all. The food is mediocre at best and staff didn't seem to care. All in all, would I stay here again? Probably if they renovated. I wouldn't eat at the restaurant again though. Walk to or ride the bus to another place to get food.

Yelp
I'm sorry but this property, in its current state, is well past its due date and is in desperate need of an upgrade. The restaurant staff are also in need of training. Yes, it's in a great location but they can no longer rely on that factor alone. For a hotel that includes 'resort' in their name there's an expectation of better quality and this place just doesn't have it. It's nothing glaringly obvious to the naked eye but if you choose to stay here you'll begin to understand what I'm referring to. The picture that I posted of the takeout box and glasses left in a common area of the hotel overnight is just one example. Doesn't any staff person walk the hallways of the hotel to check on things? Not once in an 18-hour period? I expect crap in the hallway if I stay at Motel 6 but not at some place that bills itself as a 'resort'. I could go on and cite more examples, with the main restaurant providing the bulk of the examples, but it's not worth my time. On the plus side they accept pets.

Yelp
Surprised by the numerous negative reviews - I had a nice experience at the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor! Pros: -The view is BEAUTIFUL. Splurge and get the partial or full ocean view. Otherwise you'll face a parking lot, and at that point, just go stay at a cheaper generic place... -Bathroom was spotless, shiny, and a beautiful Victorian theme -Room was clean, bed was comfortable -The pool bar is great (they bring you drinks and food poolside), and they have a pool table -Hotel breakfast was delicious, and the view from the restaurant is gorgeous -Friendly staff Cons: -No elevator in the proctor wing... -Weird dingy smell in the room -Room needs updating -Pool was a little green. Maybe they need a new pool liner? Overall, this hotel could be the most gorgeous one in Bar Harbor if they invested in updates. Although the view was gorgeous, I don't feel like the overall room is worth $350/night. Hopefully they consider updating because there is so much potential here!

Yelp
Nice option for a well priced hotel in a touristy area. I'm sure the room is more expensive in the summer months but in the fall this is very well priced. Nicely remodeled in the lobby and lounge areas. The rooms are also pretty well renovated, and clean. The only thing that is really missing in the room is usb plugs or outlets near the bed. We had two double beds, with a fridge and Keurig machine. Staff in lobby was friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed our breakfast in the restaurant with a view of the water and pool. I also loved how big their parking lot is and for no fee.

Yelp
We booked the King room ocean view. These are a few pictures of our room. We paid $200/night. Not impressed at all. The pictures online are very deceiving. Wi-Fi is horrible and not premium channels on TV. Only local stations. This was a last minute trip and didn't look at Yelp reviews. I will not rush into future bookings for vacations. Like someone said in a precious post, needs a lot of updating. I would not recommend this hotel. There are others that look a lot better. So disappointed in this experience! Also, there is no microwave. The cheaper hotels have microwaves, so I would have thought they did. But they do not.

Yelp
Excellent experience staying here for 5 nights. Ate at restaurant for a good meal, pool cabana for great drinks, and hot tub helped ease our sore muscles from hiking every night. Met so many great people. Would have appreciated more clarity on the covid policies - particularly how to get room serviced for such a long stay. It seemed to be routine to put trash outside your room and grab new towels from open closet - but was never informed clearly. Also, rooms are very thin so every morning we got woken up by early birds going to Cadillac for sunrise. However, would still stay again. Also great for dogs. We stayed at main hotel not Eden hou

Yelp
Great location with amazing views. Room was clean, service was good. Pay the extra for an oceanfront room and bring your swimsuit for the heated pool and jacuzzi . Hot tea and coffee always available and a restaurant on site. Poolside bar too

Yelp
Not worth the $. Reminds me of a cheap cruise ship. Pool and hot tub were completely packed with people. And all this during the pandemic. On top of that... - wifi doesn't work - long lines at the reception - no staff seems friendly or willing to help - hallways smell bad - came back to the room in the evening and room was the same, bed not made, etc. Apparently one has to sign up to get the room serviced. Huh? As i always try to find some positives, the hotel does sit on a nice bit of land overlooking the ocean and is close to Bar Harbor.

Butch M.

Yelp
The place was great except i requested a ocean view room with all my college alumni friends and we were put in a separate building across the parking lot with a view of the parking lot. Other than that the staff was nice the place was clean. We loved the tiki bar and restaurant by the water. A lot of walking between buildings which was hard for a disabled person. Bit in the end it all worked out because they gave me a complimentary bag of salted caramels!

Yelp
Good location near Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. Nice enough employees, heated pool, pretty clean but could be a tad better, etc. I was happy with my experience and would stay here again.

Yelp
After reading the earlier reviews, I was dubious when I first booked this reservation for a much-needed long weekend away. But I kept thinking two things: "Holiday Inn" and "location-location-location." We are happy we came here. First, "Holiday Inn:" the cleanliness, courteous service, and comfortable bed is what we have come to expect from this chain. This property did not disappoint on these specifications. The front desk staff were consistently friendly and helpful, particularly re restaurant options. Our room likewise did not disappoint. It was HUGE, with plenty of room for our luggage and hiking gear. It had a small refrigerator and large TV with plenty of working channels. The room was spotless, and kept so by the friendly housekeeping staff. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet even though we were close to the ice machines and elevators. Our Internet was mostly fine, certainly no worse than other parts of this "remote-ish" area. The only recommendation is that the furnishings (e.g. the desk and lounge areas of the room) could be outfitted with more ample seating and modern outlets, for better comfort and usefulness. Re "location-location-location:" this was the best part. It was equally close---10 min. or less either way--to the National Park entrance and Downtown Bar Harbor. This was particularly convenient for our purposes. It was great to be able to hike ourselves to exhaustion at the NP, head back to the room for a nap, and still be only 5-10 minutes away from peerless Bar Harbor seafood. Re the amenities: one word---COVID. It is a beautiful property, right on the water. But there are necessary limitations right now. Given how close it is to Acadia NP (where one can socially distance in spectacular fashion) and Downtown Bar Harbor, with food and shopping options galore, I think they can be cut some slack for limited restaurant and hot tub amenities. In sum, this property met our needs for a quick vacation. We thank the staff for their friendly hospitality and their helping us to enjoy a most needed and relaxing holiday away. We recommend.

Yelp
Pros: - Great location! The views of the ocean are spectacular and if you're here in the summer as we were, the views from the back of the hotel resemble the Caribbean rather than Maine - The service is efficient if not overly friendly. Everything that we requested was delivered promptly. - The AC worked really well and we were able to keep the room cool enough to our liking. - Nice pool area and bar Cons: - The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. However, I managed to get good sleep, so not a significant con. - The room felt dusty. This may be due to the excess construction on the main road. - The pillows in our room were all very firm and difficult to sleep on. However, this was resolved by calling the front desk on the second day. - Pricey. The rates are much higher than you'd expect from a holiday inn, but that's to be expected with the supply in this area being somewhat lean during the summer.

Yelp
Location is great! They are dog friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Hallways and the parking lots had small amounts of trash around which made it challenging when walking our dog around. Staff were very kind! They have a hot tub and pool which were nice! Great stay overall.

Yelp
I like the rooms but the restaurant have very poor service we had told our waitress that we were vegetarian, and she had yet to tell the kitchen they served us meat, and then she said that there was no meat on the food, even though there was clearly pork. we were very disappointed because we love the hotel, but this will be an incident we will never forget. The waiter, then proceeded to ask if we would like to pay for the bill, even though we didn't touch the food. My guardian that ate some of the pork that has been a vegetarian for 37 years is now throwing up in our hotel room. If you have any allergies, I would not recommend this restaurant because they clearly do not pay attention to your request.

Yelp
If you love the smell of wet dogs or wet socks then this is the perfect place for you. I already left this hotel but I'm still wondering is it really Holiday Inn or Bar Harbor Regency or both. Both signs are at the front The only good thing about this hotel is the view. But I guess you can get the same view elsewhere in Bar Harbor as long as the hotel is waterfront. Check in was okay but wasn't told that the hotel is located on a different building called Eden House. It is just a building. No lobby or anything. The door stays open during the day and locks up at night. So anyone can basically go in and out during the day. This so called Eden House or garden or whatever is located on the side of the main hotel, beside the highway. It is old. Dingy. Smelly. Again, think wet dogs or wet socks. Only one elevator. The room is nothing to write about. I had to buy lysol and air freshener for my sanity. The beds are soooo small. The carpets are stained. There's bugs in the room. There's mold in the bathroom. This hotel is overpriced. Good thing we only sleep in it and not really spent a lot of time in it. Look around for other places before considering this hotel. You have been warned!

Kendra L.

Yelp
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. When we got to our room, a huge section of carpet was soaking wet. We called the front desk and they agreed to send maintenance up right away. While we were waiting, I went to the front desk to ask for a room change. The floor was so wet it was obvious the room was uninhabitable and we'd need to change rooms. The front desk individual (forget his exact name but was something like Mikhail) was dismissive and said they didn't have any other comparable rooms available. After that experience and relying on him saying we wouldn't be able to rebook a comparable room (one of the only reasons we chose the hotel in the first place were the ocean view king rooms), we made the quick decision to book an alternative hotel before losing out on an available room. When we went back down to cancel our reservation, they told us we'd owe a cancellation fee of around $400, and lied and said it was not hotel policy, but Expedia. (We booked through Hotels.com, but most hotel systems show all third party reservations as Expedia). Frustrated and wanting to move on, we left for our much better hotel. I then called Hotels.com customer support, which was incredibly helpful and was told the cancellation fee was the hotel's policy, not theirs, and the hotel refused to refund. There was no chance of them rebooking that room - it was uninhabitable, so their refusal is pure greed and bad customer service. I'll be raising this to corporate IHG as well and warning everyone I know not to stay here. UPDATE: the general manager got in touch and refunded the cancellation fee, which was great. Took a lot of effort to get there (many emails, reaching out to different people), but I'm glad they finally did the right thing. They get one star added back for that.

Yelp
We booked a 4 night stay, in last week of August 2021. We booked a room through Costco travel expecting that we would get a decent hotel room. Costco Travel only allows the members to book Eden house, which is an old part of the hotel, completely detached from the main wing. The room that we got was in dire need of remodeling. AC unit was very noisy, Window railing was dented which prevented 100% closure. The worst part was a patchy fungus on the toilet seat (see photos). We talked to the hotel manager (yes we talked to the same person on multiple days) and here's the feedback we received: On AC unit: Day 1: we will get it fixed while you guys are out. Day 2: all rooms have the same AC unit and they all make same kind of noise. At that point we gave up on getting the AC fixed. What kind of resort has noisy AC units that deprive guests a good night sleep. On Toilet seat that's growing fungus: Hotel manager didn't even try to get it fixed. Just ignored us. This place calls it a Resort, but the quality of the room that we stayed and the service that we received was hardly that. I would never stay in this place again.

Yelp
We enjoyed our last two nights after we were moved from the Eden building to the main building however the first two night staying in the Eden building could have been better. The bathroom door was to big for the door frame so it made a loud screeching noise every time you open or close it. The AC is extremely loud leaks on your head while you are in the bathroom and the mini fridge made a high pitched squeal the whole night. After our first night we tried to get moved however there was nothing available. We asked again the second day and got lucky. All in all would stay here again but only in the main building.

Yelp
First let me clarify the name. This hotel USED TO BE the Regency Bar Harbor. As I came into town, I spotted the Holiday Inn sign but was too late to make the turn. So, I turned into the Bar Harbor Regency to turn around and go back to the Holiday Inn. Once in the Holiday Inn parking lot, I followed the signs back to the Bar Harbor Regency which is now known as the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor. The acquisition and name change must have been recent since the signage hasn't been updated. As other reviews have noted, the lobby and restaurant areas are nicely done but the rooms are sort of old and tired. The staff at the front desk was efficient but not overly friendly. They had more of a big city attitude rather than a vacation resort mind-set. We were here in mid-September and the hotel was sold-out. We asked if they had any rooms with an ocean view and were told -- those are "first come/first served" and there aren't any available. We went ahead and checked in and found our 2nd floor room to be directly across from the vending and ice machines and next to the elevators. I went back to the desk to see if they had something that might be a bit quieter and was done -- not unless you want to go to "the other building" - which I think was the old Holiday Inn building across the parking lot. We settled for the room in the main building and fortunately it was relatively quiet during the night. We're also members of their Holiday Inn loyalty program (IHG) but that obviously carried NO weight with this particular Holiday Inn. The rooms all have balconies. In the 1 wing, there are doors from your room onto the balcony but in our wing, access to the balcony involved stepping out the window over the wall beneath the window. My wife asked if we were supposed to be going out this way when I pointed out that all of the balconies (EXCEPT OURS) had lawn chairs on them. We were ready to head into town so sitting on the balcony and looking at the parking lot was not high on our list. We did walk the grounds of the hotel and they were STUNNING. The setting is absolutely beautiful. When we were ready to head into town, we asked about the shuttle and were told that it didn't run after Labor Day (remember this is mid-September and the place is still sold out). The one staff member who needs to be "called out" was the young doorman. He was exceedingly polite and helpful. He was more than willing to help with directions and to give suggestions. He was a credit to the Holiday Inn staff. Other than this young man, there wasn't anyone on the staff that merits any recognition. The PLUSES -- it was clean, relatively quiet and comfortable --- but -- for the price, I expected better.

Yelp
Overrated and a major disappointment. I booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. Check-in per the contract in the email is 3 p.m. I arrived at 3:02 p.m. - making sure not to be that annoying tourist who arrives early and expects a room ready - and was told that only one room was available and that they would text me when the other room was done. By 3:54 p.m., there had been no text, the front desk was empty for periods of time with no one to help out clients, and the hotel wasn't answering telephone calls (I thought it would be easier to inquire into the room status that way than bother people at the desk). When I finally got a living breathing person and complained, a room was suddenly available. However, instead of being deferential and accommodating, the staff member immediately let me know that company policy dictates that check-in is 4 p.m. I showed the woman the email from Holiday Inn clearly stating that my check-in time was 3 p.m. - how am I supposed to know the policy if it isn't broadcasted correctly to me? She completely ignored my attempt to figure out the situation, repeated the 4 p.m. statement as if it somehow were the gospel, and said my room was ready (gee, thanks for the text you promised). Then, when we got the room, it didn't have a balcony. Our other room did. When I asked why there was no balcony, I was given another lie - that a balcony is not promised to any guest. Well, the website states that a balcony is an included amenity. So another bald-faced lie (this is actually deceptive advertising). The grounds themselves are unclean and untidy, the waiting lines at the front desk are obnoxiously long, and the pool looks like a Covid-19 disaster about to explode. The hotel is completely understaffed, and those that are working there are rude and unprofessional. This place costs over $200 a night. For this much money, the staff's behavior is wholly unacceptable. I would never ever go here again, and I will refrain from ever checking in to another Holiday Inn. Save your money and go to a better place with better staff, better prices and a better overall experience.

Yelp
Please do yourself a favor and stay away. Looks pretty from the outside but on the inside. Total crap. My boyfriend and I checked in this morning 8/23/2020 into our room in the Eden building not the main building, all was fine until I check the room like the crazy person I am for bed bug or any kind of bugs in general. I find nothing but disgusting spider webs in the corner by our air conditioner, and I get that we're next to A national park, but come on. These things look like they haven't been cleaned up in months. THEN all was ok until my bf and I come back from the pool, we showered and he went to go get a shirt so we can go out and there was a roach, A ROACH, on his shirt. Mind you the shirt was on the table. He freaked out so I immediately called the front desk to inform them. She then proceeded to tell me that Maine doesn't have roaches, I was like excuse me what? I have one right here. She then again tells me maine doesn't have any roaches at all and says she will send someone to come get the roach. No one comes Lmfao lady you are crazy. So me pissed off I walked my arse to the front desk to tell them again because I guess they didn't take me seriously. She then tells me that she can switch our room to the main building. Wow so nice lady. After we argue about Maine not having roaches. LOL This place is a joke. Don't stay here. I'm currently laying in bed itching to death because I hate bugs :)

Yelp
Too crowded with no social distancing in place. I booked this hotel because it had a nice waterfront with an outdoor pool/ hot tub and I'm a loyal IHG member. The pool area was packed! This is disgusting even without a pandemic! We did not end up using the pool. The place made me want to spend as little as possible at the hotel. We even took the stairs as the elevators were constantly occupied. The place is distinguishing, crowded, and crawling with kids! The hotel should have pool and elevator capacity restrictions but none were seen. Our shower curtain had mold on it. I got no recognition as an IHG Spire Elite snd I would have booked elsewhere had I known. So much for loyalty.
