My first impression when arriving at the hotel was rather disappointing. The interior of the building and my room really showed their age. In its prime – maybe 40 or 50 years ago – the hotel must have been a state of the art accommodation. Meanwhile the glamour seems to have gone. I found the cover of the chairs slightly torn and cigarette holes in the curtain. The walls showed signs of bruises where over the years luggage and bags made involuntary contact. All in all it would be time for some new coating. On the other hand I appreciated a few clever details like the switch for the fridge and the separate door to the bedroom, which really shut off the noise from the corridor completely at night. The window (with a wonderful view over the park and the beach) could be opened slightly although it is advised not to (“Please close the windows in your rooms. Various insects might visit your room since Aoshima has rich nature”). The room itself as well as the bathroom with separate toilet were of generous size. Furthermore, I very much enjoyed the hot springs on the third floor as well as the wide and varied choices at the breakfast buffet each morning. The hotel has easy access to the promenade along the beach into the village of Aoshima as well as Aoshima Island and it is lit at night. The walk along at sunset was a very pleasant experience. During my stay at the so-called “Golden Week” there were a fair number of families with young children as well as well as seasoned and novice surfers staying at the hotel. This made up for a rather interesting mix of mostly Japanese guests, which made me feel at ease very much. Last but not least, all the staff were tremendously friendly and on several occasions went out of their way to answer questions and make things happen. In short: for me the real charm of the place only became apparent on second sight and I would happily stay there again.

Beautiful big room overlooking the beach, super clean and affordable. From the moment you get there you feel taken care of. Perfect place to stay for our 3 nights. Breakfast and dinner buffets both really nice too. Has everything you could want and we would definitely stay again.

Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki is a well-located seaside retreat that offers stunning ocean views and easy access to Aoshima’s top attractions. While the hotel shows signs of being a bit dated, it still provides a comfortable and relaxing stay, with spacious rooms overlooking the Pacific.||The resort’s onsen (hot spring) is a highlight, offering a soothing experience with scenic views of the beach. The hotel also features an indoor pool, a fitness center, and multiple dining options serving both Japanese and Western cuisine.||One of its greatest strengths is its prime location, just a short walk from Aoshima Shrine, the famous Devil’s Washboard, and the beautiful coastline. Whether you're here for sightseeing, surfing, or simply unwinding by the sea, the Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki remains a solid choice for visitors looking for convenience and relaxation in southern Miyazaki.

Hi To

I already replied to the review in an email a few days ago, but if you or the hotel still need it, I will venture to give my frank opinions again. 1.Parking: The parking lot in front of the hotel was full during the peak check-in hours, and I was directed to a parking lot across the street. However, after that time, there were vacant spaces available. Looking back, I wondered if non-staying guests using the day spa occupied those spots. I felt that it was not ideal for staying guests to have to park in a lot away from the hotel. 2.Guest Room: ① The step between the room and the area with the bathroom sink inside the guest room is dangerous. The steps are carpeted, making the difference in level with the floor difficult to see, and I felt there was a risk of falling. Even if not fully barrier-free, I would have preferred a gentle slope. ② The refrigerator was too old, and the loud, low humming noise was so bad that it was impossible to sleep. In the two bedrooms of the suite room, I managed to find the switches and turn off the refrigerators, but I couldn't find the switch for the refrigerator in the living room, so the noise continued all night. ③ The hook for locking the window in the bedroom was worn out due to age, and there was a whistling sound from the wind. I don't mind white noise, so I managed to sleep somehow. 3.Staff Uniforms in the Dining Area: The color of the guest room pajamas and the staff uniforms were almost the same, making it difficult to distinguish who was a staff member, which made ordering drinks and other things challenging. 4.Drink Menu: There were only half bottles of wine on the menu, and ordering several felt troublesome. As a result, I ended up ordering three bottles. If keeping limited stock is a cost-saving measure, perhaps offering an all-you-can-drink option with a time limit could be considered. 5.Bar: After having a meal at the restaurant, I went to the bar and found out that it was a self-service system where you buy coupons at the front desk. Drinking alone in an empty bar felt less appealing than drinking in my room. 6.Hot Spring? Public Bath: There was no detailed information letter in the room. When I went to take a bath, there were ¥100 lockers. I went back to my room to get cash, but when I proceeded to the changing room, there were free lockers. I wondered if the paid lockers at the entrance were necessary. Looking back, I thought they might have been for day-trip bathers' shoes. At the very least, I felt that staying guests should have some guidance in their rooms. 7.Balcony: There was only a table in the middle that looked like it was used for barbecues in the past. However, modern resort hotels have bed-type chairs and tables found by the beach or poolside. It felt out of place for a contemporary resort. There were still other things that concerned me, but given the price, the rooms and meals were very reasonable, and the cost performance would be excellent for surfers and families. As a guest who booked a suite room expecting the best service, the issues mentioned in (2. Guest Room) were concerning. These are my comments.

This hotel has ocean-facing bedrooms with expansive views of the sea and Aoshima Island, great for catching sunrise. Other nice features include public baths and convenient coin laundry facilities.

The hostel is a bit old and well, some stuff are badly conceived as hostel construction have evolved a lot. That being said, don't let this introduction fool you, this hostel is a real gem! The room was spotless, the service friendly and efficient. They spoke english well (and were kind enough to indulge our broken japanese :D) The spot and view is idylic if you like hawai like mood. The spa is great. For the price, (we paid 110 per night for two on one of the top two floor) It's way better than any random hotel in miyazaki (well except the sheraton maybe but you wouldn't read this if you had the budget lol) Just don't make the same mistakes as us: - If you come from the airport station, don"t use your IC card (because the station you'll exist from don't have IC gates, so you need to use a prepaid ticket. - If you plan to go to the udo-jingu by renting a bike: plan a plan B because it can get very windy.

The hotel is located in a rather remote location. There's a nearby (7 minute walk) train station: Kodomonokuni, you can get to Miyazaki from here in around 30 minutes, but keep in mind it's a small station so there are few trains and you must check the schedule. A bus can also take you to the city center in around 1 hour. The hotel is in front of a beach, it seems you can not swim here though there are some marine activities available, like surf lessons, snorkeling, etc. The hotel also provides 2 restaurants, 1 buffet, 1 unmanned cafe, an indoor pool (closed at the time of writing) and a spa. The spa is nice and well maintained. In the room (I had a Japanese one), you will find a genkan (where you take your shoes off) and then a tatami floor room with a traditional table and chairs, a TV, a tea set, A/C and humidifier. Around 18h30, the staff will come to set up the room for sleeping with futons. Also in the room a safe (mine was broken) and a mini fridge The bathroom is a standard bath unit (bath + shower), the toilets are a Japanese bidet. There is also a sink with some amenities (toothbrush, razor, etc). What was good: - public bath - breakfast buffet (TIP: you can ask for toppings to the omelet guy) - wifi is powerful What could be better: - A/C has poor performances and works strangely - noisy fridge - broken safe

Yelp
I have stayed at the Ana Resort twice, and this is an amazing hotel! All rooms have a full ocean view, due to the way it was designed. My first stay was in 2014 and I was lucky enough to travel to Japan again in April 2016, and booked for a longer stay because I love staying at this resort. The rooms are large and beautiful, super clean. The beaches of Aoshima are beautiful! I book the room with the breakfast, which is a buffet of Japanese and American food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Within walking distance is the beautiful Miyakoh Gardens, the Aoshima Shrine, the Rose garden. I love traveling down the Nichinan coast to see the wild horses on Cape Toi.
