My family of three stayed for 4 nights at the end of June. Based on the negative reviews I saw, I was a little nervous about the state of the resort but was pleasantly surprised. It definitely needs cosmetic updating but it is clear that is being addressed. We hope to return this coming summer to see the progress. The Ocean Front Jr. Suite was smaller than described but the view was amazing. Being that we spent most of the time on the beautiful private island we didn't really care what the room was like as we were rarely there. It was clean and the AC worked - perfect. The beach is amazing, and the staff was friendly enough ... I wasn't given a warm and fuzzy feeling by much of the staff - but they were all very busy all the time. All in all, we were very pleased with the experience especially at a very reasonable price. This was my 14-year-old daughters first trip out of the US, and she was absolutely in love with the resort. I definitely recommend for families looking for paradise while on a budget :)

The location is a true beauty! My family and I felt safe, welcomed and treated with an exceptional service. The food varied with flavors, but nothing compared to traditional Jamaican cuisine. Delish! The rooms were clean but the AC faltered at times. Pools and beach were well kept with life guards on deck at all times. Entertainment was okay, but there is something for everyone. It’s under renovation so some activities are down but overall it was a fantastic experience. Great for the family.

Here is my full opinion: This place has great potential. We had wonderful service, all staff was great, We had dinner at most of the restaurants: Momma Mia 3 times our waiter “Cruise” was great. Beloved food was great however it took them forever to get the food out to you. We loved the location and the little island. The gym was nice and clean. Night time entertainment for someone who doesn’t stay up late, 8pm was a great time for us to enjoy the bands on those nights. This is not a party resort it’s very relaxing. Also security was great. I’m my opinion on improvement. Need to Add more umbrellas around the pool for shade. There is bare minimum at this time. The self serve drink machine only worked for about half the time we was there. There needs to be an area were simple food is served late a night. (Hot dog &chips) this is great for ones who miss dinner from some unknown occasion. Lunch time it’s hot and there is no were to eat that has AC. The adult area with swim up bar was closed for renovation during our stay. I do believe after all renovations this place will be amazing. Also Beware there are ones running around trying to get u to sit with them, and to buy time share.

Check-in always a breeze - using your passport for ID will speed things up. Rooms are always clean and cool. Javaugn the chef did his thing on those ox tails. This resort along this strip has the best beach and is also a great place for beginner snorkeling (5ft or less).

Tanisha was amazing during the dinner service in the grand Caribbean dining room. She was very attentive and accommodating. Shauna was also amazing. I travelled by myself and she made sure to treat me like everyone else. She made it a great experience and not once did I feel lonely. There is amazing staff. The food wasn’t bad but she made it a good experience

The staffs are amazing. The hotel is basic. The bed was clean and fresh however the curtains were dirty for both the bedroom and bathroom. The shower head need to change and the resources such as tissue are limited. I didn't like the fact that while eating cats just walk in and bear in mind some persons are allergic to animal. The food was ok but the best liquid to have is coffee. The entertainment could have been better but kudos for trying.

My experience here was a mix of highs and lows. The property in the outside was very nice My toddler enjoyed the pool and I liked meandering along the beach and relaxing. The entertainment was also pretty good. My room was fair but the bathroom was ancient. I questioned how clean the shower stall was since it seemed to have been in there since the 70s. My family member had a worse room where the ac barely worked and made me feel like I would be poisoned or something from breathing in the air. The food was sub par. For example, the jerk pork tasted as if it was seasoned with the cheapest jerk rub on the planet, most of the juices tasted like expired drink mixes with a strange after taste and ice cream had a weird texture. The vanilla icecream had a brown tinge. That was crazy. I had a burger from the grill and I simply could not detect what I had put on it that tasted like some sort of cleaning agent. The staff were also hit or miss. Some were pleasant, others were not. Its not a bad hotel but an overhaul is absolutely required.

My husband and I spent one week at Catalonia Montego Bay Resort. It was our first time at this resort. The positives: The staff was polite and accommodating. Our room was cleaned daily with new towels and water bottles stocked in the fridge. There was a variety of foods at the buffet every day. However, a little repetitive. The food at the Italian and Jamaican a la cartes was excellent. The food at the Italian restaurant was delicious! Perhaps, one of the best Italian a la cartes that we have dined at... Our server, Cruise was very professional with a pleasant personality. The entertainment on Friday night and the weekend was fantastic. On Monday night, there was an exceptional saxophone player! There was a beautiful, peaceful island that you can walk to for lounging. The pool had activities and music all day. The negatives: The whole resort is very old and run down. Our room was very old in building 2. The bathroom was awful. It was small; very outdated with a peeling ceiling and broken tiles. As well, there's no privacy in the washroom because you can hear the people in the room next to you through the vent. At the food shacks, at times, they ran out of food. No sandwiches at the Bikini Bites; gin at the Grill snack bar; and straws. The beach was really non- existent. It is very shallow at all times and the water gets very warm by the afternoon. When the water recedes, it is at your ankle. It's great for kids or seniors but if you want to swim, it's not the beach for you. The resort has very few huts for shade for the number of people. Beware of internal soliciting by the sales people of the Exclusives Club which can take up 2 hours or more of your time selling you a membership. Overall, our experience at this resort was mediocre and we probably would not return, unless improvements were made in the future.
