I LOVED this motel when I first arrived. And I'd say it dropped down a bit while there, just because of a bug in the bathroom and a towel or two that weren't so clean. But still, if you check out the pics and see the mini-fridge and microwave, you know it's a cute place. And it's an old motel, so it's got that vintage thing going for it.
And then I got home. I'd noticed a couple bug bites on me during my two-night stay at the motel, but it's summer and hot, so I didn't think much about it. But at home that first night (last night), I stripped for the shower. Well, I've got about 40 bites unlike any I've received before. I had my suspicions, so I googled to see what bedbug bites look like, and this is them. Moreover, the googling accidentally brought up pictures of bedbugs, and I can now say that the bug in the bathroom was a full (having eaten) bedbug. Great.
Anyhoo, the place was quiet, I slept well, the wifi was not perfect, but it was adequate, and I felt safe. Also, I've since learned that a place can be clean and have these things. I wouldn't say it was perfectly clean, but I didn't suspect bedbugs while I was there.
It's important to note that literally as I left a mattress store was delivering a new mattress to the room next to mine. So, I really think the owners are trying very hard to get the rooms bedbug free. But it's not easy. I am only doing things as precautionary now, and I've got all the things in the hot wash and dryer, things in sealed bags in the car (for heat to kill any bugs or eggs), and...well, I don't even see any bugs. I can't imagine how hard it is when you can actually see them.
I am optimistic, because the owners seem to care about making this place a good one, BUT I have to admit I wouldn't stay there again after getting so many bites. And I would dissuade anyone who asked me about it. That's hard to say, because I like the people and I think they're trying, but bedbugs. No. Can't handle that.
