Holland America Denali Lodge

I stayed here in June of 2025. I loved it! The food options and gift shops were great. It was easy to go on our excursions, and I would absolutely come back some day. They had cool entertainment as well. 10/10 recommend! ||We saw a mama moose and her two babies the first night we arrived!

Denali is stunning and I believe Holland America lets the destination do the talking as the accommodation whilst recently renovated is very basic. |The room was clean, warm and comfortable but that’s it. ||Breakfast is obtained from the kiosk within the restaurant. You can eat at the restaurant but the que is long and the service slow. There is a limited choice at the kiosk.|Dinner in the restaurant is quite good but you need to book. You can obtain a take away from the bar which we learnt about on our last night there.|The cafe upstairs in the main area wasn’t good. We were the only couple ordering and the staff stood around talking and after they took our order completely forgot about our food only gave us coffees. When we spoke to them nicely they said we didn’t order food. Fortunately we were able to prove otherwise.

If you are placed here for part of the Holland Cruise package, you will find your stay comfortable. The standard room(not the upgrade) was just fine. We had no issues with anything like I read in some other reviews. We were in section D right off the main lobby. Bus system throughout to get you any place you want to go. Food places fill up fast with long wait times, so make reservations for breakfast and dinner if you want a specific time and don’t want to wait. If you are like me and want a picture of yourself at the Denali Park sign, the buses don’t stop there. From the hotel, walk on a path that takes you by the Princess resort and then the bridge over the river about a 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile and there is a sign to the left of the paved walkway.

Old rooms, low amenities, poor quality over all. Stayed in canyon lodge, no reception, no coffee, rooms are very worn and dated. Rooms were very hot even though it was sub 50 degrees outside. No safe, little storage, poor room layout. Room quality was 2 star at best. Overall just felt like a cheap motel experience vs a resort.

This hotel in Denali Nat'l park is a delight. Instead of a high rise they built a series of small buildings nestled among the trees. The room was quite comfortable, the food in the restaurants was good, and the location is perfect. It is owned by Holland America but you don't have to be on one of their tours to stay there.

This is probably where you will stay if on a Holland America cruise/tour. I was assigned to the Canyon Lodge unit, which is a short shuttle trip from the Main Lodge. This is a rooms only unit, nothing else, so you must either walk or take the shuttle to on-site restaurants or the main Lodge to board excursions.||The bed was ok, the shower had plenty of hot water, the TV had enough channels, but the room was initially cold due to an open window. In fact, the temperature in the room had to be regulated by the amount the window was open and the heat setting on the thermostat. I asked for a wake-up call, but that didn't happen.||Not the best hotel experience, but no choice if you are on the tour.

This review is for anyone considering extending your Alaska cruise to include a land tour with Holland America. DON'T DO IT! We have no complaints about the cruise. It was great. Here's what happened to us on land:||The cruise-tour we booked was supposed to include 3 nights at the Holland America Denali Lodge and 2 full days at the Denali National Park. It is worth noting that we chose this particular itinerary to have as much time as possible in the Park.||Instead, 6 days before our trip, we were informed that "due to operational reasons" for the 3rd night of our stay we were being moved to the McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. We found out when we got to the Denali Lodge that the McKinley Princess Lodge was 2 hours/100 miles away from the Park. As a result of this change, we only got one full day in the Park. We complained to Guest Services at the Lodge and were told there was nothing they could do and to "keep an open mind" about the new location. We were also told to complain to "corporate" in Seattle which we did. We got no satisfaction from either Guest Services or Corporate. Corporate told us there was nothing they could do until the trip was over. As a direct result of being relocated, we experienced numerous other inconveniences, aggravations, headaches, etc. Holland America's treatment of us (and approximately 30 other people on our cruise) was unconscionable.||We would NOT recommend this tour to anybody.

So you’ve come off a cruise of 7 nights with u limited food and drink, amazing scenery, amazing staff. Just awesome. You endure and 11 hour train ride with staff that couldn’t be bothered and ripped you off by adding merchandise to the bar bill which you left a tip on. (Illegal or just my dumb?). ||You arrive in a breathtaking park. You show up at the canyon lodge. ||And it’s a dump. Barely clean. Regulate temperature of room by opening the window. Walls are paper thin. Hear everything. The room is dark. Barely a light. You want more towels? Good luck. You get to use the ones in the room 3x. You want coffee? Use the two pods in room and the. You’re skunked. The lodge has nothing. ||Getting around? There’s a shuttle. But they don’t run a lot. And sometimes don’t stop. And the drivers are leaving soon so the message is clear - please go home. ||Karstens was great. Food good. Went there each night. Canyon restaurant was over priced. But food was good. J-Han was an excellent server. But if you don’t have a reservation get lost. We had one for dinner but not on getaway day. Almost breakfast for you. Now I know why our initial bus driver dropped us at HAL but told us to eat at Princess. ||The nature tour was great. Saw moose. Saw McKinley. Awesome. Not sure how other reviewer didn’t know they stop at 14 miles. It’s on everything. Our tour guide Ken was great. ||Just a disappointing experience after a great cruise. HAL needs to include more and spend money on this place.
