My first visit to Holly's Hot Chicken was actually for a donut, lol. So they sell Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches (with a vegetarian option of cauliflower instead of chicken) and donuts!! My second visit was for the Hot Chicken sandwiches.
The donuts are $4 and the flavours change daily. I got the creme brulee and it was pretty tasty. It was soft and fluffy but one side had the hard crunchy glaze that creme brulee has. Such interesting texture! The donut was filled with a rich vanilla custard. I think I saw little black flecks of real vanilla bean in the filling. Surprisingly the donut was not overly sweet, which I appreciated, as "too sweet" is a common complaint of mine with desserts.
On my second visit, my husband was with me. I got the Honey Hot Chicken sandwich ($10) and my husband got the Holly's Hot Habanero Chicken sandwich ($10).
The sandwiches came on a soft plain brioche bun with iceberg lettuce, pickles and pickled onions. The chicken was super crunchy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. It was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes, but still a good solid Fried Chicken sandwich. Mine was sweet with a bit of a spicy kick. I had a bite of my husband's and it was too hot for me. It gave me that burny lip tingles feeling that I don't like, haha. He enjoyed it though, but admitted that it was hot, lol.
Service was friendly and informative.
