From start to finish, Holualoa Garden and Kitchen was an absolute joy to work with throughout the entire process of planning our wedding reception. The team was accommodating, professional, and truly went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. We want to give a special shoutout to Christian, Erin, Kries, and Daire—each of you played such an important role in making our day unforgettable. Your attention to detail, calm energy, and ability to adapt to our needs made everything feel seamless. You really helped turn our ideas into a reality, and we can’t thank you enough. The food was incredible—our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was. It was fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The kitchen absolutely nailed it. The venue itself was perfect—charming, open, and inviting, with a warm atmosphere that matched the spirit of the day. It felt like a space that was truly made for a celebration like ours. Whether you’re planning a large event or simply looking for a casual meal, we highly recommend Holualoa Garden and Kitchen. They’re not only amazing at what they do, but they’re also genuinely wonderful people to work with. Mahalo to each and every one of you for making our reception and our special day so memorable. -Sean + Bailey Silva

Google
Great vibes and aesthetics. The food was really great, drinks as well. Even though it was a little busy , the food came out in a reasonable time. They had some live music and cute big pink teddy bears at the tables for Valentine’s Day coming up.

We recently held a post wedding brunch for 30 people at Holualoa and while the food and atmosphere were wonderful, it was the staff that really shined. Erin, Christian, Dara and Brooklyn were so kind and helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed. They had our event space set up perfectly as well. Communication was great as we were planning event from the mainland. The pastries baked by Michelle tasted as if they were homemade! It was a perfect day at a really special place in Holualoa!!

Google
Very beautiful restaurant indoor/outdoor shaded by a huge tree and surrounded by plants and flowers. There is a stream running through the middle and a green house and garden in the back. We celebrated a birthday here with a group of 12 and the service was excellent and the food delicious. Had a variety of menu options and specials. They have a full bar too.

Excellent food, plenty of Aloha and a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely come again.

Food was delicious and drinks were refreshing. We sat at the bar and got a great service from the bartender.

Google
Cool spot for breakfast. We came 2 days in a row on our trip. The stuffed French toast, breakfast burrito, breakfast quesadilla, and eggs Benedict were all really good. Friendly staff and just a chill vibe.

Google
This place is AWESOME! Especially great for you and that special someone or just a relaxed time with good friends… It’s up on the mountain side in Holualoa, a great art town. the menu offers special meals that you don’t find everywhere. The table and chairs are unique with fun chandeliers over each and great fun/romantic lighting at night. They have a guy that does a good job doing music. We loved it and will be back!!

Yelp
Food was delicious for brunch. Service is fast. Lots of younger staff. Shaded and calm zen like vibe. Seating in any spot works. There is a living veggie and fruit garden on the edge of the walls. In the heart of the artist community. Parking is on street or down by post office for free and a short (less than a block) walk up. Definitely make a reservation to make sure they are open.

Yelp
Went here for dinner on a Friday night during the art show and it was underwhelming. The ambiance of this place was awesome, there was great live music and they had some really good drink selections. Those are the only highlights though. Don't go here for the dinner food or during extremely busy times. The restaurant is not equipped to handle large rushes. It took 25 minutes just to have our drink order taken. We waited over a hour until we got our food and our drinks, though delicious, took 20 minutes to be served. If you're an average at home cook you can make just as good of food as we had last night. There was nothing special about the food at all, it sounds interesting on the menu but it was very basic when it was served. I would only recommend going here for the drinks and live music. Skip the food and the headache of having to wait forever to eat your meal.

Yelp
My daughter made a reservation for here for Brunch today. We arrived and were promptly seated. Love that the restaurant still retains that great open air relaxed vibe. Absolutely adore the decor and seating. We ordered the coconut margaritas and they were so tasty. I had the ceasar salad with a burger patty on top they have other options as well. My daughter had the huevos rancheros with an add beef patty and it was delicious. Didn't need the patty as the verde pork on top was really tasty and the portions were great. Would recommend for lunch, brunch or dinner. Great service and beautiful ambiance. Would be great for location for larger events as well.

Yelp
Excellent service from Christian and Alison today for brunch. Our burgers and pork quesadilla was excellent, and cocktails were exquisite! Mango Fuego was delicious with jalapeño infused tequila. The coco passionfruit mojito was also very refreshing. Cute decor, open ambiance. I love the cups and the peacock chairs. Low visibility today of the ocean, but still a great experience. Live music set the mood.

Yelp
Excellent prime rib. My wife had the best seared ahi ever. Fun atmosphere and good service. Such a lovely spot. We are going for dinner tonight again

Yelp
Holualoa Garden and Kitchen - great local place for breakfast lunch/brunch or dinner. Friendly, attentive service. Fresh produce, and a full bar. Holualoa itself, is a great place to chill and visit local shops in the hillside community. Holualoa Kitchen adds to the local vibe and often has entertainment/music at night. The overall setting is clean and refreshing with plenty of room and an ocean view. It's located at a comfortable elevation, with a nice breeze. We ordered their Avocado toast with a poached egg - excellent. Also have enjoyed their burger with a double patty. They have occasional specials such as a Loco Moco which was awesome! Great place to take time and enjoy island life. "Imi Ola"

Yelp
This place is heavenly! It's an open air restaurant and bar with beautiful landscape and decor. Bar is laid back, server Derek was hip as Hell... at least to us two oldies! I liked the comradery of the coworkers and the friendly conversation with us! Drinks are great, Pink Palace was pink deliciousness! The location is up in Holualoha which is a cute artisan town up the hill from Kailua and no parking fees! Temps are cooler and we had a wonderful, dreamy rainfall the night we visited! They have roofs overhead. Food was amazing too! Can't wait to make our way back again!

Yelp
Another great lunch at Holualoa Garden & Kitchen. Enjoyed the Fish Tacos and a Margarita, served up by Derek; Mr. Aloha hisself and finished off with Espresso from Christian. These two are some of the authentically "local boys" who really share their mana'o and local knowledge. So epic. Not to mention the really cool vibe in the outdoor covered garden. I realized, I do Like the minimalist menu; it makes it easy to choose and everything is made with local ingredients. The Huevos Rancheros is awesome and once again, all businesses are short on staff so what happens is the ones who show up; Derek and Christian are doing double time and double duty. Tip these guys, please. Share the love and aloha! Mahalo plenty.

Yelp
Food is horrible, i have ate here twice each time the food was bad. The help and location is great. The musician Haunani is terrific.

Yelp
Beautiful and clean restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was really good. Great experience and we will be back.

Yelp
Terrible, AGAIN...so disappointed, this restaurant has (did, previously) potential, a great location, ambiance BUT the food....fish dry, ribeye served cool, asparagus burnt. Last month tried their BBQ, a joke..nothing was even grilled on a BBQ- ribs-cold, no grill marks (think it was boiled), sauce on top, Tri-tip-cold, dry...green beans with bacon was canned green beans, come on use fresh produce & lilikoi cheesecake not good ...Years ago was a favorite restaurant-fresh produce, quality meats, poultry & ambiance. They need a new chef, something is definitely wrong in the kitchen. Been going for 10 years, restaurant closed COVID & re-opened & have been going but something is not working, the past 4+ months.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Major bummer because ambiance and location is stellar. Food is not good whatsoever for the price especially. Avocado toast is untoasted bread with what seems like a thin layer of packaged guacamole... lame. Smash burger is a regular burger, nothing smashed about it. There was maybe three tables and our food took almost an hour to arrive... come for drinks and live music but skip the food.
google avatar

DeAnn I.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. A beautiful outdoor covered patio with a romantic and classy ambiance. They were happy to accommodate a request for vegan/vegeterian meals. Fantastic drink specials and the impromptu coco lilikoi mock-tail was amazing. We will back again and again!

Yelp
This restaurant was an old favorite that closed down during Covid or shortly there afterwards. It's reopened under a new owner who's done some great things with it. The place is absolutely beautiful and has a great vibe and the food is delicious. We had the burger that was off the charts. You'll really enjoy yourself by stopping in.

Yelp
Some of the best live music on the island in a lovely quiet garden with an ocean view. They grow some of their own herbs and vegetables, fresh well prepared food, Kona coffee and craft cocktails. A must visit in Kona!

Yelp
Ambience and service was great food is not so great, I mean it looks good, I still would go there but not for food 1 for the food, 5 for the ambience and all the greenery & plants
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped for lunch. Great food, service, ambience. Great burger and cheesecake. We will be back again!

Shanda B.

Yelp
I have come to this beautiful little place for over a year. The staff treats you like family and omg the food is amazing! If you don't believe me go check it out. You'll see.
google avatar

Surashree K.

Yelp
What a paradise! Beautiful decor, waterfall like feel, and friendly staff! Good clean food. Went there for Christmas Eve dinner, had pork with cabbage, grilled asparagus and potatoes - lovely combination of flavors! Brownie bites for desserts. Staff recommended cocktails which were yum!

Yelp
This restaurant is tucked into a beautiful, tropical garden. You're greeted by an amazing ocean view from 1300 ft or you can watch the vivid flat screen at the bar. My husband ordered several house specialty cocktails and they were delicious. The French Toast from the brunch menu was exquisite and came adorned with fresh berries that my toddler devoured. We spoke with Chef Jose whom was a lovely gentleman. Looking forward to returning for the dinner menu. Take the time to drive the extra 15 minutes from Kona Town to try out this restaurant. You won't regret it!

Quinn B.

Yelp
Good food and good drinks. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito with chorizo Christian provided exceptional service as our server/bartender! A+ experience (get the bloody Maria)

Mike K.

Yelp
We went for breakfast. Limited menu selection, particularly if you don't like eggs. The Fish Tacos were good, portions size was too small, but had a generous quantity of rice and beans. Service was quick & friendly. Beautiful and comfortable seating outside if you avoid the picnic tables.

Albert L.

Yelp
Delicious food, beautiful and serene ambiance in the garden, this place is a treasure. My wife had the mahi mahi fish tacos and I had the Canadian bacon eggs Benedict. We both got side salads with lilikoi vinaigrette which was bright and wonderful. Everything was fresh and high quality. The Canadian bacon was a thick serious piece of meat.

Shauna B.

Yelp
BBQ night was fantastic and the live music was great! Server was friendly and knowledgeable. They do a nice job!

Kona W.

Yelp
Caesar salad was wet, wilted and watery, topped with visually unappealing brown sardine strips. Service was wonderful, tho.

Aditi A.

Yelp
This was the perfect place for our last morning on the island! Such kind and accommodating staff, fresh and tasty food, and just a beautiful setup and atmosphere. Highly recommend coming here!

Curtis C.

Yelp
We recently had a week and a half vacation on the Big Island. This was our favorite restaurant. The decor and ambience are beautifu. We went for a late breakfast after church and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. They also had a band playing some really good Hawaiian music. We bought tee shirts at the coffee shop next door, which had a nice selection.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this restaurant. It is a hidden gem in the hills overlooking Kona. The service was friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful with all of the flowers and plants and trees around, and the food and drinks were delicious. I wish I could go back but we were only visiting Hawaii for a few days from Colorado. I would highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Yelp
We went for Easter Brunch today- the space is so nice, wonderful ambiance, love the renovations, tropical gardens, etc. great, friendly service, everyone loved their cocktails - BUT 6/7 of my groups dishes arrived cold (my cold eggs benny was pretty disappointing) and 1 persons meal arrived 30min later than everyone else's....seems like more than a few reviews of this place have mentioned their food arriving cold- what's up with that?
google avatar

Kamaka C.

Yelp
This is a MUST stop for excellent food, great service and a beautiful atmosphere. It is so relaxing and the food was delicious. We shared sandwiches for lunch. We look forward to going back for dinner soon.

Lauren G.

Yelp
We were there for Easter brunch and it was amazing they lad live entertainment which was very good and a lady performing Hawaiian dances. The ambience is great. The only thing that I had to say about the service was that it was very slow. We waited an hour for our food. So if you aren't there to enjoy the views and have great conversation with your table don't go .There was nothing wrong with the waiter he was great he even comped our drinks and brought us over free dessert Yummm! it was just slow in the kitchen . One advice that I give you is if you book online that you better double check to make sure that the restaurant got the reservation.

Yelp
My girlfriend who just moved to the island and I tried this place and loved it. We shared a Caesar salad with beautifully cooked and seasoned mahi mahi. Christian was our bartender and he was fantastic. He makes great drinks and he is a lot of fun to talk to. We liked it so much we went back yesterday Christian was there which we were happy about and we also met the owner Kelly who was very nice and her mom! And a shout out to Barbara Hanson. We had just been in her shop which is basically next-door to the restaurant. She has a polymer clay studio and gallery which is a must visit. Barbara takes the time to explain to those who come in how she makes her jewelry and artwork and it's very interesting. We bought two necklaces which are beautiful. Obviously cannot say enough good things about this beautifully tropical decorated restaurant as well as the Barbara Hanson Studio.

Richard C.

Yelp
The service was good, but my and my wife's food was underwhelming. My wife ordered the ribeye, medium. I ordered the prime rib medium rare. My prime rib arrived and was sliced so thin and cooked more well done. It wasn't even close to medium, much less medium rare. Being so thin and over cooked made it tough to chew and dry. My wife's ribeye was a nice cut of meat but more medium rare than medium. Even though it wasn't prepared the way she ordered, she said that it was good. The couple with us ordered fish and said that it was okay. We all got a laugh at my order saying that it was as thin as Schnitzel and only needed a flour coating. We might go back but definitely won't order beef.

Alice S.

Yelp
My friend and I had lunch at this lovely outdoor dining restaurant. Friendly staff but the food is lacking.
google avatar

Linda G.

Yelp
A great find! Beautiful Ambiance, kind of Zen/Bohemian garden feeling, under a huge monkey pod.Various covered lanais, a FULL BAR and very good food and service. It had been for many years "Holuakoa Cafe". Holualoa is very picturesque and alive with tropical plants. Its above Kona in coffee country and the ride up is lovely. There's also an inn, several nice galleries and womens boutiques.

Yelp
We love discovering this new spot for my family. We are new to the area but so happy to find this gem right down the street . Service was amazing and the place is so beautiful and super clean. The food is on point and the drinks are a plus. We will be back many times from here in out. This place won't disappoint you because it can't with the staff and the attention to detail. Mahalo to all and you have made believers out of us .

Mark L.

Yelp
What amazing ambiance! Great place for dinner or just drinks at the bar with pupu's. If you sit at the bar, make sure you ask for Ali - she's amazing!
google avatar

Cam S.

Yelp
Wow, this place is an amazing find. Christian and the staff were simply amazing. Drinks out of this world and the smash burger was bomb. The garden is a super cool vibe to have brunch at. 5 star all around
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience having your thanksgiving dinner. Your amazing garden & kitchen family are so kind and accommodating. The dinner was absolutely incredible! My elderly father has distinct tastes and loved every bit of his meal that you provided. Mahalo nui loa

Anisha M.

Yelp
The vibe is very cool, but I ate their tonight and immediately got food poisoning. I told the waiter and he didn't seem concerned at all. He just asked if he should take the item off the bill. I got the Caesar Salad so I would definitely avoid that if you choose to come here but overall I'd recommend staying away from
google avatar

Patte B.

Yelp
Just got back from a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere, service and food were amazing. If you haven't been yet we highly recommend it.

Vincent C.

Yelp
This is an amazing restaurant. The food was excellent, the ambience was extremely calming with its peaceful garden setting. The lighting was beautiful and they had an amazing live musician playing traditional Hawaiian music! The service was also top notch. Elsa was absolutely amazing, a very kind person with amazing customer service, left a very memorable experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great overall experience!

Susanooo

Yelp
We decided to stop by for brunch. One of our orders was not right. Nobody ever came over after the food was delivered. We saw another table getting frustrated and finally get up to get something from the server. When he finally came over, we had just about finished. I mentioned that one of our meals came out with the protein added. His response was"yea, I saw that" obviously we didn't pay for the added protein but the cavalier attitude was not okay. We won't be back. Don't waste your money hete

Caitlin Seymore ..

Yelp
Such a beautiful atmosphere in the mountains of Kona. We were recommended to come here by a friend and it did not disappoint. Food and drinks were delicious! My husband got a passion fruit mojito and I got the mocktail version and they were so good. Christian and Alison were so kind and gave us great hospitality. Highly recommend this as a brunch spot if you're in the area. Also had live music which was a plus!

Dana S.

Yelp
We came for brunch our first time early in February and it was great. We brought friends a few weeks later and our server did a good job as it was very busy. The food was very slow coming out but was still good. We came back a few more weeks later with our son and daughter-in-law and service was slow even though it wasn't that busy. After placing our orders, it took 30 minutes to receive half our order and another 15 for the other half. No communication from our server as to the delay or when we would expect the other half. When all had arrived it was luke warm at best. It's a shame as the location is beautiful and the restaurant could be a real asset to the community of Holualoa.

Jerrie C.

Yelp
Great food and warm friendly service in a beautiful setting!! Fresh organic ingredients locally sourced

Micha K.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst meal I've ever had which is a shame because the place looks beautiful. We had a reservation for 4 of us for family brunch on our last day here. The restaurant was not very busy when we arrived, and we were asked to wait while they cleaned the table (probably 5-10 minutes) which was fine. Waited a little for our drinks, which again was fine, but our food was an ordeal. The food was slow and, apart from the french toast, sub-par. Half of our table's food was brought out after 30 minutes, and half had to wait a further 15-20 minutes. How two orders of the same dish (eggs benedict) for the same table are brought out 20 minutes apart I do not know. It was a cooler morning so I was looking forward to a warm meal; but it would be generous to call anyone's eggs lukewarm -- even my husband's sunny-side up eggs were room temperature and his plate came out first. The coddled eggs were inconsistent: one was overdone the other ran like water. At least the side potatoes were warm(ish). This all made me question whether safe food handling and heating procedures are being followed. I love to know what they planned to charge for the four measly slices of sausage we received as a side order and which the manager/owner(?) subsequently removed from the bill. The waitress barely spoke to us or acknowledged us, and did not check in on our meal at any point.
