I absolutely LOVED this place. I went in a date and neither of us had been here, we wanted something between Manchester and portsmouth, this place looked FUN. Great atmosphere... I'm not even religious and had doubts but I can't wait to come back. The food was awesome, server, she was fantastic. Music wasn't overbearing, you can have a decent conversation.

Google
Restaurant inside an old church? Why not! Very cool interior at the Holy Grail. It holds an Irish theme mixed with old church decoration (ex: church pews, stain glass, etc.). Food is decent. I got the BBQ boneless short ribs, and the meat was delicious and tender. Wish it had a bit more sauce, though. I got onion rings for a side. The batter was overcooked but good nonetheless... Very crunchy! The cornbread looked grilled (a nice touch!), but it was a bit dry. Additionally, our table all got sodas, and the mixture was extremely off. Might be time to check the soda water. Service was friendly but incredibly slow. I believe we waited an hour or so before our food came out. Overall not bad for a bite or a drink (they have quite an extensive bar selection).

Lovely family owned restaurant. My daughter was getting married in the area and I stopped in to get lunch. The bartender, Jamie, was very kind and attentive and made me want to come back a second time. But, the real kicker about why I love this place so much is, Joey (I hope its okay I call you that), the server who took care of all of us the day after my daughter's wedding. All hungover, and tired from the day before, he brought back all the life into the group. There were about 12 of us and he never forgot a thing and made us feel like royalty. Ive never had a waiter so funny, sweet, and attentive and not to mention HANDSOME. I offered my other daughter's hand in marriage to him but Joey respectfully declined. Everytime I pass by here I'll be sure to visit The Holy Grail and hopefully my future-son-in-law, Joseph. Also the French Dip was incredible. Had it twice, will probably have it everytime.

Great location!. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Caprese mozzarella appetizer was unique and delicious. So many interesting adult beverages to choose from. Many had good variety for appetizer to dessert. Highly recommend!

Stopped in at 1pm on Saturday for lunch. We were sat immediately at a table next to the bar. The decor is great to look at. We ordered 2 drinks and 2 waters. We had to ask for the waters 3 times before we finally got them. We ordered the scotch eggs app, french onion soup, and beef stew to start and California chicken sandwich special and bangers and colcannon. We watched the entire bar get served and turnover then the second round start getting served before we got any food. It took over an hour to get our app and soups. The scotch eggs were disappointingly bland and only saved by the colemans mustard and peach chutney. The french onion soup was horrible. It tasted like brown onion water. And the stew was barely warm. Very disappointing. We asked for the rest of our meals to be packaged to-go. And it's too bad because the chicken sandwich and bangers and colcannon were good. Disappointing because the place wasn't packed.

Google
Such a great place! It is an incredible Irish Pub style restaurant in an old church. The walls are covered in beautiful murals and framed coat of arms for different surnames. The food was fantastic! We split thr scotch egg app. It was our first time with scotch eggs and we want more!! I had a crock of the stew with bread, butter and a side of colcannon and 2 pints of Guinness. You can turn any of their salads into a wrap, so my SO had a chicken caesar wrap. My 7yo skipped the kids menu and had a caesar salad and some fries. This is also the first restaurant I've ever been to that offers shepherd's pie as a side dish for like 4 bucks! The service was quick and friendly. We're coming back with the whole fam.

Google
I have been here several times however, this trip wasn't good. We waited over an hour to get our food. My fish & chips were cold, soggy, and greasy. My wife's salmon was dry and also cold. We would've have asked for a new meals but, we didn't want to wait another hour for another cold fish & chips and salmon. The only good thing was our server Joe who was very professional and polite. I would definitely not recommend the fish & chips or salmon unless you like cold, greasy fish and chips.

Google
My food was very good but my son in law didn't care for the corned beef and cabbage. He had never had it and was disappointed. We had good service but it was a bit slow. The church itself is beautiful but I always feel sad when a church closes and is used for something other than worshipping God. And it was decorated with all sorts of ghouls and monsters which scared our granddaughter! Yikes! Try it for yourself and see what you think!

Yelp
Solid 5 for atmosphere and service. The music by Kitchen Party was fantastic. Our server, Jennifer, was knowledgeable, efficient, and timely. The food unfortunately was barely a 3. The ginger sesame wings and spinach dip were excellent appetizers. The fish and chips and fish sandwich were way over breaded to the point of being unedible. The baked haddock was excellent. The biggest disappointment was the Shepard's pie. 80% mashed potatoes with some ground beef and brown gravy at the bottom with a couple of small pieces of celery and no other vegetables. For dessert the carrot cake was moist and tasty while the lemon berry cake was dry and borderline stale.

Yelp
A pub is judged by its food and servers, this place had great food and a wonderful server by the name of Sheri. Ask for her by name.

Yelp
Let me start from the beginning... My wife and I stopped by on a Tuesday evening, around 7 o'clock. The restaurant was maybe half full and virtually nobody sitting at the bar. In other words, a quiet evening. Service throughout the evening was ok but slow with long waits between everything. Something akin to 10 minutes before anybody came to the table, another 10 minutes to get a couple glasses of wine, another 10 minutes for the waitress to come back and ask us if we wanted to order, thereafter probably at least 20-25 minutes to get our food and so on and so forth. As to the dining, once we finally got our glasses of wine we both noticed lipstick on our wine glasses. Whereas the waitress hadn't come back for a while I took my wife's glass to the bar and watched the bartender dump the wine into a clean glass. I might have thought she would've just dumped it out but whatever... I ordered the shepherds pie, which was actually pretty good. Only issue was it was served to me room temperature, but it was still OK. I ordered the scotch eggs, which were a complete joke. What I got was two eggs that were sliced into quarters, not at all what I was expecting. The sausage was tasteless, the hard boiled eggs were cold and rubbery and cooked to the max. Really disappointing.. in my opinion, a good scotch egg will be served whole, piping hot with a soft yolk. My wife ordered a salad which seemed to be OK. She ordered a baked potato, which was room temp, undercooked and probably prepared quite a while ago. She also ordered the mushrooms which she didn't realize were a deep-fried preparation. Those were overcooked but served room temperature. We could taste the stale oil in the product. This is one of those things where the food is so bad but the wait is so long that you just kind of go with it. Generally, we ate about a third of everything and just packaged everything else up, not wanting to be rude or make our waitress feel bad at the end of her day. But to be sure, those leftovers went straight into the garbage. The bill for all of this was just under 100 bucks and we left a $25 tip. I'm glad we gave it a try, it's a pretty cool place visually but there must be several better options for food in the area. Should've just stopped at Taco Bell...

Yelp
A buddy and I stopped for a beer and a sandwich. We had a waitress named Sheri that was a delight, just the right spice, sass and service. Beers were cold and sandwiches good. I'll ask for her again next time if she is working. Alot of fun.

Yelp
I've always been fond of this place, such a great setting! We got there early to avoid the Friday night wait and were seated immediately. Our server was pleasant. My eating buddy got bangers and mash and literally teared up as he was whisked back to England. He'd never had scotch eggs which he enjoyed too. My chicken picatta was weird? The sauce was super thick and the chicken wasn't breaded? It was better the next day but still off. I'll always like this place regardless.

Yelp
You come here for the novelty of eating in an old church. You dont come here expecting amazing food. As an appetizer, I had the buffalo chicken dip. It was surprisingly pretty good, especially with the fried tortilla pieces they served it with. It was cheesy, full of chicken, and just the right amount of franks red hot for an additional acidity. Based on looks alone, I ordered the Reuben sandwich with onion rings. The sauerkraut was a little to sour for my taste, and was overwhelming the corned beef at times. The sandwich was substantial, but dont expect it to be loaded up like at a ny deli. The onion rings were OK, with their lack of seasoning and fairly limp onion pieces.

Anthony P.

Yelp
Worst corned beef and cabbage ever. 75% gross fat. Not even close to photo on their menu. It is a disgrace that they can serve this cut of meat to a customer. I bet staff would not have eaten this. I threw it out.

Yelp
Fast friendly service, well prepared Irish food and regular American. Beer battered haddock served hot and tasty. Loads of natural fries.

Yelp
Awesome food. Fun atmosphere. Great drinks. I love this place. The shepherds pie and Guinness stew is fantastic. We always have fun when we go there.

Nancy D.

Yelp
Really good. Loved the shepherds's pie. Great drinks. Nice variety of options on the menu. Our server Jenn was fantastic. She was pleasant and efficient. You can have delicious food but the server makes the experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Don't just walk here! Run here! This place is fantastic! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was even better and our service was outstanding!!!

Yelp
Love the motif and the food has always been good (have been coming here for several years). Traditional Irish dishes on the every day menu. Great selection of beer as well.

Yelp
Sadly I am writing this review. This was a place I really enjoyed dining at in the past. Unfortunately the service and the food has continually gone down hill in the past couple years. Food is overcooked and charged for larger beers than actually poured. I really enjoyed this place...but at this point after multiple outings I won't be back.

Jane H.

Yelp
Food & service is excellent. Family owned and operated. The atmosphere is quite pleasant. Layout of the restaurant & restoration of the old church is impressive & enjoyable, along with all the memorabilia make it fun.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and food. Service was upbeat and friendly. Will visit again when in the area.

Yelp
Had a delightful dining experience at Holy Grail recently. Met with 8 family members including a two year old and 6 week old baby. We received excellent service from Jennifer who was friendly and prompt with all of our needs. The food was really good. We shared Irish Nachos and Philly Cheesesteak Rolls. For dinner we had Bangers and Colcannon (so good!), a Kahuna Burger, a Veggie Burger, a Smokehouse Burger and a Reuben. Everything was delicious. Of course, we enjoyed a few brews. They have beer cocktails-I had a Guinness and Shed mixture-very good. The restaurant is large with various types of seating. Dry kid friendly. Interesting decor as the building was formally a church. Plenty of parking, clean bathrooms. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Really awesome set up in the interior very creative with the menus and how they collaborated everything from what was once a church! Pleasantly surprised and the food was pretty good. Got the fish tacos. Was a little too much batter for my liking but yeah wow very good and will be coming back! And my wife had the Cajon Bleu burger, which was very juicy and flavorful with each and every bite, and didn't shy away with the blue cheese!

Lenny D.

Yelp
Good happy hour and friendly service. Many drafts available as well as half priced apps

Yelp
This place was great! How often is it that you get to have lunch in a former church? For the moment when you pull up in your car, you think- this is going to be great! Even opening their main door and walking down the hallway into the main church area, it was so beautiful and unique. The owners preserved it where you still get the church feel but you had ample seating for people with a really cool bar area. We stopped in on a Thursday lunchtime so we were able to easily get a table. The menu was surprisingly large with more items than I thought it would have and a lot of interesting combinations. I had bbq turkey tips with sweet potato tots and french fries. She had a salad with grilled peaches and goat cheese. For dessert, we shared the brownie and ice cream sundae. All were delicious! If you're ever in the area or even close to this area, and definitely stop in to this awesome place!!!

Yelp
Do you seek....A GRAAAAAAILLL? Then you've come to the right place. Kitschy and fun, but with good food and a great selection of beers. Came across it by happen stance on our way south through NH and so glad we stopped. Bonus: the patio is dog friendly!

Yelp
So, I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. My entire family accompanied me, but they've all been here many times. The vibe is chill. The decor is different from most places. The beer menu was great - many draft options with various sizes. And, the beer came out very cold. The menu had something for everyone. Prices were very reasonable too. I had the turkey dinner and it was awesome. This might just be my new favorite place!!

Shirley V.

Yelp
Interesting atmosphere in a former church converted into an Irish pub. Server was attentive and food was served in a reasonable time. For the most part the food was good. The reuben rolls were delicious. Nice and crispy with panko topping and tender corned beef inside. The fish and chips and the cole slaw that came with them were amazing. We love that they are beer battered, not merely breaded. The corned beef and cabbage dinner was disappointing. The potatoes, carrots, turnips, and cabbage were okay but lacked flavor. The biggest disappointment was the quality of the corned beef. A generous portion was served but most of it was inedible. There was a huge amount of fat and the meat that surrounded it was so tough that it couldn't be cut with a knife. I had to pick off the few tender pieces with my fingers and most of the cut went into the trash. I would try Holy Grail again but would order something else next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm sorry...i really am but The Holy Grail was pretty disappointing to both my hubs and me. We went in on a weeknight (maybe Wednesday?) and asked for rolls & butter. What we got were a couple if blobs if dough that we're clearly microwaved. These "rolls" proved to be totally inedible. Biting into one gave me the sensation of biting into a rubber ball. For someone who is "texture sensitive", the experience was a total turn-off. My salad came and that was even worse! The greens were warm & wilted, I asked for extra dressing in the side but it was poured into the salad instead, making for a soggy, icky, inedible mess. Hub's burger wasn't any better...it was tiny and overcooked. I was stunned; we had been here before and our meal was much better (hence, the 3 stars) so I'm not sure what happened. I'm disappointed and probably will not be returning. I am sorry.

Yelp
I had the baked haddock in a wine butter sauce. Just the right amount. The haddock was delicious!! So moist and cooked to perfection. It had just the right amount of cracker topping. We had a wonderful waitress. I wish I caught her name. It is an old church converted into a restaurant & bar. They kept the natural featured of the church with the stained glass windows. Gorgeous!! We can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Good food and service, also with an amazing dining area of awesome proportions. Very helpful with my 3 year old daughter also. Foods great no complaints.

Jenn V.

Yelp
Excellent service. Great menu selection. Many options can be adapted for gluten free diets. They do not have a dedicated fryer so fries are not gf. Fun, whimsical atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

Frank P.

Yelp
Unique restaurant in a church excellent food & service features inside & outside dining. We chose outside on a beautiful weather day. I highly recommend the Holy Grail

Michael G.

Yelp
The food was excellent! Service was excellent! Ambiance amazing!! The church setting was so cool!

Butch C.

Yelp
Food was plentiful but I'd give it 5 stars out of 10. Baked stuff haddock was dry, fish and chips were way overcooked. Batter was dark dark brown. Bartender was nice, drinks were ok. We may try them again but would not recommend the fish or the fry's

Kelly S.

Yelp
This place was soooo slow. We had 2 sandwiches and a burger and we were there 21/2 hrs. The food was dry and flavorless. The staff seemed unimpressed to be alive and to have to talk to people. Overall not a good experience with zero chances of ever going back.
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed our burgers, ambiance, and service. It was clean, fun, cozy, and the food was just what we hoped it would be. Served good and hot, and it was very tasty. Great selection of beers for those who imbibe. For those who don't, service is good and refills are offered several times throughout the meal. We'll be back soon.

Yelp
Best Irish pub !!! Went in for dinner on a Saturday night. Parking lot seemed full but we were surprised when we went in it was not crowded. It was definitely busy for a Saturday night but they were very good about getting us sat within a few minutes. We asked our waitress about the parking lot and she told us there was a function going on in their "Camelot" building next door. Our waitress, Tiffany, was very knowledgeable and super friendly. We both got the fish n chips with the side order of Shepard pie and it was divine. Large beer selection and the atmosphere was super interesting. Definitely worth a visit for that alone. 10/10 we will be back, we've found the "Holy Grail"
google avatar

Yelp
Not a bad place, food is good decent beer selection and not overly expensive Definitely recommend

Highlander 1.

Yelp
BEWARE: although the food and the service are quite good, the noise is very, very loud. I have found this the few times I've been there. Last night was probably the last time I'll go until the restaurant installs noise mitigating panels to absorb sound. My recommendation: if you want a nice conversation during dinner, stay home or eat at another restaurant. (Or do take-out, the food is quite good).
google avatar

Markus W.

Yelp
Always a go to for a beer and Rueben. Excellent fries, usually the food is consistently good. Nothing over the top, but they aren't trying to be.

Michael C.

Yelp
Worst meal I have ever been served I ordered the fish and chips which if you are British or Irish means a fried filled of haddock with hot thick almost steak fries what I got was pollack fish fingers with cold McDonald's style fries if that wasn't bad enough my wife ordered a burger medium well with fries she got a burger a shade of pink I've never seen with still frozen French fries on the plate I've never in my life encountered a restaurant so bad at cooking food
google avatar

Bev A.

Yelp
I ordered the boiled plate. Corned beef with carrots, potato, turnips and cabbage. The cabbage was a bit under cooked for me. I like it soft not crunchy. Corned beef had too much fat on top. I usually skim it off when preparing at home. I might try again but they have a lot of other interesting meals I might try. My friend ordered the beef stew in a bread bowl. They said it was excellent. But we both agreed the live music was WAY TO LOUD. We were shouting at each other to be heard. When we asked the waitress about it she said it's due to it being in the old church and it vibrates. Well have them lower their amps. Not sure we will be back due to that. Not sure how often they have live music, we were there on a Friday night around 6:30. If you are looking for a quiet date night place - this isn't it unless you don't want to talk with your date. Lol

Sheila F.

Yelp
Service was great we had Sherry, appetizers were awesome chowder was amazing fish and chips were so good turkey was a lil dry but turkey can be tricky...wanted to get desserts but we were all way too full
google avatar

Deirdre S.

Yelp
Unique eatery in a converted church. Beautiful building and pretty decor. Great beer selection. The food was good but not amazing. We ordered a scotch egg that was flavorful but a bit over done. I ordered the baked haddock and really wished I'd gone with something else. That being said my side of the shepherd's pie was delicious. My husband ordered the prime rib and it was cooked to a good temp but had a huge piece of fat and was not super seasoned. All in all I would go again.
google avatar

Md Q.

Yelp
Really fun place. Great food. Such a different atmosphere was really glad we went! Bartender was very attentive.

Laura B.

Yelp
I've been to the Holy Grail twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Food and beer offerings are substantial. Even when it's been busy, the service has been good. On one of my outings, one of my party was allergic to seafood, which is a problem when food is cooked in the same oil used for fried seafood. Although we opted for an alternate to French fries, the waitress went out of her way to determine that we could have ordered the fries to be oven baked and would have taken an extra 10 minutes to get our food. We like the ambience and unusual design of the place, and I'll be back.

Joanna M.

Yelp
We had my mother's 87th birthday luncheon at this restaurant. They were very accommodating to us. I even brought a cake with me and a few folks brought it out to her for us and sang her happy birthday. Wonderful place and great food!
google avatar

Fred L.

Yelp
This place is FREEZING in the winter. I understand that the windows are historical but placing beanbags in front of them doesn't help at all. It is not ideal to have to eat with your jacket on. We typically are in here after a UNH hockey game so towards the end of the night. More potential than not I find the temperature of the food to be incorrect. Too cold, not cooked through. Soup is a perfect example of this. I find the meat that is used for the Ruben to be more salty than most places and overly fatty. I have gone to other dishes after several instances as stated above. Good late night go to place but it is not tops of my listed when variety is available during peak hours.

Johanna R.

Yelp
My family and I went in for a New Year's Eve lunch. It was sub par at best. The waitress was full of attitude and to top it off my mother's fish and chips was cold. My husband and I planned to share a bowl of seafood chowder. I took one bite and thought it was terrible and way too salty so I didn't eat anymore of it. My husband finished it. About an hour or two after returning home my husband became VIOLENTLY ILL...FOOD POISONING! He threw up consistently until 4am! We may have chalked it up as a bug but we haven't been around anyone with stories to tell such as this! DO NOT EAT THERE! It was an awful experience!!!
google avatar

Vanessa A.

Yelp
We stopped in today for a boiled dinner - $14.95 and it was enough for two adults. The cabbage is red and worth getting. Our server was very at tentative and made some suggestions. The menu has something for everyone. They do not offer bottled water.

Yelp
Headed back to Manchester airport from a couple of days in Portsmouth. We were going to eat in Portsmouth but nothing was striking our fancy. On the way back we decided to stop in Epping to see what was available. After a quick google search, we landed on Holy Grail. The place was packed & vibrant. It was tough to land on choices as the menu was fairly loaded with interesting dishes. I liked how the items were not sorted by any measure...just listed almost randomly. It made the choice adventurous. My wife had the Harvest Sauté with turkey for a protein. She said it was well prepared. Most of the items were al dente with the exception of the sweet potato which obviously needed to be cooked. She especially liked the kale preparation and the fact that everything soaked up the wonderful sauce. I stayed simple with the French Onion Soup. There was so much more to choose. The soup, though, was excellent. I was pleased with the broth and the onions were tasty.

Yelp
Great Irish food and a lot of varieties of beer on tap. There was no waiting on a Saturday night when we were there.

Yelp
First time at this establishment. Was very impressed with the renovation of an old church into an Irish pub. the theme was on point. The incorporation of the old into the new was astounding. The service was excellent, food was incredible and they made sure your drinks stayed full. Highly recommend trying this establishment.

Yelp
Really cool spot, so many options and great pub fare. A place that's worth the drive.
