Holy Monastery of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary

I really wanted to visit the Monastery of Evangelistria on Skiathos, and my wife surprise me after a nice beach day WE was in our way. The monastery is located slightly elevated in the hills of the island, surrounded by beautiful nature and forests. The drive alone is absolutely stunning and already worth the trip. As soon as you step into the courtyard, you can feel the dignified and peaceful atmosphere. Everything is well maintained, simple, and authentic — exactly how you would expect a traditional Greek monastery to be. Inside, there is also a small museum with many interesting historical and religious items. In addition, you can buy local products made on the island. We couldn’t resist and bought quite a bit of delicious honey. The view from up there over the wooded hills is truly beautiful. It’s a calm and special place — perfect to slow down for a moment and enjoy the quiet side of Skiathos.

Well worth the visit, quite close, accessible by bus from bus station 0, 1 hour us quite enough for everything, even a cup of coffee. I loved how they used a 1 leva Bulgarian coin that features saint Ivan Rilski on the museum. Very informative labels even in the shop. The small coffee nearby is also quite good and scenic.

What a place. High in the hills it was tranquil, serene , clean and green. We hired a quad to get there to add to the experience. We paid 2euros to visit the museum, it was def worth the money! The courtyard was an oasis of calm and tranquility THEN - there was the cafe ! We had brunch. It was the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten. NOTE - their card machine wasn’t working. So, if you want coffee or food take some euros

Impressive and beautiful. Exquisite gardens and views! Also don’t miss the local ahop that sells a large variety of in house produced jams, soaps, liquors as well as religious items

Well worth a visit. Such a calming atmosphere. Lovely cafe where we had fresh lemonade in the shade with a cooling breeze.

Very serene place you can feel the peace. There is also a nice café a few steps up.

This is a beautiful Monastery to visit if you want a break from the summer heat. We stayed a couple of hours which was enough to explore the buildings and have refreshments in the cafe. It was easy to get to from Skiathos Town on an air-conditioned mini bus. It didn't cost to get in the monastery but it was €2 to enter the museum. The cafe was lovely and served lots of delicious dishes and we opted for baklava, lemon cake, fresh orange juice and Greek coffee.
