"This September 5 through 8, Charlotte will host its 41st annual Yiasou Greek Festival over at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in the Dilworth neighborhood. Started in 1978, the celebration is filled with all things Hellenic: wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, traditional Greek folk dancing, art exhibits, musical performances, and more, plus a kids’ playland. One of the festival’s main draws is, of course, the food: expect all the standard Greek specialties, including dolmadas, tiropita, pastichio, souvlaki, and more."

Yasou Greek Festival is held every year near the Labor Day holiday. Four days of music, dancing, rides, fun, educational tours and cooking classes, and oh so delicious food! It always garners a huge turnout of festival-goers over the four days. The food is moderately priced and portions are plentiful. Tickets are $3/person, but many local businesses give them away to their patrons. A must do event every September!

Went to the Yiasou Greek festival. Amazing! Food was delicious, we got the Pastichio and Roast Lamb plates. Musicians were excellent and church was beautiful. Glad we went!

This year's food... gyro was pretty good. Baklava was great as always. The Greek Salad looked like a Harris Teeter bagged salad with olives and peppers thrown in. Greek salad dressing was from a commercial pack. The chicken pita was bland, soggy, and not very good. As you know the price of food everywhere is outrageous so this was not the best experience this year. Next year- maybe baklava only!

I attended the Yiasou Greek Festival and it was a cultural success! Great people, amazing food, and great demonstrations of Greek life. It was my first year attending but the event has been going on for 41 years.

Yelp
On the SURFACE it appears to be so Holy and so spiritual, but unless you are either BORN into this ethnic group, MARRY into it, OR come from the "right" socio-economic group you will NEVER really be an intricate part of this church, no matter how much you give of your time and love, etc. If you are the kind of person who just wants to experience a beautiful Liturgy in an equally beautiful setting, and either stay on the "periphery" as a former friend/present charter member told ME to do, or if you are in the right "clique" do a lot of the social things also, patting yourself on the back because you are involved in a church, then go for it. But if you are a DEEP person, looking for God, and wanting to actually BELIEVE all of the church and bible teachings and truly be part of a REAL "church family", then this place will eventually break your heart and possibly your spirit too!
