Thank you Father for giving your blessing to my Fiancé and to myself and to both of our rings. We are blessed to be part of the Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. Sincerely, Owen Alexandra

I went there for Tango dancing (Main Hall). Nice, ample space with a stage and tables and chairs to sit on. There are bathrooms and a kitchen is also available. Nice place for dancing or performances

A beautiful landmark church. Inside looks like heaven with the icons and candles. Highly recommended this neighbourhood Orthodox Church in the very heart of Mount Pleasant!

It is a large and most famous Ukrainian cultural space for meeting and communicating Ukrainian and other people , celebrating community holidays, orthodox service and singing. For your interest is the big library with Ukrainian books. Some free parking lots including the underground floor are available

A wonderful, welcoming parish with a great priest and very gentle, kind congregation. Right off main st so it’s in a super cool and accessible location too. Super lovely community, accessible services in half Ukrainian and English, and a very warm vibe in the place. Praise the lord!

Spiritual place with clean interior and nice benches, inspiring icons, bright windows and tall ceiling and welcoming people. There is a large hall attached to it with a kind of museum and a library. Unfortunately, unlike Residential heritage buildings down the hill on 11th Ave. the Holy Trinity Cathedral, which is a historic architecture in this neighbourhood, is not taken care of. Standing inside and looking up, you can tell that the original builders, with their effort did not finish painting/ornamenting the ceiling, with icons I mean, they ran out of resources perhaps. The ceiling needs to be restored, even painted with iconography to the full. Cathedral is the place of extol and praise of God Jesus Christ and it has to be beautified to the highest degree possible, including the surrounding streets, all the way to Broadway Ave and Main St intersection and beyond. The metallic roof of the Cathedral of Holy Trinity has to be washed and cared for to make it shine and stucco repaired on sides where it peeled off, rain gutters. At last new bronze toll bells should be cast and installed to match the beautiful entry door of the cathedral, which is more of a size of a gate. And the bowling/legion/pub building that was erected thereafter that extrudes a tall ugly back alley wall onto the cathedral side, should be dealt with in some way... at least cleaned and painted in Christian themed murals. God grant us these! ... Tall trees could be planted instead of the existing concrete fence to block off the back alley, as well as along the fence on the rear of the church to block off the neighbouring parking lot... Good night.

Yelp
A friend of mine gave me a heads up about this awesome experience that occurs at this church hall once a month. Ukrainian Dinners on Friday evenings was something we wanted to try so we went for it. Arriving at about 6:00pm there was a wait outside about 40 mins for our party of 5. They had these two smart young girls manning the line and setting expectations. She suggested that people be an "early bird" to avoid waiting in line next time and when the patron ahead of us asked what that meant she responded with "maybe you should set an alarm". It was great. Once you get inside they grab some menus at the podium and sit you down at a table then because we came at peak time there was a queue winding around the entire hall to pay/order and to get food for another 30 mins or so. But the food - it was so worth it! We split a Super Dinner and Borsch for two which was perfect. The food came hot and was served by a well organized group of parishioners. The perogies and cabbage rolls were yummy! It was nice to see so many people out enjoying the food on a rainy night. By 7:30pm or so the line thinned out significantly to wait for a table as well as to order food. They end service at 8pm. It was really a wonderful experience and I would love to be back and eat again. What fantastic hospitality! Note that parking in this area can be difficult as this event draws in a lot of people but be patient and keep circling till you find something!

Yelp
Once a month the Ukrainian Orthodox Church sells dinner, so this April I went here with a friend to check out the food and see how it was. And it was really good! The perogies and sausage here are tasty and well-prepared, and very affordable as well. They also sell perogies to go, as well as Ukrainian crafts and gifts; worth noting that they appear to be cash-only, but that clearly doesn't stop this from being a popular event. It's nice to see a community center providing this sort of thing to the public.

Yelp
I was in a line up for take out and it wasn't long. The line up for eat in was super long. It was worth the experience going there and the service was fast. I bought tradtional Ukranian dinner box for $10 for a take out. Portion is not big, but Perogys really filled me up. Cabbage rolls and the sausage was very good too. I don't know if I can wait for a month or so. Definetely want to go back.

Yelp
Perogies, perogies, I love perogies!! On this cool and crisp Friday night, my friend and I decide to venture out to get ourselves some authentic perogies. Arriving a bit late, there was no line up and many of th patrons were already done eating. We have never been here before, but figured that you fill out an order form, and then hand it to them. We shared the SUPER DINNER, which consists of: * 10 Pyrohy * 4 Cabbage Rolls * Sauerkraut or Salad * Ukrainian Sausage * Coffee The volunteers will scoop and plate your order, and then you can help yourself to tea, coffee, or water. We seat ourselves at one of the large round tables. Perogies were yummy, loved the filling! Cabbage rolls were also good, lots of flavourful rice in the filling. These dinners, made with love and hard work are simply awesome!!

Yelp
I fear that god many strike me down for my 2 star review! :) Being half -Uke, I have high standards for my pyrohy ('rogies)and holubtsi (cabbage rolls). When I heard that little old babas were in charge of making a big Ukrainian dinner once a month I was shouting "Hallelujah!" We headed to the church and lined up outside, and then again inside (budget about 45min -1hour for this process). The first thing I noticed was that the prices were steep - 12 dollars for a Vegetarian plate? Thems restaurant prices. I understand that they are a charity, but this was the most expensive I have ever seen a church supper. Then came the chit system. We tried to save paper by only using one, but we were rebuffed and scolded as the cashier rolled her eyes at my pleas to save paper and filled out a separate form for each of us. :( Next up, the towering stacks of paper plates - everything disposable. Eek! I asked if I could use my own container and was told "No, that would mess up our system." Hm. Paper plates are kind of messing up OUR system - like, the planet? Last, and certainly least - the food. Bland, doughy perogies. A big glob of sour cream (not really Ukrainian). The most flavourless cabbage rolls on the planet, filled with gloppy rice and NO sour flavour at all. Caesar salad? C'mon. This is NOT what Ukes eat. I felt ashamed for them. I understand that the assembly line makes things pretty rigid, and I know from experience that making perogies for 1000s is a huge chore, but a little salt and pepper and love into the food would be appreciated. I have never once eaten anything that tasted like this made by Ukrainian hands. Step up your game, babas. For 12 bucks I want something that is "duzhe dobre!" (Very good!)

Yelp
This is SOOO UNIQUE!.. at least I think so! I was told that there would be a lineup.. and it only happens once a month.. so I'm telling you - do not come starving because you may have to bail before you get in... or come early. Every first Friday at the HTUKC, there is a perogy dinner from 5pm to 8pm. volunteers spend their day making perogies and cabbage rollls, raising funds for the church. I arrive with my friends just after 6:30.. the line up is out the door... and about 15 - 20 minutes later I make it in.......... the church hall is smaller than I thought... the process if pretty efficient. One of the volunteers will give you placemats and direct you to an open table for your party. You can pick up an order form on the table and line up (this time for the food)... trust me.. it's another 20 - 30 minute wait. during that time.. you can decide what type of meal you would like: Regular dinner - 6 perogies, 2 cabbage rolls, ukrainian sausage, saukerkraut or salad Super dinner: 10 Perofies, 4 cabbage rollsm ukrainian sasuage, S or S Mini dinner: 4 perogies, 1 cabbage, sausage, salad only Dinner range from 8 - 15 dollars there is borscht and dessert to add on. All dinners come with tea or coffee. I thought everything was super tasty.. never thought I'd like the cabbage rolls but they were great. Lots of sautted onions and sour cream to top it off. It's listed as one of Vancouver's 101 Best Eats! I don't know if it's one of the best things to eat.. but it's definitely one of the best experiences ever!

Yelp
The 5 stars are for the full experience, although the food is dang tasty, too. On the first Friday of every month, church ladies make thousands of perogies and a full perogie dinner -- with saurkraut, sausages, and cabbage rolls. You go in with a big group of friends, decide whether you want a mini or the max meal, pay around $10 give or take, and sit down in a big auditorium at tables scattered throughout the space. The full meal includes coffee/tea and a dessert, too.

Yelp
I've noticed that the quality of the food at the Friday night suppers here is much better at the beginning of the night or on slower nights. For example, the first time I went I wasn't impressed with the texture or flavour of the cabbage rolls or the perogies. It was also really busy that night and the church folk were scrambling to serve everyone in a timely fashion. The second time I went in July 2014 it was much slower (it was raining out) and the texture and flavour of everything was so much more impressive. I think that with less folks to serve, the food got cooked more evenly and the flavour was left intact. I suggest always getting the sauerkraut rather than the green salad when given the option. Also, don't forget the condiment table -- that's where you can get mustard for your sausage.

Yelp
I came. I stood in line. I stood in line again. I stuffed. and I rolled. Definitely a worthwhile experience and lots of fun; a great Friday night venue to meet other random diners. As other posters have noted: be prepared to line up to get in. And then again to get your food. Don't come hungry! My friend and I split the $14 Super Dinner: 10 Perogies, Saurkraut, 4 cabbage rolls, 1 sausage and a cup of coffee/tea - a good deal for $7 each. But to be honest, whilst I can appreciate handmade perogies (the TLC and sweat that's poured into them), I thought they tasted bland and too doughy. I prefer my perogies sauteed to a nice golden crust on the outside. The cabbage rolls were delicious and saurkraut was milder than what I'm used to. Next time, I'll BYO my own hot sauce or Oddball Organics Smoked Chipotle Garlic salt to kick it up a flavour notch!

Yelp
Handmade perogies oma style. Okay cabbage rolls. Tasty Ukranian sausage. Big portions. Once a month. Discouragingly long line-ups. Worth your while. Sorry about the primitive talk. Just thinking about all that meat and potatoes makes me lose words.

Yelp
Fun, but disappointing. We arrived about 6.30pm on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised by the short queue to get in, and a friendly greeting... but once we were in it was another 30 minutes or so until we actually got our food. I went for the Borsch ($3.50) followed by the Pyrohy dinner ($12 for 6 perogies, 2 cabbage rolls, Sauerkraut, a small piece of Ukranian sausage and a coffee). The Borsch was fine, but pretty much cold by the time I got it to the table and not exactly filled with flavour. The meal was better, but again suffered from being cold and a bit bland. Annoying, because it was so nearly great - the perogies and cabbage rolls were better textured and much lighter than I've had before. A bit more attention to seasoning and more effective hot plates would have made this a three or four star review. Worth trying at least once for the experience, but could be so much better.

Yelp
Who doesn't love perogies hand-made by church ladies??? Be careful, because they are filling!!! We got there early and were close to the front of the line, so there was no doubt we were getting our hands on some of this goodness. I wouldn't get the dessert, since it seems like it's just a store-bought cake. But everything else was delicious!!

Yelp
Eat In or take out. Cafeteria style. Long line up when you eat in but worth the wait! They only take cash.

Yelp
Vegetarian cabbage rolls, nom nom. Thank goodness this dinner is only once a month or else I would have a serious weight problem because I can't get enough of this food! It's worth the long queue but do try to get there early if you can, it is a dinner experience like no other in the city. The only downside is that they don't have a liquor licence, if they did, then this place would truly be heavenly. The price is right, the portions are huge and every time I leave, I practically roll home and all for the low, low price of 12$!

Yelp
My mouth has never watered so much just smelling the food! DELICIOUS and authentic Ukrainian food. Must try!
