After a ski accident (15 jan), I asked the hotel staff for help. They were extremely friendly and helpful, providing everything I needed to clean myself up. They checked on me several times to make sure I was okay, which I really appreciated. I was able to relax with a drink on the terrace, which has a great atmosphere.

We had a pleasant stay overall, especially thanks to the comfortable atmosphere of the hotel. The room was nice and comfortable, creating a relaxing environment after a day outdoors. The spa was really cool, with a beautiful view.|The location is excellent, right next to the ski slopes, which is extremely convenient. Breakfast was great, offering a large variety and good quality. We also enjoyed the 3 PM snacks, which were very good.|A shuttle service is available to take guests to the village, which we appreciated. The reception team was friendly, and honestly, the entire staff was very welcoming and kind throughout our stay, great service and hospitality.||A few points could still be improved. The pool was too cold, and since it is outside, it would be much nicer if the temperature was warmer for better comfort. Dinner lacked flavor and taste, although we appreciated the wide range of vegan options, which is a positive aspect.|It felt a bit contradictory that the hotel promotes nature values, yet organized fireworks on New Year Eve next to a forest, surprising given the environmental message.|Room daily cleaning was disappointing, especially for a hotel of this standard.|Overall, a lovely hotel with great location and friendly staff, but improvements in the pool temperature and cleaning service would make the experience even better.|

This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with hotel staff. I don’t even know where to start. Apart from the fact that we were always served last at the restaurant table for some unknown reason, it began when we received a different locker key from the ski equipment storage locker, with the explanation that the previous guests had lost the one for our room. When we first returned from skiing, our items left in the locker were out in the room, and the locker was full of someone else’s things. The receptionist took out the foreign items, we put our own things in, and she said she’d contact the owner— to which I objected that it was nice but we weren’t the only ones with access to the locker, it was unpleasant, and what if something got lost? She ended it with “we are here.” When we wanted to visit the romantic rooftop tub—a service the hotel offers, which I’d reserved via email two weeks in advance along with a couples’ massage the next morning—both were confirmed. Upon arrival for the tub reservation, everything seemed fine at first glance. When I asked about the bubbles, we were told it was too cold and the water wouldn’t flow, so they had to fill the tub externally. Okay. We couldn’t even get in because it was filled with boiling water. We went inside to wait in the wellness area and informed the staff. After twenty minutes, we at least opened the champagne—which, by the way, was 375ml, so one large glass each. The “fruit platter” consisted of an old pear and a mandarin. After about 40 minutes of dealing with the staff, the lady laughed in our faces, saying, “You still have time, don’t you?” and then argued they hadn’t had enough time to prepare it because she’d had massages before (???). Then the wellness staff left us there. We walked away. Hardly anyone apologized, and reception didn’t even believe us—they went to check the water temperature. Once confirmed, they just let it be, with no apology or compensation discussion. We also addressed the next day’s massage, as we didn’t want the same wellness lady massaging us, and were told we’d sort it in the morning. After breakfast, when we inquired, we were told there was no reservation. At that point, I wanted to speak to the manager. She said she was sorry and apologized, but offered no compensation. She said she’d find another slot for the massage—nothing since, and we never got the massage during our stay. These are just the biggest blunders; there were many more. In the restaurant, they claimed I couldn’t have a glass of prosecco, but they made me a drink containing prosecco. In the spa, I wanted to join a meditation, but the yoga leader didn’t bother to pause and let others in. About five of us waited outside the room—we all left. There was really a lot more.. At checkout, no one mentioned any of it. We wanted one last drink before leaving, and mine was full of tiny flies. We’ll never return to this hotel.

Our stay at Holzhotel Forsthofalm was a bit of a mixed experience. The location is truly outstanding: directly on the slope with breathtaking mountain views and wonderfully quiet surroundings. The hotel itself looks and feels premium at first glance, with a stylish design and the upscale atmosphere it aims to convey. However, the “premium experience” started to fade in the details and this is where the price did not fully meet my expectations. We arrived in the morning before check-in to pick up ski passes and hit the slopes. When we returned at 3pm, our ski locker key wasn’t ready because previous guests hadn’t returned it. After leaving our skis outside and checking back multiple times, we only received the key around 6pm. At this price level, waiting hours just to store your ski equipment feels inconvenient and not in line with the service expectations. The room itself was clean, nicely designed, and very cozy overall - though upon arrival it wasn’t exactly welcoming, as the balcony door had been left wide open. Fortunately, it heated up quickly. The restaurant experience was decent but didn’t quite match the hotel’s upscale positioning. The waiter didn’t know what dish he was serving, despite it being a fixed menu and the dip served with the cover was already dried on the surface. The dinner itself was what I would call solid, but nothing particularly memorable or special in terms of taste. On a side note: I usually wouldn't care, but if you ask your guests to show up in casual chic for dinner, I don't want to have people in their ski wear sitting next to me. Just forget about the dress code, it really doesn't add anything. Another odd point was the “adults-only” concept. During our stay, the outdoor spa pool was packed with teenagers playing loudly and throwing balls around. The noise seemed to continue late into the night in nearby rooms. While this is partly a guest behavior issue, it does raise questions about how strictly the hotel enforces its own concept. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay thanks to the fantastic location and beautiful setting. But considering the high price level, the service inconsistencies and small operational issues make it difficult to say the experience fully justified the cost and the hotel definitely does not exploit its full potential.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Forsthofalm – a truly magical place where nature, architecture, and hospitality blend in the most unique way. The fact that it’s a full wood hotel, built from moonwood, gives it an incredible atmosphere of warmth and authenticity. You feel connected to the mountains the moment you arrive. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highlights for me were the breathtaking views, the excellent food, the spa area, and of course the rooftop pool – an absolute dream to swim in with such a panorama. If I could wish for one tiny detail, it would be to have the water just 2°C warmer, but that’s really just a personal preference. The only small note is about the room: since we were traveling with our dogs, we didn’t have access to what I personally think are the most spectacular rooms. That’s totally understandable, but for fellow dog owners it might be worth knowing in advance – if you want to experience those incredible rooms, you may want to leave the dogs at home just for this stay. For us, it didn’t diminish the experience at all – we felt completely at home and enjoyed every single moment. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 All in all, Forsthofalm is a unique mountain hideaway where you recharge, reconnect, and feel inspired. We’ll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was very disappointing, especially given that it was Christmas Day and we were expecting a calm and respectful stay. the owner informed us that our dog had urinated in front of the reception area while being taken outside. We immediately apologized and accepted responsibility. However, despite this, the owner and his girlfriend approached us two additional times, in front of other guests, to repeat the same complaint. This felt unnecessary and unprofessional. The girlfriend’s behavior in particular was inappropriate, as she was laughing and speaking ironically toward us, which made the situation uncomfortable and disrespectful. The hotel is not pet-friendly because as paying guests we expected to be treated with courtesy. Unfortunately, this was not the case. In addition, room service arrived very late in the afternoon to clean the room, and the spa package was not clearly explained. When I requested the bill, there was once again a “technical problem,” the second such issue in two days. Most disappointingly, we were not allowed to attend the Christmas dinner and I also overheard the owner and his girlfriend speaking negatively about my family, apparently assuming that I do not understand German, which was extremely upsetting. I chose this hotel hoping to spend a quiet and relaxing Christmas away from my busy life in Vienna. Instead, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I would not recommend this hotel, as there are many better options in the area, including places that are more respectful toward guests traveling with pets, with much better prices and quality and most important friendly owners! The food was another major disappointment. The quality did not justify the prices charged, which were excessively high for what was offered. The dishes lacked flavor and appeared poorly prepared, giving the impression of mass catering rather than a festive Christmas Eve meal. Overall, the dining experience was far below the standard one would expect for the price level of this hotel. (Moreover, my mom suggested to clean the reception and the tragic was that the owner was thinking to say yes)

4th June 2025||Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our stay at Forsthofalm hotel at all.||The hotel is situated in rather secluded area however it appears dark and depressive in our bedroom, dining room and reception. There is no fridge, water or kettle to make drinks.||The cable car passes next to hotel however bizarrely there is access at this level.||We never felt welcomed or cared; some of dining room staff members were simply ignorant and arrogant, whilst others were just too afraid to complain ||I have stayed many 4 star hotels in Austria however I have never come across such poor quality and so little food anywhere else. We were served grilled Chicken that was too dry and hard to cut with knife, sushi was undercooked and inedible, Salman was almost absent in ceviche was covered with radish. Our grilled vegetables were dripping with oil and over cooked.||The owner lives in the hotel and consumes same food however he has chosen to ignore it. Owner’s sister also noticed rather hard, fried Tofu and kindly brought some replacement. ||Ashok Tandon

Our stay was nothing short of phenomenal. The location is wonderfully secluded, you feel like you are in your own oasis! The rooms were spacious and we loved the natural materials and organic soaps. Dori made us feel welcome even before we arrived. Kitti went above and beyond, translating to English where necessary and being very attentive to us and our allergies during meals. The food and cocktails were phenomenal, with an abundance of vegan options. We were never left hungry! The sauna and spa facilities were top notch and the views were stunning! Would go back in a heart beat!
