Holzhotel Forsthofalm

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Forsthofalm – a truly magical place where nature, architecture, and hospitality blend in the most unique way. The fact that it’s a full wood hotel, built from moonwood, gives it an incredible atmosphere of warmth and authenticity. You feel connected to the mountains the moment you arrive. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highlights for me were the breathtaking views, the excellent food, the spa area, and of course the rooftop pool – an absolute dream to swim in with such a panorama. If I could wish for one tiny detail, it would be to have the water just 2°C warmer, but that’s really just a personal preference. The only small note is about the room: since we were traveling with our dogs, we didn’t have access to what I personally think are the most spectacular rooms. That’s totally understandable, but for fellow dog owners it might be worth knowing in advance – if you want to experience those incredible rooms, you may want to leave the dogs at home just for this stay. For us, it didn’t diminish the experience at all – we felt completely at home and enjoyed every single moment. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 All in all, Forsthofalm is a unique mountain hideaway where you recharge, reconnect, and feel inspired. We’ll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was very disappointing, especially given that it was Christmas Day and we were expecting a calm and respectful stay. the owner informed us that our dog had urinated in front of the reception area while being taken outside. We immediately apologized and accepted responsibility. However, despite this, the owner and his girlfriend approached us two additional times, in front of other guests, to repeat the same complaint. This felt unnecessary and unprofessional. The girlfriend’s behavior in particular was inappropriate, as she was laughing and speaking ironically toward us, which made the situation uncomfortable and disrespectful. The hotel is not pet-friendly because as paying guests we expected to be treated with courtesy. Unfortunately, this was not the case. In addition, room service arrived very late in the afternoon to clean the room, and the spa package was not clearly explained. When I requested the bill, there was once again a “technical problem,” the second such issue in two days. Most disappointingly, we were not allowed to attend the Christmas dinner and I also overheard the owner and his girlfriend speaking negatively about my family, apparently assuming that I do not understand German, which was extremely upsetting. I chose this hotel hoping to spend a quiet and relaxing Christmas away from my busy life in Vienna. Instead, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I would not recommend this hotel, as there are many better options in the area, including places that are more respectful toward guests traveling with pets, with much better prices and quality and most important friendly owners! The food was another major disappointment. The quality did not justify the prices charged, which were excessively high for what was offered. The dishes lacked flavor and appeared poorly prepared, giving the impression of mass catering rather than a festive Christmas Eve meal. Overall, the dining experience was far below the standard one would expect for the price level of this hotel. (Moreover, my mom suggested to clean the reception and the tragic was that the owner was thinking to say yes)

Perfect place and location for enjoy a break. Great spa facilities and pool. Staff professional and helpful, enjoy a lot the cuisine (especially vegan options)!

Perfect location in the middle of the hill. Located at the bike park trail and also for hiking, very nice path to Mittlestation. They have bikes for rental at the hotel and all gear for bike park.|Good selection of food, many gluten free and vegan options, meat and fish is prepared in the open grill. For dinner, you can switch main dish for another meat from the menu, but you have to pay extra, so it make more sense to order additionally to the classic menu. But you have to wait a lot, for dinner take at least two hours. Waiters are very fast, especially one lady, everyone is very friendly, but it seems not enough people are working there. Hotel was completely full when we stayed. They organize thematic evenigns, DJ etc..|Very nice smell in sauna, relaxing, multiple yoga and meditation classes per day.|Not everything is super clean what is expected from 4* hotel.|Hotel has really good potential to be top hotel, but some improvements are expected for that price.

We originally planned to stay for 6 nights but cut our trip short after spending 3 nights at the hotel. Sadly we never felt very welcome or cared-for. Some of the staff were professional and helpful while others openly displayed a "your problem - not mine" attitude or appeared to just be waiting for the end of their shift. There are not enough seats/loungers in the Spa, so if you go there in the afternoon, you might be out of luck and have to stand or go back to your room. The free choice of seating during dinner was messy, fixed seating would have been a wiser choice in my opinion. The location itself is beautiful, sadly the snow guns of the adjacent ski resort were running 24/7 and made for restless nights.

We spent here one weekend and it was really great experience. The hotel is located in the beautiful environment of Alps. Hotel is build from wood, well equipped nice rooms and restaurant. The pool on the roof is amazing and you can have from it excellent view. Quality of food is great , almost everything is bio and natural. The service is polite helpful and professional. I like hotels where you can feel as at home and Holzhotel Forsthofalm is like home. Thank you to whole staff for their hospitality.

Practicing yoga with Ikram at Forthofalm has been an incredibly enriching and grounding experience. Ikram brings such warmth, presence, and deep knowledge to every session, creating a safe and peaceful space where both body and mind can truly unwind and grow. Her teaching style is intuitive, gentle, and full of intention. She guides each class with a perfect balance of strength and softness, always offering thoughtful variations and personal attention to meet everyone’s needs. With her, yoga becomes more than just movement – it becomes a journey inward. The serene setting of Forthofalm, combined with Ikram’s calm energy and wisdom, makes every class something I look forward to deeply. I always leave feeling refreshed, centered, and more connected to myself. Thank you, Ikram, for your inspiration and guidance – I couldn’t recommend you more highly!

4th June 2025||Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our stay at Forsthofalm hotel at all.||The hotel is situated in rather secluded area however it appears dark and depressive in our bedroom, dining room and reception. There is no fridge, water or kettle to make drinks.||The cable car passes next to hotel however bizarrely there is access at this level.||We never felt welcomed or cared; some of dining room staff members were simply ignorant and arrogant, whilst others were just too afraid to complain ||I have stayed many 4 star hotels in Austria however I have never come across such poor quality and so little food anywhere else. We were served grilled Chicken that was too dry and hard to cut with knife, sushi was undercooked and inedible, Salman was almost absent in ceviche was covered with radish. Our grilled vegetables were dripping with oil and over cooked.||The owner lives in the hotel and consumes same food however he has chosen to ignore it. Owner’s sister also noticed rather hard, fried Tofu and kindly brought some replacement. ||Ashok Tandon
