What an amazing mom and pop restaurant. I came here for lunch, and I had the char grilled pork chops with mashed potatoes and green beans. I also had chicken soup. Everything was spot on. Pork chops were seasoned perfectly, and the mashed potatoes were excellent. The soup was very good and flavorful. My server was very attentive to me and very efficient she was there to ask if I needed a refill on my drink. I found this place laid back and pleasant. I will be coming back again.

Google recommended we come here and it wasn't wrong. We were staying at a local hotel. This is definitely a neighborhood restaurant with regulars. I had the grilled chicken salad and it was wonderful, my husband had the diet plate with chicken salad and he loved every bite. The service was outstanding and they know how to treat people right.

Had breakfast. Haven’t been here in years. Everything was hot, fresh, and cooked correctly. Corned beef hash, eggs, potatoes, and toast. All delicious. Friendly, fast service even though they were busy. We won’t wait years to come back!

I stopped for lunch and was seated right away. My server came right over and took my order, I went with the Hot Turkey sandwich. After a short wait, she came back with my meal. The Turkey looked home-cooked, thick sliced and tasty. After trying it, I noticed the Turkey was on the dry side, but the gravy helped with that. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy and good with the gravy. Overall, this is the type of place I like to eat at, and I will be back.

Friendly staff,seem clean, prices were okay, food wasn't homemade, our soup was room temperature seem from a can had process cubes of beef, roast beef seem freezer burnt and old,as aujus as well. Sweet Pototoes fries were good,Had the Monte cistro sandwich as well Was hot and freshly grilled, good size sandwich full of ham and cheese.

Fantastic little place. We go here for my wife to get the Hawaiian omelet. Her absolute favorite. I have tried many items. Good quality food and super nice wait staff.

It was a little packed, but there was still places to sit. The julienne salad I ordered was big enough for two. My husband ordered a burger. We had a very pleasant time. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Not sure what seasoning they use in the brown gravy but it tastes really odd. The shrimp scampi had way too much onion and garlic in it. Didn't finish either meal. Service was very good .. reason for 3 stars and not 1.

Hometown corner restaurant offering traditional Midwest fare. Breakfast and lunch specials are available, but you can also order meals. I ordered a pork fritter meal with sweet potato fries and a tossed salad. This meal comes with a dessert choice of ice cream ( chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry) or rice pudding. The food was freshly prepared and had a nice flavor. Be aware that if you are not a regular, they may give you the side eye.

Came here and had breakfast. It was delicious and staff was friendly and food was great! Will definitely be back when in the area.

My wife and I were looking forward to try this place out since it's close by , sadly there were a couple issues . Besides charging 3 bucks for 3 strips of bacon . The biscuits were from a can so was the gravy . Also the omelette I ordered had a couple hairs on it . Mentioned inside if the restaurant is crazyly crowded with tables and chairs so noone actually can get anywhere . I was hoping to have a good experience but it didn't really happen . My omlette wasn't all bad so I gave it a 2 star. I am definitely disappointed and I won't be back

This place was really good. W had lunch. Typical diner decor, although at the end of a strip mall. We happened to see the sign by the road, looking always for local owned restaurant, bingo. The tenderloin sandwich was very good. Not a frozen patty for sure. It remind me of Indiana tenderloins. Service was great, everyone was very friendly. I will stop here again if I am ever in the area

The food is great with large portion sizes for the price. The wait staff is top tier and always nearby for whatever you may need.

Past couple of times I have been in at dinner time I have been dissapointed. Taco salad in the shell and the shell tasted of freezer burn. Tonight my liver was burnt. Service was friendly but slow. I will try breakfast again before I give up on this place. New picture of liver posted.

Delightful. We came here after pretty shabby treatment by another local restaurant. The folks here could not have been nicer and the food was great.

Ate at this restaurant on July 8th for lunch. Had the goulash and it wasn't good. Also, I swallowed something in the goulash that wasn't normal. I choked, coughed, and finally expelled a bay leaf. It felt like glass cutting my throat! Do not eat at the establishment!! Consumers beware!!!!

This place is the kind of place you want to go to to have a cup of coffee and talk to locals. It's not the cleanest of places, but the service is friendly. The food is also good. Nothing gourmet by a long way, but it will fill your belly for less money than most places around.

What's an Asian guy doing in Niles? No, I don't work at Happy House or Great Wall. I married into the Michiana area. Niles is home of the wife. So I'm in Niles twice a year and the in-laws like Home Plate. Why do they like it? Probably because it has a broad choice of food for anyone and everyone. It's like an IHOP, but I think Home Plate is cleaner and the waitstaff is 10 times more awake at the least. The last time I went, I got the Gyro sandwich with American Fries. Let's stop here for a moment. What exactly are American fries? I'm from America. I was born in Texas. I've heard of french fries and steak fries, small fries and curly fries, seasoned fries and shoestring fries. American fries? Never heard of them, so I just assumed they'd be another fry to the tune of "Freedom" fries. I was wrong, oh so wrong. American Fries are like hashed browns. So the Gyro sandwich was.. okay. The pancakes were average. Oh, and the american fries? They were okay for hashed browns, but I was expecting freedom fries. I guess the saying, "Expect the worst and never be disappointed" applies here. The service is above average and that's even serving a table of 7 of us. The waiter was attentive and quick to return with refills and condiments. They may not have hit a home run, but as with any base hit, you're always looking for Home Plate. PLAY BALL!

My family and I went here for an early dinner. The food was cold it was not very good. The service was super slow. I have two very small grandchildren they shared a children's meal they charged us a dollar for an extra plate. This server didn't know the price of a dinner item and charged me the wrong price. The bathrooms were very dirty.. I do not recommend this restaurant.

The worst service I have ever had!! Food took forever and was cold by the time we got it. Waitress was rude and offensive giggling and laughing about customers behind the counter.. very unprofessional! Will never go back!!

We've been eating at this restaurant on and off for about 10 years. They're located in a small plaza on 11th street (US933), which also houses a Martins grocery store and a handful of other small businesses. Prices and food quality have remained fairly constant over the years, though I think they do serve better lunch and dinner items than breakfast, which is generally not the case with most restaurants. Hard to mess up breakfast, but their pancakes are a bit "wheaty" (hard to find good pancakes anyplace here!) and their omelets seem to be assembled by someone who doesn't actually eat them, if that makes any sense. Lunch and dinner items though are good, and typical for a sit-down, medium priced restaurant. Club sandwiches, beef and mashed potatoes, salads, and I believe they also have a fish fry every Friday evening. Management of the restaurant seems to have changed hands a few times over the years and it's beginning to look a bit threadbare inside. I've noticed some businesses, specifically hotels, follow a pattern from the time they open to when they fail wherein they start changing hands, maintenance/upkeep falls off, they hire a lot of cheap labor, and eventually the place hits critical mass. Based on this model I'd have to say that they've got about 4-5 years left unless they do some serious revamping, and maybe restaff the place. IMO. All in all though not a bad place to eat. Recommend.

Customer for more years that I can recall - at least 20. I go here about once a week. Over the last several months the food quality has gone down hill. Used to have great waitresses and a few are still there. Went two days ago. Husband ordered soup and grilled cheese. Sandwich came and the cheese was not even melted, which he stated while waitress was still at the table. She walked away and I said something as she walked back by about it being inedible. She said, well I can take it back. My husband said no and she walked away and never saw her again. I ordered the hot turkey which has been a favorite for me. I ate THREE bites of the turkey and couldn't continue. It was just awful. Fries were good and that is about it. I asked the person at cashier is there was a new owner or management. She said, hmmm, that's a really good question. Seriously?

Me and my husband ordered the steaks and eggs. We asked for rare steak and over easy eggs. The steak was well well done and the egg yolks were totally cooked. The waitress never asked if everything was ok or if food was ok. It only took 6 minutes for our food and wasnt even right. Will not be returning

Great prices. Great food. Had the egg mess, home plate, chocolate pancakes, biscuits and gravy.

Don't go to this restaurant if you want, and are used to good food! No one at our table of 5 liked any of their meals. The food was substandard, tasteless and over priced for the junk that was served to us. This restaurant seems to cater to folks who aren't used to having good food...and the price is the main consideration. Yes, it's cheap, but if you pay a couple of dollars more for your meal, you can eat anywhere else and have good food. Yuck...never again!
