Good and Bad. I am a member for about 10 years and I did about 140 exchanges. Through the site, I knew excellent members who became my regular exchange partners. I visited many cities: NYC, LA, Sydney, London, the lake district, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Paris, Mont Saint-Michel, Tokyo, Kyoto, Barcelona, Basque Country, Budapest, Florence, Venice, Rome, Barolo, Milan, Vancouver, Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden etc.
One reciprocal but not simultaneous exchange couple who stayed in my apartment for one week disappeared after their stay and I could not stay in their house. As the exchange partner changed their mobile number and email address, the support team could not help me to cover my missed stay. We had no compensation or additional support by Home Exchange.
I had some serious house structure damages by Home Exchange guests. All damage cases, I had to close my second houses for one-two months to repair the damage. The last damage was made during my 2 weeks exchange abroad and I had to go back home immediately. The damage coverage is only for the damage and does not cover consequence costs (my going back flight, following reservation cancellations, my extra stay in hotels etc).
For the damage refund requests, it is necessary to send to Home Exchange pictures or video of the damaged item / parts before and after guests' stay. I was wondering who take pictures of every detail of the own house every time he welcomes new guests.
