I recently moved to the neighborhood so I got lunch, to go, twice now. The first day I ordered the smoked pastrami sandwich. The quality and quantity was really good. It was filling, tasty and definitely something I recommend. My wife got the macha bowl which was also pretty great. The protein portion was good and I really loved the freshness. The next day I got a chicken pesto sandwich which was also very tasty. The chicken pesto in the sandwich was very tasty and flavorful. I also took a side salad.

I ordered the Sonoran Grass fedd steak bowl to-go and the greens at the bottom were slimy and yellow and inedible! 😡 The steak also tasted bad. This is not the first time they have screwed up my order. They forgot to add chicken one time and keep forgetting to add utensils in the bag. This time was by far the worst. Had to toss it and I’m out $20

Google
I’m gonna give this place 3 stars. Why? Not because the way they treated me with respect and kindness. No. Not because the $20 sandwich, either. No. But, for the simple fact that they DON’T ACCEPT CASH!!! Amazing breakfast sandwich, of course. Was it worth $19? Maybe not, but it’s well known that these places have high operational costs and thus, need to charge high to make ends meet. Again, no biggie there. This “no cash, electric payment only” has got to stop. At this rate, we’re not going to have any business left, when you decide to not accept paper money. Get your head outta the sand guys!

Google
Had the pesto chicken sandwich with Kettle chips, a pickle and cup of tea. Bit pricey ($20 not including tip) for a counter-served lunch. The sandwich was great. Wouldn't change a thing about it. Pickle was huge, but sweet and very vinagery. I prefer a dill pickle with a sandwich so wasn't a big fan. Kettle brand chips are exactly what you expect. Staff were very friendly. The main cashier guy went out of his way to be helpful and personable even after I ordered and paid. I'd eat here again, but skip the pickle and maybe try a soup or salad as a side.

I want to say thank you to Cathy! She provides the best service!!! Homegrown is one of my favorite salad place. I always ordered from the Capitol Hill one and they have default to dressing on the side. This is my first time ordering here but they have dressing mixed in. I was soooo hungry and when I saw the dressing mixed in, I wanted to cry because that is way too oily for me. I came back to the store and someone told me I have to specifically mention that I want the dressing on the side. I was thinking I’ll never order from here anymore. I wanted to cry. BUT‼️ Cathy came out and said she want me to satisfy and she can make one for me!!! OMG The best service!!!! Thank you Cathy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My wife bought food from this branch. A cockroach crawled out of the sandwich. Utterly disgusted. My wife and I have to go for a check up now because my stomach has been feeling upset. Attached pics, with the cockroach crawling out from the middle and going to the bottom of the sandwich.

Google
The chicken pesto was great but they went way too heavy on the sauce (made of unnecessarily messy and didn’t contribute further to the overall flavor/taste). The portions are generous and the food was prepared relatively quickly considering how packed it was. The servers were obviously stressed out because they weren’t friendly but it’s almost understandable considering the staff shortages across the country. Biggest complaint would be the lack of sitting space but our family of 4 just ate across the street so it wasn’t too bad. Would recommend for singletons as it wasn’t very family friendly.

Google
Great atmosphere for a quick bite or rest. Everything is good. Worth stopping by if you haven't. Seattle area pricing, so expect about $16 for a sandwich and drink.

Yelp
I picked up a sandwich and bowl after a long day of moving and was so pleasantly surprised! The staff were kind and very helpful- I placed my order online and arrived about 15 minutes early, they were willing to fit me in and started cooking my food right when I got there so it was ready in about 5 minutes. Really appreciated the flexibility! There were also a couple more instances of them just being generally helpful and kind while I was there. I got the chicken pesto sandwich and the matcha chicken avocado bowl, both were excellent and I was impressed at how fresh the ingredients were. This place is pricy and I wouldn't go everyday, but I do feel the quality and quality of ingredients was worth the value. The chicken pesto sandwich was incredible- loaded with chicken and the aioli was so good. The matcha dressing on the bowl was also super unique and tasty, and I loved the warm grains which make a typical salad a little more hearty.

Yelp
Very good sandwich place. Just the perfect toasted-ness to the bread and the fillings were perfectly seasoned. I had the avocado egg sandwich with some bacon, and couldn't have had a better meal. I wished they were more dine-in cafe, but I understand that not having plates or utensils to maintain makes the business more efficient. Overall a strong recommendation if anyone is in Queen Anne.

Yelp
I got the broccoli melt. It was pretty yummy tastewise and the ingredients were fresh. Just wish there were less leaves & more "stuff". Really yummy though!!

Yelp
This place was great! I got the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich which was delicious. The bread was amazing and fresh. I also got a cookie which was tasty. My friends got bowls, I don't remember which ones, but really enjoyed them as well. The staff was friendly and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Yelp
Matcha Chicken Avocado Bowl - sent from heaven to melt in your mouth with crunch. I don't remember the last time I was so happy eating a salad bowl. Regular to this location of Queen Ann - breakfast amazing, sandwiches amazing and now this bowl. It is hard to find something here which will disappoint you. Perfect environment caring ambience, service is superb considering they are so busy. Farm to table - stomach to heart!

Yelp
Good bread is what makes a sandwich and I wish I could take a nap on their bread. It's soft and crunch in all the right places. It's a little expensive but the service is quick and the food is tasty,

Yelp
Great sandwich shop in the very hip Capitol Hill neighborhood. Highly recommend the Turkey and pastrami sandwiches. Great bread and even though I didn't get a cookie I was very tempted!

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. We often get stuck at work for 18+ hour shifts and order food together. We were looking for something new and one of my coworkers recommended this place. I ordered the egg bowl, with soft eggs. I always understand delivered food may not come quite as it left the store. However, I'm pretty sure the time it took to get here couldn't account for this. The potatoes which look good in photos are really dry, to the point where they crumbled. The soft eggs were cooked hard. The bacon was super soft(I know some people prefer this), I do not. The chermoula aioli wasn't what I was expecting but it was ok. The greens were fine, nothing spectacular. The onions were probably the best part of the bowl and cooked as I would have anticipated. I don't think I'll be coming back here, but it has potential if they are more careful with how they cook their ingredients.

Yelp
The service was good the price of a cup of coffee was under $4.00 which is less than many places charge for coffee.
google avatar

Marie R.

Yelp
This is a cool place for lunch. I got the chicken avocado salad with the egg avocado sandwich. The salad was sufficiently flavorful yet healthy and light. The sandwich was also good, but I wish it had a bit more flavor. Maybe next time, I'll add bacon or some sauce to give it some oomph. A little pricey but not too bad for a quick and healthy lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Disappointed to see that self-service ordering is now required in-store. But the prices do not reflect that customers are doing their work. $16 for a sandwich plus tax and tip (what for?) add up to more than $20. Nope!

Yelp
They've changed since I first reviewed in 2011. Different, but no less good. They no longer offer fries as a side, but soup or a salad, potato chips and yummy cookies. They also added bowls to their offerings. Splendid and more with the times as bowls pretty much rule the west coast, and for good reason. As an unintentional mostly-vegetarian the hot pastrami called out to me, suprisingly. This place sources their meat from local names they're proud to name, so I thought about my B12 levels and went for it. I was not disappointed as my mouth let each bite dance around inside. Perfectly executed toppings, crisp yet fluffy grainy ciabatta and saucy goodness was chosen as a combo of half sandwich half soup. The stars were aligned for my tummy it seems because as fortune would have it their seasonal soup of vegan cauliflower curry was equally as good as the sandwich. Homegrown is calling me back. Next week, Homegrown...next week.

Yelp
Solid spot in Queen Anne. Went in at a pretty busy time and didn't have to wait to long. There seemed to be some confusion with folks coming in for online/Grubhub orders, but the staff were nice and helpful. I enjoy the kiosk process, it works well and makes everything move along faster. Not my first choice in Queen Anne but I will probably be back to pick up a quick lunch on a work day.

Yelp
Nice staff who were accommodating. The plant powered bowl was solid. I had it with black beans instead of chickpeas.

Yelp
We have ordered a lot from Homegrown, and mostly love it. Favorites are Smoked Pastrami and Steak and Blue. Only complaint is that the outside of the sandwiches is pretty greasy, just messy. The tomato soup is wonderful!! I order it every time, though my husband likes the salad. He also love the Matcha Chicken Avocado Bowl. I ordered the Farmstead Cobb recently, then remembered that I had had it before and it was lacking in blue cheese and bacon. Same thing with the second order. Otherwise tasty, but hey, blue cheese! So instead of reviewing it negatively, I emailed the restaurant, outlining that twice the salad had no discernible blue cheese or bacon. No response. So, take your chances with that.

Yelp
Homegrown is one of our family's favorite lunch spots. I know it sounds simple, but their BLT is incredible. Their delicious bacon together with fresh greens, grape tomatoes, and their garlic aioli are so, so good. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the tablet-only ordering. In a day of minimal human interaction, I wish stores weren't eliminating little opportunities such as these for human connection.

Henry J.

Yelp
I think the comment talking about the "defiant" blonde needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I mean come on, her name is Brittany so we can all imagine her version of the events is a little different than reality... Otherwise, this place is amazing for ordering catering! I love ordering multiple $100+ orders right at lunch time so I can feed my office a nice little treat!
google avatar

Reflection S.

Yelp
Please move your menu boards! It's so uncomfortable to sit and eat your food while being watched by people staring at the menu above your head. Can the menu be closer to the register?
google avatar

Yelp
Gotta say if you're looking for a sandwich...... look no further. Oh ya can't say it enough I love it!!!! I literally can not find a vegan food anywhere in the city except here specifically queen Anne location. So SO GOOD. Also the employees are literally the kindest people in the city. Best folks around!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good. Service was meh. Ambiance was good for a quick lunch spot. Honestly I'll be back regardless of the staff. Everyone has a bad day
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches. Broccoli melt and zatar chickpeas are vegetarian options that are great. Not for sitting in though.
google avatar

Howard C.

Yelp
The food was great! I ordered the Vegan Smashed Chickpea sandwich without beets! However..... The experience was very disappointing! I ordered through the self-serve system, so I assume the four employees behind the counter figured they did not need to communicate with me, even though I was the only customer inside the store. When my sandwich was ready, one of the staff brought my bagged sandwich over to the pick up section and simply called out my name along with names for other orders. When I picked up my order, no one thanked me for my business. I would hope that the owner (miles away???) realizes that there are other food businesses within walking distance that would have loved and appreciated my business. So, do you think I should go back?
google avatar

Allen C.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff -- but both last visit things were forgotten in our order (only found out after we get home). First time they missed a soup with my combo, and this time there's no steak in my steak salad..... triple check your content before you leave next time. Or just avoid this location all together to save yourself some frustration
google avatar

Yelp
Really tasty hearty salad bowls! I enjoy these whenever I wanna be full after a meal but also wanna be sure I don't feel sluggish. This most recent time I got the Spicy Braised Tofu and enjoyed it lots! This place and Evergreens are my go-to for this purpose.

Queen Carbohydrate G.

Yelp
Is this a joke?? Ordered online - paid extra for aioli - They screwed up the sauce - gave me hot sauce. I specifically wrote "no hot sauce." Then this brown avocado. Flipping gross. This was a $13 sandwich!!!!!?!?!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches with clean tasty ingredients. And fast service. And nice people work there; I hear them talking among themselves kindly and respectfully.

Laurie M.

Yelp
The staff does gently encourage patrons to use the kiosk as they are often busy filling orders or prepping for new orders. If we ask for a substitute or a sandwich ingredients like Zatar to be made into a bowl; they are most willing to do so. Super nice hospitable staff and good food so far from our experiences! I believe picking up your own food is a Superior experience at whatever restaurant you go to! Especially for your favorite foods because your expectations are higher!
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
Seven people working behind the counter and they just can't get it together. There was a huge line and an older woman was struggling while ordering her food on the computer. Poor thing. No one noticed no one offered to help as they just continued to chat. Once my food came out it was missing a whole sandwich in the bag. Thank god I checked while I was in the store. Once I got home the sandwich was missing ingredients . Seems they are all just distracting each other. Also please get two computers to order on. It makes it so stressful if you are having computer issues or just slower with tech and feel the pressure of the line staring at you. Three stars since the food is still good. The system not so much.
google avatar

Karin H.

Yelp
Looking for a lighter lunch or breakfast this might just be your place. The menu has good variety and, as the name suggests, foods are locally sourced. We have been here a couple of times and it is just on that cusp of being fast food but healthier. It is fast becoming one of our favorite places to go just before we head out of town. A good meal but not so full you are uncomfortable.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
It was freezing cold and windy outside, and while they allow you to come inside to order, they wouldn't let my pregnant wife wait inside with two masks on for the 5 minutes it took to make her sandwich even though there were employees inside without masks and eating.
google avatar

Marc L.

Yelp
Consistently fantastic takeout experiences. My favorites are the Broccolli Melt and the Chermoula Roasted Veggie Bowl. Food is always ready quickly and the ingredients are top notch.

Scott S.

Yelp
I've been here a few times in the past and had pretty good experiences. This time was mixed. I ordered the chicken pecan cherry salad sandwich. Those ingredients were likely in there, but were fully overwhelmed by mayonnaise, which was overprescribed by a factor of 10. (If you have interesting ingredients, why would you bury them like that?) That alone wouldn't get me to return, but I know other menu items are better. Extra star for the friendly employee who realized I couldn't see a damn thing on the ordering kiosk through my prescription sunglasses. Much appreciated!
google avatar

Gabriel M.

Yelp
This place is electric. The restaurant has the vibes of a fully awoken monk that has never eaten the dead flesh of an animal. Imagine eating pickled onions out of the anus of Zeus himself. That. Is. This. Restaurant.
google avatar

Les M.

Yelp
The "bowl" selections are good (tasty, fresh, etc.) and the service is friendly. However the music is way too loud. I got an important telephone call from my doctor and it was impossible to continue a conversation. In the end, I asked him to call me back later when I was in another the waiting room of the Cancer Institute at Ballard Swedish (which he never did). Avoid lunch-time unless you want to be around very chatty QA neighbors talking over the piped in music. At least in Paris 10 days ago, I could go to, for example, Cantine Volta in the Marais--a small, unpretentious, inexpensive lunch place with home-cooked meals) and engage in a perfectly comprehensible conversation at the next table with a Scottish woman and an Indian-German-Brit without having to shout over the din of other diners and pumped up pop music, the genre of which is definitely not my cup of tea.
google avatar

Betsy W.

Yelp
They really went above and beyond to fix the issues with my last order. Unexpected and very much appreciated. Will be ordering from here again.
google avatar

Laurie S.

Yelp
We were in this neighborhood from out of state for a couple months due to a family need. We discovered the Queen Anne location which was within walking distance and got "to go" orders on a regular basis. Our favorite was the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich though everything we tried was good. Ordering was easy; it was always ready when we arrived. We will sure miss this restaurant!
google avatar

Yelp
OK, my kids love this place so much that we decided to give it another try and everything went well. And then we give it another try and another try and... Everything has been great. I love ordering from the website, it's easy to navigate the menu, easy to add or remove items, nutrition availability is there, they even let you know how long it's going to be for your order to be ready. Ordering in the location it's self is also better, they have gotten much quicker and I believe they've got a nicer as well. I love love love the Matcha chicken bowl. It's delicious, full of the good ingredients like chicken and avocado, and they do not skimp on anything. I think I could eat this every day and be happy. My kids are in love with all of the different sandwiches, the avocado is always fresh, the bacon crispy, and the Beechers makes anything better.

Yelp
I didn't realize this was a chain until coming on Yelp to post this review and seeing locations throughout Seattle... In any case, I wanted very much to love this place. It's close to my house and everything on the menu sounds delicious (without being too unhealthy). Unfortunately I was let down. As I waited for my to-go order, I watched a food prep gal behind the counter carrying around sandwiches and sloppily tossing them on trays. It felt very much like a fast-food employee slinging burgers, which now makes more sense knowing that this is a chain. My salad/bowl appeared to be prepared with just as little care as the sandwiches. It had cabbage in it, despite my request for no cabbage. I was drowning in dressing. And with the excessive dressing + avocado, it had pretty much turned into a bowl of mush when they tossed it. It didn't look appetizing like the pictures at all. I recommend they combine the ingredients and let the customer stir/toss it themselves. I'll take responsibility for not requesting my dressing on the side like I normally do. All the ingredients were tasty (minus the cabbage), but the steak was about 80% gristle. I had to spit most of it out. Additionally, I assume they're called "bowls" rather than "salads" because they all include grains; however, the grains were minimal. It's a salad. My last complaint is the price. I left having spent $20 on a salad and chips (plus small tip) that I would soon be disappointed by once I sat down to eat it at home. I don't have a problem spending $15+ on a salad, but it better be good and served to me at a sit-down restaurant. $20 for a subpar lunch from a fast-food joint seems outrageous. Despite my disappointment and resulting low score, I'd like to give it another chance since the menu is appealing and I know everyone has a bad day. But I think, first, I'll spend my hard-earned money at healthy food joints that actually care about the service and products they're providing.

Yelp
I went here recently for lunch and had the ham and Beecher's cheese sandwich with greens, carmelized onions, and aioli ($11).. I wasn't really expecting that much from a sandwich shop, but I was blown away of how tasty this sandwich was. I also got this on french bread. The bread was really soft, but not heavy feeling.. not to mention it's also ok for vegans! The sauce and onions were so delicious and sweet, but was balanced with the ham. I got a whole and split my sandwich with my boyfriend. I had half of this and half of the chicken pesto. I'm not a huge fan of chicken, but the pesto was really tasty! We also shared a creamy broccoli soup, which I thought was okay. Overall, I really really enjoyed their sandwiches. I came back a few days later and got the portobello mushrooms, goat cheese, pesto, onions and greens ($9). Also tasty, and surely wasn't disappointed. I also got to try the pastrami sandwich with swiss, pickles, onions, and aioli. Both of these were really good. The sauces really make the sandwich and I can't wait to try the others... I'm a fan! But I'm not a fan of the price :( [Minus one star] It's a little pricy, but I think it's worth it. I've also had their chips cooked in peanut oil. Yummmm!

Yelp
My friends and I went to this spot today for lunch and I could not be more disappointed in the service we received. Due to the Coronavirus procedures in the restaurant have changed and the employees were not friendly in showing us how to go about ordering and waiting for our food. I would not recommend coming to this establishment if you don't want to be judged. Thank you! (not)

Yelp
I love this low-key neighborhood joint (albeit a mini-chain, but not all chains are bad) for their delicious sandwiches. Favorites - smashed chickpea zaatar, chicken pesto and plain old caprese. The french bread is amazing. Neat location with outside seating, fast service and ability to order online for a quick pickup make this a winner. Their bowls look amazing too, but I haven't personally tried yet.

Yelp
I haven't been to Homegrown in awhile and I was looking forward to grabbing a Stumptown Roast Pork Sandwich. I was so sad to see it off the menu. On the other hand, I was really excited to see all the new options especially the bowls! I got the Two Fried Eggs Bowl and it was tasty and filling. I love the chermoula aioli and it really added another layer of flavor to my bowl. I asked the eggs to be cooked over hard and they sure know how to cook their eggs to perfection. I will need to try out their other bowls for lunch. They look appetizing. Also, it was nice to be greeted by a friendly staff and answered all my questions.

amy s.

Yelp
I ordered the spicy tofu bowl today and I was really disappointed. It was a mix of wilted greens, broccoli, avacado, a tiny bit of grains and a few pieces of tofu. Way over priced for what I got - which was mainly wilted greens. I realize that many restaurants are struggling right now but I was happy to see that this location was very busy with their take out orders- which is great because I don't want any restaurant to be struggling. However, for the price- $16 after tax and tip- I won't be ordering from here again.

Dan T.

Yelp
Decent lunch spot. I actually really like a couple of their salads and sandwiches but have two major issues: 1) their avocado dressing is absolutely terrible and they don't have many good options (pls change this) and 2) it's a bit pricey. $20 for a salad seems like a lot, even for these days
google avatar

Milton S.

Yelp
A really good local farm to table place. The last time we were here we decided that it was good enough to come back. You have to be ready for local farm to table menu. It definitely is not going to be for everyone. Which is good because that is what makes them special. The food is locally sourced for the seasons. This is the first time we are doing breakfast. So if you are interested in something fresh from the farm, I would definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Libby W.

Yelp
Pricey but delicious. Try the tomato bisque with feta and the Samish Bay grilled cheese. I added turkey to my sandwich and it was pretty dang good.

Zachary O.

Yelp
Love that there is a sandwich shop in our hood. Great menu, lots of options. Have had both the sandwiches and bowls here. The only downside is the wait time for a sandwich. If there's even remotely a line, be prepared to wait for at least 10-15 minutes after you order
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Stopped here for a great and tasty lunch on a lovely spring day and sat outside to enjoy our sandwiches! What caught our eye about it was the gluten free options! Any sandwich that's on the menu can be ordered on GF bread...and it actually tastes like real bread! A huge plus! I had the smoked pastrami and my wife had a chicken pesto. Both were exceptional and super filling. The bread was toasted and knowing that we were allergic to gluten, the cooked made sure to avoid cross contamination. Many hours later we still felt good, so we felt confident in their prep! The cost is a bit high for a sandwich, but it's not your typical sandwich. Top notch, real ingredients and tasty gluten free fare. It's totally worth it!

Lexie R.

Yelp
The food here is immaculate, and I like to think every sandwich here is made with love by the friendly staff at this location. The grilled cheese is to die for, and homegrown put their whole tomatussy in the tomato soup.
