Amazing little traditional ryokan. Really beautiful. As soon as you walk in, you remove your shoes and use the provided house slippers. This place is beautifully decorated with marvelous hardwood all over and worn stones from rivers. It has a perfect little garden and koi pond in the middle. Our room was a 3 "bed" room. Basically it's a small square room with grass mat flooring and 3 little mats for your bed with nice blankets and a bean/rice filled pillow. Which you wouldn't think is comfortable at first but it is rather nice actually. Inside the room you also have your own house kimono. Everyone in the room gets one and they are very cool to wear around the hotel. Our room had an A/C unit and heater, I'm sure the others do as well. We opted for a lower priced room, so we had shared toilets and showers. Toilets are at the end of the hall and showers were in the basement. One thing to note, possibly about Japanese culture is that "privacy" is relative. The shared bathroom is unisex with 3 stalls and no door to the restroom. This might put off many people, but if you follow the philosophy of "everyone does it", then it's no big deal really. The showers were separated for male/female, just no private shower stalls however. Just open air bathing with your neighbors. There is also a large hot bath which can fit 5-10 people or so? This is all in the same shower room. This as well could put off many people but remember, we all have the same parts. It's no big deal. Traditional meals can be served to your room if you request and they were quite lovely. The staff are beyond helpful and it seems to be a mom & pop family run business. Sweetest folks in the world. If you want to sample the old style ryokan housing life, definitely visit here. I'd book here again.

If you truly want a japanese experience in Tokyo, this is the place to be. Homeikan is a traditional Japanese hotel (called ryokan) with affordable rates. It is truly a unique piece of art in an expensive Tokyo. We were welcome by the owner himself and their incredible staff. The rooms are great and clean, offering amazing views and lighting. A must-do is the japanese breakfast they serve. The baths are just fantastic for those curious on how Japanese traditionally wash themselves. This is a place I'd recommend to everyone. 5 stars.

Poor attitude. The worst service I've ever seen or had. I absolutely hate the lady working as an accountant. They open our room door without our permission. No knocking either. They speak ill about customers in Japanese. I would strongly recommend NOT to stay at this place. Very uncomfortable. Sad experience.

Lovely ryokan-style traditional inn. Affordable, staffed by friendly and helpful folks, and it features an awesome private bathhouse and public baths. My only regret is not staying longer!

Pretty, authentic rooms. Quiet location but easy to reach, 10 min walk from the station tops. Great service, we also ordered breakfast which was a nice experience :)

Disappointed by the sanitary condition of the shared bathrooms. Not to mention all bathrooms are shared (at least, the ones we knew of). Rooms seems to be disintegrating. Weird smells in bedrooms and front desk area smells of cigarettes due to its proximity with the smokers in the garden.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Gave us the ultimate traditional Japanese experience. Would love to stay there again upon my next Tokyo visit.

Daimachi ryokan, this 90 year old traditional building is nothing short of amazing. Beautiful garden, very nice and hot private bath.
