"Fresh Brews (and Chai) in Homer Homer Brewing Company is no Johnny-Come-Lately to the craft beer craze, as they've been crafting brew since 1996. Pop into their tasting room for a flight of beer samples and then decide which you want to take home in a growler. Plenty of merchandise is available, as is their own brewed chai tea mixes (both sweet and more traditional spicy), and local oysters can be pre-ordered as well."

Really good tap room . Their spruce tip beer is great. You can only get some light snacks. But they also offer beer flights at 3 USD per glass. Attentive staff as well.

This brewery is in the top 10 local brewery stops in Alaska for sure. The staff was extremely helpful at guiding me through their brew selections on tap, son of a bitter, oatmeal stout and my number one favorite was the porter. The atmosphere was relaxing with outside seating as well. I liked it so much I purchased a Homer Brewery t-shirt!

Google
Excellent variety of brews. IPAs and lagers etc. great staff. Nice indoor area is small but nice. Nice outdoor seating as well. Definitely glad we visited.

What A Wonderful tiny franchise Homer brewery!! One heck of a Little, Nice and Cozy Brew Haus that you can either chill outdoor with affordable close cap beer or wonderbar glass of amazing freshly brewed IPA and else. One thing you can bring home is Alaskan freshly made Chai. Definitely will come again, my dear Homer! From your Homie, GREENIE

Friendly, helpful staff and great atmosphere for a relaxing afternoon. Decent selection of beers. Although I am not a beer drinker, the group I went with found selections they enjoyed. They do have chai tea though, which was really good!

Only 1 beer that I enjoyed. I'm picky about my beer. I like fruity beers.🥲 My counterpart enjoyed far more than me. Very knowledgeable staff and friendly! Love the vibe and I had the Rhubarb Garden Ale.😍

If you are in Homer, go off the tourist strip and hit this brewery. It's a gem. The porter was fantastic. Really complimented the fresh oysters. Super friendly staff, I hope to go back!

Google
Great staff, great beer. Oysters right outside. Old brewery with a great homegrown vibe. I got a tour of the big open fermentation chambers in the back. Solid selection of beer. I'd recommend this for the tourist and the local. Great merchandise too.

Yelp
Staff was great and friendly! beer is good! Happy to come support a local brewery! Place is well set up for groups and party's. Large areas to hang out and mingle. We will be back!

Yelp
If you want to enjoy a cold beer after a day of hiking or sight seeing, stop in to Homer Brewing. Friendly, inviting environment and great outdoor seating. You are a block away from the lake where a lot of the float planes land and take off. We loved enjoying our beer outside - There are 6-7 picnic tables outside. Most are covered. Just what we were looking for - a cold drink and to be outside enjoying the great Alaskan outdoors! There was also a taco stand serving fresh made-to-order tacos outside. We had already eaten so we didn't get to try them. But they smelled and looked amazing! Homer Brewing has a local vibe, good cold beer, good vibes, and great outdoor seating!

Yelp
While in Homer you need to stop in at the Homer Brewing Co. and so we did. I had the Old Inlet Pale Ale and my friend had the Spruce Tip. Both of them were hits for us. $13 for both. This place is pretty unique and funky. I love the garage style brewery. The bartender was friendly and helpful. When we got here at 12:03 (Open at noon) we had the place to ourselves. Then people started flooding in. It's a nice place and I'd come back again.

Yelp
I stopped by here a couple of Friday afternoons ago to taste some beers after a full day of Halibut fishing. Homer Brewing is located on A st right near the Homer spit and isn't too much to look at from the outside. The inside isn't too special either but this is a brewery and so that shouldn't really matter. One side of the taproom is cordoned off because that is where all of their brewing equipment is. The other side contains some tables, a bar and a stuffed bear in some really fun clothing. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to try a flight here. I chose 5 pours: Old Inlet Pale Ale, Broken Birch Bitter, odyssey Oatmeal Stout, King & Wing ESB and finally Tod's Brown Rye Ale. Normally, I quite like a good ESB but I didn't think that the bitter or ESB were anything special possibly due to hops used in them? Out of the bunch I think I enjoyed the Rye Ale the best, closely followed by the oatmeal stout. The bottom line for me is that I might head back again in the future. While this wasn't my favorite brewery in Homer, the beers weren't bad and I am always a supporter of craft beer.

Yelp
The buy your friend a beer board left an impression, this is such a sweet local touch. The beer was great, I presume the owner/brewer gave us great descriptions of the beer and we ordered a flight. Good beer and vibes a nice stop in Homer.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a quick drink while in the area. Small with a few tables. The beer was amazing!!! I had a stout that I am still talking about. Come here for your local beers. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
Good beer and a very chill atmosphere. The view is great as it's tucked back into a neighborhood looking at the lake. I would love to visit again in the summer just to sit outside and enjoy the view with a good beer.

Yelp
Excellent beers and one block off of the road that drives out to the spit. Locally owned and been in business for years. Fun old school tasting room in that it's some fun tables in an open warehouse tile area as well as a beautiful patio. If you play your cards right there's a guy that smokes meat and takes them out of set up but that looked good. Other than that there's no food.

Yelp
Awesome vibes on tap! Just a groovy brewery with some good beer. Off the beaten path and seemingly well-loved by the locals which- is always a plus! The beers are all unique in flavor ranging from citrus to spicy with sweet and bitter styles. Heavy on the malt and also some smooth dark stout-y classics. plus- there's more! I appreciated the 50's style snack warmer that serves up warm nuts and toasty goldfish. Another perk is the awesome oyster truck that provides a tasty compliment to the beer. They come freshly shucked with a variety of condiments. The only downside are those pesky Alaska beer drinking regulations that seem to hover around your ear like a fly wherever you go. Something like, you can't drink open containers outside and can only buy a few beers before you're cut off ( and the cut-off is like 3 beers by 8pm). Like the pesky fly, you do your best to ignore the rules but they are still there. Luckily for us we like breaking rules and sat in the warm sun drinking out of nice big cups in the outdoor seating anyway. Despite this little annoyance, we visited Homer Brewing 3 or 4 times during our trip to homer and even walked away with a cool hat!

Yelp
#1 term for this brewery: chill. This place has a sleepy, hippy vibe. Something you don't get at many places in Alaska, even most breweries. Their beers are different than most American breweries these days in that they tend to be a bit more malt-forward (and less hop-forward) in comparison. DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU THOUGH! I'm quite the hop head and I found their beers very enjoyable! We went early in the day and the crew running the place even opened up early for us. They have some extremely nice, and unique, pint class designs too. My mom even bought one to take with. Worth a stop if you're in Homer. If you feel like you're driving to your weird Homer Uncle's place...you're close.

Yelp
The brewery was an interesting experience, but this is for the taco guy in front. Whoa, amazing! If he's there, be sure to stop by for a beer and his tacos, one of which is vegetarian friendly and oh my yum!

Joseph P.

Yelp
A great experience. A very low-key, "hipster"ish brewery. The beers were served not in standard pint glasses, but almost like kombucha jars with covers. The taps had long plastic tubing on them (which was cleaned regularly). I'd say the beers were hit and miss- the seasonal summer beer I had was fantastic, but the IPA I had was less so. There isn't much indoor seating, but the funky outdoor seating area is wonderful on a nice day. There were some folks playing music on guitars and violins while sitting in airplane-style seats. There was a nice shady overhang, and even seating in this little greenhouse which looked great for a sunny but cold Alaska day. I could've stayed here all day. Find a beer you like here, and enjoy the neat vibe.

Yelp
Great tasting beer with a friendly atmosphere and great music in the main building. Totally worth your time to check out this place. I highly recommend it. Overall, it is a very welcoming business.

Yelp
On Friday October 22, 2021 at Homer Brewing Company we were denied service being discriminated against for having a Certified Service Dog who was wearing a vest along with a leash says Service Dog, and were confronted violently and aggressively from the owner and staff. I have had my service dog for several years traveling across country by plane, train, bus, boats etc. We have had our challenges but have never been outright denied service until this tragic day. We had actually just left a restaurant called Fat Olives in Homer, with no issues, prior to stopping at Homer Brewing Company. We had only come into the establishment peacefully and nice to pick up beer growlers to go but were refused service and were inappropriately and aggressively welcomed by the staff and owner and never were given the opportunity to present our ID-*Stephen McCasland* who threatened us to a fight despite having a certified service dog and his partner-*Karen Berger* who stood by while her partner aggressively and carelessly discriminated against a service member and my wife witnessed their violent discrimination as well. We informed Stephen of this as he screamed and spit in my face even after being informed tasks and why my SD is needed. He aggressively got so close up to me in my face I could smell very strong alcohol on his breath and I understand it is his bar but if he cannot control his aggressions and blatant discrimination he should avoid consuming his product while there. This was a very tragic and it is disturbing and heart sick to see people with such disregard and disrespectful to those who served and especially those who were harmed and have disabilities with their service.

Yelp
Pretty cool brewery, one of only a few in town. Small amount of seating area inside but there is some outdoor seating as well. Parking is sparse in front of the bar so you may have to park on the side. I talked to a cool bartender at the time, he knew a good amount about the beer they served and helped me to pick out one I would like. A glass of beer is about $5 and a flight is $10 if you don't know what you like yet. This bar has a pretty cool atmosphere. It's bright inside and feels clean. The bathroom is interesting..it's unisex bathroom with a urinal, which I don't see to often. But what surprised me the most was the sink; it's much wider than it is long. During this time, every Thur, Fri and Sat from like 4-7 they serve fresh oysters. They are super good and definitely worth the price and pairs well with a beer from the bar. All in all this is a great place to hang out with friends and a cool place to check out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Great out of the way brewery. Quiet and lake view. Outside seating. Some mech available for those souvenir shoppers. Loved the time here. No food here just brews. Enjoy.

Yelp
A very small microbrewery with solid beers. If you're in Homer and love beer, drop by. The owners were very friendly and even opened early for me. Thank you for the awesome beer!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in one evening during our visit to Homer and I'm sure glad we did. We have a lot of breweries back home in Wilmington but we really enjoy our time sipping on a few cold beers. The place is located just a few blocks off the main road. After ordering a few beers we bought some souvenir shirts from a large selection they had on hand. The beers were VERY good and the owner (Steve) was be eye nice and knowledgeable of the brewing process. He opened 20plus years ago and does a fantastic job. He literally sat at the table beside us and talked with us for about an hour and answered all my questions about the brewing process and general questions about the history of Homer. This is a must stop if your ever in this area.

Yelp
Very small place, but the environment is great. Come in for a few beers and chat with friendly staff and leave with a growler or two of you favorite iconic brew. They've got loads of swag to buy if that's what you're looking for as well.
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
If you like beer in general, a must stop. 8 taps flowing, several that are only poured onsite. Staples are found throughout the town's local restaurants. If you are in town for a few days stop by early, they have loaner growlers that you can keep filling up. Plenty of t-shirts, hats, glassware...

Yelp
Had an extremely enjoyable visit over the Fourth of July weekend. They had nine beers on tap. Our group tried the light pale ale, Belgian spiced ale, Scottish ale, dark lager, and a porter. All were very good, the Belgian and pale were the group favorites. Very friendly staff. Indoors can seat around 30-40 plus an outside patio. Was well patronized by locals and visitors. Would certainly come back. On second thought we might come back tomorrow!

Yelp
There are so many exciting breweries in Alaska, this isn't one of them: beer is just okay, the ambiance is botching special. My wife did like the cider...

Yelp
We found our favorite beer at Homer Brewing on a self-guided Kenai Peninsula beer tour. Good beer in a hidden spot!

Yelp
Beers were really good and service was friendly. This was one of my favorite breweries during our recent week through Alaska. Hopefully I'll be back in Homer at some point to get some more beers here.

Yelp
If Homer is a quaint drinking village with a fishing problem, this is surely the epicenter of said town. Even now Im contemplating how to lick the last drops of my beer out of the 1/2 gallon growler I bought today. Go for the 3 free samples. Steal your friends samples when theyre not looking. Buy copious amounts of beer (cause its a long trip back for more). Pet the cat. (Thats right, a cat) Come back because your addicted and its cheaper the second time around, when you bring the bottles back. Happiness is a good microbrew.

Yelp
Hmm, some of these reviews knocked off several stars because a bad experience with the person behind the counter. I guess I went on a day when someone else was working, or was too busy drooling over the thought of the beer to come to noitce... At any rate, I didn't come here for gossip hour at the social club. I came to get my drink on - and they were plenty helpful in that regard. When they say Homer is a quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem, it's plain to see why, with great beers being born in their backyard. I recommend the Broken Birch Bitter and the Red Knot Scottish. These are both very pleasant, very tasty beers. They are perfect for sipping while you relax and enjoy the marvelous views of nature Homer (and all of Alaska, for that matter) has to offer. p.s. Return your empty growler bottles for $2 back, each.

Yelp
Homer Brewing Company has been producing and distributing beer locally since 1996. It is Homer's first and only brewing company. They brew using a small batch system. The brewery has an open layout. You can see the production are from the tasting area. The tasting area does not accommodate large groups. When I arrived, there were only two couples in the tasting room. And, while I was sharing a flight, the other patrons that came in, came in to fill growlers. Overall, whilst in Homer, this is a must stop, especially if you are a craft beer drinker.
google avatar

Rory S.

Yelp
Awesome brewery with a delicious selection! They are also the only Alaskan company that brews chai! I was fortunate enough to come during a fresh batch and got to enjoy my delicious brew with the wonderful smell of a batch being bottled. Every beer is super smooth and makes you want another, it really makes you find excuses to come to homer being that they are only local and do not ship out. A must stop, if you are out here and do not you are truly missing out.
google avatar

J W.

Yelp
Keep it simple - their Red Knot is worth every drop. Just wish they would sell it outside Homer, Alaska.
google avatar

Albert H.

Yelp
Cute location with plenty of breweriana inside for the collector. Beer was available for us in these used So-Be glass containers, and there was a little roach coach type hotdog stand outside (and a nasty outhouse, but I won't talk about that). Beers were good and some of the staff were quite nice.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
Pretty good local beer. All beers are a little on the hoppy side. Great if you're a hops fan. Also had oysters for $4 a dozen. Nice spot to escape the rain and have a cold one.
google avatar

Cameron K.

Yelp
This is the cute brewery that every small town in America would love to have. With a large selection of tasty beverages (I recommend the tasting flight) and growlers to go I would be a regular patron if I lived in Homer. It is a little difficult finding this brewery. Despite what Google Maps might tell you, I'd recommend that you follow one of the hand drawn maps available at many local businesses. My directions: from Ocean Drive turn towards Beluga Lake (that would be right coming from the Spit or left coming from the main land) and go approximately one block. Then turn right on Lakeshore Drive and proceed for about a quarter mile until the brewery is on the right.

Yelp
ZERO STARS! My friend, dog and I all made our way here on our trip to Homer. I called and asked if they were dog friendly they said "yes, in a designated area behind the greenhouse" we have never been here or had their beers so we did a flight what they didn't tell us until after we paid was that we could only sit inside. After explaining we had brought my dog he still said no, with no reasoning as to why. There is one sign that has that information but it is not at the main entrance or at the register. You should mention this information for people who are bringing dogs especially if they call and inquire. I have been to 10 other breweries in Alaska and this by far is not the best. The guy was also rude and would clear my flight glass practically right after I finished it. Really disappointing and really tainted our Homer experience.
google avatar

Jan J.

Yelp
The Homer brewery has great beers, a fun atmosphere. It is full of locals. If you want to sit outside you can borrow a growler they will fill it for you to drink outside and enjoy the Jakolaf oysters.. pure heaven.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
Homer Brewing is lovely. They have been around for 16 years now which I respect greatly. They have a lot of fun things to buy and look at inside as well as delicious beer. The tap room allows 2 samples which is a bummer because I asked if I could purchase a flight of samples so that I could try them all and the answer was no but the 2 allowed samples are free; granted that is what I expected. The Pale Ale is incredible. It has cascade hops and one other hop but the flavor taste almost of Juniper. It is fantastic. The Rye Stout is also delicious. I bought a Pint Glass Coozy which will be put to great use. I do not know if I will make it back to Homer anytime soon but when I do I will pay Homer Brewing a visit.

Yelp
Cool little place off the main drag. Lots of IPA and stouts. I like hefs but they didn't have any available.
google avatar

Ishi M.

Yelp
I had originally given HBC one star because i caught one of the employees on a bad day in which customer service was really lacking, however I'm bumping up my rating to three stars given that the owner cared enough to reply to my original review and appologize. I will say that the next time im in Homer, I'll stop in again in hopes of submitting a 5 star review.

W B.

Yelp
Beer was not my favorite, but its beer and it was good. Staff was friendly and informative talking about the types of beer. Glasses were cool, especially the bottles. Ambiance was funky, which fits the town. Had tons of merchandise on hand if thats your thing. Loved the concept of selling nuts and olives (a good variety).
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Got the sampler, amazing. Got the rhubarb soda, amazing. Family business that does beer well, a great place to visit.
google avatar

Chris F.

Yelp
The best beer you never heard of in your life. The reason is that they are deliberately (stubbornly, some might say) a small operation. They could make this beer in mass quantities and ship it all over, and make a hell of a lot of money, but they'd rather keep it local and do it right. And it is so, so right. You can get growlers filled or a glass or two at the brewery itself, pre-filled growlers are available at some local liqour stores, and pretty much all the bars have several of their beers on tap. During the warmer months there is a beer garden outside with fresh local oysters shucked to order. It doesn't get much better than this.
google avatar

Ann B.

Yelp
This is always a stop while in Homer. I think the beer is mostly just fine, though I wonder why they're not big into making IPA's (my favorite). The selection is usually pretty varied, it's just that hop bomb I'm usually chasing that leaves me wanting here. I enjoy their bitters, red ale and stout as a substitute - one cannot be too picky while in Homer. The brewery itself is an open space of sipping/chugging tables, merchandise sales, pour station and the production space. It's usually pretty mellow any given weekday and service is friendly and quick. Pricing is affordable. I would definitely encourage anyone looking for craft beers to make a stop here while touring Homer.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Enjoyed a tasting tray of five beers for $10. I enjoyed them, but found them to be a bit on the hoppy side. They have more than five though the others were mostly IPA's and again I have a thing against hoppy beer. It was still a good spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Not where you'd expect it..kind of away from everything else, but it was pretty quiet so that was nice. Restrooms are portapotties.

Spencer K.

Yelp
First time here. Great pale ale and oysters! Sit at the picnic tables and soak in the sunshine.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
I'm glad we stopped by here. The beer is pretty good (not super amazing, but reasonably tasty), you can taste it all for free, and they'll even fill up a bottle for you to take with you if you want. (We got a half liter & took it to lunch with us.) It's also really cool that they bottle using repurposed SoBe tea bottles.
google avatar

Haley S.

Yelp
Though I'm not much of a drinker, my hubby LOVES this little brewery and always opts for the Red Knot when we're out at a local eatery.
google avatar

Brent A.

Yelp
If you are in Homer, you should definitely stop in for a beer. A heads up, this is not a bar, but a true microbrewery. Most of their business appears to be locals bringing in growlers for refills. There was a steady stream of refill customers coming in while we were there. However, they will sell you beer by the pint, they have about a dozen on tap, and they are very good. There are several small tables you can sit or stand at while you drink your beer. They also sell kegs, but no bottles. It was a good place to take a break from homer sight-seeing and have a beer

S K.

Yelp
Great little place. Out of the bustle of the spit. Seemed like a favorite with the locals. Beers were good, especially the spiced Celestale! Delicious! Some locals were playing live music too. Plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors and short walk to the lake.
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Good beer. Very small but pretty cool. Definitely a place to drop by and have a beer.
