I am pretty much a lobster roll junkie. When I go back to the US where I grew up (East coast and right on the ocean), I eat at least one lobster roll a day, sometimes two. So I was thrilled that a place that won an award in Portland, Maine had opened in Paris where I frequently visit from Switzerland.
My friends (one who grew up in our same ocean-side town) and I went to Rambuteau first. One ordered the Asian roll (not sure of the name), the other New Englander got the traditional with mayo and I ordered the Connecticut which is supposed to be served tossed in melted butter. Which it was. But also with a TON of mayo! Now anyone who knows me knows how much I detest mayonnaise. I think it is a blight on the universe. So if you are going to put mayo on something, please tell in advance. It was not listed as an ingredient in the CT roll and in actual CT it is never on the roll. Never. Ever. Butter only.
Then two days later I went alone to the Odéon shop and ordered the grilled cheese and lobster sandwich and almost fainted when I saw them putting mayo on the bread. Mayo on a grilled cheese sandwich? Nope, just nope. So I did end up getting a non-mayo grilled cheese and lobster and loved it. I'm even going to suggest it at my favorite New England ocean-side clam/lobster shack. Only suggestion for Homer, let the cheese get a little more melty and you won't need the mayo.
I'll definitely go back here. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
