Recently, my husband, our children, and I stayed at the Homestead Resort in Midway. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. The resort was under construction during our stay, which limited access to planned amenities—most notably the Crater, which is the main attraction and a primary reason we chose this property. Additionally, the parking areas were gravel and extremely muddy, and the walk from the parking lot to our room was quite long.
Our room, located near the Milk House, was updated and visually nice; however, there were several cleanliness concerns and a lack of basic amenities. We had to request bedding for the spare bed, as well as additional pillows and blankets. The kitchenette did not include a microwave, which would have been very helpful for reheating food or preparing simple snacks for our family. The bathrooms were also minimally stocked, with no soap, no hand soap for the kitchenette, and no basic cleaning supplies.
Another major drawback was the noise. Being near the Milk House and main building, loud outdoor music played daily—starting as early as 7–8 a.m. and continuing until 10 p.m. This made it difficult to sleep in or go to bed early. Guests seeking a quiet, peaceful stay should be aware that rooms in this area are not conducive to rest.
We also visited the Milk House on two mornings to get coffee and pastries, but both experiences were disappointing. The staff did not greet us or offer assistance and came across as rude, which ultimately led us to leave without purchasing anything.
While the resort has potential and the updated room was aesthetically pleasing, the construction disruptions, noise levels, lack of amenities, cleanliness issues, and poor customer service significantly impacted our stay.
